Forms Client Java Applet waiting several minutes
Hello,
We use Forms 10.1.2.0 and html/javascript/plsql applications.
All forms applications are working but
we have the problem that from time to time the client java applet must wait minutes until there is an answer from the forms-servlet (especially when there is high activity in the system).
More than one user is working in the form with high activity - the applet sends a request
over the network - after 4 minutes the result is shown and you can go on working
without problems.
So a lot of users think the application has crashed and terminate before.
The applet shows no error messages.
There is no sign that there is a lost connection between applet and servlet.
It is not reproducible. That means you can work 2 hours and everything is ok
or you work 5 minutes and you have to wait.
network problems?
firewall problems?
do requests of the forms servlet to the database have minor priority on the application server
than html/plsql requests?
any ideas?
when the problem occurs (user has to wait 3-4 minutes) we found in the log
3 heartbeats from the forms client within 2 seconds ?
after 3-4 minutes the forms client is ok (user can go on working)
and the pings are every 2 minutes (like it is expected).
The application.log file may contain duplicate posts requests with
identical pragma header numbers, indicating that the client
is resending
requests due to network packet losses. Under normal circumstances,
only the last Post request, terminating a Forms session,
should contain
a duplicate pragma header number.
...a network problem ?
anyone else who had the same problem ?

Since upgrading to LionEvery time I wake the computer from sleep mode I have to wait several minutes until the computer connects to the Internet
I have found that Lion is slower to connect to WiFi when awakening than were previous Mac OS X versions. However, the WiFi connection usually takes less than 15 seconds unless a Time Machine backup was interrupted when my computer was put to sleep. When this happens and the computer awakens, the Time Machine backup attempts to continue prior to the WiFi connection having been made. Until the Time Machine backup fails due to its inability to connect to my Time Capsule because of no WiFi connection, or I stop it manually, the WiFi connection will not occur. So if Time Machine backups are on, you may be experiencing this bug which I have reported to Apple.

Forms 10G - Java applet and Client Certificate
Hello,
I recently developed a servlet to read a client certificate on the application server.
I set the apache server to request a client certificate on launching.
Everything works fine.
Now, my customer wants to stop the application when the client certificate is removed (The client certificate is stored on a USB key).
After some tests, I realized that the client certificate is stored inside the java Apllet cache;
In other words, the Certificate is removed from the browser store (as expected) but not from the Applet store.
So my question is, Is it possible to configure Java applet not to keep certificate in cache ?
Or is it a way to force Applet to synchronize with the certificate store of the browser ?
thanks in advance for your help.Thank you very much for your link...i saw there that you had the same problem. My question now is if Frank ( i know him from the Forms Forum :)) did tell you about working with the embedded server starting it as an external OC4J instance.
If he did please tell me also. i am interested in that because i havent heard of any patch on JDeveloper 10g on this matter.
All the best -
User must wait several minutes before NEW opportunity shows up in report
When a user creates an opportunity, they will then add product revenue to it. After that, they need to run a report of the opportunity and send the quote to the customer.
The report will prompt for the opportunity name and then retrieve the formatted quote form.
The issue is, after the opportunity is created and product revenue added, when the user tries to run the report, the data selection will not display the opportunity. The opportunity will not show up until after the user logs out and then back into CRMOD.
EDIT: The log out/in portion was just a coincidence and plays into a delay in some sort of background processing problem.
If the user just waits , up 15 to 20 minutes in some cases, the opportunities will show up in the list. Sometimes, they appear very quickly, other times it take a very long time.
I am surmising that this has to do with some sort of business function that runs in the background, and being a shared system, there is a backlog in the processing. Similar to the wait queue for data imports.
Is this normal behavior?
Edited by: nsidev on Aug 28, 2009 1:59 PMHi, I think the problem is with the drop down prompt not getting refreshed with newly added opportunities, otherwise with the direct reports clicking the "rerfresh" link brings the newly created opportunity. The problem also doesnt seem to happen if the prompt is of type "Browse through choices and/or type in directly "

Forms 9i Java applet documentation
Hi,
coul some one please point me to the documentation of the Forms 9i applet (public methods etc.). I have to communicate with the Forms applet from an other applet and can not seem to find any information on this.
Thanks,
Tamas SzecsyYes:
Create a PJC that listens on a particular Socket.
Create an applet to run in the same browser that does expose a public method, which takes the value passed into the public method and throws it down the socket to the PJC which dispatches the value back into Forms.
It is possible :-) -

Just a few of the types of errors collected.
It is getting to be a pain to have to sit and wait until it is responding again. At that point the cursor is locked on to what ever it is sitting over. You have to click on it to release it.
Anyone have any ideas.Glad it is fixed. Thanks for posting back, (even if we are not sure exactly what happened).

