Forms-need re-editable PDF and download

We are looking to create re-editable forms for our students to update each semester (PDF printable style) but would also love to have results downloaded to a spreadsheet. We have Lifecycle and Adobe Pro X and can get Adobe Pro XI. I'm not terribly technical and have questions.
1. Can we do the above with Prof X as well as XI?
2. Can a form be both PDF style and still be embedded or share in email/on the web with the results also downloadable?
3. Must we view downloadable results on Adobe's website? Can we upload or copy and paste the result to an external spreadsheet (ex: Excel)?
2. We already have the forms in Lifecycle. If we don't want redo our forms, is there a way to "program" Lifecycle so that the results download. We heard the Lifecycle forms can be revisited and edited by the user. I hope this is correct.

There may not be anything that can be done for this. Here's how things work:
When you view a report in Rich Client, everything is processed inside Rich Client which does a couple of things:
1. Renders the pages as HTML instead of converting to Excel or PDF.
2. Shows the first page as soon as it's ready, even though it may be processing the rest of the pages. This is part of why you see the report so quickly.
When you export a report through code, not only does the code have to take the time to convert the report to a different format, it has to render ALL of the pages in the report prior to the export. This is the part that is probably taking longer.

From this conversation's thread it appears that Acrobat is not the application / service at issue.
As this user forum has as its focus "Acrobat" it seems that the OP is in the wrong place.
Acrobat's one click send feature provides the user a "draft" email. The user still has to process ("click") through steps with the email client/service to actually get the email out and on its way.
I'm sure that "one click" does everything is available somewhere. Considering all it'd have to do and do right it'd be rather expensive.

Acrobat 9 Pro: Order Form, need SUM=blank? and not $0.00 (HELP!!!)

I know this might be an easy question for people with javascript knowledge.... but I can't get this working... please help!
I need Order Form total field (sum) to default to blank (instead of $0.00).
*example: Under >calculate I am using "simplified field notation" and (Qty1)*7.95 -- sum appears in "total 1"
The unit price is $7.95 - The value of Qty1 = total 1 (calculations are working fine)
Currently all total boxes read as $0.00 --- I need SUM to be blank until a customer selects a quantity
How can I make the SUM default to blank? and NOT $0.00 - Is it a validation script??? If so, please help with code!!!

PS - SUM fields can't be set as non-printing, because Shipping Dept./Accounting Dept. needs ability to print and view totals (if amount is selected - otherwise it could be blank).

I tried the validation script, and as you indicated, the only way the total field (with the validation script) appears blank is AFTER the Reset button is clicked. (However I have not checked this in a reader)
I can't see how I can make it work in that manner. Customer inputs Billing & Delivery Addresses at top, then proceeds to select products. If the reset button has to be pressed, all the data (ie. addresses) are removed.
If there was a way to apply the reset function automatically at the opening of the pdf doc. then it would achieve the result I need. I wonder if there isn't a way with a check box at the top that customer clicks which would apply the reset function.
If you (or anyone) has any further tips or help I would appreciate it. This is the last item the client has requested for change.
PS. In case anyone can think of a print script to use... The sum value, when =0 (no qty) needs to print blank sum fields (not $0.00) BUT if there is a sum value, the amount must print (for Ship/Acct Depts)
*** I just thought of something... The only time where the sum value needs to be blank is when customer prints and inputs data by hand.... so, would there be a way to add a print button that can also clear the sum values at the same time with the "reset" function and the validation script???

Printing large pdf and download to power point error message

We ran into the issue that we get an error message when printing to pdf or download to power point, the report is very big.

On the internet, i thougt i found a solution and set this

Two issues with firefox (pdf and downloads)

Hi,
two points bother me since a long time:
1. Reading pdf: In most cases I'm unable to read pdf-files in the browser. When I click on a link to a pdf a new tab opens and firefox loads. After some seconds the statusbar says finished (? in German it's fertig) but the window stays empty. Switching thorugh the tabs and back to the pdf results in not seeing anything but the last active tab.
I already went to the preferneces and changed the pdf viewer for "\application\pdf" from acroread to evince but this didn't solve the problem.
I'm on x86_64 so I have installed lib32-acroread from AUR. Currently I have to save the pdf and because of issue #2 I have can't open it directly and some for some pdf in the web this isn't possible.
2. Downloads: Both, double click on the downloaded file and chosing "open containig folder" don't do anything. I tried the suggested sulution here but with no success: http://rubylution.ping.de/articles/2007 … nder-linux

Unfortunately there is no "save as.." in their online service.
These instructions may give back the right-click "Save Page as..." menu.
From Preferences select the Content tab and have the Enable Javascript button checked (true). Then click on the button labeled "Advanced..." From the next box that opens, uncheck "Disable or replace context menus."
I run with all the boxes unchecked and have "Open new windows in a new tab instead" set, so I almost always have the full Firefox menus available. There are a few web pages that still defeat this setup partially -- some images won't save.

