Forms 6/6i compatibility............

Does Forms 6/6i work with Oracle 7.3........

At most we can upgrade our servers to 9.2, to be able to work within environment that was supported.
Developer 6.0.8 comapatible with (RSF - Required Support Files) - v 8.0.6. The latest supported release for the mentioned RSF was 9.2.
Required Support Files contain the OCI, UPI, CORE, NLSRTL, and SQLWIN
interfaces.
UPI is an advanced version of OCI used by Oracle tools only.
It is used by any Oracle software which wants to communicate with Oracle
RDBMS.
CORE is a set of common functions for program, memory, date and number
handling, available to Oracle tools only.

  • Form designing for compatibility between Acrobat Reader 7 and Acrobat Professional

I have designed a Form using LiveCycle Designer 7.0. It contains a few subforms and lot of javascripting. One of the javascript logic I am using is to display a subform when a user clicks a radio button and hide it when the user clicks another radio button. The subform contains Text field, Numeric field, Rectangle, Line, Button. This worked well with Acrobat Reader 7.
After I installed Acrobat Professional 7, my form breaks. I did a quick test to see where it breaks and came out with the following conclusion.
    1. If the subForm contains an Image, Line, Rectangle or Circle control, the subForm rendering throws error (Adobe Acrobat 7.0 has encountered a problem and needs to close) when I click on the radio button to display the subform.
    2. If the subForm contains Text control, it is displayed even if subform is invisible.
    3. If the subForm contains Checkbox, Radio, Dropdown list, List Box, Button, Submit By Email, Submit, Print Form, Reset Form; these controls are never displayed even if subform is visible.
Has anyone encountered a similar issue?

    Hi Dave,
    Thanks for the response.
I need some clarification. When you say 7.0.5 version, are you expecting 7.0.5 version of Reader or Professional?
    Here's the steps I followed:
I originally had Adobe Designer version 7, 0, 041126, 0 and Acrobat Reader 7.0.5 and everything worked great.
Now I have uninstalled Designer and Reader and installed
Acrobat Professional Tryout. This installs Acrobat Professional version 7.0.0 and Adobe Designer version 7, 0, 041126, 0 (which is the same as above). Now the same forms which were working earlier are not working as expected.
Please note that I have NOT installed Acrobat Reader 7.0.5. How do I find out what version of Reader does Designer user for PDF preview?
If I separately download Acrobat Reader 7.0.5, how do I tell Designer to use that version for PDF preview?
    Thanks,
    Satish

  • Compatibility of adobe forms

I am a newbie to Adobe forms. We have a requirement in which we need to create forms and ask our customers to fill those forms. Most of the form elements would be long text fields for essay type questions , or simple text fields for (name, title, date etc). We are worried about the compatibility of these forms across different versions of Acrobat reader and different Operating systems (Mac, Windows XP , Vista, 7 etc). (We didn't have a good experience with PDF forms due to compatibility issues.)
Would you please advice on best practices? Points that we need to take care of. Does Adobe provides server to build forms for customer (based on their requirements?)
    thank you

    Hi,
Let me point you to the overview of Adobe FormsCentral and LiveCycle products:
    FormsCentral: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1413
    LiveCycle: http://www.adobe.com/products/livecycle.html
    LiveCycle Designer: http://www.adobe.com/products/livecycle/tools/designer.html
It depends on what kind of workflow you will have, FormsCentral will not provide you to customize the form server, whereas, LiveCycle will allow you to do so.
Based on your example (your first paragraph) you can try FormsCentral Web form, these are HTML forms and user will use common web browsers (for example, IE, Safari...etc) to fill out and submit their form.  As for FormsCentral PDF form, as long as you use Adobe Acrobat/Reader or mobile Reader in your form workflow then incompatibility issues should be very minimum.
I believe you could sign up as a free user to try the products out and see which one fits your needs best.
    Thanks,
    Lucia

  • Oracle Financials and Forms Applications Integration

    Hi All,
I am new to Oracle financials forums and i have few trivial questions. One of our customer has our forms application now the customer wants to integrate that with ORACLE Financials. Is it possible and if so how, please elaborate or help me with relevant links or examples, URL's, case studies from where i can pick some good approximation about integration.
Our application version 10g Forms application version - 10.1.2.3 running with 10g Database.
    1) How this can be done.
    2) Are there any past case studies with similar approach which was successfully implemnted.
    3) What are the restrictions if this cant be done.
My questions might be quiet trivial. I request the forum users to participate and discuss on this.
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for the documents.
Yes we have a product running with Forms 11g. So with your experience can you share similar documents or any notes which doesn't supports any of the forms features or compatibility issues which would arise while integrating. Though i understand this is a open ended question at this point in time, just want to grab the knowledge of PRO's like you on this subject. Hope you help me on this.

  • Developing Form Distribution for Clients

As a web developer, I've had good success developing an online form and distributing it via my own website.
However, I can't seem to figure out how to do this for my clients. The perfect scenario would be this:
I create an editable form named: AGREEMENT, and set up the distribution to manually send out the form and manually collect the responses. In the form, I create a submit button and put in my client's email address. (I enabled the Adobe extended features.) I would then send the AGREEMENT_distributed.pdf and the AGREEMENT_responses.pdf files to my client, which he would then save on his local hard drive. Then, whenever the client needed, could then send out the AGREEMENT_distributed.pdf in an email. His prospect would fill out the form, click the submit button, and the completed pdf would be emailed to my client. My client doesn't really care about the benefits of the AGREEMENT_responses.pdf file. He just wants an easy way to send out a blank pdf and received back a completed one.
The problems lies in the fact that the distributed.pdf file doesn't seem to work once it leaves my computer. I can't turn it over to him so that he can distribute. The error messages vary, from "file not encoded properly" to "inconsistent with this version of Acrobat".
How do I develop this for the client and turn it over to them?
    Many thanks,

You do not need different versions. However, you need to be sure that you create the form with backward compatibility to the earliest level you expect to be used. Also, there are differences between Acrobat created forms and Designer forms (obtained from the forms menu in Acrobat). If you use Designer, then you have eliminated editing in Acrobat.
If you expect more than 500 uses of the form by your website by users of Reader, then you need to negotiate with Adobe for the Reader rights. The EULA limits you to 500 saves of the form. It is normal for folks to submit form data by a web script. Since you are just developing the forms for clients, it may be their problem. If you will maintain the forms, you may need to address the license issue. The web submission (most reliable) by FDF or XML is the best way to go and does not require additional license approval beyond 500 (that is just for saving the form as required for submitting the full PDF).
If you receive either data formats, they can be opened in the form in Acrobat so you still have the complete form, but maybe with an extra step. However, you might find the data is easier to deal with for use in a database.
Back to the original: With each version of Acrobat, new form features have been added. You just need to avoid the feature that are AA9 specific. Also, you may want to use the reduce file size or PDF Optimizer (for Acrobat forms - not sure for Designer forms) to save for backward compatibility.

  • Adobe xi pro compatibility

I'm in a bind.  I created abut 15 forms but find compatibility issues with google chrome book...submit button will not work.  I need to find a list of compatible browsers and operating systems before invoicing my client.

As the free Reader cannot create forms, I think you are talking about Adobe Acrobat. If so, you should ask here:

  • Forms 6i, blocks and rowtype

Is there a way to base a block on a table or view and then reference the data locally via a %rowtype. If my block has 25 items and I want to have a database procedure do the updates to the table, I can create the procedure to accept the 25 columns as parameters, or I can pass in a pl/sql table or record. If I want to pass in a record or pl/sql table, what's the easiest way to populate the pl/sql table or record. Can I reference the table name via the %rowtype and access the local values?
    Thanks

I see some people talking about Forms 6i and SQL Plus crashing when connecting to a database:
APPCRASH Problem for plus80 and forms 6i builders
Forms Developer 6i will crash if you try connecting to a database running the AL32UTF8 character set. Older systems require the UTF8 character set.
Here are several very old threads with similar issues:

More info: In Windows 7, I am running Forms 6i WITHOUT compatibility mode set to XP. It all seems to be running fine. I have had no problems with it since I first installed last year.
Unfortunately, I don't have an Oracle 11 database available to try connecting to. I have only used this setup with Oracle 9 and 10 databases.

