Forms calling an outside package/ procedure

I am calling from a FORM an outside package.procedure. I execute the package.procedure in debug outside the FORM. It executes fine, but not from the FORM.
HOw do I detemiine the cause of the problem from the FORM?
Thanks.

I resolved the problem. It was a priviledge problem. I needed to grant execute on the package.procedure.
Thanks.

  • XI calling an Oracle Stored Procedure which returns an Object to XI

    I am currently trying to call an Oracle Packaged/Procedure from XI which accepts a couple of parameters as I/O and returns an Object as one of the parameters.
    I have created the Object within the Oracle Database CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE xy_jdbc AS OBJECT
    column_name type ...etc
    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE xy_tab_jdbc AS TABLE OF xy_jdbc;
    One of the parameters for the stored procedure is set up as this type xy_tab_jdbc this will be populated based upon one of the parameters passed into the  Package/Procedure.
    Is this possible? If it is, how do I map the returned object within XI?

    Dear Hilary,
    the JDBC adapter does not support vendor-specific or non-scalar data types.
    Workaround: Change the stored proc's signature not to use an object, but the object's fields instead.

  • Oracle Package Procedures

    Hello all,
    Does Forte support the calling of overloaded package procedures in Oracle?

    As I remember Forte picks correct overloaded procedure if you specify all
    parameter names and qualifiers (input/output). This was the way it worked in
    R2. Never tested it in R3 though - it may have changed.

    Tim,
    The short answer is no. I had put in an enhancement request for this during
    Forte 3.0.G.2 release. I don't know the status of this now.
    Long answer: We faced the same issue when we Upgraded from Forte R2 to R3.
    If there is an overloaded procedure, Oracle returns a list of package
    specs. Forte picks one - I am not sure if it is the first or last. If it
    happens to be the one you are looking for, you will be lucky. Otherwise,
    you will get an exception.
    Our work around was to create a dummy procedure that calls the overloaded
    procedure. We call the dummy procedure from Forte.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to call reports 6i or forms 6i directly from oracle procedure

    Hi,
    Hi,
    Env: 6.0.8.25.2 (forms 6i/reports 6i)
    Database: Oracle 10g r2
    We are running a client server environment and not web based.
    I want to run the forms 6i or reports 6i directly from a database procedure/function and not by creating a procedure inside a form and then call a report.
    Looking for calling forms6i/reports 6i directly from sql*plus commands used inside the PLSQL database procedure/function. (Just like we create a stand alone package/procedure/function).
    I have developed many forms and reports and very comfortable in calling reports from forms 6i.
    My question was completely different but looks like i was not able to explain properly:
    I want to call the forms 6i or reports 6i directly from sqlplus* prompt and through stand alone oracle database procedure/function (procedure created directly in database but not as a program unit within form or report).
    There is a requirement to call the form through database scheduling by passing fixed parameters and then generate the report pdf and email automatically to various users.
    Also, is there any way to schedule a report automatically so that the report runs automatically in the scheduled time and send out reports to the users. I have developed a email program but looking for scheduling the report or forms 6i.
    Thanks,
    Srinivas

    Hi,
    There are couple of existing reports and forms developed in 6i and users are using them when required.
    For certain MIS reports, management wants them to be generated on daily/weekly basis and email to be sent to them as PDF files.
    Have a program which will convert to PDF and email to users but not able to trace on how to call the forms 6i or reports 6i and pass the report parameters so that the report is called directly through pl/sql so that i can schedule them.
    All the forms and report executables are located on server1 and database server is located in server2 and running on client/server architecture.
    Database version is 10g r2 and Forms/Reports version is 6i.
    Any code samples would be of great use.

  • How to see the packaged procedures in form builder?

    Hi Experts,
    I have a oarcle apps form in form builder.
    When i want to see the code behind the trigger when pressed button do ,i see that it calls a packaged procedure like
    oksaudet_header.when_button_pressed(p_item => 'STOP_BUTTON');
    I want to see beyond this ,so how to find out this package procedure oksaudet_header.when_button_pressed?
    if its any pll ,how do i know which pll will have this package?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    You just need to search for component OKSAUDET_HEADER in Forms Builder (use the 'Find' button). It will take you to the package, and above it you will find the attached library that contains it (if it's an attached library).
    Hope it helps.

