Fotomagico export(share) settings for DVDSP

Can someone help me determine the best settings to use when exporting a slide show from Fotomagico to achieve the best video quality when importing as an asset to DVDSP? I will then need to render the asset in order to burn the DVD. What settings should I select for the rendering for watching the DVD on a 16:9 tv screen?
Thanks in advance,
Bernie

I'm in the same boat and looking for the best way to at least boost the quality that one would get going from Fotomagico > iDVD. My hope is FCS 2 (using compressor and DVDSP I can boost the overall quality of the whole presentation)
After spending some time over at Fotomagico's site I realize there is no way to avoid loss of quality if one is to burn a slide show to a DVD no matter what app. one uses or how careful one is while choosing HQ Export settings etc. As I understand it, it is the compression that takes place from the QT Export MPEG4 Movie > Streaming MPEG-2 for DVD conversion where most of the loss happens that gets under peoples skin with the simpler yet more limiting Fotomagico > iDVD route. My hope is to is to figure out a way to at least boost the quality up to a noticeable level with a HQ QT export from FM > DVDSP.
It seems so far iDVD is my largest limitation when putting a project together like this.
My research has also enlightened me to understand why iDVD and possibly other pro DVD authoring app's will never come close to a commercially released Hollywood studio DVD due to their extremely expensive and high end hardware and software encoders they use to prepare media and author DVD's. Can anyone summarize at least how close one can come to the commercial Hollywood DVD standard with FCS 2? Or at least tell me if the DVD's created with DVDSP fall somewhere noticeably above the DVD's created by iDVD (when of course, carefully following the best protocol when preparing the media).

  • Publish and Share Settings for Storing on Amazon S3 and linking on blog, in autoresponder, etc

I want to publish/share my Premiere Elements 11 video such that I can store it on Amazon S3 and then link to it in my blog, facebook, autoresponder. I know I DON"T want the Online settings because I am not directly uploading to YouTube, etc.
There are so many possible choices my head is spinning.
Are the settings for playing on a computer - what I want?  And if so, exactly WHICH settings do I want?   I tried the FLA settings, having read that flash is the way to go.  But the final video looked really horrible.  Please HELP! Thanks!

    posturally
What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 11 running on?
First, if you have not already, you will need to do some homework regarding Amazon S3 and its requirements for uploads to it for sharing purposes...requirements to include duration, file size, and formats (video and audio compressions as well as file extension), etc..
And, how is your Premiere Elements 11 project set up....
    a. What is the project preset, and does the project preset match the properties of the source media?
    b. What are the properties of the source media? (See Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and its readings for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame
Size, Pixel Aspect Ration (even if they look grayed out).
Based on the above, now your choices for the export setting...assuming that 1080p30 (1920 x 1080 @ 30 progressive frames per second) is OK
with Amazon S3, then look at
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    AVCHD
    with Presets = MP4 - H.264 1920 x 1080p30
That will give you an AVCHD.mp4 (1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 progressive frames per second).
So, more details and a look at the AVCHD.mp4 export if applicable to your project settings.
We will be watching for your follow up and results. Please do not hesitate to ask questions or to ask for clarification.
    Thanks.

  • What is best export in FCP for DVDSP?

    hello,
i am just looking for the optimum settings for a one hour movie to take into DVDSP from FCP?
i have been using an MPEG2 export setting with 6.8 bit rate from FCP then taking that file directly into DVDSP and burning...results are pretty good but text looks to flicker a bit at times...
is this the correct method? or is a QT source file best?
    thanks,
    steven

A maximum bit rate of 6.8 together with dolby2/AC3 audio works well for that length movie.
Text flickers could be attributable to just about anything including choosing the wrong font and font size.
And if you are working in NTSC DV footage, you also may have issues with that.