Can we run java bean from forms client server??
Hi,
The OLTP application we are planning to build has lot of gui e.g
tabs, drag and drop etc. Our aim is to make it web enabled but
the network bandwidth available is small 16 - 64K . So even
thoughwe plan toi use applet , we seriuosly doubt how good it
will perform on such low network bandwidth. [The system will
have 100 users]
Q1. What will be a reasonable bandwidth to run an oltp
application (say maintenance )
Hence we are thinking of developing with developer 6i and
deploying our application in client server mode, which can
easily be web enabled in future. But we also have to integrate
visual interfaces like gantt chart, which are not available with
forms. We plan to use third party java component (e.g ILOG
jviews), so that in future we can easily web enable the entire
application.
Q2. Can we run forms with java bean in client server mode? If
not, what are the products to be installed on each machine to
run it without using 9ias?
best regardsYes. We can run sql loader from client machine.
C:\Karthik>sqlldr user/pass@database data='test.csv' control='test.ctl' log='test.log' bad='test.bad'
You can go through the following link for better understanding.

Hi there
I have recently installed App Server 10.1.2.0 on a new machine.
Copied all my forms to an appropriate directory. Set up formsweb.cfg to allow them to run and have attempted to run them.
Unfortunately I get stuck at the Loading Java Applet screen, and in the status bar at the bottom it says :
load: class oracle.forms.engine.Main not found
I have taken a look at the Java Console, and the 2 things that jump out at me are that it appears to be looking for a forms90 directory, which seems odd since I am using App Server 10.1.2.0.2 and Forms Builder 10.1.2.0.2 meaning it should be looking in a forms directory not forms90 directory shouldnt it ?
And also, it mentions class with no proxy, so on looking around the forums it has been suggested that put the proxy details into jinitiator, which I have done, but this has made no difference either.
Can anyone suggest anything else please ?
Java Console log follows.
Thanks a lot

Forms for Web: To Java Applet or Not To Java Applet?
As I understand it, the only way to get a forms application onto the Web is to utilize the forms server and the Java Applet UI client. I was wondering if people had any issues with the fact that the only deployment method is a Java Applet? Have any of you avoided forms because of this? Are there any options for getting forms into HTML?
Thanks in advance,
ArmeenPlease check SAP Note 2156305.
You can re-enable NPAPI with the following URL: chrome://flags/#enable-npapi and then click on "Enable" for the NPAPI plugin. -
hi there,
I'm new to programming applets (but not new to java and gui programming).
Here's my question:
I would like to use a java applet with a textfield as form input. is this possible?
I see some several advantages over using standard html textfields and java script. (f.e.: I can set the cursor to any position after changing the text in the field).
I'm thinking on a solution by my own. Would it be possible to use a java script method to access a property from the applet? so I could use a combination of java applet, html and java script. On the onClick() event I read the actual value from the applet and do some normal post request. Any better suggestions?
thx
soaI want to write the textfield in java. So I use the applet as form.
What would be your suggestion?
Write an applet with an textfield and and getValue() method? So I could create a normal html button and use javascript to write a method wich acces this getmethod. So I could register this method to the onClick() event. -
Bought Premier Elements 13 yesterday. EVERY time I try to open a set of clips with Editor, I am told I have to sign into my Adobe first. I do this and wait for several minutes for the password dialogue box to open, enter my password. then wait and wait until my pw is recognized. Accept agreement. Agreement screen disappears and I'm back where I started. Try to open video clips with editor again and get the same demand to log in. Please advise asap. thx

Please do not duplicate a thread. The threads are answered as soon as possible. We are not Adobe. Just user to user.
I have answered your most recent of the duplicates
Premier Elements 13 Organizer Works. Editor doesn't. Log in doesn't work
It is uncertain just how far we can go to help you since you do not appear to have Premiere Elements any
longer.Seems you demanded a refund from Adobe Chat, got it, and now are left with a non purchased program which I
am not sure can be used.
Duplicates tend to confuse the person asking the question as well as those attempting to reply. As I suggested in the
above mentioned thread, try to sort out your situation with Adobe via its Adobe Chat.
