Forms 10g Design Rich User Interface

Dear All,
i would link to design rich user interface in forms 10g.
for example : the button shape is circle , not only
rectangle.
Is it possible to do that in forms 10g or import some java object from third party tools.

the concept of Pluggable Java Comnponents (PJC) allows you that. PJC only change the UI of a component without affecting its functionality.
The Forms demos that are available on otn.oracle.com/products/forms contain enhanced buttons in teh form of mouse over effects.

How to design the user interface for Indesign cs6 plugin ?

Designing user interface using custom c++ library(SDK) for pluging is very tedious work .so when I search the net than i found that we can do it using Adobe Creative Suite Extension Builder but i dont know how to use it to develop user interface for plugin and to how to enable event handling in this UI .I read lots of document regarding this on net but they all created lots of confusion in my mind so can anyone help me to know steps which i must follow to develop plugin using this or whatever technology (action script,java script etc)

To give a brief of how to develop UI using JS you can use ScriptUI to develop your UI, it is a fast and OS independent approach to UI development. The UI created using JS is native in look. You can refer the following link for some help on ScriptUI

I don't have much info regarding development in CS SDK, but i can point you to one more direction of dev called as hybrid plugins wherein the UI is created in CS SDK, and appropriate methods are exposed from the C++ plugin(enhancing the script object model) to be called up by the CS code for too and fro communication between these two modules of code.

So are you saying that this person is legitamately asking for someone to write up this student registration form, for use in some sort of production student registration application? Ok, if so, I apologize for jumping to the wrong conclusion. But, to me it sounds like a student hit the "Using Swing" chapter in the text and was given the following assignment:
For this assignment you are working as an administrator in a private college and you need to solve the following problem:
You need to create a student registration form that uses most of the graphical user interfaces(GUI) features. The form should consist of the following features:- Label, Button, Check box, Radio Button, List, Panel and Layout. The GUI features must be functional.
You have two weeks.
Now, I suppose that I could be wrong, if so, I apologize and go with the previous poster that said ask a comp sci student to do this for you.

Forms 10g - Design Document

Good day,
I'm working in Oracle Forms Builder 10g (10.1.2.0.2) and I keep coming across functions in the PL/SQL code that are used to modify values in the forms. Unfortunately I don't have a design document for my system so I can't tell the API of these functions. I think some of the functions may be standard functions in PL/SQL or Oracle Forms Builder. Would anyone be able to point me to a resource that can explain how to use each of these functions?

Those are all Forms functions. I would suggest you download the PDF [url http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/documentation/10g-forms-091309.html]documentation for Oracle Forms. I use the PDF manuals all the time. Another good source is the online-help by simply selecting Help => Online Help and then searching for the particular function name or the like.

Forms 10g App. is slow: What is the official procedure to follow?

Hello Forms gurus. This question has been bugging me for some time. Here is the scenario.
We have a Telco application developed using Forms 10g.
A user complains that his form is slow.
We have access to the live DB (assume it is a 10g DB).
However, we cannot run the form in the live DB. We have no access to it. We only have access to the live DB.
What is the "procedure" to follow in a situation like this???
Is there an Oracle Recommended procedure to follow?
You inputs will be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure the database is the cause of your performance problems? Can you identify slow queries? The first thing you should investigate is *where* your problem relies. Ask your DBAs if they can tell you the bad performing queries or help you analyze if there are any. If the database behaves well then most certainly it isn't the culprit of your performance problem. Of course there are some other no-gos which might affect application performance (like slow-by-slow processing, or serializing, or what ever else). So you need to identify where the time is spent first.
So, according to the them, if a form is "slow", 99.99% it is caused by a slow query. So, they expect us developers to know tuning stuff.
Erm...and who else should know it? Developers design the application, developers know how it should work, and therefore are the ones who should know how to tune it. And I'm not talking about looking into why the Hard disk responds slow kind of stuff but simple identifying sub-optimal code, or SQL tuning by looking at the execution plans, interpreting them and solving them by...oh, I don't know, rewriting the query, minimizing recursive SQL, and what ever else. DBAs on the other hand know next to nothing about your application. How should they know if a query plan is bad or not (except the query responds slow)? How should they know how to rewrite your query properly if they don't know what it's supposed to do? Don't write a query whatever way you like and expect them to understand it and tune it which might even imply changes on your underlying data model.
There are 2 scenarios:
(1.) We got e-mail from user saying form is slow. But he is not using the form now.
-- Is there a way to find out slow queries that happened say few days ago? Are they stored somewhere?
(2.) User is currently logged on to the system and using the form.
-- Can you find out an slow query happening right now??
1.) This would be AWR. As they have the final saying about the database then ask them to provide you a AWR report of a Time period where you had performance problems. If you don't have AWR then it'll be somehow difficult to analyze performance problems of the past. But on the other hand I wouldn't worry too much if you can constantly reproduce your problems as this would take us straight foreward to:
2.) That would be SQL Trace. Simply trace the session experiencing performance problems, and run tkprof on the tracefile. If you don't know how to do that and don't know how to interpret a query plan then you might ask your DBAs if they can assist you. If they insist that you must know that on your own maybe ask them to teach you. It is one thing to ask someone to do your job, but an entirely other thing to ask someone for help to do your job better and share some knowledge.
In the end it'll be easier to work *with* your DBAs to identify and solve performance problems and not working *against* them. You have knowledge about your application, about what data is stored where and why but might lack some basic knowledge about SQL Tuning. Your DBA on the other hand has no knowledge about your application but might have a better understanding of basic SQL tuning. IMHO the both of you would make a good couple to solve SQL performance problems as your knowledge combined should make it easy to resolve your problem.

User interface elements

in the 'configure virtual form for table' part in the tutorial entitled performing inserts, updates and deletes, it's wriiten 'select the user interface elements in the table component, right click and choose Configure Virtual Forms'. but i can't find any 'user interface elements'. can anyone tell me how to get this out so that i can configure the virtual forms. thanx.

Hi,
The "user interface elements" refer to the components namely textField1, dropDown1, textField2 and textField3. Select all of these components either in the designer view or in the Outline window. Once selected right click on one of the components and you will get the option Configure Virtual Forms.

Teststand Simple User Interface in LabVIEW

I am designing a user interface for Teststand by using the simple example vi provided. The name of the file is Top-Level VI.vi
I am trying to understand how the vi works inorder to make changes and ran into a few questions that I was hoping someone could answer for me please.
To start I add my sequence file and click "Test UUTs". Then a dialog box pops up asking to enter the serial number of the UUT, where and what causes that to happen in the code? After I enter my serial number it runs my sequence code and at the end another message box appears specifing in a green or red whether the UUT passed or failed. Where and what causes the Pass/Fail Boxes to happen in the code?

The S/N dialog is part of the process model.
For the Sequential Model (SequentialModel.seq), the default S/N dialog in found in the 'PreUUT' sub-sequence and implemented as a DLL call.
The PreUUT sub-sequence of the SequentialModel is a callback, so you can override it in your own test sequence.

Getting form to scroll as user tabs

Greetings,
I have just completed a migration from Forms 6i to Forms 10g. A user has noted the fact that when she was using the 6i version a form that she was using would scroll the window as she tabbed through the fields but this behavior does not occur in 10g. Is there any way to provide this functionality to 10g?

according to https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=55279, you'll either need to change the default location of the files created by the daemon or change the permissions on the ones already created. Check out the linked page if you have any more problems, seems pretty extensive.

Beginning Design question - Forms 10g

This is the first form I have been asked to develop. I am designing a forms 10G application. It is to be a read only interface to multiple history tables in a 10 R2 database. I want to be able to have the user select a year and then populate the form with that year's data. Will I have to create a form for each year? or is there a way to pass the year as a parameter and then select a datablock built from each table and associate that datablock with just 1 form. OR, if that is a lousy design, what is the best approach?

You just need one form, but some datablocks (maybe).
If you have a database table for each 'year' then you need a datablock for each year.
Create a stacked canvas for each datablock.
To change beetwen blocks use:
go_block('block_name');If you have just one table then you can use set_block_property
set_block_property('block_name', default_where, 'where clause');

It is not possible to post the codes for your requirement.Also you have not mentioned whether you want to use this web app for portal application or simple web application which will be running on weblogic server.
If you are using portal application
the JSPs will be the part of JPF(Java Page Flow)
If you are using web application
You have to create jsp in weblogic workshop.
You can use weblogic workshop help to do that