  • Suitable share settings for movie playback

I have a MacBook Pro with dual core I7 2.66 Ghz processor and 8 GB of Ram. Operating system is OSX 10.7.5.
I processed my movie project using Final Cut Pro X. The project consists of a narrator with other media connected to the main storyline.
I had no problem processing the project. I imported optimal media and created proxy media for playback. Playback using the timeline browser works fine.
I just shared my movie using the default “Master File setting.” Playback using VLC player is halting for both video and audio, even when all other applications are closed.
The video is to be shown at a family gathering a few days from now.
    1. I shot the video with a digital camera Panasonic DMZ F150 using the built in-microphone. FCPX decided it was a stereo project and I went along, but I am not sure that much is added by this stereo setting. If I were to change to “dual mono”, the only option that FCPX seems to give, would playback performance of the new movie improve? Would sound quality be much affected?
    2. Another possibility would be to just show the movie from the timeline browser (full screen). Playback would be “proxy media quality”. Does this make sense?
    3. Are there other share settings that might improve playback performance without affecting quality much?
    4. Would using Compressor to create the movie help improve playback performance? If so, that would be a good reason to buy Compressor.
Any advice or guidance will be appreciated.

Thanks. After some experimenting, I found that export as Quicktime movie as H 263 seems to play on the G3 with good video quality.

  • Exporting all settings for Outlook Desktop so that they can be imported into Outlook

    Hi there,
I was wondering whether all settings for Outlook Desktop can be exported so that they can be imported into Outlook i.e. .psts, .osts, .pabs, .oabs, .dats, .xmls, .nk2s, .rwzs, .rtfs, .txts, .htms, .dics, .ofts, .srss and .msgs. My Managing Director's Wife is
unsubscribing from Office 365 in order to use Office Professional 2013 I presume or 2010 perhaps. Your help would be much appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    RocknRollTim
P.S. I was redirected by a user off the Office 365 Community Forum.

    Hi,
As per the information and details provided by you, in Outlook, there is not any way to backup Outlook account setting because in all Outlook versions the account settings are kept inside the window registry under this key:
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles
So if you want to create backup of your Outlook account setting, you should have to export that key from your registry and then import it to your new computer.
To backup Outlook Account setting follow these steps: -
    1. First, go to the Start menu and then at the Run box, type regedit and press Enter.
    2. Under the registry editor right click to Export the Profiles key found inside this location in the registry:
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\
    • e.g: “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles”
    3. In Outlook 2013 right click to Export the Profile key found under this location in the registry:
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\
    • e.g: “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Profiles key”
    4. Specify the Destination Location and File Name then press Save.
Correct me if the information that I am having is wrong. I hope this will be helpful for you.
    Thanks and regards

  • Best Share Settings for YouTube

Hi, Could someone tell me what the best Imovie HD6 exporting settings are for uploading to YouTube? I'm trying to get the best quality image for my 8 minute video but still be able to upload under 100meg.
I've read on the YouTube site that MPEG-4 at 30fps & 640x480 is the best setting for the best quality results. But when I do that I still end up with a rather pixalated video. I've tried using the standard setting of Web Streaming (12fps, 320x240) but that's also rather pixalated.
    Thanks for any thoughts.

    Hi Steve
I don't often drop into Discussions these days as the resident experts are excellent but in the past I have had disappointing results with mpeg4 to YouTube until I used Matt's own QT setting settings.
I have and use Flash and on Sunday I tried encoding and uploading my YouTube with Flash. I used the suggested settings and it looked awful! Flash likes to encode from uncompressed footage and I have learned your footage has to be shot with Flash in mind. I then uploaded the same item using Matt's settings and it really looked passable. I could play them side by side. I am not a perfectionist and as long as my videos look OK I am happy.
Now YouTube is allowing a larger upload size I push the quality higher than Matt's and I keep the frame rate at exactly half. I use Pal so it is 12 but for NTSC it is 15. You can be pedantic and make it exactly half the NTSC frame rate which number escapes me at the moment as I never use it. This is best.
Remember to deinterlace but you know that.
So here they are - credit and thanks to Matt.
'I have found that if you are using "special effects" on your movies they do not reflect very well on you tube- If you make a clean movie with no effects than that comes out better. I use Imovie to Qtime export to my own settings for "movie" or .mov. the settings are:
    Compression: H.264
Frame Rate: 12 fps(smaller file size)
    Key Frame: AUTO
Quality: Medium ( again, smaller file size)
    Encoding: Best Quality
    Data Rate: AUTO
    Size: 320x240
Sound ACC-48 khz( you can change this , BUT my Videos are mostly MUSIC- so this sounds better, If your is only the true sound of what you have recorded, like people talking etc- then you can change to lower settings, thus giving you a smaller file size)
I have found that the key to you tube is
    1) if you use certain GEE THREE or any other effects, NOT ALL MIND YOU- that your movie will look crapy.
    2) if you use higher settings than i have stated here you file will be large(hopefully under YOUTUBES 100 mb limit), BUT if your file is very large the movie will stutter, or stop during playback- and other viewers on YOUTUBE probably will move on to the next video of choice and thus all your hard work will go unseen.
So i use these settings keep the effects to a minimum and they seem to work fine-hope this helps any one,
    matt
Lastly I do use effects sometimes so I make a clean copy of my iMovie, that is I export it to QT then I import it back into a new iMovie project so it is just one clip. This can fool YouTube. I made a YouTube using a slideshow from iPhoto
and I used random transitions expecting the worst and to my surprise it looked quite good.
If you want to look you can go see DIYTVMovies My Secret Garden
    http://nz.youtube.com/watch?v=mQ_9Hhg-lRk
which is the director's commentary to show how I did it. Now again this is not Hollywood quality but for a beginner it is acceptable. I like the sound quality iMovie gives. The other version for my friends had sound edited on Final Cut which was compressed and not as good.
If anyone has better settings let me know.

