Found a major bug in AME 6.0.1 - Anyone else experiencing this?

When exporting media from Premiere 6.0.1 on a Windows 7 64bit machine with an I7 Quad core with Hyperthreading and 16GB of Ram with NVidia Cuda card (Mercury Engine Acceleration enabled) I encounter an issue where AME hangs. I can export media fine under all but one circumstance. If the media has no "Accelerated" effects added, I can export either directly in Premiere or queued in AME with no problems. As soon as I add any ACCELERATED effects to a clip, whether it's rendered entirely or not, I can no longer export the clip in AME, yet it will export just fine in Premiere. Upon attempting to export in AME, it looks like it starts, though I see no preview of the export and the remaining time indicated just keeps climbing very quickly. A clip that will export with accellerated effects in a matter of seconds in Premiere will climb to hours remaining in AME. If I click 'Stop' on this export in AME, AME just hangs (not responding) and I must close it entirely.
This happens with various types of files exporting to any number of different codecs. The only way I can get the file to export properly with the accelerated effects in AME, is to switch the Mercury Engine Playback to Software (Cuda disabled) in Premiere first, and then encoding takes longer. Never encounted this in CS5 on the exact same machine.
One other small bug I found, is that if I create a preset with given settings for exporting having first unselected "Keyframe every 'X' frames" under the advanced settings in the video tab, when I later select that preset, the box next this setting is rechecked, despite it being unchecked when creating the preset. Also, sometimes I notice this box rechecks itself even if I just make changes under the audio settings tab.

I use the GeForce GTS 360M - of course, not a supported card, though using the CUDA hack, so guessing most people will attribute it to this. Though did not have this issue with CS5. Found someone here with the exact same problem, though with an officially supported card:

Looks like I will just have to use this work around, by rendering my timeline first with MPE CUDA enabled, then disable it, select "keep previews," then export - at least for any clips with accelerated effects.
Not entirely sure why it would matter what the preferences are set to in Premiere when sending an export to AME. Oh well. Maybe a future update will fix this.
If I didn't travel so much, would simply build a desktop with a supported card. My Asus G51JX laptop with 8 logical cores and 16GB of ram is sufficient for the work I do, though I know some people may chime in here and say I need a system with at least 24GB of ram and a minimum of 17TB of HD space in various raid arrays.
Anyways, if anyone does find a solution, please let me know. Thank you.

What upgrade did you apply? As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

I have found since updating to the new firefox that certain links no longer work. Has anyone else experienced this. It is becoming a real issue.

For example, google search page links or links on certain web sites work in Safari but in firefox they are simply dead.
Clicking on some google search page links takes you to a blank page or one with an error message. Links on shopping pages and credit card sites are non-responsive, for example, to download statements.

Has anyone else experienced problems with the disc burner/driver software not being found?

I am trying to burn music onto a disc and it is telling me that the disc burner/driver software has not been found. Has anyone else experienced this with their MacBook Pro?

SuperDrives wear out - it seems that yours might be on the verge of a mechanical failure. I'd just replace it, buying a new drive from Other World Computing and installing it yourself (because Apple would charge a small fortune).

Persistent Aggregates bug with logic - anyone else see this ?

A long while ago I posted a bug report regarding the use of aggregates with the Stealthplug guitar audio interface. I also reported this on the apple bug report system.
Basically, when using Logic8 with stealthplug and OSX Tiger ( latest 10.4 ) I configured an aggregate using AudioMIDI setup program, configuring Stealthplug as the input and the built in audio as the output.
When one creates an audio track with the aggregate name selected I Logic8
preferences INITIALLY one can get audio input to show up, the "record" button appears and one can hear audio output to the main macbook audio outputs. However on repeated use and selection/deseletion of the particular named aggregate one finds that the stealthplug input is no longer enabled ( the record button disappears).
I found out recently that if I delete the aggregate ( I only had one aggregate st up ) and create a NEW aggregate, this time with a different name, but with the same settings ( stealthplug as input, built in outputs as output ) then one can get the aggregate to work initially in logic8. However after a few sessions, or switching between audo devices in preferences, the aggregate again fails to work, by this i mean I no longer get the "R" button appearing in the channel strip for the input.
Stealthplug works fine when selected itself if one selects this as the device, but NOT when used through an aggregate. I suspect this is something to to do with aggregates and not stealthplug.
My suspicions is that it has something to do with the way logic8 or the CoreAudio system stores its aggregate preference information since I find that if I delete the original aggregate but recreate the same aggregate settings using a different name then the aggregate will work for a short time.
This really needs fixing since aggregates are potentially so useful.

Well I can say that after installing updates to QuickTime is appears I have been having a lot of trouble with Aggregate Devices as well. I use 2 896HD MOTU interfaces and after a few sessions of Logic, the Aggregate device stops working. I can either (a) reset the computer, (b) sometimes reset the coreAudio driver (works rarely) or (c) create a new Aggregate device like you have and it all starts working again.
Even worse, some of my USB MIDI interfaces like the Fantom X7 just loose connection as well. If I remove the USB and then plug back in, it's recognized again immediately.
Something is seriously broken and I have NO clue where to begin to help fix it. The only thing I could do is re-install OSX 10.5 and not do the quicktime updates and see if that helps. Unfortunately, that is a LOT of work! (I use like 146 AU plugins total).

Has anyone else noticed this bug with multitasking gestures on iOS 5?

I recently updated my iPad 2 to iOS 5 and have just noticed this bug with multitasking gestures.
If you're currently in an app and use the four-finger swipe up to open the app switcher, and then subsequently close another app that's open in the background from the switcher, the app doesn't seem to fully close. What I mean is that if you now use the four-finger swipe right/left to switch apps, when you get to the place where that app you closed was, it's still open, and after you view it, it pops back into the app switcher. It seems like the multitasking gestures feature isn't recognizing that you've closed the app and that it should skip it from now on.
If you do the above steps again, but this time after you close the app from the switcher, use the five-finger pinch to go back to the home screen, it seems to clear the "cache" being used by the the gestures feature. Now if you go back into any app and swipe left to right, the closed app won't load up anymore (which is how it should correctly work).
Has anyone else noticed this, or can anyone else reproduce the bug as I described? I'd appreciate it if an Apple employee could confirm that this is a bug in iOS 5 and not just something wrong on my end. Thanks in advance.

A vibrate issue I have noticed in the 10.x firmware. Steps to replicate...
1. Put phone into silent mode or any other mode where the phone is set to vibrate when a call comes in (You can actually do this at any point before step 4).
2. Put your N95 into landscape mode and watch a video or play music (You may optionally plug in some headphones if you wish).
3. Close the video down, take headphones out, put phone back into standby.
4. Call yourself or get someone to call you from another phone.
5. Your phone will not always vibrate when the call comes in even though its supposed to. I tried this ten times and it only vibrated as it was supposed to during 3 of those attempts.
So far I can't work out whether this is caused by inserting headphones or making use of the media buttons by sliding the slider down.
Anyone else noticed this?

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

I did it the .dmg way alone and has problems with itunes crashing. This is a better way to ensure that there is not anything left behind to cause issues.
You need to backup your computer then uninstall I-tunes and reinstall itunes.
Delete iTunes
Deleting iTunes is not recommended unless you know what you’re doing.
Launch Terminal from the UTILITIES within Applications
Type the following commands:
cd /Applications/
This brings you into the Applications directory, the next command deletes iTunes itself:
sudo rm -rf iTunes.app/
Enter the Administrator password to confirm
There is no warning or confirmation other than entering the admin password, iTunes will immediately be deleted, effectively uninstalling it from the Mac.
Deleting the iTunes application will NOT delete the ITUNES or music, and any purchases bought through iTunes will still remain tied to the Apple ID used to originally buy them.
You can download the newest version from Apple, and running their installer will bring iTunes back to life on your computer.

Odd bug... anyone else seeing this?

I have had this three or four times already and haven't seen any posts about this. Sometimes I fully charge my PlayBook, use it for a little while, put it to sleep and leave it somewhere. When I come back a few hours later the BlackBerry logo on the back is warm and when I wake it up the battery is almost drained... or well on it's way to being drained.
I am pretty sure it is just a software issue, and am looking for a connection to anything so it can be easily recreated. I initially thought it might have been tied to using pdf's but I don't believe that is the case. I am trying to make it so that my wife and I close all of the apps when putting it to sleep to see if that helps.
And for the record, my PlayBook is one of the units with the flush power button which my wife just cannot figure out so she lets it timeout ( no matter how much I show her how easy the button is to use ). I have seen this issue happen when I put it to sleep with the button as well, though. Please, RIM, for the love of God add a sleep button to the power app...
Has anyone else noticed this bug? Is it just me? I tried searching the forums but seemed to only come up with threads about charging.

Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls, such as lost ratings and playlist membership.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)

My service provider says everything should be working fine, I still have the 3G symbol and full bars.

Somebody clearly hasn't read the User Guide.
Basic troubleshooting steps are retart, reset, restore from backup, restore as NEW.
If you have tried ALL of these steps and you're still having problems, then you need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation.

No need to apologize, Jim. I think your rant was justified. For years people have been telling me how easy the Mac was to use. Imagine my frustration when I finally learned from friends and users that it takes weeks or months to make the transition from Windows to Mac.
Still, I agree that I acted to too hastily when I returned my mini-mac to the store only three days after I bought it.
I'm going to try again, this time with an iMac. This time I'll keep it. Since this thread is for the mini-Mac only, I'll probably be starting a new one for the iMac.
Why did I decide to try again? Well, I do like the faster speed and compact hardware of the Macs. I also like the fact that I can install Windows and use that for my programs until I transition completely to Mac, IF I make the complete transition.

Hi if you will notice the files are arranged by types...
on the first two left lanes its working good.. sorted by PDF Documents, DOcumnets, Movies etc... on the right lane... it's sorted but if you will notice..
it shows up as Folders.. and it's not looking the same as the other two left lanes..
With the name and then a line under to make it look nice..
I want this bug fixed.. it drives me crazy... did it happend to anyone else before?
