  • Photoshop is really broken, help please

hi, i have had a problem for a while now and i am not really sure why.
My problem is using the brush tool in Photoshop, while i am using it, it is fine, there are no problems but when i unclick to stop drawing on my trackpad and try to to scroll using two fingers on my trackpad nothing happens, my artwork doesn't move until i them command click back into the photoshop window, it then goes crazy and does all of the scrolling i tried to do before i command clicked back in.
The same sort of thing is happening with a lot of the other tools, when i use the spot healing brush the area selected stays the dark grey colour until i command click back into photoshop then it will heal the area.
The lasso tool shows the selection but does not start the marching ants until i command click again. The polygon lasso tool lags behind clicks, for example, when i click nothing happens, i then click again and nothing will happen, when i click for the third time the first two dots then connect, when i click again the next dots will connect but will never connect to the last dot until i click i join the shape up and click once more, which then makes the shape disappear.
I am having the same sort of problem with the clone stamp tool, the history brush,  the eraser, the blur, sharpen, smudge, dodge, burn, sponge tools, i guess any tool that has a brush size. and all of the lasso tools. All of the other tools work fine to my knowledge.
I think it has something to do with apples track pad, today i tried using a mouse and it worked fine, i could draw a line and then scroll with the little ball in the apple mouse and it worked fine, but when i drew a line on my trackpad then tried to scroll with the mouse it didn't do anything until i command clicked. i then tried to click with the mouse and use the trackpad to scroll and that also worked fine.
Im currently using photoshop CC 2014 but i also had these issues in photoshop CC and i am pretty sure in photoshop CS6.
I am using a macbook pro retina 15 these are the specs
MacBook Pro   (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)
Processor   2 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory   8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics   Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
i also had the same problem with my 2012 Macbook pro 15.
i have searched for an answer to this but i can't seem to find anything on the internet, i had uninstalled and reinstalled photoshop,  i have reset all of the tool preferences, and deleted all of photoshops preferences when that didn't do anything.
any help would be very much appreciated
    thankyou
    Matty

I'd start by checking the drivers for the trackpad are up to date if there are such things on a Mac.

  • Wow iTune 10.4.1 update is really broken??

This is a horrible update, what the heck happened???
    1.  Search for music, in the result window, click on Name column header to short by song name and I get 2 minutes of beachball before it completes the sort??
    2.  Click on the play music icon to get song preview and nothing, nada, zip??
    3.  Interface is very slow
Anyway to go back to 10.4.0?

Yeah, Apple seem to have been screwing up their software side a lot lately -- not sure what happened, nor why that side of the business is having such a hard time delivering products without major issues.
I'm still running Snow Leopard and to be honest have NO plans to move to Lion.  The entire FCP X fiasco has left me using my Mac less and less.
If Apple doesn't care about their software side, I see no reason to care about Apple nor continue to buy their hardware/software.
Some of many examples of Apple just dropping the ball on the software side:
    1.  They refuse to fix www.me.com/mail on IE with Auto Draft feature clearing out text as one types
    2.  There servers (even this support site) are horribly slow
    3.  FCP X less functional that the older FCP 7
    4.  iTunes is now broken (how can you not catch a sorting issue)
    5.  No signs of "Cloud" computing
    6.  No signs of a new iWorks which I assume is tied to Cloud computing
    7.  Lion appears to be very buggy and breaks Safari (and seems to be lacking any significant features)
It's like Apple just cut 50% of their software developers so they could focus on iPad and iPhone exclusively.  Mr Jobs seems to feel the desktop computer is history and the laptop will be gone soon ... reality check anyone??  The majority of Apple buyers/comsumers:
    1.  Don't want to spend their life typing on a keypad intended for mice
    2.  Don't want to keep auto correcting the auto correct
    3.  Need more resolution that 1024 x 768 (circa 1992 standards)
    4.  Can watch BluRay at 1080p
    5.  Don't want to zoom in/out all the time
    6.  Voice recognition that works 100% of the time so we don't spend time correcting it
It's like Jobs is blind to the reality of limitation that these little devices (iPhone and iPad) impose on people -- some people can "live with it", but the majority of us like to move forward in technology NOT backwards just so you can make things "smaller".
Anyway, somewhat side tracked ... but I get the feeling the deterioration of quality software (i.e. tested) from Apple is directly being impact by Job's obsession with smaller more restrictive hardware such as iPad and iPhone.