  • Best export format settings for mac

    Hi,
I have a mac OS Lion 10.7.2 and Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5. I'm new to premiere pro and video editions and have just finished my family's vacation video clip edition, that contains photos and videos.
I have tried several export format settings, but the only satisfying one was MPEG2-DVD with preset "Match Source Attributes (Highest Quality)". The problem was that it seems to be specific for DVD, that's why it was generated two separated files, a m2v for video and a wav for audio.
I would like to play it on my mac and I couldn't do it with the players I have installed: QuicK Time didn't run it and VLC ran without audio.
    I have 4 questions:
Is there a player that can play both video and audio? Or is it just for DVD purpose?
If not, what would be the best export format settings to have a HD 720p video with best quality? All the other settings produced very low quality videos, even in very huge size! I have tried flv, mpeg, mov...
Do I need any specific codec for it?
I have already installed perian codec. Wouldn't it be possible to export for AVI format? Why doesn't it show on my format options?
I have searched many forums and didn't find the solution yet!
    Does anybody have any suggestion?
    Thanks a lot, Guilherme

    Hello guys,
I've created another sequence to build my video. Now I am using a AVCHD 1080p30. My video contains photos and videos. The videos are 720p, but my pictures have very high resolution, 3968x2232. I won't edit them because there are lot of pictures. So, my question is: What would be the best format for this sequence? mp4? mpg? mpeg? mov? I thought that they are very similar! Are there big quality differences between them? Size is not a problem, but if the formats don't make big differences on the final product, the smaller one could be sufficient?
    Any tips?

  • Export compression settings for mov upload to web

When exporting from FCP for an .mov on the web, what should the compression setting be? I'd like to have a 320x240 QT mov with good quality that doesn't take forever to load. I've tried Sorrenson 3 settings, but a 20 second video clip is 38 mb. Please advise. Thanks.

In addition to what the good Captain has said already, may I also suggest dropping the frame rate to 15 or 12 frames.
Also, try using a Quality of Medium (or less) and see what kind of performance (or quality drop) you're getting.
Although it's fairly old at this point (because it was done prior to QT7), check out this KenStone.Net article for a good breakdown of the trade-offs that need to be made when exporting for the Web. Feel free to extrapolate for use with QT7...

  • Export preset settings for Print Media?

i am about to set down and follow rudy gay's tutorial on exporting images with a logo overlay (thanks for all the help in finding this document) and i am wondering if there are an expert or two on the list that might be able to share screenshots of their export presets.
i have gotten to the point where i have applied metadata to imagery and i had a request recently to send in images that are larger than 1 MB but i have been really confused as to what i am doing here. for instance, i have three projects that were created by importing folders of images from this person which have imagery:
    "print" project = 24.75 MB 2400 x 3600 px
    "ppt" project = 505 KB and1024 x 683 px
    "web" project = 324 KB 1024 x 683 px
i /think/ all of these are 72 dpi but i am not sure how to check this.
plus, i just ran an export as JPG at 100% size from the PRINT project and they all landed on my desktop at something over 1 - 4 MB in size.
basically, i am hoping that someone wouldn't mind sharing their settings and perhaps a little bit of an explanation so i can start to teach myself how to make this work better over here.
i realize that some of these things may be considered particular to an individual or even proprietary in some way but anything i can get on this will put me much farther ahead than i am now.
    TIA
    jon

I apologize for not getting to this sooner.
How are you viewing the PDF that shows the discoloration? Acrobat or some other application? Is overprint preview turned on in Acrobat?
This is definitely transparency related. When you choose PDF 1.3 you are flattening the transparency and the white lines you see are called "stitching." Thay ae a dispaly artifact in Acrobat (they'll disappear if you turn off smoothing), and though they may show in a low-resolution digital print, they are usually not apparent in high-resolution output from a press.

  • Export / Share Settings

    Good afternoon,
I seem to be having a problem with PE-8 outputting to a DVD that will fill the TV screen when viewed.  I have a JVC-HC camcorder that creates MTS files that I import into PE-8 just fine and looks like it should fill the screen when previewing.  The problem starts when I try to export it using the SHARE tab.  I have several "projects" that I want to combine into one movie so I share them to the "Personal Computer", pick the MPEG setting, then set the Preset to "MPEG2 1920x1080i 30", name the file and pick the SAVE button.  (I see the frame size is default set to 1920x1080 with no way to change it) When I export the movie file It looks reduced when I add it into the master combine file.  If I SHARE directly to DVD I pick "NTS_Widescreen_Dolby DVD" allow it to burn the DVD, when played on my Blue-Ray / DVD payer it still only shows a small frame (about 17x22) on my 52" HD-TV.
    What am I doing wrong?
Using PE-3 I never had this problem and only upgraded to 8 because of my new HD-Camera.
    Thanks for any help.
    Brian

I guess it's the new HD stuff that's messing me up.  Here is the plan, make 5 short videos from 5 minutes to 15 minutes long, add each of the projects into a single video of about 40 minutes long the export the completed DVD with a soundtrack.
I filmed in the HD setting on the camcorder:
Type: MPEG Movie (creates a .MTS file type)
    File Size: 36.0 MB
    Image Size: 1920x1080
    Pixel Depth:32
    Frame Rate: 29.97
I started a new project in PRE-8 with the default settings of: (this may be the mistake)
    Editing Mode: DV NTSC
    Timebase: 29.97 frames/second
    Frame Size: 720 Horiz, 480 Vert, 4:3
    PIXEL Aspect: D1/DV NTSC (0.9091)
    Fields: Lower field first
    Display Format: 30fps Drop-Frame Timecode
Tile Safe Area: 20%, 20% Vert
Action Safe Area: 10%, 10% Vert
If this is where my error is, can it be reset on an existing project or will I have to start from scratch.
I completed the editing of the project and output to: PC settings MPEG2 1920x1080i 30-HD
    File Type: MPEG2 Blu-ray
    Frame Size: 1920x1080
    Frame Rate: 29.97
I then imported the 5 files with the settings above into one "Master" project, applied the Soundtrack and exported the master project to: PC settings MPEG2 1920x1080i 30-HD
    File Type: MPEG2 Blu-ray
    Frame Size: 1920x1080
    Frame Rate: 29.97
The original video when viewed from the camcorder fills the TV screen completely and looks great.  Now I just need to re-learn how to setup PRE-8 for HD recordings and have them output correctly.
Thanks you very much for your quick response!

  • Ideal screen share settings for control mode

    Hi LCCS Team,
I am using screen share in my app including screen view and screen control.
When an agent requests to control the screen of a customer, there is a noticable lag of 1+ seconds
between screen refreshes from what customers sees and what agent then sees. Sometimes it is more
than that. Where it gets even harded is when agent is trying to control customer's mouse and keyboard.
The lag makes it somewhat impossible to remote control.
Is there a specific setting that I should use in my code to optimize for control mode? If not, what
is the general setting that I should be using.
Lastly, are there limits on throughput between the client version of the app and the agent since
the data has to pass through LCCS cloud? Would that affect this?
    Thanks,
    Michael

  • Best Export / Video settings for Premiere Pro. Help Needed.

