Forms don't submit data

Acrobat 8 Professional on Mac OS X 10.4.11.
A form I created in Acrobat does not transmit the data in the form fields when e-mailed vie the submit button. The artwork - created in Illustrator - arrives, but the fields are empty.
This form is intended to be integrated into a web page via inline frame. It works properly but when I click on the submit button and the form opens in Mail, the fields are empty.
It prints properly, from Acrobat as well as from Safari when integrated into a web page.

Not initially. But I did after I read your reply. It didn't make a difference, though, and I would have been if it did since I have only Acrobat Professional installed and not the reader. So it's actually Acrobat what's running in the browser window.
The data doesn't even show when I open the document in Acrobat and select "Attach to E-mail" from the File menu. It's only visible when I open and fill out the form in Acrobat or in the browser.

Contact Form - mx:ComboBox/ Submit data not label

Hello all,
     First off I am new to Flex and have searched far and wide for the past couple of hours now for an answer to this question. How would you send the data to an email address and not the label (But maintaining the label posted inside the form)? I found some great tutorials on creating a general form for example the one at RIA Codes and the one posted Trap17.com, both are great for a general form.
     But, lets say if you go along with the tutorial and want to add a combo box that selects the person you would like to email, without displaying the email address. Lets say we add-on a combobox to the RIA Codes tutorial, in order to select who the email will go to. This is what I have below and it works, just it keeps putting in the label in rather than the data (in Bold Below). Granted, I could just change the labelField="@label" to labelField="@data" but this would display the email address, which I do not want.
     Essentially I am trying to figure out a way to show the Persons Name and not the email in the contact form, but when you submit the form it would post the data (containing the email) and not the label (containing the Person's Name), so that the php would show something like this $sendToEmail = $_POST['recieverEmail']; and send the email. Thank you in advance for your help on this.

Your labelField should be set to '@label' in order to to display the
name of the person in the ComboBox, but in your form submission method
you'll need to use the ComboBox's selectedItem property to extract the
email adress of the person that was selected.
So instead of the line:

Forms don't submit when mixed w/ Javascript

I have a problem with a JSF application
I have a JSF form with a number of text fields (h:inputText) and text areas. None are set to be required and all use the default validators, converters, etc. Each text element is bound to a String property of a backing bean. All works fine under 'normal' conditions. I submit the form, the values are all set on the backing bean, all is well.
Next to one (or more) of the textfields, however, there is a "Select..." button (h:commandButton) with a javascript call on the 'onmousedown' event that launches a new window (this is a slightly modified version of the example found at http://forum.exadel.com/viewtopic.php?t=559 by Sergey Smirnov). The selected value in the popup window is used to set the value on the original form text field. Then the original form can be submitted.
When I use one of these buttons to launch a new window (pop-up) with a JSF-based select list in it, I get unusual behavior. The syptoms I see are:
1. If the popup list itself submits and refreshes (such as in the case of an indexed list, and the user selects a new index) the value is set properly on the 'opener' form, but when I submit the 'opener' form, the value reverts back to its previous (before the pop-up was launched) value.
2. Especially with more than 1 pop-up on a form, I often see the case where I submit the form, and it simply refreshes itself, and all values are cleared from the form elements. My ActionListeners and other action events are never invoked. No messages are sent back to the page via the faces context. I get no notification of what went wrong.
3. The behavior I get is hit or miss, sometimes it works well, other times it never works.
4. Strangely, it seems that if I click more slowly, things tend to work better more often. Rapid clicking seems to make the failure much more likely.
The Button looks like this:

The javascript showList() method registers the html components itemValue, itemId, and itemTypeId for callbacks, and launches a window using a pre-defined href value. Inside this window is a JSF page that lists all of the available items as h:commandLink objects. When one of the links is selected, the pop-up window calls a javascript function on the 'opener' window to set the itemValue, itemId, and itemTypeId values according to the selected item.

A javascript function in the chooser.jsp calls back and update() method, which sets the values on the name, id, and typeId form elements. All this works fine.
It's AFTER all this, when I submit the form on the original page, that I get the errors.
I suspect that somehow with more than 1 window open, I've managed to confuse the Faces navigation and view management - does anybody have any insights to help me solve the problem?
Also, how can I better debug what is happening on the server when my action listener is never getting invoked?

This is just a shot in the dark, but have you tried switching to client-side state saving?
When you use server-side state saving, the JSF RI only keeps the state for one view around. If your pop-ups are created by JSF views, popping up one of them detroys the state for the main view on the server, which could cause the effects you describe. Switching to client-side state saving should solve this, because then the view state is held as hidden fields in each form instead, and hence, can't be destroyed.