  • Spaces has been broken (IMO) since 10.6 and is still broken in 10.6.3...

As many recall, Spaces was introduced in OS X 10.5 Leopard... From the get go I found it one of the most useful utilities to come along in a long time... What a great way to organize a desktop... I would set up Space 1 to be Web browsers, Space 2 for email clients, Space 3 for running Windows on my Mac, Space 4 for Excel and so forth... Twas wonderful... If I had multiple Excel spreadsheets open I could go find them all over in Space 4 and with no other clutter, just Excel, nice and clean...
And then Snow Leopard came along and it all changed... Since OS X 10.6 first came out and still through today in 10.6.3, on first open of a given application, as it should it will still open in its assigned Space, like for me, the first Excel document will still open in Space 4 no matter what Space I am in when I launch Excel... So far, so good...
But, for every subsequent opening of an Excel document, the document will open in whatever Space you happen to be in at the time... Busted... Almost worthless (IMO)... Why bother to have an assigned Space if in fact, it really isn't the Space where a given app's docs will open??? In Leopard they opened in one, defined Space... Made sense... In Snow Leopard, they open all over the place even if there is an assigned Space... Seems to make no sense...
But what I find amazing is almost no one seems to care... Myself and three or four other posters have been talking about this since Snow Leopard first came out... But no one else... And that same small group of folks have all used Feedback to let Apple know we think it was sooooo much more useful in Leopard, but update after update, it stays in this (IMO) far less useful mode...
One question I have is does the very small number of folks who have seemed to talk about this means that folks don't use Spaces???? Or does it mean that maybe I'm crazy and that others can imagine how the way it is deployed in Snow Leopard is not really broken but instead the way Apple intends it to work????
I've pretty much given up on Apple ever responding... I have actually gotten in the habit of manually switching to the Space BEFORE I open say a second or subsequent Excel doc into Space 4 (in my case). But that's more work, not less, and manually switching to the Space first seems to defeat the entire purpose for Spaces in the first place...
Anyway, if anyone has any comments I'd be interested in hearing them...
    thanks much... bob..

    Join the club Robert.
My huge annoyance is how Preview converts ai, .eps and .ps files to .pdf files.
It has progressively deteriorated from Tiger to Leopard to Snow Leopard.
In Leopard it defaulted to saving the .pdfs to the Documents folder not the place of origin and would regularly crash if more than a few (sometimes just 2) files were opened simultaneously.
In Snow Leopard nothing was fixed and now the names are stripped off the converted files so that they are all called Untitled.
Apple must have received hundreds of bug reports (I diligently sent one every time Preview crashed) and several feedbacks detailing the problem, to the point I believe persecuting Designers and ruining their work has become a NEXT programmers secret objective.
Except for a couple of minor bug fixes to do with drag & drop in Preview, I am puzzled where the so-called improvements in Snow Leopard really benefit user.

  • Broken CD-ROM drive on Satellite M30x

    Hi,
This is unusal I guess; I have bent the cd-rom tray on my Satellite m30x. When the tray was opened it got bent upwards slightly. Its not really broken but slight bent so that it no longers will close and if closed will unlikely open again.
Is it possible to replace this part of the laptop?
    Thanks,
    john

    1) Yes, you can replace the CD/DVD drive
    2) Its not very tricky to remove the CD/DVD drive from the notebook. Its secured with one screw at the bottom of the unit. Remove the screw securing the optical drive module and use your hand to push the module and then you can slide the module from the bay
    3) You will have to buy an compatible CD/DVD drive. The compatible drive could be ordered from your local Toshiba ASP

Now I feel dumb.. Links are working fine.. I promise they were really broken though.
Thanks, if someone happened to see this and fix it (or happened to talk to the lady I spoke with in tech support).

  • Pdf prints broken characters

I have a MacBookPro software Mountain Lion 10.8.3, Acrobat vs 10.1.7. Multiple-page pdf displays fine, prints broken characters??? Can I upgrade to Acrobat 11 to rectify problem? How?

Not all pdfs, just this particular 48-page document. I am using an HP
Officejet 6500A+ which has not had problems of this type in the past. The
driver version is 4.1.1. Some of the characters aren¹t really broken BUT ARE
MISSING when I try to print the pdf. (See copy attached with areas circled
that are missing.) I ran a print quality diagnostic report and nothing was
out of the ordinary, nor were any characters missing. (See second
    attachment.)
I¹m hoping you can help me find a solution. I really need to print this
    document.
    Thank you.

why are there so many broken packages? doesnt the maintainer run the findbrokenpkgs tool after they upgraded something?
Not everything is real because some stuff are optional dependencies, but a lot of stuff is also true

If we use Winzip 8.0, then we get several warnings about replacing files (really

We have downloaded three times the SP1 using FTP and HTTP with
    the same problem.
Can someone confirm us that the file is really broken?
    TIA

Please forgot the previous post, we have not read the
    new service package install procedure.
Using the method described in the docs
"java -cp file.zip install" works fine.
    Sorry.

  • IPhone 5c... broken??? Home screen won't show up and backlight won't turn off, vibrates constantly

So... as the title suggests, my iPhone 5c is acting up. I can't get the home screen to come on, but the backlight never turns off. People have suggested turning it off then back on, but because I can't see the home screen, the fact that I can't turn it off is most likely half the problem. On top of that, it is vibrating constantly, and I don't know if that's because I'm receiving messages (which is unlikely) or if it's just really broken... I recently downloaded iOS 8, but I haven't really had any problems with it. Pleaseeee helpppp

Yes, as rbrylawski stated, the toilet/water has finally finished off your phone. While it may have survived for a while, corrosion has done its evil job and killed your device. If you have Apple Care Plus, then you can get an out of warranty replacement for just the deductible. If not, then an out of warranty replacement will be a little more.

  • By Request . . . Can't connect to PC, get Broken Alias

Those of you that have been following this, I just found something very easy that I thought just might work and that was to delete any retained passwords in the Keychain for the machine I'm trying to connect to. Well all it got me was the login window for that PC, but every time I log in I get the Alias error.
    Next . . . .

Nope, no networked drives. The file that was in the trash was created on that partition in the previous install and I just didn't empty the trash prior to the installs.
I have a whole collection of older Macs and I tell ya as long as they work, they WORK! I have to run a $25K scanner off a Beige G3 running OS9 because the manufacturer refused to do an OSX version of their software. No big deal because I have yet to see software that can do what this does, so it's worth it. My ad agency is still running OS9 because most all of the designers have OSX at home and collectively agreed that if they had to run OSX, they'd be spending most of their time fixing or dealing with problems than getting work done. I love my employees. And I have NO Networking problems. Remote access is great, we move files all over and don't even blink. I'm still trying to figure out a safe way to let a vendor access my OSX machine with a PC to drop files without having access to my whole machine. Why can't PC's get the Public folders like Mac guests do and as easily?!
Since the delays of Leopard and the media blitz of Vista I got embarrassingly interested. Until I started to read the fine print and got a test copy. Interest over.
I was one of the first and most used people at a temp agency in the lated 80's, early 90's that when I had the choice at a clients of a Mac or PC, I would always choose the Mac because I could get the work done quicker and easier. A large aerospace firm that I eventually worked for full time publication department was all Mac and now it's PC. It's starting to become a toss up. I spend as much time dinking and repairing with this, as proclaimed by an Apple Rep outside my Apple Store the night OSX was first released "maintenance free OS", more that I ever have OS9. Even when it was really broken.
But as with 10.3.9, I swear that 10.4.9 was fouled with to get us to flee to 10.5. But the timing of 10.4.9 and the initial release of 10.5 would have worked. But since 10.4.9 was release and 10.5 delayed, we have to suffer through until 10.5 is released and if it works. I have played with the latest releases of 10.5 and it's not pretty. Makes perfect sense why it was delayed and I have been saying that since last Fall.
But I do have to make my living from a Mac and since 10.4.5 things have been slowly going wonky. I have strange and stupid things happening in every application, especially Adobe products. And this having to reset prefs and the lot after each restart and all the kernel panics since 10.4.9 is getting old quick. Screens, I have 3 main and one 35" TV as monitors that I can no longer color calibrate. Two of them have the blue tint that I read a lot about a while ago. I am now doing a lot of testing for the developers of many of the apps and widgets that I use, since I was the first to discover maladies and need these. There is a lot failing out there, and it's only really started to be a problem since about 10.4.5 and getting worse with each release. And of course there will be few if no updates for these apps, since I pray that they are gearing up for 10.5. Look at Adobe, they openly admitted that they were waiting on 10.5. So we had to wait and suffer. But until a couple of months of CS3 on the street will have to pass before I even think of it. After the problems with CS2.
I am totally disgusted with my current cell company and am no longer bound to a contract. I was chomping at the thought of the iPhone last Fall, now if I do it'll be Gen 2 at Christmas, if not a Gen 3 later on after all this garp I'm going through now and hearing about the over advertised iPhone and it's surfacing shortcomings. Apple is rushing way too much to the market way too quick and I will not be a bigger "unpaid" Beta Tester for Apple than we all already are.

  • FYI: beryl-svn settings manager broken

Hi. I uploaded the 9xx svn releases of beryl. It works fine here, but the settings manager is really broken. Backup your profile before you make changes and be prepared that changes in some plugins are lost.

Hi, cheers for uploading the new release. I upgraded to it today, and now my window decorations will not show. I tried deleting all my settings from my home directory, and that did not work. I am using a KDE desktop, and starting beryl with the following script in ~/.kde/Autostart/
    #!/bin/sh
    beryl
    beryl-manager &
The funny thing is, if I add the line "emerald &" to the end of that script, it does not work, but if I open a command window and type "emerald", then all the window decorations magically appear!
What should I do to fix this?

  • Mouting remote filesystem with "union" is broken

When mounting remote filesystems (afp and smb from a NAS server) in union mode is really broken in Yosemite.
"local" files are visible from a terminal shell with "ls". But they do not show in Finder. Weird.
Also, I have my iTunes Media folder on the NAS. If the filesystem is mounting in union mode, iTunes simply can't use it. It enters a loop traversing the mount point and stops responding. Removing union from the mount options makes iTunes happy, so the issue is indeed with union.
Anyone seeing that too? It worked fine since 10.8 (at least).

I was having the same problem. My VI runs fine locally, but when I take the control remotely, I get this message "The connection with the server is broken" after a while (sometimes a few seconds, sometimes say 1 minute). I tried to make the delays of the loops higher, but it does not seem to help. Once the VI reported a fatal internal error in "image.cpp" line 12313, but I don't know if it has something to do with it.  Any suggestions or hints?
    Thanks,
    Marijn

  • Graphics card broken or wrong bios setup?

I have a point of view gtx 460 768mb Graphics card and at the first time I started my computer it worked, but later that day it just stopped working and i switched to the intergrated graphics thinking that it just needed drivers to work again... But my computer is finished and it still doesn't work. :(
Does anyone now if this is a wrong bios setup or is my graphics card really broken. (The fan on the graphics card is still working.)

We cannot comment on non-MSI products. But the first thing to do is to test your system with a known working power supply.
It could be that your PSU has gone faulty by the sounds of what you are describing.

  • I am changing my hard drive and want to copy my old hard drive to the new one.

I went to the apple store with a bad hard drive in my macbook pro. The apple store said change the hard drive, they did, but I wanted to save the old hard drive to get everything off of it. So, I borrowed a sata enclosure and I was able to get everything from the orignial drive (which wasn't really broken) onto my external harddrive. Then I started up the Computer, but didn't use the Migration Assistant (Dumb, I know). Now I need to get everything that was on the original drive and put it where it is suppose to go. Is there a simple solution?

If this external drive is a boot drive (has the OSX on it), you can swap it into your MBP or use Disk Utility>Restore to clone the data to the internal MBP HDD.
    Ciao.
