Forums formatted for iPhone

Are there any forums available that are formatted for the iPhone? I'd like to offer user support through a forum but want to give users the option to interact with it through the iPhone. Similar to what Experts-exchange.com does with regular and iPhone versions of their site.

Check out WordPress & the iWPhone plug-in. You'll also need a forum plug-in to round things out - several more available, so google is your friend.

  • New Discussion pages formatted for iPhone - pls!!

Anyone else agree that Apple need to get an iPhone verion of these discussion pages? Typing is horrible. Too much lag when typing. Come on Apple! Even your own website is not formatted for an iPhone.

Well the script here constantly saves what you type so the "lag" is when it is saving while typing. Happens in BeeJive or Meebo as well because processing is gonig on while typing.
Apple isn't going to make an iPhone only version because that would go against the fact they released a phone with a real browser to hit real sites instead of mobile ones. Now yes it spawned many sites to make mobile sites (and even geared to the iPhone) but if Apple were to do it, it will say to the world, look we made a real webbrowser on a phone, but we had to change our site to let it work better. Not good PR.

  • Best database format for iPhone / iPod Touch Application?

Hello Adobe Community, I hope you can help me again with this one:
I plan to develop an iPhone / iPod Touch application that reads from an offline database (basically a big list of text data). Which format should / could I use? XML? Any other? And how would the XML be embedded / included in the App?
Thank you very much in advance!
    Best regards,
    Chico

Hi Alex, thanks for replying - I was hoping you would!
Are you sure about that? It has been said that it is not possible, here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/533885?tstart=0
Also, would you have a specific link to some example / tutorial / documentation where it works with Flash?
Finally, are you being specific about the upcoming cs5, or would it work on (current) cs4?
    Thanks a ton!

  • Acceptable video formats for iPhone

I am attempting to download music videos and movies to my iPhone. I've found in the past the mp4 files work for videos, but recently, mp4 files have not been working. I get a message saying that the file is not compatible with iPhone. Any suggestions???

Just because a file is a mpeg4 video does not mean it is iPod/iphone compatible.
It must meet certain specs regarding bit rate, resolution, etc.
Apple spells these specs out in the tech specs found on Apple.com.
    Here they are:
    Video formats supported: H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
    H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

  • Format for Iphone

OK I think I have a clue after doing some reading here. I have many old videos and clips that I use to watch on my old PC. What I need to do is covert them to MPEG4 format right? I thought buying the latest QTPro would do that so now I am out the 29 bucks, what shareware/freeware program would be recommended to use to convert all these video so I can watch them on my IPhone? Most of them are 'muxed' in mpeg 1 or 2.
    Thanks for your help

If you can view these videos with iTunes - after importing the videos to your iTunes library, select a video and at the iTunes menu menu bar, go to Advanced and select Convert Selection for iPod/iPhone.

  • What format for iPhone/ iPod Tuch?

    Hi!
I have noticed that some of my videos won´t load on an iPhone/ iPod Touch.
What is the best format to ensure playback on those devices?
BTW my MySpace/ Reverbnation stes won´t play at all on an iPod Touch..Flash?
    JanD

    Thanks!
Oh yes, obvious! Why didn´t I see that?
But it seems that iPhones play back movies in the H. 264 format, too.
Better quality after all. So that´s what I´ll do
And upload HD to be watched on computers.

  • Best quicktime format for iPhone

    Hi,
There seems to be lots of tips and tech notes, but what is the best setting to use from within Quicktime Pro to Export movies to the iPhone?
The tech notes give all all the H264 options but some of those settings will result in quite large files.
So whats the optimum settings given the iPhone screen size?
Or does iTunes convert supported movie types when it syncs?
    Thanks
    Eric

FWIW, here's what I use (and I am happy with the results even when I use the component out cables to a 38" screen TV):
    1) 640 resolution (the height will vary depending on widescreen or 4:3). 480 is all the iPhone will display, but it will output a higher resolution so I use this because I often output to a larger device from the iPhone.
    2) Data rate around 1000K. The iPhone will do higher (up to 1500) but the file sizes increase and I don't see a jump in quality.
Then use MP4 with H264 and single pass and you should end up with about 1gb per 2 hour movie, which is a very nice size (you can easily store 6 or 7 movies on the iPhone at one time).
Keep the frame rate the same as source.

