Found 25 Untrusted Publishers after Microsoft Windows Update

Internet Explorer 11.  Received a telephone call from livetechoncall.com stating he is a Microsoft Certified Professional and my computer is sending messages to the main server relative to a Trojan in my PC (which also killed my Nortons Security
Suite). He said he can fix it with remote access to my computer, providing I make a payment of $99 for a 15 day warranty (and several higher rates for more coverage ). His website does not have a SSL secure payment feature.
First question...Is there a current list of  Microsoft Certified Professionals online. I have a gut feeling this may be a scam and he may be a hacker.
I deleted the Untrusted Publisher Certificates and no longer saw any stopped processes in the Administrative Tools (Services folder).
The following day I reinstalled Windows 7 from the built-in System Recovery, back to the original factory settings. Everything was working fine until a large Microsoft update (which included SP1 and Internet Explorer 11) resulted
in 25 Untrusted Publisher Certificates. And several of them are  Fraudulent Microsoft Certificates. I performed several Recoveries, but untrusted certificates keep coming back after Microsoft updates. I am
concerned the Trusted Root Certificates may have been altered, but won't see any errors.   What should I do now?

Thanks EriicLaw [Ex-MSFT0] for your advice NOT delete the untrusted certificates.
My Internet Explorer was corrupted again. It kept showing a box stating that windows would inform me about the problem, but it never did inform me. Each time I close that box, the same box would reappear.  An automatic Google Chrome
update occurred the day before, and I noticed the Google Home page on IE was an OLD google format,  showing many options to the left and under the favorites bar (i.e. images, maps, etc). The next day is when I started having issues and connectivity errors.  I
had to perform a system image restore back to 6/1/2014-8/24/2014.  After windows restore was completed the IE became operational again.
There were no untrusted publisher certificates until after the first window 7 updates occurred. I still have 129 Windows updates yet to be performed and NOW  25 Untrusted Certificates on Windows 7 Home Premium.
I looked up the DigiNotar and Microsoft untrusted certificates and was informed
The Microsoft has entered them into the Untrusted List.
Thanks to you, I won't delete any of the untrusted certificates.
God Bless.

  • IE 11 links open to Blank page after last Window update

IE 11 links open to Blank page after last Window update, I tried every trouble shooting and suggestions I could find in all forums but to no avail.
    Operating system Win 8.
will try any suggestions and report back.

    Hi,
Not sure whether you have tried these methods, if yes, keep trying the others.
1.Run IE with no add-ons firstly.
Click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Internet Explorer (with no add-ons).
If works, please follow the steps to narrow down which add-on cause the issue.
Start IE>Press Alt to show the menu bar>On the Tools menu, click manage add-ons>under show, click All add-ons>disable half add-ons one time for quick narrow down>restart IE.
    2.Try resetting IE.
Start IE>Press Alt to show the menu bar>On the Tools menu, click Internet options>Advance>Reset>restart IE.
    3. This is caused due to some registry problems occurred. To resolve this issue, follow the below steps:
Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
Type regsvr32 actxprxy.dll in the Open box, and then click OK.
If the command was successfully executed, you will receive the message ‘DllRegisterServer in actxprxy.dll succeeded’ window.
    Restart the Internet Explorer
4.if still not work, run system restore.

  • Start up slow after a windows update

I feel a little slow in windows start up in my notebook after a windows update, I have downloaded an install an update about 800mb but all components have not been installed successfully, again after one day back there was another update and it has installed successfully in complete.
Is updating windows affect to slow down the PC performance?
    Seek your expert advices?
    Tnx.

You have probably installed too many updates. Windows Update puts many files on the computer to update files. Follow these steps to remove some leftover files.
    1. Click Start.
    2. Search for "Disk Cleanup".
    3. Open Disk Cleanup
    4. Let it search for Windows Update Files. (I don't remember what the actual name is)
    5. Have it clean those files.
    You're done!

  • Lost all bookmarks in my user profile after latest microsoft windows update on 5/15/15

Last night at 2am when I went to hibernate my computer as I usually do, I saw that there were some automatic windows updates to be installed. Since I have Windows XP and Microsoft has supposedly ceased support, I cancelled the hibernation and got on the internet to make sure that Microsoft was pushing out these updates and what they were for. Everything seemed kosher so I closed the internet and all of my programs, and proceeded to shut down the computer allowing the updates to install.
Much to my chagrin this morning, I discovered that my user profile had essentially been wiped out. The user profile name was still there and the password still worked, but when I got in the whole profile had been restored to its initial settings. Most of my files that I had on the desktop are gone and when I launched FireFox, it had been reverted to its originally downloaded version (years ago) and all of my many, many bookmarks were gone. I did find some files in My Documents, but the bulk of the documents were not under my documents and appear to be gone.
I did find some files in a TEMP folder and saved all of those. Fortunately I did back up my computer about a month ago, but stupidly did not back up my bookmarks. I do have a back up from a couple of years ago that I can retrieve, but everything since then appears to be gone. There are many files in the TEMP file that I cannot identify and am hoping and praying that my bookmarks are still in the midst of them. I did a search for Mozilla FireFox profiles through my dos prompt, but it only found a default profile that is likely associated with my admin user account that I generally do not work on for security purposes.
I have searched all day on the internet for solutions with no luck. I would be most appreciative if anyone can provide some guidance that may be of help.

Hello, got a problem connecting to my wifi: every time I start up my Laptop (5 year old Toshiba Satellite L300) the wificonnections are listed but windows is unable to connect to the WIFI. Wificonnection states unable to connect, after running Windows Network
Control the issue is found en the WIFI connects correctly.
I need to run the troubleshooter every time after staring up windows in order to get my wifi running, this is rather annoying..
Does anybody have a solution? I downloaded and installed the latest driver from intel, and also tried to enter below without any improvement.
netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)
netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)

    Hi,
With the google translate, It seems that you are facing with the following problem:
A network cable is not connected correctly or may be damaged
Problem with wireless adapter or access point
For this issue, I suggest you try the following steps:
Try with another account, or test with another system, another cable.
    Reinstall network adapter.
Open  Device Manager then Network Adaptors, find the wireless NIC and choose properties then open the power management tab and uncheck the one that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
Test this issue in safe mode with networking
Windows Startup Settings (including safe mode)

Does this work? and I would be appreciate if you could update the diagnostics with English.

  • Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V guests lose NIC after recent Windows Update

    Hi Folks,
I have  a Windows 2008R2 Hyper-V server with 20 guests.  They have been using a standard network adapter for 2 years.  Last night after running this months windows updates on a number of the guest VMs, each running Windows 2008R2 some of these
adapters disappeared.  That is they are not visible in "network adapters" on the guest VM, the static IP configuration is gone and instead the VM had a dynamically assigned IP shown in IP config to a Microsoft VM bus network adapter #2.
The other machines that didn't have updates run on them and have adapters visible show a Microsoft VM bus network adapter.
I don't see anything obvious in event viewer.
I've done the basic "reinstall integration services" but it still doesn't show a configurable network adapter.
I've uninstalled the windows updates and "reinstalled integration services" no luck.
Does anyone have recommendations on next steps?
I'll update the post as I move forward.
    Thanks,
    Ivan

    Hi,
Could you try to show the hidden device in the device manager, you can refer the following article to show the hidden device:
How to Find a Lost, Missing, Hidden or Removed Network Card (NIC) or Other Device and Even Remove it
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/danstolts/archive/2010/09/25/how-to-find-a-lost-missing-hidden-or-removed-network-card-nic-or-other-device-and-even-remove-it.aspx#sthash.z6jSu8tZ.dpuf
If you can see the lost NIC adapter then try to remove it uninstall it then rescan the device to see if there have the virtual NIC adapter found.
    Hope this helps.

  • 80246002 error after installing Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.320

This problem prevents Windows Update from being able to search, download, and install updates.
I am experiencing this issue on machines running Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 Enterprise (I imagine this an issue with Windows Update and not the OS so this is probably affecting other OS' as well).
This problem is becoming widespread quickly.
The proposed fix (method 1) in the article below did not resolve the problem:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958056/en-us
Note: Method 2 is not viable when applying more than one update at a time especially when you are updating multiple machines.
Several others are posting similar problems:
    http://windowsitpro.com/windows-update/tracking-error-80246002-windows-update-problem
    http://forums.techguy.org/windows-7/1132320-windows-update-problems-4.html
This is preventing scheduled server maintenance from being performed.
Could this be a targeted attack? Happening at the end of the week before a long holiday weekend is not leaving me with a very good feeling...
I would hope that fixing this issue would be a very high priority.
BTW - There is no "Windows Update Issue" forum category that I could find - If there is, sorry for posting in the wrong area.
    Cheers,
    Jeff

    My fix that worked...
Reviewed the operational log for the WindowsUpdateClient (buried in the Event viewer here:
Application and Services Logs -> Microsoft -> Windows -> WindowsUpdateClient -> Operational
After review, I noticed that event 30 "Windows Updates established connectivity" was no longer occurring and that event 42 "There has been a change in the health of Windows Update" was the only thing after the error (Event 25 "Windows Update failed
to check for updates with error 0x80246002")
Even though the machine was restarted after applying the "Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.320" patch and I had tried restarting the Windows Update service, the service appears to be hung.
    Solution:
1.) restart the Windows update service
2.) monitor the operational log for the WindowsUpdateClient (refreshing every 5-10 seconds)
3.) verify that event 30 happens (you should see event 38 after restarting the service followed by (2) event 42, then event 30)
4.) Once event 30 happens go to the Windows update GUI and run the "Check for updates" - yay!
5.) You can go back into the operational log and see event 26 "Windows Update successfully found x updates" followed by an event 40 for each update found.
What is really strange is that I checked the first machine that experienced the problem and it magically fixed itself.
It seems like this may have been caused by DDOS attack on the source for windows updates that the Windows Update service connects to. Or the source location was having maintenance performed.
Regardless, in my case, this was not a problem with the OS or the patch but the inability for the Windows Update Service to establish connectivity.
    Hope that helps somebody :)
    Cheers,
    Jeff

  • HP Deskjet printer 4645 is not taking print after installing windows update

Iam using HP Deskjet 4645 printer at home. After installing updated drivers from HP it works very fine but after updating windows it doesnt print from microsoft office 2013 as wel as word pad. it prints well from notepad and e print. When I contacted HP
for this problem, they told me that problem is with microsoft windows 8.1 and I should contact Microsoft for the problem. Please help

HP service center is telling that the problem is not from HP side but it is from Microsoft windows 8.1.
Do they like the driver that it is using?  Usually it is their driver but quite old.  E.g. they probably didn't try to provide one specifically for W8.1 but it is their responsibility to do so; otherwise they are in effect saying that they do not
    support W8.1 with that device.
Notice that your printer does not appear in this list?
HP Printers - Supported HP Printers for Windows 8
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03168175
And that is W8.  Who knows what all they stopped supporting for W8.1?

  • After a windows update, iTunes opens with no library

My computer was recently updated by Windows Update, and rebooted. iTunes may have been running. After the re-boot. I opened up iTunes, and there is nothing in the library. it is empty. Similarly, there is nothing in my podcasts. I looked for my music libraty (37GB) and found it just where it was supposed to be:
    C:\Documents and Settings\mcv\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music
I have not updated my iPod since this.
How can I resrtore my music library and podcast subscriptions?
    intel2.4gHz   Windows XP Pro

OK, I figured out what had happened. after iTunes apparently exits, it is not done. I had windows explorer open and I saw that several new files get created, they are temp files, including one called iT.tmp. These files are apparently used to reindex the music library. evetually, the iT.tmp file gets remnamed to iTunesLibrary.itl, and the iTunesMusicLibrary file is rewritten. You can watch this happen after iTunes closes. so, when you exit iTunes, it is not done....it will take about 15 more seconds to finish.
so, in MYcase, where a windows update was done, Windows closed itunes, and thinking it was done, rebooted my machine. This caused the trouble I had.
While my iTunes library is about 40GB, I will make some eforts to back this up regularly. you should also backup the ItunesLibrary.itl file and the iTunesMusicLibrary.xml file. You will also notice a couple of other temp files in the iTunes directory. probably no need to back these up.

  • Why does 1 speaker crack when i click on different items (not all) after hp/windows updates?

After installing several updates for Windows 7 & HP g72010nr at the same time, 2 problems have occured. 1 speaker cracks real loud when I click on different items (not everything) AND when running DVDs there are ripples all throught the movies. It's been about a month or more & I don't remember which updates they were since this is a new computer, I've had so many of them. Any quick fixes? Thanks in advance.

Cool! If you dont have it already you can download Microsoft Security Essentials, which I use on my personal computer. There are TONS of virus scanners out there but I find this one to work well for me. Here is where you can get it if your interested: http://goo.gl/XF4L1

  • After recent windows updates, some users' task bar disappears

    Hello,
I have just installed a number of updates to my LAN via WSUS.
After these updates were installed on the WIN 7 workstations, some of the users are reporting that their taskbar is missing.
Once they reboot, it comes back up, and after a couple days go by, it disappears again.
Has anyone else seen this issue with the recent updates?
Is there a hotfix for this other than rebooting?

    Hi,
    Sorry for the late reply.
When this issue occurred, please check the event viewer to see if there is any error information about this problem.
Also, check this following registry path to make sure winlogon launch Windows Shell:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
    Shell = “explorer.exe”
    UserInit = “userinit.exe”
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
    Shell = “explorer.exe”
    UserInit = “userinit.exe”
We can try to install the hotfix to update the related file to check how it works:
The Taskbar is reset to the default settings when you use the "Automatically Log On" feature in Windows 7 and in Windows Server 2008 R2

  • Blue screen after installing windows update

I get this error message after I install the windows updates. I have the K8n Neo Platinum with Nvidia Nforce 3 250gb chipset. I am running XP X64. The computer runs great until I do the windows update. I have tried changing setting in the bios but that don't matter. Here are 3 pix. I had to take them quick so they aren't very good. I am right now re-formatting again so I am on my other computer.
OK how do you add pix from a digital camera on this forum??? ,
Here is what it says. stop: c000021a (fatal system error) this session manager initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000263 (0x00000000 0x00000000) the system has been shut down.
It then goes into a reboot mode and comes back with the same blue screen error code.
    Help

I e-mailed MSI tech support today also about the problem. A month ago I did the same thing. The tech said "oh I haven't heard of that happening before"  So thanks for the link. I can't wait to get the "haven't had that happen before" DUUHHHH again. I will just link them. A month ago I wrote went through about 10 of the updates. Doing a re-install, updating and see what happens. I wrote down a couple of them that cause problems. It was just way to much work to time consuming so I just stopped.
I don't quite understand that voltage thing with the processor. I would think you should be able to set the bios to "fail safe setting" and it should run and do everything.
It don't look like they posted a fix for this problem. But I didn't install any of the security updates anyways. I wonder if it is just my Motherboard or what. There must be someone out there who is running x64 with one of these boards.
    thanks again.
