Forms Runtime stack dump - MSVCRT.dll

I'm having trouble with a Forms 5.0 app that I'm bringing up to Forms 6i. Whenever I try to run the form, I get a stack dump. I searched METALINK and found lots of people complaining of the same or similar problem, all in forum threads that have since been closed without anyone posting a solution. Has anyone experienced this? I'm desperate for a solution!
I'm running Windows/NT Build 1381, SP6, but the problem also occurs on a Win2k workstation. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling all the Oracle products on my workstation, and I've also tried loading various different versions of MSVCRT.dll into the WINNT/system32 folder. (This is a pain because Windows opens & locks the DLL.)
Thanks in advance.

    ifweb60 is Oracle Forms60 Server, you can find it in the
    registery. If you don't need it, you can turn the server off
    from services( set it to manual), then it would not startup every
    time you reboot the box. If you need to keep it on, please refer
    to the forms documentations.

  • HST6i, Client/Server env. Forms runtime crash!

    We successfuly instaled HSD6i on Forms Server. But we also need to run forms on client/server environment.
    When I start HSU or generated app. in Forms Runtime (ver 6.0.8.11.3) and do nothing other than navigate from menu to form 'Users' for example, form opens but the very
    next time whole runtime environment dissaper (crash with no error message).
    How can I manage this problem?

    I changed all 'automatic' to <unspecified> but my forms are still crashing with access violation at uiw60.dll. It seems that only forms with item groups though. I also found another posting here by Ivica Coric about "Problem with Item Groups" where people mentioned forms with item groups would crash. It seems that this is my problem. But changing 'automatic' to something else still doesn't solve my problem. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Uros,
    I have discovered what makes this happen. As you have read in the the install guide, you need to change a number of properties in the object library. Specifically, the color "Automatic", which is very useful in webforms, is problematic on client/server.
    Because most items in the generated forms subclass from the object library, you would ideally only need to recreate the fmx files and be rid of the "Automatics".
    Unfortunately, there's one place where the generator uses the object library properties, but DOES NOT SUBCLASS BUT COPIES these properties into the generated forms. This happens with boilerplate graphics that result from item group decorations, and then only when the item group decoration has a prompt! Here the color of the CG$TITLE visual attribute is used, but not subclassed. This also explains why you solved it by regenerating the problematic forms.
    To solve this for the applications you cannot regenerate, open the fmbs, navigate to the Canvas, and then to the Graphics. You'll find the culprit there soon enough.
    Kind regards,
    Peter<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

    Hello Robert,
    I wasn't able to find too much about this error on our end, but doing a wider search it seems errors involving MSVCRT.DLL usually take place when this Microsoft C Runtime Library file is replaced by a third-party file that lacks "_resetstkoflwfunction". It's odd that the error occurs only after closing the application. Here is a third-party website I was able to find which explains this in a bit more detail, and might be a fix to try if your are comfortable: How to Fix Common Msvcrt.dll Errors?

  • Oracle Form Runtime (bug)

    Hi guys..
    I have created an application composed by 5/6 forms. I created a .BAT file that launches the main MENU form, that has all the related buttons wich call the other modules of the application. NOw the issue is the seguent, if I install the forms on the local machine I have no problems at all. But instead, if I install them on a server pc, I begin having very strange problems. For example, my main MENU forms gets launched without any issues, I press the first button on the main menu and my application starts, if I exit and then press another button, it literally EXPLODES. The forms runtime crashes and creates a DUMP file. Now the strange thing is that it doens't do it on every PC.
    Do you guys know anything about this ?

    Could it be that you have lot of other programs running in the server so there is not enough memory to run forms.
    Just curious, why are you using a combination of version 5 and version 6 forms?
    From your main form, are you calling both version 5 and version 6 fmx files?

  • Forms Runtime crashes when installing on clients (W95)

    I'm trying to test my application which has been created with Developer 2000. Forms only, no reports or anything else yet.
    It is my understanding that all I have to do is install the FORMS RUNTIME item from the developer CD. If this is wrong, please correct me. My problem is when it gets a small portion of the way through the install, it crashes - why and how do I fix this? My error is a GPF, 'Orainst caused an invalid page fault in module kernel32.dll'. This happens on every machine so far, all Windows 95B.
    Any advice is appreciated.