  • How to make a dynamic function call from within a package procedure

    Hi:
    I need to call a function dynamically (name and parameters determined at run time, but return value is known:always an integer). I can build the call and place it in a dynamic sql using dbms_sql. But the function is inside a package and is not public.
    So, if I issue:
    dbms_sql.parse( cur,'SELECT '||call||' FROM dual', dbms_sql.v7 )
    where call is "DOS(234,'V')"
    I get:
    ORA-00904: "DOS": invalid identifier
    If I make the function ("DOS") public and "call" equals "pack.DOS(234,'V')", it works fine, but I don't want to make it public.
    Is there a solution?
    Thanks in advance
    RuBeck

    Hi, Kamal:
    Calling from outside of the owner package is not possible if it is not public.The calls are from inside the package. It looks like the dynamic select is executed "outside" the package, so the private function is unknown
    Make it available in the package headerLooks like it's the only solution
    How often this will be executed?This is a library for loading files into tables and executing dynamic validation procedures.
    Here's an example of the mechanics:
    create or replace package mypack as
         function one return number ; -- public function
         procedure execute_it( p_name VARCHAR2 ) ;
    end ;
    create or replace package body mypack as
    function one return number is
    begin
    return 1 ;
    end ;
    function two( i number, s varchar2 ) return number is -- private function
    begin
    return 2 ;
    end ;
    procedure execute_it( p_name VARCHAR2 ) is
    select_str VARCHAR2( 1000 ) ;
    v_num NUMBER ;
    cur NUMBER ;
    nf NUMBER ;
    begin
    select_str := 'SELECT '||p_name||' FROM dual' ;
    cur := dbms_sql.open_cursor ;
    dbms_sql.parse( cur,select_str,dbms_sql.v7 ) ;
    dbms_sql.define_column( cur,1, v_num ) ;
    nf := dbms_sql.execute( cur ) ;
    IF dbms_sql.fetch_rows( cur ) = 0 THEN
    RAISE no_data_found ;
    END IF ;
    dbms_sql.column_value( cur, 1, v_numero ) ;
    dbms_output.put_line( p_name||' returns '||v_num ) ;
    dbms_sql.close_cursor( cur ) ;
    end ;
    end ;
    begin
    mypack.execute_it( 'mypack.one' ) ; -- Call public function: Works fine
    mypack.execute_it( 'two(234,''v'')' ) ; -- Call private function: error 0904
    end ;
    Thanks for your hints

  • New Window for Form called from a form based on a procedure

    Hi
    I have a form that is based on a procedure that asks for an employee number. The number is then passed to the procedure. The procedure then calls the next form passing in the employee number.
    This works however I would like the form called from the procedure to open in a new window while still being able to pass in the employee number as a parameter.
    Is there a way to do this? I have tried looking at wwa_app_module.new_instance & wwv_media.show_newwindow but I these only take the moduleid, I can't see how to pass in the employee number at the same time.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Belinda

    Hi,
    You can pass parameters like this
    wwv_redirect.url('SJAYARAM_9042F.wwa_app_module.link?p_arg_names=_moduleid&p_arg_values=1060253649&p_arg_names=deptno&p_arg_values=10&p_arg_names=_deptno_cond&p_arg_values=%3d');
    In this example the parameter deptno is passed with a value 10 and conditional operator '='
    Hope that helps.
    Thanks,

  • How do I personalize a form to call a custom package instead of standard

    We are finding that the vertex tax package is not correctly calculating the taxes for AR late changes. The late payment charge invoices are being created without an item and we know that if we had this in there the taxes would be calculated correctly. We have a solution designed by a senior architect and would like to pursue that approach unless it has been established it is impossible.
    From the Batch maintenance form ARIINR.fmb there is a generate button. It calls some pl/sql and eventually the api to create the invoice. What we want to do here is from the when button pressed trigger call a custom package (with most of the same logic intact). The problem is is that we don't want to call both the custom and standard package, only the custom one.
    My question is really is there any way to avoid calling the standard package by exiting out of the trigger after the custom package completed? I know I could easily change the standard form to accomplish this but we want to accomplish this in such a way to still maintain our support with Oracle on this form. So we are looking to do this via a personalization or custom.pll change.
    Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks for your time.

    To my knowledge, both CUSTOM.pll and Forms Personalization execute code in addition to standard code, not instead off.

  • Calling a package.procedure that accepts a type table.