Acrobat 7 Pro - form won't submit via email, and data won't submit either

Hi. I am trying to create a form for end users at my website to be able to open the form in Reader, enter their data in the form, and click on the "Submit" button to email it back to me (or any other way it can come back would be okay... as long as I can get the data).
In doing some research on program software needed to do this, I came to the conclusion I needed to have the Adobe suite (Acrobat Pro 7, Distiller 7, and Designer 7), and so I spent a lot of money obtaining this software. I also have just downloaded Reader 9.0 (the most recent).
Here are some particulars:
1. Following directions Ive found on Adobe online, and the Help files as well as in this forum, in the form (in Designer), I have the Submit button going to a URL of mailto:[email protected].
2. I've saved the form as a Static PDF Form File in Designer. Things are going well.
3. The form works great in PDF Preview all form fields are setup and act correctly. Super!
4. I FTP my file to the appropriate website, where once the link to the form is clicked the form opens (in Reader) for my users. Perfect!
5. The user then opens the form, and before they start to fill it out, a popup shows this:
Sending Data Fields By Email. Please note: This form contains an email submit button. Clicking this button will email a data file containing data you type into this form. However, the form itself will not be sent. Remember, you cannot save a completed copy of this form with Adobe Reader 9
Then you have the option to Dont show again and a button to Close.
6. After clicking Close, the user is then able to fill in the fields. These fields are standard fields, nothing exceptional, nothing fancy, just text.
7. At the end of the form is the Submit button. When a user clicks this, NOTHING happens. Even when you try to do the File/Send thing, the form will send, but none of the data. Im not so happy right now L
8. In this forum, I now see directions to Reader Enable in Adobe Pro (I do have Adobe Pro). The directions say Advanced/Enable Reader (as in one of the above posts is stated, 'Advanced > Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader'). However, I do not have an Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader under my Advanced tab. So, continuing to read in other similar posts, I find others dont have this option either so, one question is, where is it??? ;-)
9. Now I see what appears to be another piece of Adobe software that I need, that is LiveCycle? I think Im getting in over my head, as I dont understand
I am new to all this, and am doing my best, but now Im totally confused. All I want to do is have my measly little form open up and have people fill it in and email it back to me so that I can take that data and work with it.
I run (or am trying to run) a non-profit (i.e., Im paying 100% of the bill) website for local Humane Societies who can facilitate offering online Adoption Applications (this is the form Im trying to make happen). I got the form made, and its fillable its just not being able to be submitted online; and when it DID get submitted (first try or so), it came through with no data, and the .xml file data wouldnt populate.
Bottom line question: Is this, what Im trying to do, feasible or not? Im just a simple soul trying to help out some animals. Im not a programmer, so if thats what it takes I guess Im gonna have to give up and forget it. I only wanted to help make things easer for folks to adopt a pet.

I've already spent several hundred dollars on getting Adobe Acrobat software, and was hoping there was some work-around on this? What did people do before LiveCycle for instance when they needed to get data from submitted forms via email?
Please don't misunderstand, but as in my example described above, what can a 3rd party do for me (to enable more 'robust rights') that I can't do myself? I'm trying to figure out if I have the software to do it, paid for the software that is "supposed" to do it, why then I need to pay more money to someone else to make the software do what it's supposed to? I sure don't want to have to pay someone to fix it each time I need to make a change in my form for instance...
I'm confused I guess - I suppose the purpose of my asking on the forum here was to hopefully gain some know-how as how to go about doing this myself vs. paying someone else to do it for me. I want to learn, but just don't know where to start. Or, maybe the software I have just doesn't do what I believed it was capable of doing?

Connect to the database and execute four SQL INSERT/UPDATE statements as a single unit of work. The fact that you have one form shouldn't be an issue.
I'll bet you're having trouble because you haven't layered the problem either in code or in your mind.
I'd recommend that you write a POJO to take in some objects and execute the SQL. Once you have that running successfully you can worry about the form. Decouple the two.

PDF flyer with attached Data Form how do i upload pdf and submit data simultaneously?

Scenerio user downloads pdf flyer template with attached data form. user customizes flyer and fills out form. user clicks on custom "Submit" button to send form data to php form.
On submit, how can i upload the pdf flyer to our server AND still send the form data to php form?
maybe the local file(pdf) address is sent to the php form along with the form data, then i can use php to upload the file automatically.
any sugguestion???

Hi Mr AP,
are you trying to do this in Reader or in Acrobat? If you're using Reader it won't work unless the form is reader-extended by either LC Reader Extensions on the server or by running it through Acrobat manually and extend the capabilities of the form for reader users (careful - the license of the latter is limited to 500 form recipients).
If you did try it in Reader with a non-extended form the behaviour you'd see is that it just won't work, so that might be your issue.

