Frame drivers - control of frame?

I have a frame driver which calls a form. The form is based on a procedure.
From within the procedure I call the frame driver again.
In Webdb22 I was able to control the frame names, and targets, and thus could get the 2nd call of the frame driver to display in the same place the when called the 2nd time as the first.
In Portal30 I don't see a way to set frame names for frame drivers.
1) is there a way that I can name the frames?
2) if not, how can I call the frame driver from PL/SQL with one of the standard targets (_blank, _parent, etc.).

Frame Driver can be used without rendering it as portlet. I am giving you a simple example:
Say you have four charts:
1) Chart_1, 2) Chart_2, 3) Chart_3, 4) Chart_4
You can create a frame driver "Chart_Frame" as:
Select 'Chart 1' Chart, 'Schema1.chart_1.show' url from dual
union
Select 'Chart 2' Chart, 'Schema1.chart_1.show' url from dual
union
Select 'Chart 3' Chart, 'Schema1.chart_1.show' url from dual
union
Select 'Chart 4' Chart, 'Schema1.chart_1.show' url from dual
Now create a site "Site1".
Add an item of type "URL" with url as: http://machine name:port/pls/portal dad/schema1.Chart_Frame.show
You can set "Link That Displays Item In New Browser Window"
I hope you can use it like this.

Thanks for that suggestion, but still it did not work. I am working on a theory that certain adjustments to the embedded text pane didn't get properly propagated up the component hierarchy. I wouldn't be surprised if something broke the component communication.
The curious thing is that the scrollpane seems to know how big the viewport is, but the scrollbar finds the wrong "0" point.
I am making a little progress. I will post my solution here, if and when I find it.

Cisco Nexus 5K's Tx Pause Frames with no Rx frames

We have an EMC SAN connected via 10G links on a 5010. At some times we have iSCSI disconnects generated by the SAN.
We are seeing Tx pause frame, but no Rx frames. No packet loss, no errors. The "normal" utilization is around 23Mbit.
Under what conditions might this happen?

I cannot answer your question but confirm what you are seeing. As far as I am aware of these Tx pause frames are send from the SP when it cannot catch up with switch. If you will re-act on the pause frames you have to activate flow-control on that particular interface. I would expect that the iSCSI protocol handles the session so that it doesn't loose any packets
It is local control packets between the SP's I/F and the Nexus I/F and the nexus hasn't got much buffering to pace a flow with.
We are seeing this behavior between nx5010 switches and EMC VNX5500 SAN. I don't think your disconnects have any thing to do with the pause frames.

In the Timeline, go to the first frame and press M to put a marker on it. Go to the other frame you want to jump to and put a marker on that one too.
Now press Ctrl+Semicolon to go to the previous marker - or Ctrl+Comma to go to the next marker.

How can we get the reference of XML element on frame as soon as frame is created in Document?

When ever we copy any text/table cells from any frame, and paste it directly on page, A new Frame is created and the pasted text is placed inside that frame.
Now to capture this frame creation, We have two possible solutions:
1) Attach Observer on Document 'kDocBoss' on IID_IHIERARCHY_DOCUMENT and it will notify on frame creation in update function.
2) Notification event on new story creation.
Now, I need to perform some changes in the newly created table, for example:
a) Need to delete XML tags from newly created frame
b) Need to perform action on table cells if any in the created frame.
But the problem is, when the event comes, I can access basic properties of frame like it's name, type etc, but it does not give me the
XML element on frame or tables in frame until the event is com pleat.
I know it's quite a specif requirement, but I guess many of you might have faced these kind of challenges, while processing the event.
Does any one has any idea how I can get the reference of XML element on frame as soon as it is created?

Anyway, I'd keep the story creation responder to recognize the copy, then combine it with an observer on the backing xml story to catch the associated XML element which is created there. Something like below:

Passing data from a panel to a frame / disposing of a frame from in a panel

Hello, I have recently created a program where all windows are made of seperate frames, now, to make the whole thing a bit more appealing and professional looking, i'd like to make 1 main frame, and load my content panels into this 1 frame. Problem i'm having with this is passing data from the loaded in panel to the main frame, so the main frame can hide one panel to load another with data inserted in the first panel. OR another solution to my problem would be a way to dispose of a frame, but from within the seperate panel class. I have searched the www for a solution, but haven't found one so far, so, any suggestions or references to some info about this kind of issue? Any pointer is greatly appreciated