    I'm getting the error "Error(45,20): PLS-00330: invalid use of type name or subtype name" when I run the procedure SP when it calls the d.is_date procedure that accepts a table as the second parameter.
    below is the Abbreviated code for the package.procedures that contain the "is_date".
    I've tried several things and can't seem to get SP to compile.
    thanks.
    create or replace
    PROCEDURE SP AS
    valid_out boolean;
    date_out date;
    date_fmt_out varchar2(30);
    type Mask_Tabtype is
    table of varchar2( 30 )
    index by binary_integer;
    Fmts Mask_Tabtype;
    BEGIN
    Fmts( 1 ) := 'fxDD-MON-RR';
    Fmts( 2 ) := 'fxDD-MON-YYYY';
    Fmts( 3 ) := 'fxDD-MON';
    Fmts( 4 ) := 'fxMM/DD';
    Fmts( 5 ) := 'fxMM/RRRR';
    d.Is_Date( 'test', Mask_Tabtype, Valid_out, Date_out, Date_Fmt_out);
    END SP;
    create or replace package d as
    type Mask_Tabtype is
    table of varchar2( 30 )
    index by binary_integer;
    Fmts Mask_Tabtype;
    Procedure Is_Date( Value_in in varchar2,
    Tab in Mask_Tabtype,
    Valid_out out boolean,
    Date_out out date,
    Date_Fmt_out out varchar2);
    end d;
    create or replace package body d as
    Fmt_Count integer;
    Date_Val date := null;
    Date_Fmt varchar2( 30 ) := 'fxMM/DD/YYYY';
    Procedure Is_Date(value_in in varchar2, Tab In Mask_Tabtype,
    Valid_out out boolean, Date_out out date, Date_Fmt_Out out varchar2)
    is
    begin
    /* Logic here removed to make post smaller
    End Is_date;
    End d;

    Here...
    d.Is_Date( 'test', Mask_Tabtype, Valid_out, Date_out, Date_Fmt_out);you are passing in Mast_Tabtype, which is a type declaration, rather than a variable of that type.
    Try...
    d.Is_Date( 'test', Fmts, Valid_out, Date_out, Date_Fmt_out);

    Hi Experts,
    Can anybody suggest me the table/ a query to find the package/procedure/function calls (with in the same db or remote) done with in a package.
    It would be great if we can provide a tree like structure of the objects being called/used.
    btw.. dba_dependencies will provide me the info about the global procedures only not the local ones used with in the package body.
    Appreciate your time..

    11g I think provides some sort of fine grained dependency information which can detail packages, but prior to 11g you can only get dependencies on the database objects themselves of which functions/procedures within a package are not, as the package itself is the object.
    I don't think there's any easy way to find out from any tables or views and I think third party tools would have to parse the code to determine such things themselves, so that may be one of your only options.

  • Getting error calling a package/procedure from DB

    I'm on 11.1.1.6 and I'm trying to execute a procedure in a package in the DB my ADF application is connected to.  I get the following error  "Could not find saved view state for token".  If I comment out the execution of the method that is calling the procedure the error goes away.  The error shows up under the log for the application on the EM console.  The procedure does not get executed.  Can anyone tell me what it could be?  I am using the tool Oracle provided to gain access to the EBS database without using the apps password.  I wonder if that may be causing the issue?  Can it be related to a security or grant issue of some kind?  The package procedure is under the apps schema.

    Hi,
    I don't think that on this forum we know enough about EBS to be helpful with security privileges. But if you read this here ADF & Weblogic How To: TROUBLESHOOTING: Could not find saved view state for token ...
    then it seems that there are some sort of access problem

    Hello,
    It means that the user you are connected do not "see" this package.
    You'd probably have to connect as SYS or SYSTEM, then grant EXECUTE on this package to your user.

  • Packaged Procedures Usage in Forms

    I am intending to base some forms 6i on packaged procedures passing out pl/sql table of records. Will it be wise/useful to handle any errors (user defined possibly) within such procedures using a user defined error processing routine or RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR and pass such errors out using out parameters ? Or does one leave all error handling to the forms interface level e.g raise EXCEPTIONS
    using the WHEN OTHERS exception and RAISE FORM TRIGGER FAILURE ? I'm slightly in the dark here ?
    Regards
    laide

    You may want to use a combination of both. You if you have an error you may want to record where the error happened (in an error log) and then propagate the error up. If really depends on the type of error. If it is a failed validation then you may want to propagate. If it is an error your code can handle then pass a parameter.
    You may also want to consider the fact thatif you get and error and propagate it then it becomes harder or trace the source of the error.
