Forms users that need a overview of new tehnology
Hi all,
We have a working system that has been developed in Oracle Forms/Reports running on oracle app server 10g. We are considering moving into JDeveloper to give us more functionality and a more up to date look and feel.
All our businees logic is within the Forms and we understand our only way forward is to rewrite the system.
We are considering hosting internally and allowing our customers to log onto an area where they can use our system (an ERP system).
We have started looking into the latest technologies and are getting a little bemused by the huge amounts of technologies Oracle provides!
We assumed the natural step would be to rewrite our new application in Jdeveloper and ADF. But we are seeing lots of other acronyms and technologies listed whenever we try and find a simple tutorial.
Things like AJAX, APEX, TopLink, ADF Faces, Java Faces are spoken about regularly but we can not find some comprehensive information relating to what all these do and how they fit in with one another.
We could do with some help pointing us in the direction of some good simple overviews and demos/tutorials if possible.
We have installed 11g Web logic and set this up ready.
Sorry if this has been asked before or if its in the incorrect forum but some friendly advice and info from people in a similar boat to us would be greatly appreciated

There is nothing to stop you sharing but ideally the afternoon will be "hands on" so its always good to be able to drive your own way around the IDE (but not essential). (I certainly wouldn't have more than two people to a laptop). If you can get a laptop I think it would really be worth the effort.
As for reading, I would suggest a couple of the papers on the OTN page I pointed you to (there are also some tutorials on the right hand side).

The other thing you might want to consider is that the UKOUG are running a SIG on the 27th Oct at which I will be presenting "ADF for PL/SQL dummies". If you are a member of the UKOUG (or even if you are not) it might be worth signing up for that. Details on the UKOUG website.
I'm also doing an ADF masterclass at the main UKOUG conference in Nov/Dec in Birmingham
Given the training in London is free, if you can, get as many people from your project on as possible - its not often you get completely free training like this ;o)

You can do this directly in OAM, with option "a" (using auxiliary object class). You configure OAM to use the main person object class (inetorgperson) and then you can associate extra auxiliary object classes to it - and header variables can be set from any of the attributes that are in the user's profile, both main and auxiliary.

As the title says, is there a feature or tool that exports a list of usernames that have their password expiring in, for example, the next 10-20 days? It's a common occurrence that people forget to change their password and end up being locked out. This tool would greatly make it easier on our IT dept.

Outlook 2007 client has former user's name.
I have Windows 2012 servers. One of which has Exchange server 2013. Most of my email clients have Outlook 2007, and some have Outlook 2013. On one of the Outlook 2007 clients, the previous user's name appears above Inbox in left panel. On a spare computer
with Outlook 2007, I logged in as the affected user and setup Outlook for her. Her name appeared above the inbox until I closed and restarted Outlook. Then, the same former user's name appeared. On the user's computer, I gave this affected user local admin
rights, but the Disable Offline files option was grayed out. The affected user's account name is all that's listed under Email accounts tab. Under Data there is an OST file with the former user's name. Someone told me that my predecessor renamed the former
user's AD account for the new (affected) user--rather than creating a new AD account for the user. I've read that Exchange gets information from each user's AD account. Is the next step to delete the affected user's AD account and create a new one for her?
If so, do I leave her Exchange account, her computer's Windows profile, and Outlook profile/setup alone while I'm doing this? It may seem a minor issue, but it's frustrating to this manager. Recipients do receive her emails with her name as the sender

Before we go further, I'd like to confirm if the affected user has two mailboxes and the meaning of former user.
And for the strange OST file issue, I recommend you try to delete all OST files and recreate the profile to have a test.

I have a main fillable form. From this main form the user may need additional forms. I want to create checkboxes that link to these additional forms. This part I believe I know how to do (Properties/Actions/Open a File). What I want to add is a javascript to the checkbox that when the new file (or form) opens some of the data (the repetitive data like name, date, etc.) from the main form is placed into the form opened where the same form fields exist. Is this possible?
Yes, but then it all has to be done using a script. You can't use the built-in Open A File command.

I need to install Mozella Firefox 2.0 to fill out a form that is not supported to input info from the newer version that is installed on my PC. Do I need to delete the newer version before using the older version? If so, how do I delete the new version and install the older version?
If you just need it for one site you can use the portable version of Firefox 2 instead. You can install the portable version on a USB key, or if one is not available choose the custom install and install it somewhere on your hard drive. The portable version will not interfere with your current version of Firefox. You can get the portable version from http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable - the link for Firefox 2.0.0.20 is near the bottom of that page.

There isn't a way directly in Mail.

It is possibile to find the USERS that are using the a FORMS in application server ??
I must update sometime a forms, but if the user is using the forms it is not possibile. Find the user i can call it for exit from teh form.
Thank's a lot.I'm not aware of such an information somewhere. We had a similar need (actually we needed something more), and we used DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO package, which updates CLIENT_INFO column in V$SESSION.
Bad news are : you have to change every Form to do that....but it's not difficult, you can add a call to that package in WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE trigger in each Form... -
Need SMTP_ADDRESS Mandatory on New User Create/User Maintenance
Is there a way to require entry of email address upon new user creation or user maintenance without an ABAP enhancement?
It appears that function module ADDR_PERS_COMP_COMM_MAINTAIN writes email address to database for users, but before I try to enhance the code, I'd like to see if this is a change that can be made without code modifications.
Use of report RSADRCK7 is not feasible; users would need to be done one at a time.
This requirement would apply only to functions (SU01) by BASIS/Security; users must remain unable to maintain their email address via System>UserProfile>Own Data.> enhancement inserted for SU01, screen 0900, to error when SZA5_D0700-SMTP_ADDR is initial, in SAPLSZA5, form D0700_OK_CODE.
If that does not work, then the easiest option is a check after the user creation to verify that all users who are meant to have an SMTP entry in the address data, also have one (from the correct domain, etc...).
Alternately, you can create a standard transaction variant for SU01 and change the screen of the address data tab. When saving (or proceeding to the next screen), the address data must have been maintained.
The first option is certainly much easier and less intrusive to implement...
Do you also use self-registration scenarios? Is that the reason for your question?

I have an older iPhone (3gs) and need to upgrade to a newer phone (4S). I need to get my NOTES, CALENDAR, CONTACTS, PICTURES, etc backed up on iTunes so I can get that data loaded onto the new phone. But not sure how to do that. When I open iTunes it has a button that say "Back Up iPhone", but I'm not sure what that does. When I go into the sync options it say I have another user account and asks me if I want to merge of replace. I'm assuming it's trying to tell me I have an older iTunes Library, but don't know that. Geez, maybe people over 60 shouldn't have iPhones, iTunes just bafles me.

How do I move all my files from one User Profile (account) into another?
I needed to create a new account and want all of my files accessible in the new one.ok, what you're learning right now is 101 unix, which is good. Unix is a good thing
now: the way unix works, and macos (which uses unix underneath) the files and folders work like a hierarchy.
the start of that tree is /
so, if you were to do:
cd /
(cd means change directory)
it will bring you at the highest branch of the file system.
cd /Users
will bring you to where all the users are.
to see whats in /Users you can use your friend ls command
ls means list files/directories
so:
cd /Users
ls -la
(the -la here means show all (even hidden) and long format (very verbose)) this flag is very optional.
you will see
fred
user2
for example.
if you want to see the desktop of user2 you would change directory to it then list the files.
for example:
cd /Users/user2/Desktop
Note that the files and directory are case sensitive, so, desktop is NOT the same as Desktop, or DESKTOP
ls -la
you should then be able to see everything in users2 desktop
you could have done as well the same thing in smaller steps, for example:
cd /
cd Users
cd user2
cd Desktop
this is the equivalent of cd /Users/user2/Desktop
So, for your file, i don't know where it was, but know that if you log in as user2, it will directly put you in
/Users/user2
which most likely the file you had created from the other user was in /Users/user1
if you copied all the files from /Users/original_user to /Users/secondUser
most likely yes, all your mail, bookmarks etc would be copied over.
so in your case.
sudo chown -R seconduser:staff /Users/secondUser
should work
Remember that if you start a path with the character / it means start from the root of the file system, at the highest top you can ever get.
so
cd /Users/fred
is not the same as
cd Users/fred
unless you were in / already
i know it may be confusing at first but it's actually very logical if you play with it.
to simplify, think of it that / means C:\ on windows
you can't go any higher than C:\ (in a way)
if you're unsure which directory you're currently in, you can always type:
pwd
it will tell you where you are.
for example:
cd /
pwd
this shows /
cd Users
pwd
this now shows /Users
cd /System/Library
pwd will show /System/Library
cd /
cd /Users
cd fred
cd Library
pwd will show /Users/fred/Library
unix can look very scary but it's actually vital and very necessary to do tasks sometimes that would take for ever to do via the windows. This is good learning.
so for the myfile you had created, i can't tell you where it is, at the time you created, if you can do a pwd command you'll know the path,
ls -la (this shows all the files where you are)
if you see myfile in the list
do a pwd
whatever is return, the real location of the file would be:
whatever pwd returned / myfile
I hope that makes sense.