I believe my it guys have php on their server. When I look on the internet
to try and use the form to test it, I get the error:
The website cannot display the page
HTTP 500
Most likely causes:
The website is under maintenance.
The website has a programming error.
What you can try:
Refresh the page.
Go back to the previous page.

We would like a form to display the following information:
Employee Names as the columns, 1 row for each calendar day, and each item in the block containing the total sales amount (and other information) for that employee for that day.
This would require the block to function as a (composite) crosstab report.
Here is an example:

We have a table with records of each day, for each employee, and their sales for that day.
There is a possibility our list of employees can change as well as the number of days.
Anyone tried doing anything like this with a form? We don't want to just embed a report because we would like to include other data as well besides what is mentioned above and we would like them to be able to change some of that data. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have a VERY similar problem where I want to have this matrix on the form with six days worth of data (three columns for each day) for my data table. I have done as Momen has suggested and created a view (using SQLPLUS):
create table weekdays (weekday varchar2(3), date_x date);
drop view employee_absences_v;
create view employee_absences_v as
select weekday,
absence_date,
hours,
absence_code_lvid,
adjustment_status_lvid
from employee_absences ea, weekdays wd;
that hopefully provides a row for each day of the week for my data table. The view is created OK but I'm not sure how to get it into the form properly. Also, I am using the form to CREATE rows in the data table not just SELECT and DISPLAY and there may or may not be a row of data for a corresponding day which is going to be a problem for me using this view method, I think. Let me know how this goes and if you get your form to work and how? Momen, your method appeals to me but it's not 100% clear how to get it to work in a form?

Form with HTTP Submit.. Do I need a Guided Procedure ? How to Configure it?

Hi masters.
I have a adobe interactive form with HTTP submit, it works when it runs online, but when I save the pdf file, open, fill and submit, the server does not recieve any request.
I have read a lot of tutoriais but I still haven´t find a specific tutorial from the begin to the end of this process.
Should I create a Guided Procedure to recieve this form from http submit ? How can I create it ?

Regardless of whether this bar is displayed or not, you should be able to access what is in the "Favourites" folder in a few ways.
Firstly via the Bookmarks link in Safari. This is the first icon directly to the right of the address bar. Pressing this will open your Bookmarks menu. If you see the word Bookmarks in blue select this and it will take you to the main bookmarks page, and the word Bookmarks will appear in black bold text. If you see Bookmarks in black bold text when first clicking Bookmarks you are where you need to be. The first link on here will be Favourites and have a star icon right next to it, click on Favourites and you will see what has been added to your Favourites folder - if anything. Also there is an Edit button in the bottom right of this screen, if you aren't going where you expected when selecting a URL in here press Edit, press the > arrow to the right of the favourite name, is the URL correct? If not change it, and click DONE on the keyboard - appears where Return key normally shows on the right-hand side.
If you are opening Safari and have no tabs already open or have already closed pages so none are open you will see icons that represent the contents of your Favourites folder displayed at the top of the page.
Also with a page loaded if you click in to the URL field then you will see these icons appear again, together with the keyboard at the bottom of the page.

How to submit data from multiple Input Ports in single SUBMIT button click

I am in SPS8.
What exactly steps I need to perform to submit data from multiple Input Ports.
I couldn't able to submit One input Form and one Input Table to BAPI data service in single SUBMIT button click.
I debugged the VC application in SPS8.
While debugging, I found that when I click the SUBMIT button in the Input Form, Only data in that Input
form are being passed to the BAPI, But not the Table Form data.
If I click on the SUBMIT button in another Input Table, Only data from that table is being passed to the BAPI, but not the Input form data.
Essentially I need to submit both of them in one SUBMIT button.

From the word document that you sent to me the steps you are missing to map the appropriate information into the BAPI is first you are not mapping all data rows into the table input port. To do this double click on the input table view and change your selection mode from single to multiple. Then when you click on your link between the BAPI and your input table you will see a new option appears under data mapping "Mapping Scope" select All Data Rows.
That's the first part of the problem to get the BAPI to recognize both the inputs coming from the form and the table eliminate the submit button from the form. Drag and drop a link from the output port of the table view to the Input port of the BAPI. Double click on the link between the BAPI and the table view and open the expressions editor for the two fields:
1/ Automatic Source
2/ SKIP_ITEMS_WITH_ERROR
On the hierarchical folder structure on the right expand expand the Data Fields node to find the fields from the form and map them accordingly.
Now when you hit the submit button on your table it should pass the BAPI all the parameters from both the form and the table.