Can i view and edit PDF and .DOC file on iphone?

Actually I got 2 question to ask,
firstly have anybody got any luck to view PDF and .DOC file on Iphone because i have been trying for aged but there was no luck for me. I'm not talking about went to a email that contain a PDF or .DOC file but something like going to a website that let me able to download a PDF/.DOC. When I tried to download the file, safari keep saying that "It can not be download"??
secondly, when is that going to be available to install third-party application to iphone such as Skype, IM+..

Need data edit,update and delete in the gridview

Hi friends,
I am facing a common problem which everyone already faced but I need to know is there anything new comes with this issue?
My problem is I want to Edit, Update and Delete data in gridview in multiple column. I can do the edit , update,cancel and delete but what I want is I dont want this button to perform this. I mean when I load data in gridview the data will show in edit mode
and when I edit any dat, the update will occur instantly in the sql server database.
Is there anything new development comes? whatever it is if its ajax or java script or something else please give me detail.

Is there any way to edit a pdf and save the update info, such as who and when updated the file?

In connection to this, does anyone know how to get the attached file to automatically update the linked to the pdf. Or even open the attached file without being in read-only.

Need to add print and download options for report in new window

Hi,
On one of the columns empid of the report1 (which is on the dashboard) , I am using navigation and pointing it to report2.
Report1 has all the links, print, download and refresh (I enabled them using the section properties) but when I click on empid and it takes me to report2, then I don't see any links under that report. I want to include print and download links for report2 when it opens in the new window.
I know, one way is to embedd that report in the dashboard page and hide it, but is there any other way of doing it?
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Editing PDF and keeping file size small

We are having lot of difficulties in keeping the PDF file small after editing. Our PDFs have text and fields and are used in a browser. They need to be updated multiple times a year to reflect change in text.
PDF was created from MS Word 2010 using Acrobat X.
Word had only Arial and Verdana fonts.
When PDF was created from word, settings were set to "Never Embed" fonts. Till this point, all seems fine.
Now, the moment we try to edit text (even add a letter), PDF prompts that fonts may be embedded and file size increases by 20-30KB.
Checking File-Properties-Fonts show that font has changed to "Arial, Bold Type: True Type (CID), Encoding: Identity-H". Before editing, font type was not CID.
Under Optimization, there is no embedded font and we unchecked “subset all embedded fonts in optimization”. Save the file.
Still File size is higher by 10k-20K - though only one word was added.
Questions:
How to avoid font type CID getting added automatically by Acorbat? It seems it takes more space and we don't need it. We couldn't find a way to remove/replace it.
How to keep the file size not increasing much? Every time we edit with only few words added and do optimize, etc. still file size increases by 10-20 KBs.

As these PDFs are used as electronic agreement forms and have fields/Javascript, recreating them from word requires lot of work. We do understand if there are substantial changes then we should recreate from word as PDF is not designed for major editing. However, in most cases we are trying to edit few lines of text and still file size is increasing by 10-20K.
We have tried Save As but so far optimization option gives us better results in terms of reduction in file size.
We do use common fonts - like Arial, Verdana, Times New Roman. We understand that we should embed uncommon fonts but we avoid uncommon fonts as embedding increases PDF file size.
CID is coming up even when common font like Arial is being used.

I need to edit pdf's that I have created in zipforms further.

How do I unsecure without having to print and scan back in? Since I am the original author I dont see why it isn't easier to unsecure but it requires a password that I am completely unaware of.
I downloaded acrobat and see the option where I can unsecure but also need a password for this and dont have one or know how to get it.
I also want to be able to send pdfs to clients to mark up (again, I am to originator of the documents) and am unable to send an unsecured version without printing and scanning.
Is this someting zipforms has to give me?

Save PDF form into non editable PDF through button (SaveAs) using java script

I am creating PDF form using LiveCycle 8.0.

2) show / hide the field by choosing the drop down List.
Like, In drop down list their is tree option name a, b, c. when select "A" hide the field_A and select "B". then show the field_A.

Thanks for that script, it is a great way of securing it from being edited, but reader still won't allow the form to be saved, only as a copy without the inputted text. The idea of what I'm trying to achieve is a form which the staff here fill out and then send to our customers with non editable fields, there is the option to print to pdf but that saves the file as an 'image', this stops people from highlighting text which we don't want, they have to be accessible afterwards to copy and paste the text at a later date.
I hope someone can help with what should be such a simple action.
