Smartphone Talk Free Promotion

I am currently under a Family Plan, and recently I switched my phone to an HTC Touch from my Samsung i760. I switched back (the Touch doesn't have WIFI) and I noticed a bit of information on the activation page.
" If you make certain changes to your service, your Smartphone Talk Free promotion will be removed.If your plan includes the Smartphone Talk Free Promotion, the following conditions apply:
You must keep the $29.99 Data Package associated with your eligible Smartphone device
You must keep your current plan. If you change Minutes, Text, or Data, the promotion and the $9.99/line/mo.
Credit will be removed.

I am not currently enrolled in a data plan, in fact I have a data block set up. What does this Smartphone Talk Free Promotion mean?

The only part I don't understand about the above paragraph is the part about the Unlimited Data Plan. Our family plan doesn't include a data plan at all. I was able to switch back to my i760 without changing my plan at all.
From Google, I believe I've found what's up: when I activated my phone, I specifically asked them not to activate it with a data plan and it took them a while. They must have put me on the Smartphone Talk Free promotion, with the loophole that I didn't have to activate the data plan. Then, when I attempt to switch phones (luckily to another outdated smartphone), Verizon notifies me that if I don't switch to another smartphone, I may lose the promotion. To summarize, if I'd activated a Samsung Intensity instead, I would lose the promotion to use a smartphone w/o data.
Is this summary correct?

If you do not have an unlimited data plan associated with your shared line then you do not have the $9.99 Smartphone Talk Free promotion. The message you received was simply an automated disclosure based on the fact that you had a Smartphone active on your shared line and you may have had such promotion in place. Please disregard the message.
If you activate a Samsung intensity device you can reactivate your Smartphone later without a data plan as long as it was manufactured before November 13, 2008. All Smartphones manufactured November 14, 2008 or later require a data plan in order to be activated.

Where can I get or how to make a Halloween transition for family movie?

Ah, well now's a good time to learn something new.
You'll notice with a wipe transition, there's a seam where the images meet. If you have an image of a jack o lantern or something, use that object to hide the seam. Place it on a layer above your video layer. Load that image into the Viewer and keyframe the position of the object to animate it. You can keyframe almost any property in the Motion tab of the viewer.
Any way, just a thought. If you have Photoshop now would be a good time to learn selections and how to make images with alpha (transparent) channels just for this reason.

Online upgrade not showing the talk free promotion....

I was upgrading my daughter's phone from a Chocolate Touch to a Blackberry Bold and noticed that if I do it online I don't get the talk free promotion for upgrading to a smart phone. Is the promotion available online?

I believe many people have said that it will not show up on your "purchase of the items in the cart" when you buy it. It should automatically show up on your bill, not when you buy the phone. If you go look at the "smartphones talk free" promo details, it should say, at least the one on "newegg.com" clarifies that.

What do I need to do to modifiy a family movie using iMovie 08?

I have two old family movies already on a DVD, which I can play on any DVD player. I want to join both segments and add one of those nice interfaces that are available on iMovie but I don't know what to do so that iMovie can open it. I was told I need to convert the movies but I don't know which software to use on my iMac. I don't even know if I should use iDVD instead...

Is this a very difficult task? I posted same question at some other forums and still couldn't get a simple answer. I'm not trying to work on copy protected DVD's. Just a family movie...

Disney Digital Movies Gone

I recently had to reformat my computer and now my Disney Digital Movies are gone. Where did they go? Can I get them back? The other 2 digital movies are still there. Only the Disney are gone. Each was obtained by using the code that comes with some blu-ray/dvd purchases.

Cannot share Free App with my Family Sharing members

I am using iPhone 5s and bought iWork App (Pages, Number and Keynote) for free while iOS 7 launch in 2013. Recently, I upgraded to iOS 8 and enabled the "Family Sharing" with my wife. However, my wife who is using iPhone 5 with iOS 8 could not find the iWork Apps from her purchased list. How could I share these apps to her?

