Forwarding E-mail and those stupid lines

is there anyway to get rid of those stupid lines on the side of the e-mail when I forward things? In Outlook on my old PC, you just forwarded and cleaned it up and it looked like an original. How do i get rid of the green and brown lines that come on every time i forward something. I have one form letter which I use as a reply, so it's forwarded a lot, and it ends up with 35 lines on the side!!

You can select the text in the new message and choose Format -> Quote Level -> Decrease. However, I'd venture to say you're probably doing something in a strange and difficult way. If you're sending an e-mail with the same text frequently, create a new e-mail with that text and then save it as stationery. You can select that later by clicking the Show Stationery button in a new message window.

I like to share emails and like to "clean" them up. I want to remove names; clean punctuation & spacing, and remove the vertical lines. I can do this easily within my Firefox browser. But, with no mouse it is near impossible with my iPad. Is their an App that. I can download or other techniques I can use?

The only way that I know how to do it, is to use the same technique that you use when you edit any document or notes on the iPad, select the text that you want to delete and then select the cut, or delete option. You can do the same thing with those blue vertical bars if you want to remove them. It isn't necessarily all that tedious. It's pretty easy to select an entire group of email addresses or section of text and then delete it.

I am currently using Windows 7 - 64 bit as my operating system. Previously this was not the case. But after I changed my operating system, problem started in forwarding my mails. Whenever I forward my mails, Only the subject line is filled. All the text, attachments and pictures from original mail are not carried alongwith.

When a virus infects a Windows PC one of the first things it does is mine the PC's e-mail address book. It will then send out e-mails containing itself to addresses in the address book using another address from the address book as the sending address.
The only way you can tell where the e-mail comes from is to look at the long headers. In Mac Mail View>Message>Long Headers.
So it probably wasn't sent from your Mac but from a PC who has both your addresses in his mail .

Oops, our posts crossed. The two main changes in Safe Mode would be: (1) disabling Firefox's use of hardware graphics acceleration, and (2) disabling all extensions. You can try to implement those manually in regular mode.

When forwarding mail i select a group to send mail and when i go to select another group it will not open for me to select other emails in that file.

When you select a "group", it automatically selects everyone in that group.
If your just trying to add other people outside that group, then in the "To" make sure the curser is just after the last entry and you can hold your finger on that line to get your contact list to pop up or after the last entry you should have showing after that ;

Mail - Forwarding attachments manually and with rules - how do I keep my attachments?

I have the latest updates of Lion on by MacBookPro (late 2010 model). I use mail to receive mail from my business account (Exchange account) and my personal account (IMAP account). Up until this summer, everything was working peachy with the system. I have multiple folders in my accounts and many rules to sort the mail and some that automatically forward mail messages to other people in my office who are also on exchange server.
Since this summer, we really noticed in August, we have noticed that the attachements are sometimes missing from emails I send out either automatically through rules (attachements never appear in the emails on the receiver's end) or manually, sometimes they receive, sometimes they don't (most of the times, but not always, when they don't work, it is a pdf in attachement, although it has happened on occasion with docs and jpgs or other graphics files). The bizarre thing is that on occasion a receiver replies to my email telling me there is no attachement, and although the email I receive doesn't show a paperclip, the attachament is actually embedded in the email!
If I write a new mail, and manually add an attachement, it seems to work.
My IT guy, who runs the exchange server says that it is bizarre because he can see the attachement in my email, but when it is delivered it disappears, but if he opens it at the server, it reappears. He has made all the latest updates and has trolled the support sites, but has found no solution.
I receive a newsletter everyday, which is a rather large 8-10 Mb pdf. My rule tells it to automatically forward to the receptionnist so that she can send it out to her mailing list. The message I receive always has the attachment, but in the forwarded message the attachment dissappears. In this case, when I look at message in my sent mail folder - there is no attachment. I tried using re-direct instead of forward as a rule and it still did the same thing...
I guess I want to know if anyone is experiencing the same issue, and if anyone has any other solutions to make forwarding work better.
P.S. When I use the IMAP account, the forwarding doesn't seem to be a problem, however I can't figure out how I could run a rule for an email I receive on my exchange account so that it forwards via my IMAP account. Also this would not be ideal, as then all my business contacts would get mail from my personal account...

No problem at all using gmail. The only reason that I asked was because I did "Google" the issue and gmail came up in the search a couple ot times and I thought that I had seen this issue on the discussion site before and gmail came to mind. Personally, I love Google. I would be lost without it, but I digress.
I was just going to suggest that you may have better success looking for answers on the gmail for iOS devices help site or on the gmail general help site. I don't have gmail so I really know nothing about it and the suggestion that I made in my first post is merely a standard troubleshooting step that helps solve many minor issues on the iPad.

I am using iPhoto 11 mail and cannot add more than one recipient in the 'to' line. When I put a comma in, the recipient's address is deleted. If I use ' ' with more than one recipient the save grays out. Any thoughts?

I figured it out. I needed to fix some errors in my account information. It works fine now.

My iMac says my iCloud mail account is off line and is refusing to go online my calendar is not being able to connect to the iCloud server. Any help would be greatly appreciated by this silver surfer ;o)

First, some clarification:
* The location bar (often called the "awesome bar") is the larger bar on the left that shows you the address of the page you are currently viewing. As you type in the location bar it searches your history and bookmarks for matches.
* The search bar is the smaller one on the right. It typically displays an icon of whichever search engine is currently selected and may display search suggestions as you type in it.
It sounds like you are referring to the search bar rather than the location bar. You can change search engines for the search bar by clicking on the icon on the left edge of the search bar and choosing a different one. You can also choose "Manage Search Engines" to remove ones you aren't interested in using.
It also sounds like Bearshare might have changed your homepage in Firefox. To restore that you will need to open the preferences menu (click Tools > Preferences), go to the General tab (first on the top left), and click "Restore to Default".

Question to those knowledgable in Viruses and E-mail and/or ClamXav

Hi, in the past few days I have been receiving an blank e-mail with my own e-mail address in the From field. I do have ClamXav and have it set to scan e-mail files. I guess I have a few questions to ask and I'm going to ask them here since I use only my mini for e-mail and believe that it is capable of helping spread viruses even though it is highly unlikely to be infected by one.
1. Does this blank e-mail problem mean that I have a virus in my computer or that maybe someone whom has my address on their computer is sending it out?
2. Since the blank e-mail with my address in the From field does not contain an attachment does that mean that ClamXav is catching it if it is a virus or would I be receiving some sort of notice from the program if it did?
3. I have ClamXav set to scan e-mail files but does it automatically run in the background when I check my email or do I need to activate it every-time I go to check my e-mail?
I have been receiving about 2 to 3 a day usually one in the morning, one in the evening and one at night which leads me to think that maybe someone with my email address might be inadvertently sending it out when they check their email or connect to the internet. I'd like to thank in advance those whom take the time to read my post and reply to it.

1. No and possibly: It's much more likely that a spammer has your email address and is sending blank emails with spoofed headers out to test for a "live" address. Since spammers harvest email addresses from their victims, it's possible that somebody you know is an unwitting spam relay.
2. As long as you keep it updated, clamav catches viruses, trojans and phishes. Viruses sent by email do NOT have to be attachments. In the Windows world, they have been code embedded in the text of the message.
3. No. As long as you have added your mailboxes to Folder Sentry, it runs automatically.
Since you're running 10.3.9, here's a script that helps.
From clamXav's documentation:
"Scan email files".
Most email clients will store email messages and mailboxes in a format called "mbox". What this option does is allow ClamXav to scan the actual contents of individual email messages for embedded virus attachments. This option frequently flags up emails which other email scanners may have missed.
Turning this option on (with "Quarantine" off) lets you see if a virus exists, leaving you to trawl through your mailbox and delete the offending message yourself. See the "sticky" thread in my forums to see how to pinpoint it. If you use Apple's Mail program (this may affect others too), you must quit every time you delete something from a mailbox otherwise the change will not actually take effect. ...
For the reasons explained previously, this option may not be used in conjunction with the "Quarantine" option. I should also warn, however, that even without this option set, ClamAV will still scan through the file's textual content, looking for HTML phishing attacks.