What's the best settings when you want to export a video from Premiere Pro for the web or otherwise. Best settings = good quality video and LOW file size.
Benchmark : The videos on Apple Trailers. Check them out at http://www.apple.com/trailers
The trailers are of high quality video, great sounds, and the Large sizes all fall under the 25MB mark. Any ideas on HOW this is done and what
settings in Premiere Pro CS3 might be able to replicate such standards?
Any help is appreciated. I normally use Encoder and export using H264 but that always seems to have an Audio lag. Any similar issues?
    Thanks a mil!

I understand that better quality = bigger file size. That's true in most cases, but there is a way around it, I'm just not sure what that way is. As I mentioned in the original post, the benchmark is http://www.apple.com/trailers . The non-HD videos on any movie page on that site hardly ever exceeds the 25MB mark. The videos are 2-3minutes long, and while they may not be top-notch BD visuals, they look way better than 95% of the stuff that's streamed off the net.
That's why I asked if anyone had any ideas on how to replicate something like that. Say I had a avi file of great quality, shot with a Panasonic DV Cam. I Capture the footage, do whatever I have to in Pr, and the result is now a 3minute video. I want it exported to a Quicktime file, I want it to look visually pleasing like the trailers on Apple, and I want it to fall under 25MB. I have tried H.264 encoding, regular Quicktime, and Quicktime via Encoder. Nothing reaches the expected quality.
For more examples visit http://www.passionpictures.com.my/pages/recent.aspx and download those simple 30second clips. All Quicktime, mostly under 5.5MB. If Pr can't do it, then I don't know what can...so I'm sure Pr can do it.
Problem is, how? Experimentation is definitely a way to go, I get that. But on the basis of the scenario given above...how is it done?

  • Best Export/transcode settings for Sanyo Xacti HD1010 and FCP 6?

Just bought a Sanyo Xacti HD1010, which shoots in 1080p AVCHD/H.264.
    I'm using FCP 6.0.6 on a 24inch Imac 3.06 w/4gb Ram
I'm going to Export/Transcode w/ Mpeg Streamclip (Best free DL ever), and I'm looking for suggestions for export settings to get the best looking footage possible into FCP. I've never really worked with AVCHD before (I'm used to dealing w/ ProRes 422 off HVX-200/P2 cards), and I'm kinda at a loss.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi,
Not familar with this camera but if you have an intel mac you may be able to use log and transfer to get your footage into Pro Res, if not then Nick Holmes has a great tutorial for using Mpeg Streamclip, just do a search.

  • Export "share" settings in APE7

    Hi folks.
I'm having trouble with my video quality when exporting. I film with an HV30, capture using HDV Split, and have my project settings in APE7 as 1440x1080. When I open a file in Vision Lab Studio, it thinks the videos are 720x480. does anyone have an ideo why this is happening?
    Thanks!

OK Steve, here's what I'm trying to do. I want to get really good quality videos for a You tube channel. I use Vision Lab Studio for my VFX.
I want the best quality. I have already shot several projects on my HV30 at HDV settings. The videos I capture with HDV Split (Because APE7 will not split them [HDV] by scenes - Using HDV Split is the solution to this problem after much research) are...
    Codec: MPEG 1/2 Video (mpgv)
    Resolution: 1440x1080
    Frame rate: 59.940059
    They are m2t files
Here's the problem. I cannot use these video clips in Vision Lab Studio because it does not support MPEG or m2t files (Actually the same thing, let's not get off track) Vision Lab wants .avi files. When you convert a 1440x1080 video to 720x480 you loose a lot of video quality. This is where the biggest degredation in my quality happens in my work flow when I import the clips into APE7 and use the available presets for .avi files (All "DV AVI"  = a 720x480 video)
I'm fine with using an MPEG setting at 1440x1080 in APE7 for my final edit with sound, however the video quality of the clips I exported with VFX from Vision Lab already suck becaue they were downgraded from 1080 to 720.
I need a way to convert my 1440x1080 m2t files to 1440x1080 .avi files so I can retain video quality when doing VFX in Vision Lab. I'm trying to find a way to do this in APE7. If it's not possible then I need to find another way to do it. In the last hour I have been playing with the trial version of AVS Video Converter on the assumption that if it works I can just convert all the video clips I need for my projects that way, do VFX in Vision Lab, and then do my final edit with sound in APE7.
I hope this all makes sense.