Script works in one frame, but not with frames before it

I'm a complete AS/Flash n00b, but hoping that I can get some guidance on this.
I'm trying to test a very simple function for an e-learning module that is to train people on using 'quick keys' or key combinations on their keyboard. Basically, I want to show them a command and have them practice. In the practice, they will be asked to use a command and then have to do it on their keyboard.
I used the code below successfully with one frame and a couple layers. I created a text-area ("traceArea), put it on the stage, set up the event and function... it works great! (although I'm sure the code isn't very pretty) When anything other than ctrl-p is pressed, it traces the "Try again!" message and when ctrl-p is pressed, "Great job!" pops up.

When I run this file, there are no errors, but when it gets to that last frame, nothing is traced and there is no output on any keyboard command. I know the solution must be pretty easy, but I'm missing it and have no idea what it might be!

Which media server protocols enable frame accurate seeking and frame stepping in players? (It appears that RTMP does. However, what about HDS? What about HLS?)
Why is it that some do and some don't? (Intuitively, this would seem to be more an issue of the player than the protocol, but then maybe it has something to do with the buffers and the specific information passed to the client.)
For those protocols that do support frame accurate seeking and frame stepping in players, does the addition of Access DRM protection have any effect? (Intuitively, I would say no, but then maybe there are configuration changes needed in AMS to make it work.)

I searched for a DVD player with a jog shuttle -- and you're right. They're all but impossible to find! I havent' found one made in the past 5 years!
I don't know of any way you could accomplish the same thing with software either.
Most DVD players have slow-motion and frame-by-frame features. (Even my cheap $40 Toshiba.) That may be the closest to it.

Refreshing one frame only in a frame page

Pls help....i have this frame page with 4 frames. each one when click targets to another one on the same page...The last frame is a page which has 2 buttons Delete and Confirm and it has checkboxes.....when the checkbox are clicked and user clicks on Delete this specific frame page needs to be refresh and display the upated value....Right now it when i click on delete, it is being redirecting to blank window with the updated value and i need to click back to see the frame pages and the frame updated..which i do not want. Upon clicking Delete i want this specific frame to refresh and display the updated value....Pls help meeeeeeeeeee

How to Embed a Text Frame Within a Text Frame with Smart Text Reflow

This is driving me nuts, and I've wasted hours searching exhaustively but can't seem to find the answer.
I've been working with this indesign file and cleaning it up really well. I now have all the text flowing with smart text reflow. There are two parts in the book that have columns of information, or tables. The way it was originally done was having a text box placed inside the text box. But unfortunately, whenever you add pages before or after, the text box won't follow with the text box it is inside. I have tried grouping the two text boxes together, but this doesn't seem to work with Smart Text Reflow (since every page is based on the primary master). How do you embed a text frame inside another text frame that is based off the primary master? I guess it would be like using the text frame as an object.
I included an image to help my explanation.
I even tried adding columns and then spannign the header part across, but this still doesn't flow with the rest of the text.

ANchor it into the other text fram, look in the help file. Keyword = Anchored Objects.

"How to split threaded text frames to single ones?"
"SplitStory.jsx" or "BreakFrame.jsx" under Scripts/Samples indeed could be the answer.
From the comments in the code of "BreakFrame.jsx":

Drop Frame and Non Drop Frame

Does QuickTime Pro 7 allow you to select between drop frame and non-drop frame?

I don't understand your question.
QuickTime Player will automatically reduce the implied frame rate to maintain the file playing. You can observe this by viewing any HD movie trailer on a non supported OS.
Frame rate drops so much that the file is nearly not viewable yet the audio portion continues to play back without issue.
The QuickTime author can't set these parameters and QuickTime Pro users can override the issue by selecting to "Play All Frames". This can quickly bring playback to its knees on older systems but it will not drop any frame during playback. It may take two days to view each frame of a 1080 HD movie trailer on a G3 but you should see each one.

Drop Frame or Non Drop Frame in HDV format

I am still learning all new things about HDV, so I am wondering what is the correct frame setting when shooting in HDV. In DV I have always used drop frame, because 29.89 frame rate. But what about HDV? Is that the same idea, or is the frame rate different? And how does FCP recognize this?

It doesn't matter. Shooting DF or NDF doesn't matter. The frame rate is the same, just the way the frames are counted is different:
