Forms 10g Function Key Buttons

Hello,
I want to create graphical Function key Buttons (F1-F8)(Mouse clickable) to the bottom of all my forms (~650!), like in a terminal. Buttons are the same for all forms.
Anybody know how to do this? I already managed to assign the proper functions to the Function keys by the frmweb.res file (function Key mapping).
I was thinking of using a (invisible) framed webpage (html), the top frame displaying the forms aplet, the bottom part displaying the buttons. How to send keykodes from these buttons?

Find the file fmrweb.res in the DevSuiteHome_1\forms folder.
Rename it to something like fmrweb_orig.res
Copy the file fmrpcweb.res as fmrweb.res. The fmrpcweb file has settings to match the Windows 6i keys.
By the way, you can edit the fmrweb file with a simple text editor to see how to change it.

i have installed oracle 9i app server rel2 on oracle8i database, using which i have deployed my application (which was developed on developer2000) with the help of forms services - provided by oracle 9ias. now, my application is running on browser. but, when i run my appliation on browser the function keys mapping like
F7-enter query, F8-execute query was supercided by browser functional key mapping, which means i can use only the menu, i cannot use the functional keys to retrive and save data.
is there any method or setup thro which i can bring the d2k funtional key mapping on browser.

Function keys are not working?

hi all
i am using dv-10G(10-1...) can anyone guide me how we can use our desire keys in forms.
example
For commit form my function keys should be look like this.
commit form-----F10
Execute Query...........F11
etc

Hi sarah,
One way is to create the key triggers for your function keys.
Another way is there is a keyboard mapping file usually found in <dev suite home>/forms folder.
File name is fmrweb.res. It defines the mapping of various keys to the function it should perform.
If you've migrated from 6i, best thing to do is take the backup of fmrweb.res file and save the fmrpcweb.res file as fmrweb.res file.
fmrpcweb.res file is provided for the compatibility with 6i keyboard mappings.
e.g a sample line in fmrweb.res is
83 : 2 : "Ctrl+S" : 36 : "Commit"Means, in 10g, ctlr_S is the same as commit (which is done through F10 in 6i).
So, either you can copy the F10 entry from fmrpcweb.res to fmrweb.res or copy fmrpcweb.res as fmrweb.res, i suggested above.
in fmrpcweb.res is:
121 : 0 : "F10" : 36 : "Commit"Hope you understand.

I am new to adf i am trying to enable keyboard shortcuts and functions keys like (f1= help etc) in adf. Can anyone help me in this regards.
Also Just like Oracle forms having function keys (f1,f2,f3 etc for commit, clear, submit) I am having a jspx page and i want to enable those shortcuts in that page. How to achieve it?

I have checked those links before but that is not exactly what I am looking for. I am searching in context with Oracle forms as in oracle forms you have commit on F2 or clear all on F3(say), I want to implement those in ADF. I am having a jspx page in which i have added some input texts and submit button now i want to implement a function key which will (clear all) the data from the input field in runtime. or any other function key which will invoke the submit button and commit the request.

Standard function keys in specific applications

Just wondering whether there is any way to use the standard functions of F1, F2 etc in specific applications without having to have this function enabled in Leopard as a whole. For example, in general, I want to be able to adjust the volume and brightness on my Macbook Pro without having to push the fn-key. However, when, and only when, I use Pages, I want to use these keys as standard-function keys in order to be able to switch between styled. Is there any way I can make this happen??

no, this is for any keyboard that has a fn key. if you have it on your keyboard then you get that checkbox in keyboard system preferences. if you don't have it the checkbox won't even show up. when the box is checked you have to hold fn to get the functionality of the F-keys written on them. otherwise they act as regular keys that can be mapped to whatever you want. you can do this in system preferences->keyboard&mouse->keyboard shortcuts.

Third Party keyboard- possible to "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys"?

I've got a 3rd party Anker slim mac keyboard (http://www.amazon.com/Anker%C2%AE-Bluetooth-Wireless-Keyboard-Tablets/dp/B005ONM DYE).
I really need to be able to use the F7 and F8 keys for my audio program (Pro Tools 10), but they always do the consumer-keys actions (rewind/play in itunes). Everywhere I look says to go to System Preferences and select the "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys" button, but since I have a third-party keyboard, that option does not exist. Using an applescript to try and do it anyway doen't work either. The closest I've gotten is using the freeware FunctionFlip, but that requires me to press and hold the Fn key to use them as function keys. I don't want that.
Is there ANY way, official or third party, free or paid, that I can get this to work without buying a new keyboard?

Long ago in an OS far away, I knew how to disable the function keys so I could map them as I chose in my mappable apps. I know this was — at the time — a terminal command, but I just can't remember it. I would settle for knowing how to do that again, but what I would really like is the ability to either quickly turn on and off the Mac default uses for the function keys or, better yet, have it turn off in certain apps.
I've tried the "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys," button in the Keyboard & Mouse System Settings, but I don't see where that has any sort of effect. The reference there to the 'fn' key makes me think it's only for laptops. Do I have to restart the app or the computer? Will that do what I'm looking for?

Executing oraxsl utility through forms 10g

Hi,
I tried to execute oraxsl utility in forms 10g using a button but failed. This utility is working fine when i run it through command line interface, but its not working on forms.
Code on when-button-pressed trriger is :

Using IE 8 and tried on IE 7 as well.
Oracle JInitiator: Version 1.3.1.22Oracle Jinitiator is not compatible with IE 7/8, you have to use the Sun JRE 1.6.0._16 or higher instead. Take a look at section *2.2 Oracle Forms Applications on Client Platforms* in the Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2) Certification Matrix.
After installing the Sun JRE 1.6.0, you will need to modify the %DEVSUITE_HOME%\forms\server\formsweb.cfg to set the correct JRE version information. Make the following changes:

how I call report under form 10g from Push Button trigger without haveing Oracle Application Server ? is there any way to do so ?

You use the run_report_object. See the help file for information on how to use it.
By the way, you must use the Application Server to use Forms. It's an integral part of Forms.

Problem with Keyboard function keys.

Hey guys, let me start by saying I'm not a novice when it comes to computers, I'll be able to understand most of what you guys say here. My function keys are working perfectly fine... when I hold fn with F10 or any other button with controls it will move the desktop away in a quick and timely manner. However, if I try to use the key with just the speaker function it does not respond until MUCH later if at all.
I have been having numerous headaches with Lion. This issue did not arise previously with Snow Leopard. Keyboard Setup Assistant also appears at bootup although I have nothing plugged in what-so-ever. Couple of things I've tried (I've found many threads about this and this seems to be the answer that is commonly given, but doesn't work for most of these people):
1) I reset my PRAM a few times.
2) I tried it with the Use function keys button checked and unchecked. This is happening straight from a fresh install.
3) I deleted preferences and had them remade.
This goes for Brightness, Keyboard Brightness, Dashboard, volume and track controls. Thanks for your help...

Without knowing which verison of OS X is installed it's difficult to say what you have done. However in ML open System Preferences - Keyboard - uncheck Use all F1, F2 etc. keys as standard function keys

Changing functionality of Function Keys in forms 10g

Dear users....One of the big difficulties users facing in my 10g forms applications is that its Function Keys have totally changed like that of Enter-Query or Execute-Query. In forms 6i user was habitual of working with F-7 & F-8 for this purpose but in 10g its quite different. Can u tell me that how can I match the functionality of these Function Keys in 10g to that of Forms-6i???

Hey Arun...I've read urs recommended post, I wish to give u 10 pts if u give me the answer for this question too ;) Can I use my newly created fmrweb.res in my own application? I mean other users should keep on using the default fmrweb.res file but I should use the file compatible with 6i shortcut keys. Is there any configuration for this in formsweb.conf file?

How to redefine function keys in forms 10g

You can change the key mappings by changing the file fmrweb.res in the *<dev_suite_home>\forms* directory. If you want to change all the key settings as in 6i, then make a copy of the fmrweb.res file for a saftey and rename the file fmrpcweb.res as fmrweb.res.

"Undefined Function Key. Press Ctrl+F1..." Porting app from 6i to 10G

I am running into a problem porting my application from Oracle Forms 6i to 10G. When I am querying a record based on a field that is not the first on the screen, I get an "Undefined Function Key. Press Ctrl+F1 for list of valid keys." error. I do not get the error using the same function keys from the first field on the screen. I also do not get the error if I click into another field (besides the one I an querying) before hitting my execute query key.
I did some research, and found a fix that seems to work. I can add a WHEN_MOUSE_CLICKED trigger to the form and put in the following:
Go_Item(:System.Mouse_Item);
That seems to fix the issue. My problem is that I have close to 400 forms to upgrade. I would like to avoid adding this manually to every single form. I have looked into libraries, but I can't seem to figure out how to replicate a WHEN_MOUSE_CLICKED trigger using procedures. I was wondering if there was a way to use the Forms upgrade utility to add this trigger to every form it converts. Does anyone know if that can be done?

I'm not sure this solves the problem. This would call the trigger, but the trigger does not currently exist. I would still have to manually create the trigger in all 400 (or so) forms. Is there a way to add it in a more global way?

A FLEXFIELD IS A FIELD MADE UP OF SUB–FIELDS, OR SEGMENTS. THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF FLEXFIELDS: KEY FLEXFIELDS AND DESCRIPTIVE FLEXFIELDS.
KEY FLEXFIELDS:
I HAVE A COLUMN CALLED ADDRESS(SINGLE FIELD),WHEN I KEEP MY CURSOR ON THIS FIELD AND PRESS ENTER,IT POP'S UP A WINDOW WITH ALL NECESSARY FIELDS CORRESPONDING TO ADDRESS LIKE,DOOR-NO.,STREET NAME,CITY ETC.... WITH AN OK & CANCEL BUTTON.
ONCE I GIVE THE VALUES ACCORDINGLY IN THE ADDRESS FIELD AND CLICK OK BUTTON IT STORES ALL THE VALUES IN WINDOW TO THE ADDRESS FIELD.