  • Is there any forums formated specially for iPhone?

Is there any forums formated specially for iPhone? I need it so i can direct people for a game. thanks

        brooks2062,
Congratulations on recently purchasing an iPhone! I have the iPhone myself and love it, so I am sure you will as well. In regards to downloading music on your device, the best way to complete this task is going to be going through iTunes or the Apple App store. The Apple App store should have several 3rd party applications you can download music and play on your device. In addition any music that you have saved in your iTunes library can be synced and transfered to youre device.
    Thank you,

  • How to format a PDF for iPhone

Hopefully someone can help, Adobe support withdrew my question saying 'they don't support that platform', ummm, maybe PDF should be renamed to NPDF (non-portable format)!!
Joking aside, what is the best way to format a PDF for the iPhone.  Problem is, trying to read any PDF on the iPhone you have to keep scolling RIGHT then scroll LEFT for EACH line of text in the PDF - this is obviously unacceptable to users.
Is it possible to save the reflow setting in the actual PDF or is there anyother way, maybe set the margins in the PDF for iPhone screen size.  I only need the PDF to be read on the iPhone if that makes a solution any easier.
    Any suggestions much appreciated.  Thanks.

When looping is involved it's almost always easier to use applescript to call a workflow than to try to loop in automator. Make a workflow that looks like this:
Then call it in an applescript loop like this:
-- get main folder that contains other folders
    set mainF to choose folder
    tell application "System Events"
      -- gather the subfolders
set subFs to {folderNames:name, folderPaths:POSIX path} of (folders of mainF)
    end tell
repeat with i from 1 to count of folderNames of subFs
set fPath to item i of folderPaths of subFs
set fName to item i of folderNames of subFs
-- call automator to create the pdf
set workflowOutput to do shell script "automator -i " & quoted form of fPath & " '/path/to/worklow.workflow'"
-- rename the file (stripping of the extra bits that the automator utility adds to the file path
              tell application "System Events"
set newPDFPath to text 6 thru -4 of workflowOutput
set name of file newPDFPath to fName & ".pdf"
              end tell
    end repeat

" 3 items could not be synced. See iTunes for more information"  I have searched and I have tried the solutions on the forum. My iPhone has been successfully synced previously on my mac mini without error. I am trying to sync my iPhone with new MacBook Pro.

Modular77:  With respect the dialog on the iPhone 'XX items could not be synced.  See iTunes for more information.' , would you happen to know where to look in iTunes?  I looked in all the places that seemed logical to me.
I am, however, asking only for future reverence, as the initial sync which generated the error dialog was done via USB, and almost immediately after the USB sync, I ran a WiFi Sync—two in a row in fact—both initiated from the iPhone.  Both WiFi syncs completed successfully with no error dialog.
I then ran another USB sync initiated from iTunes on the Macintosh, as was the first sync which gave the error. This second USB sync also completed successfully with no errors.
I think someone in this thread mentioned non-AppleStore products or DMR issues which I think could not have been an issue in my case, as I was running the sync to install updated Apps from the AppStore, and additionally had deleted some music and movie items to make sure there was room for the App updates. Nothing was added other than the recently downloaded App updates from the AppStore.
    iPhone3GS  iOS 5.1.1 build 9B206.
              Developer Profile enabled.  iCloud enabled.
32 GB “disk.” About 1.5 GB free after sync.
              iPhone NOT jailbroken
MacBook 13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008 (NOT Macbook Pro)
         Lion 10.4.7 build 11E53.  2 GB RAM.
Thanks for any info or advice.  Problem IS now solved, but it absorbed a lot of time to reach that point.

    Hello polo-angulo,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the nature and scope of the issue you are describing. If you are saying that you are getting an error code (3004) when you try to restore your iPhone (because you could not remember your passcode), you may find the information and troubleshooting steps outlined in the following articles helpful:

I would like to send contacts via wireless in vcf format in an e-mail. iPhone doesn't even see the attachment. Is there a special file contact type for iphone?

    I must be more specific:
I am attempting to send a vcf from a Windows Computer using Outlook to another Email account that syncs with an iPhone. When I read the e-mail on the iPhone, I can't see the vcf file. But I can see the contact on outlook as a VCF.