    I finally callled Oracle Tech Support and figured out my problem. Thought I'd post it in case anyone else has this trouble. I had the Ora8i client installed because my app was originally VB & used ODBC drivers etc.
    I uninstalled every Oracle component on my machine.
    Physically deleted the Oracle folders from C: and from C:\Program Files
    In Regedit I physically deleted the two Oracle keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE and HKEY_LOCAL_USER/SOFTWARE.
    Reinstalled the forms runtime files using the default Oracle Home (which it requires). Then installed Net80 components to enable communication with my database.
    So far so good.

    I gave IIS AppPool\DefaultAppPool NTFS permissions to C:\CFusionMX7\runtime\lib\wsconfig\ folder.  Under IIS 6 Management Compatibility, I installed IIS 6 Metabase Compatibility and IIS 6 Management Console installed.  Web Server Configuration tool doesn't work because my IIS version is 7.5 and Supported versions are 4, 5 and 6. So I manually added using this article http://www.adobe.com/devnet/coldfusion/articles/iis-configuration.html but no luck.
    I didn't add IIS 6 WMI Compatibility and IIS 6 Scripting Tools.
    Is it because CF7 doesn't work on IIS 7.5 on Win 2008 R2 SP1?

  • Stack dump

    I'm running java in windows, using command prompt to execute programs. To get a stack dump, you can press ctrl-break in the dos box.
    Can someone tell me what exactly ctrl-break does apart from giving a stack dump. Does it change the stack or affect the current runtime of the program. In other words, does this command change the state of the currently executing program or is it a mere debugging tool that displays the current stack?
    thanx

    Just a debugging tool.

  • Customising forms runtime title and Icon

    how can one change the title and icon of mdi window of forms runtime ?

    Hi Arjun,
    You can set the title of the MDI window as follows :
    SET_FORM_PROPERTY(FORMS_MDI_WINDOW, TITLE, 'YOUR TITLE');
    You can change the icon of the MDI window by using the D2KWUTIL.dll as follows :
    DECLARE
    h_win PLS_INTEGER := win_api_utility.get_active_window;
    BEGIN
    WIN_API_SESSION.Change_MDI_Icon(h_win,'your_icon.ico',0);
    END;
    Hope this helps.

  • Forms runtime just hangs on startup

    When I try to run any form, a blank "Oracle Developer Forms Runtime" window comes up and then nothing else happens. The same thing happens consistently if I try to run from a server with JInitiator 1.3.1.13 (or apparently any server) or with local OC4J instance using JInitiator 1.3.1.9. Other users can run the same forms from the same server(s). The problem started suddenly with no system updates that I know of between working and not working states. OS and browser: XP And Explorer with SP2 (but Forms behaves the same way if I try Netscape 7). Any Ideas...?
    Sample Java Console output:
    Oracle JInitiator: Version 1.3.1.13
    Using JRE version 1.3.1.13-internal Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
    User home directory = C:\Documents and Settings\Test

    l: dump classloader list
    m: print memory usage

    t: dump thread list
    x: clear classloader cache

    proxyHost=null
    proxyPort=0
    connectMode=HTTP, native.
    Forms Applet version is : 9.0.4.0

    What happens if you run
    http://<server name removed>:7777/forms90/f90servlet
    Does the test form show?It behaves in exactly the same way: no form shown and Java Console doesn't show anything past that "Forms Applet version". I know that I haven't changed anything in my local Forms Developer/OC4J environment since it was working. I tried removing JInitiator(s) and having them reinstall automatically by trying to run a form and the download and installation worked flawlessly but it didn't help with the problem. I suspect that something in my Windows system is blocking JInitiator but what could it be?

  • Windows 7, Forms Runtime 6i and Discoverer 10g don't play nice together

    Hi -
    I posted this under the Discoverer Forum, but it was suggested that this might be a better place.
    Let's see if I can have this make sense:
    We are testing 3 Oracle products on a Windows 7 64-bit machine.
    1. Forms Runtime 6i
    2. Discoverer 10g version 10.1.2.3
    3. ODBC from Ora client 11
    I can install everything; although I had to install Discoverer in Compatablilty Mode using XP SP2. The ODBC client requires that I change the environment varialbes and add a New Environment variable called TNS_ADMIN.
    Forms 6i works and the ODBC work until I install Discoverer. After installing Discoverer, I get a TNS cannont resolve.......on the Forms Runtime.
    I'm lost as to how to get the Forms 6i to work. If you need any more information, please ask and I'll try to answer.
    Thanks for all your help.

    OK - so I thought the original post was from May of 2011 and wrote up my entire response accordingly. Only at the very end did I see that the original post was from May of 2010. Hopefully my response will help others who are only now trying to work through this issue.
    Although Developer 6i is not officially supported by Oracle on Windows 7, it can run. It is just a bit finnicky to figure out.
    There are a few of other things to I'd like to mention.
    #1 Because you are running on a 64-bit OS, and depending on the Oracle 6i patch level you are running on the machine (we use Patch 17), you will need to replace two DLL files in the <ORA6i_HOME_DIR>\bin folder with version from 1/2/2001 (Patch 4, I think)
    1. NN60.DLL
    2. NNB60.DLL
    If you do not replce these files, you will get an "FORM ERROR FRM-41211 Integration Error: SSL failure running another product" if you try to run a report from within your forms application, or if you try to open a form in a new window. The newer versions of these files apparently had removed some 64-bit calls when 64-bit Windows XP flopped.
    More information (and my original source for my solution) can be found here: http://halimdba.blogspot.com/2009/05/oracle-forms-or-reports-6i-in-windows.html
    #2 Because you are running on a 64-bit OS, if you want to add the TNS_ADMIN variable to your registry, you should add it in two places. HKLM\Software\Oracle AND HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Oracle
    #3 During installation, I have a batch file that performs a lot of the 6i install stuff, so I don't run in compatability mode. But what I do is open a command prompt using "Run As Administrator" then browse to the 6i installers and install from that admin environment. If you are creating packaged forms 6i applications, I would strongly suggest investing the time to figure out how to script the 6i install for you clients. It can be a pain, but it is certainly much better than having to remember a gazillion different steps and make sure that you selec the approrpiate packages every time. The certainly don't need the full 6i environment, only the runtime portions.
    #4 When installing multiple versions of oracle client, we've always found it best to start with the oldest version first. Get it running and tested, then move to the next version. Test the new version, then the old, then change the old to work with the new. Rinse and repeat. Of course, this is not required and may be impossible (installing your 6i app on machines that have been running 10g for years where you don't want to have to reimage the machine), but that order is definitely helpful in determine those steps that must be taken to get all versions working at the same time.

  • Failed client instal (orainst | msvcrt.dll) page fault

    I am trying to uninstall the oracle client (all componenets) from a Windows 95 machine and while trying to unistall the process causes an illegal operation and then bombs out. I try to reinstall over the existing installation and I get the same thing "illegal operation". Oraninst.exe is causing a page fault in msvcrt.dll. This is a predictable reproducable problem that occurs everytime I run the installation or try to run the unistallation. I read a microsoft technet document about this problem and updated the C runtime library "msvcrt.dll" to the lates version and continue to get the same error. Anyone else ever see this error. I would imagine it would be quite common?

  • Stack Dump while creating Write Optimized DSO on BW 7.3, MS SQL - any SAP Notes?

    While attempting to create a Write Optimized DSO on BW 7.3, MS SQL, we had a stack dump - ABAP Program     CL_RSD_ODSO_VERS==============CP with short text " Access using NULL object reference is not possible. "
    Has anyone seen any SAP Notes on this subject?

    Hi John,
    Was any field deleted from the DSO, if yes, probably the system is not able to relate the pointer from the DSO table. Error like these come up very often when fields are deleted from DSO. Solution is to remove the field manually from the table also. However, the system is supposed to do but sometimes such ambiguity causes such issues.