You can share your connection to the Internet, PROVIDED, you have different medium to share it on.
Example: Your computer is connected via Ethernet cable. You can share your connection via WiFi.
IF your computer is already connected via WiFi, it makes no sense to attempt to share via WiFI -- just use the WiFi directly on your Phone. If the other devices are too far away, move your Router closer to them.

Can I import one chapter of a dvd of old family movies to edit or do I have to import the entire dvd first?

Most probably not - not at all. I assume that Your DVD plays on any regular DVD-Player and if so the material on it is in a sort of .mpeg2 code and neither iMovie or iDVD can open this so to do what You want it needs to be converted into a codec they can open.
There are no standard way to do this on a native Mac (Yes one might ask why - indeed) so there are ways around this.
I prefer these of two methods
• connect a DVD-player to a miniDV Camera and copy to tape and use this
• or - Roxio Toast™ that can open the DVD and back engineer it into streamingDV that both iMovie and iDVD can use.
Best result is if You go directly to iDVD without any editing. But if material needs to be edited using iMovie HD6 or any version of FinalCut will keep quality as high as possibly. Using iMovie'08 or 09 or 11 will result in a quality loss depending on that they can not deliver interlaced video over to iDVD - so they lose every second line in the picture - less sharp result.

App store will not let me download the free Yosemite because a family member has already done so. Can I get it under family share?

I went to download the free version of OS X Yosemite, and when I clicked the "free" button a message appears saying that a family member has already downloaded it and the only option I have is to buy it. Can I access the free version through family share? If i leave family share can I download the free version?

We don't want you to leave your family!
I think that the best thing would be preparing an USB loader of the Yosemite installer and then use it for new installation process.

How do I find my Disney Anywhere movies in my linked iTunes Account

I'm sure there must be hundreds of "Frozen" purchasers with this problem.
I purchased the disk with "Digital Copy". When redeeming it says , "Disney Movies Anywhere Account and Itunes". It doesn not give you an Itunes only option. I followed the directions, shifting back and forth between Disney and Itunes entering codes etc.
Now it says my accounts are linked.
The Disney movies in my Itunes Account now show up on Disney Moves Anywhere.
BUT, my Frozen still does not show up in Itunes. It connected in one direction but not in the other.
I need the movie on my Macbook for the grandkids in the car, not in the cloud or on Disney Moves Anywhere.
Any help?

I have a similar issue. It does appear in my iTunes purchased list in iOS. However in the iOS videos app it does not appear as downloadable with the cloud icon next to it. I have to go into iTunes purchase history to download it locally. I have no option to stream the video. It does appear in the list on Apple TV however. Seems to be an issue with the videos app for iOS.

How to get to a specific movie in VOD?

There are thousands of movies in Video on Demand. How can I get straight to a specific one when I know the title? Must I scroll through a thousand of them to get to the one I want? Why can't I start typing the title, and have matches pop up (as in Netflix), or at least have some feature to fast scroll (i.e., page down)?
If I'm dumb, I'm no dumber than a Verizon help desk agent, because she searched for 20 minutes and couldn't figure this out either.

After launching VOD,press B button on th remote, it will launch search screen
And you can even get the search screen from Main Menu
Main Menu->Search->Press Options ->you will get the filters ->Choose on demand/Ondemand HD/Flexview ->add then enter the name of the movie you want

No, updates are free. You still have to have a valid iTunes Store account, though.

Why do I have to pay to download 'free' Yosemite for a family member?

I have installed Yosemite on my laptop. I would now like to install Yosemite on my kids laptops, using their apple IDs, but I get a message to tell me that I have to upgrade OS X and in order to do that I have to buy Yosemite. I thought this was a free upgrade. Does anyone have a similar problem?

OS 10.9.5 Mavericks on both... Their laptops are totally up to date with all software.