  • HD Digitizing and Editig - Requirements

    Hi,
I realize this is probably answered somewhere, so please forgive me for asking the same question twice. I am a production assistant at a film marketing company (so unfortunately, my technological understanding is limited), and would really appreciate some simple-to-understand advice.
My company normally works with Avid machines, but we have a Mac Pro (Dual-Core, not Quad) with FCP Studio 2 installed, and we are thinking of using this machine for our online editing needs (specifically – we usually create 2K trailers that we then deliver as DPX files for film outs). Our input material can come as DPX files on lacie drives or on HD-Cam (SR) tapes. We do not have an HD deck, so we would be renting this from a facility if we needed to digitize in HD tapes.
However, we are not sure if we need to make any hardware/software upgrades in order to edit at true HD quality and also to hook up an HD deck in order to digitize the material. I believe we also have Blackmagic software installed, but I’m not aware of the particulars. I can try to find out what are current software/hardware we have installed if that would be helpful.
Some people have suggested we might need to upgrade the following:
    -Graphics Cards
    -RAID
    -PCI Express Card
    -Capture Cards
Also, I saw something about I/O needs (SDI, Component, Firewire, Y/C, Break-out-box, direct connections), etc?
I realize it might be somewhat difficult to answer the question of “what should we do now?” but if you have any advice, I would greatly appreciate your help.
    Thanks!

If you intend to edit 2K then you're certainly going to need a large, fast storage system which usually means a RAID.
As you have Blackmagic software installed then you may already have a Blackmagic I/O card installed too (check the System Profiler app in your Applications/Utilities folder) though whether it is suitable for your specific needs depends on which card that might be. For 2K monitoring then you need something with some form of 2K compatibility, you need something that can either allow you to monitor directly at 2K or to downscale that image for standard HD (or SD) monitoring .. the AJA Kona LHe won't handle that task but a Matrox MXO2 LE or better will downscale some 2K resolutions for HD/SD monitoring, but I think your best solution for 2K workflows would likely be the AJA Kona 3.

  • How to create a Dynamic IAF in WD

    Dear all,
We'd like to create a dynamic interactive form based on a XDP in a WebDynpro application. How can we achieve this?
We tried to use setDynamicPDF() and setInteractive(), but it looks like ADS doesn't create a dynamic pdf.
Only the master page is being displayed.
Any ideas how to create a dynamic interactive form via ADS and how to determine if the pdf is a dynamic interactive form (in the browser).
    Kind regards,
    Noël
version info: Designer 7, NW SP15, Reader 7.0.7.

    Hello,
Use the following code to get a dynamic pdf document created in your <b>wdDoModifyView()</b> method. Make use of the firstTime flag there if required :
    <b>IWDInteractiveForm iForm =
    (IWDInteractiveForm)view.getElement("InteractiveForm1");
    iForm.setDynamicPDF(true);</b>
setDynamicPDF(boolean) nmethod has been deprecated in 04. Moving forward to 04s, you will have a different set of APIs to deal with such requirements. Hence the abiove mentioned method will be taken off with the next major release of NetWeaver.
<b>How do you know whether the pdf document created is static or dynamic ?</b> Well, save the form locally and open it in the designer. Go to File > Form Properties > <b>Compatibility</b> Tab. Check your <b>Form Type</b> there.
    Best Regards,
    Krish

  • How to download but not install OSX Mountain Lion on Mavericks

    Hi all
I would like to download but not install OSX Mountain Lion on my MBP which is currently running OSX Mavericks.
This however seems impossible. I think OSX Mavericks were already installed on my MBP and therefore it seems "impossible" to download it.
Now, why would I to do this? The answer is quite reasonable, due to certain demands related to an application portfolio I need Mountain Lion, because the portfolio is not upgraded to run on Mavericks. And, it is more reasonable to downgrade a version of OSX, rather waiting for the portfolio upgrade which can take years.
Yes, I need to downgrade my secondary MBP which also came with preinstalled Mavericks. This can be done, if I only could download but not install Moutain Lion.
It should be easy enough; download Mountain Lion, make an installer and make a bootable thumb usb stick. Then erase Mavericks and install Mountain Lion.
I have previously bought Mountain Lion so it is accessible to me in the App Store, but whenever I try to hit the Download button, I get a message saying this can't be done, since I am running Mavericks.
This bugs me, it should be obvious users needs the flexibility to swap whatever OSX version they need. It is still software.
So, how can I download but not install Mountain Lion on my newer MBP that came with preinstalled Mavericks?
I would like to see answers like:
"In order to get this to work, you first have to disable the locking mechanism in [...] " instead of "No, this is impossible to do"
    Regards

    Thanks for your reply Eric
Can't help wondering thought, people are ok with this?
Basically Apple are saying: "Do not attempt to install an older version of OSX which came preinstalled. If so, expect multiple failures." Really?! Has it always been so? For me it's not like I'm going to install Snow Leopard on my Late 2013 Retina MBP, but I would expect some form of backward compatibility between the previous version and it successor. Apparently this is not possible, and how is this even acceptable?
Personally, I am not going to downgrade, as if I had a choice, but I would and I expected however, the possibility to at least download the previous OSX version. What do you do if you have bought several applications, not necessarily online from App Store and buy yourself a new Mac with preinstalled Mavericks and after installing your "old" applications they fail to work properly? What do you do since downgrading apparently is not an option. So... again, what do you do?
If you don't have friends with an older Mac, you could be facing serious problems. And I'm not talking about gaming, but serious business.
I find this quite disturbing actually, and please tell me it's not so. There gotta be a way to do this?
I simply want to download the OS but I expect some registry values (like windows' registry) keeps preventing this.
It should be possible to simply download and not download and install in one operation, shouldn't it?
    Regards

  • Convert LiveCycle PDF to work in Preview-Mac OSX

I have a PDF form created in Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 9.0 and need it to be converted to open and work using a Mac.  Mac's built in PDF viewer is Preview. When I open this PDF in "Preview", I get the “Please wait…” message. But in Acrobat Pro this PDF open fine. Please suggest how we can open this in application "Preview".

A lot of times I find this in my opinion to be the fault of the form developer, not the software folks. There are many folks who get a new package like AA X and decide it is best to redesign all of the forms with this software, forgetting that many folks use prior versions of Acrobat/Reader/other viewer. They then expect everyone else to keep up with them. This is also a reason to stay with AcroForms in many cases rather than move to Designer forms. I see this move by form designers to be more of a problem than the software itself. It may be that the form developers should have saved the form for backward compatibility and that is the issue you are having. In fact, you indicated early on that the college upgraded their forms and I consider this short-sighted on their part (maybe you should tell them). I try to encourage folks around here to keep compatibility several versions back. When they do not, there are often folks who can not use the new form!
So, it is partly a software issue and also short-sightedness on the part of the form developer. The latter can get around the problem and chose not to (or maybe doesn't know how).

  • Problem with Repeating Subform bnot displaying

I have a reapting subform but when I use the addInstance or InsertInstance, it is not adding a row onto the screen.  I can see from the instanceManager.count that the number of rows has increaes but they are not visible.
    The Hierarchy is:
CreateMaterialForm - Subform Flowed, top to bottom    binding: $record.MaterialNode
==== ClassificationForm - Subform Flowed, top to bottom     binding: CLASS
======== ClassLevelForm - Subform Flowed, top to bottom , Repeat Subform, Min count 1    binding: CLASSTAB[*]
============ ClassLevelValue - Text Field     binding: VALUE
I only ever have the first row regardless of how many rows I add to the data structure at run time.    If I start the table with Min of 5, then the rows will be displayed as I add them to the data table.
How do I get the subform to expand to display the additional rows?   I have even tried placing a Button where the click event I did the AddInstance and sthat still did not add more visible rows.  It added rows according to the instanceManager.count.

    Hi Glenn,
Have you set the dynamic property of the form true?
Please write the following code in wddoModifyView mthod of the view:
      if(firstTime) {
        IWDInteractiveForm iForm = (IWDInteractiveForm)view.getElement("YOUR_FORM");
        iForm.setDynamicPDF(true);
    Also do the following:
In Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.1 you can discover whether your adobe form was created as dynamic. Open your created pdf file in LiveCycle Designer. Menu File -> Form Properties -> tab Compatibility, Form Type. There must be Acrobat 7.x Dynamic PDF Form File.
    Hope this helps.

  • Button click event is not working

    Hi All,
    I have a button and table in my Interactive Form(NWDS 2.0.18 & ALD 7.0).
When I click the button it adds new row in the table.
This functionality  is working fine in the PDF preview tab but when I
deploy and run the application it doesn't.
Please help me to solve this issue.
    Thanks
    Sundar

    Hi Sundar,
yes, this version support dynamic forms. In Adobe products, dynamic forms are supported from version 7.
In Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.1 (maybe in 7.0 too) you can discover whether your adobe form was created as dynamic. Open your pdf file in LiveCycle Designer, menu File -> Form Properties -> tab Compatibility, Form Type. There must be Acrobat 7.x <b>Dynamic</b> PDF Form File.
Which version of Adobe Reader do you use (you need version 7 or newer)?
Do you have enabled JavaScript in Adobe Reader? menu Edit -> Preferences -> tab JavaScript
Add a button into your adobe form. In click event write JavaSript, run at Client:
    app.alert("Viewer Type is "+app.viewerType+"nVersion is "+app.viewerVersion);
    Does it work?