Collapsed Tabular Form Heading when "No data found".

The ' Collapsed Tabular Form Heading when "No data found" ' problem (speculated to be bug 9893564) is discussed here: {message:id=4419231}. Warning link is out of date. I'm still seeing it in APEX 4.2.
I support Kelly's comments "looks like something is broken" and "Now this header (which is sized smaller before data is retrieved) comes between the search items and the help message and looks clumsy.".{message:id=9185914}.
Any suggestion to get around it when no data is found?
1) Is there a way to hide the header when there is no data? Or,
2) Is there a way to adjust the width of the columns if the header must display? I'd like them to be about what they are when data is displayed. I know those lengths but not how to affect the header width for a tabular report with no data.

Firstly, with Aljaz's approach you can see a flicker as the tabular form is actually rendered and then hidden when the script in the footer is eventually run. This will be more apparent with a longer or more complicated page where it takes longer to reach the script and more content needs to be adjusted following removal of the form. Reversing the logic and hiding the form using CSS in the page header prevents this as the form elements are initially created as hidden nodes in the DOM before any of the page is rendered.
More important is that this approach applies the principles of the separation of concerns and unobtrusive JavaScript. At some point when developing in APEX you're going to find yourself seriously losing your cool in a situation where you know the app is executing some JavaScript, but you can't find where that script is defined (maybe you've already been there). Look at the page 2 definition using the tree view: where's the JavaScript that is going to run? Now look at page 1: ah, there are a couple of dynamic actions...
APEX now includes a lot of containers specifically for JavaScript: File URLs, Function and Global Variable Declaration and Execute when Page Loads in page templates and page headers, and declarative and custom Execute JS Code Dynamic Actions. These provide for good separation of concerns: we should use these locations for JS code, and avoid the exasperation of hunting through templates, page/region headers/footers, page 0 regions, pre-/post-element text or wherever to find the script we can see in the page source or JS debugger.
Aljaz's solution also depends on detecting the presence of the No Data Found message with class <tt>nodatafound</tt>, and on modifying the Add Row button.
What if someone changes the class of the No Data Found message in the report attributes? The Exists... condition on the dynamic action performs this check in a more direct way (although it's not ideal: DRY is violated by having both 2 copies and 2 executions of the report SQL; nor is it reusable on other form regions).
Modifying the Add Row button JavaScript directly is intrusive. Like footers and templates, it's another non-obvious location for JS customisation. By using a dynamic action to bind another click handler to the button we're making the modification more obvious, and more importantly we don't have to modify what it's already doing—or in this instance, even care what that is (in other circumstances we might need to change the order or propagation of events, or suppress the original behaviour).
As for reusability, my original solution didn't really consider this (as it wasn't mentioned in the OP). Since the subject has been raised, and in accordance with my comments above, I'd approach it in a different way.
As discussed, I suggest not squirrelling JavaScript away in region templates. I'd create a reusable report template for tabular forms rather than a region one. A <tt>class</tt> defined on the report container there will provide a more direct selector for hide/show behaviour. I'd stick to initially hiding this report via CSS, and use dynamic actions defined on the global page to conditionally show it on page load and bind show behaviour to the Add Row button click. To make these DAs reusable I'd remove the Exists... condition from the first one and replace it with a JS condition that checks to see if the tabular form report contains any visible data rows (the class on the report template will help there as well). Binding the show behaviour to the Add Row button would use the <tt>onclick</tt> attribute as a selector (rather than an ID selector that requires an intrusive edit of the button) so that all Add Row buttons would be affected: <tt>$('button[onclick^="apex.widget.tabular.addRow"]')</tt>.

I tried the technique used to adjust column width on other reports but when I use "div," it makes the data in that column display only. I really want to adjust the width of the individual column header. Is there a way to do that?I'm not really clear what you're asking here. (Use "div"? Where? How?)
To control the width of individual report column headers, use the following CSS:

After dropping your button on your form, change the button type to submit, not regular. You'll then have a submit tab where you can set the URL etc.

Shared Svcs Security to "Submit" data via Excel

Hello all,
What are the security provisions necessary for the user to use the Submit data function through SmartView in Excel? I've set up Enable write back to Excel, but that didn't seem to do the trick. I'm just looking for the bare minimum.

You really must consider them together, unless the user has the appropriate security class assigned and the write acces to it, the role will not do much. If you have no security classes and no Process Management. Bare bones should be Default Role and Load Excel Data, the rest of the roles are not related to data loading through excel, they are related to consolidation, JE's, I/C, workspace. If the user is using a webform to load data via excel then he/she will need Data Form Write back from Excel, but if the user is using formulas, the only the two above and the appropriate security levels should do the trick.
