Freight apportionment in shipment costing

HI We use shipment costing for freight calculations for stock transfers. One scenario is the shipment cost is a fixed amount based on route. What is happening in the system is that if there are multiple materials in the shipment, entire shipment cost amount is getting loaded onto the last material in the shipment instead of loading proportionately across all materials in the shipment.
Has anyone encountered this and how has this been resolved?
Sriram

Hi Augustine
Condition is set as delivery item. It has 51 as the requirement. But there is no routine 650. The last routine is 606. When I use the combination 51 and 606, system is distributing the value uniformly across all material instead of proportionately as per the material weight. What is desired is a proportional distribution based on the material weight in the shipment. Any ideas?
Thanks

  • Apportionment of shipment costs

    Hello,
In our solution, the shipment cost are posted as delivery costs during the putaway.
If we make changes to the delivery data (in quantity), the delivery costs are received per item according to the weight (the apportionment of the costs are made according to the weight).
But, this is done according to the quantity we receive and not the quantity initialy saved in the inbound delivery.
For example, we have 100$ for shipment cost for two PO, two Inbound deliveries and one transport.
    PO 1 :
    Material A : 50 Kg.
    PO 2 :
    Material B : 50 Kg.
    If the good receipt is:
    PO 1 :
    Material A : 1 Kg.
    PO 2 :
    Material B : 50 Kg.
the shipment cost will be apportionned like as following:
    Material A : 1$.
    Material B : 50$.
And, what we would like is :
    Material A : 2$.
    Material B : 98$.
For us, the total price has to be 100$ even if we receive only a part of the inbound delivery.
Do you have any idea on how we could manage that ?
    Thanks,
    Regards

    Hi,
I think we have a similar requirement. For FCA transports is the transport cost zero. We have created a seperate condition in the cost procedure as a condition class A ( discount or surcharge ) in T_06. This has an access sequence assigned which uses a 9xx condition table (T_03) with fields Service agent f.stage ( TDLNR ) and
Incoterms     ( INCO1 ). This enables us to maintain condition records in TK12. So FCA is maintained with 100 % deduction and thus no costs.

  • Inbound freight - Goods receipt before Shipment cost document

    Hi,
We are in process of implementing Transportation module for capturing Inbound freight.
All our test cases passed except 2) mentioned below:
Operationally transactions sequence can happen in two ways:
    1) Purchase Order -> Inbound delivery -> Shipment document ->Shipment Cost ->Goods receipt ->Invoice verification - Materials
    > Invoice verification - Freight
    2) Purchase Order -> Inbound delivery -> Goods receipt ->Shipment document -> Shipment Cost ->  Invoice verification - Materials
    > Invoice verification - Freight
In case 1 we are we are getting correct results as freight amount is getting added in material cost during MIGO as below
Inventory              Dr          (is sum of GR/IR and Frt Provision)
    GR/IR                    Cr
    Frt Provision         Cr
While in case 2) since MIGO is done prior to shipment document we are not able to get FI effects for freight cost. Hence Invoice booking is not possible for freight neither it is getting added into materials.
    Results expected as below :
In case 1 , same as it is happening today.
In case 2, it should post freight provision at shipment cost document so that freight booking can be done.
            Inventory       Dr
            Frt Provision  Cr
It will be of great help if anybody suggest solution on this.

  • Any UserExit while Posting Shipment cost?

    Dear All,
SD transportation/shipment cost integration with MM-Account Payable.
    Process:
    1. VA01 - create sales order
    2. VL01n - create Delivery
    3. VL02n - PGI
    4. VT01n - create Shipment
    5. VI01 - create shipment cost doc.
Here  PO will get generated automatically. For that PO, a service entry sheet is created for every L.R no given by Transport vendor. Then MIRO is posted for the service entry sheet.Payment is done against that.
But my client's requirement is that normally transporter will have contract with the company.  Transporters supply to various Customer place and raises the bill for every L.R no.
In case of Transporteru2019s freight bills settlement, vendor invoice posting should be L.R no wise which is captured in Shipment
L.R no wise tracking is required for Transporteru2019s payment.
I understand that there is no SAP STD integration of LR number of shipment doc with vendor Incoming Invoice posting. But Vendor invoice can be posted for multiple POs.
When shipment document is created, the system will generate PO automatically in the background. L.R number is to be captured and should be passed on to PO doc through USER EXIT.
Hence I request you to  kindly reply USER EXIT available for Shipment doc. so that the customization (development) can be done in transporteru2019s (vendor) payment L.R No. wise.
Please reply your view in this regard.

  • Shipment Cost - ERS (Evaluated receipt settlement)

    Hi,
We are using Shipment cost documents to calculate the customer freight.
In shipment cost document, we need to transfer the amount to accounting.
In that case system will create PO automatically. This is all good.
Now, We need to activate ERS for all the vendors, in that case when we transfer the shipment costs to accounting, system is asking to enter Tax code.
We are not using Tax determination at all in shipment cost document.
Can't we use ERS without Tax code?
Where does this Tax code come from into shipment costing document? is it through Tax determination condition technique?
is there any way we can deactivate Tax code?
    Please suggest.
    Thanks.

    Hi Sandra,
For such issues there is a pro-active approach by way of tolerances in MM-LIV. If your tolerances are configured properly, the system won't go so far as posting an invoice in ERS. It would show you a red flag by raising an exception.
ERS as a functionality entirely depends on the PO prices. There is no check as in the conventional LIV. Thus, I am afraid you won't have an audit trail straightforward.

    Vishal.

For Standard Materials, Tax code is defaulting from Info record.
As freight is a service, we only have Short text in the PO not the material.
Is there any way i can create info record for service materials? so that i can enter tax code in info record and that defaults into PO.

  • VI01 - Shipment Costs (combining Deliveries from Shipment document)

    Hello experts
Do you know how to combine (consolidate) the shipment costing line item (VI01) when there are more than one Delivery to the same customer in the Shipment document?
E.g. I have a Shipment with 58 Deliveries and for a specific customer has 2 Deliveries, the Shipment Costing (VI01) must to create just one line item consolidating the 2 Deliveries for that customer, not to split 2 lines (one line for each Delivery).
Any help will be highly appreciated.

  • Copy Pricing COnditions from Shipment Cost do to Purchase Order

    Hi:
How can I copy all freight conditions on shipment cost document to the Purchase order created.
e.g. In shipment cost document a\I have following pricing conditions.
    ZFRT - Freight - $250.00
    ZFCL-Fuel Chrg - $25
    ZCLN-Cleaning Chrg - $30
Total = $305 on shipment cost
When Purchase order is generated automatically.
I want same conditions on Purchase order instead of gross amt PB00 of $305.
How can we copy conditions from Shipment cost doc to the Purchase order??

    Hi,
First of all I don't think that it is possible in the standard system. SAP only transfers the total cost of shipment to MM as you already found out.
Actually, if I remember well, the cost condition is transfered to a service entry sheet assigned to the purchase order item for the service agent.
    From SAP help
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/93/74413b546011d1a7020000e829fd11/frameset.htm
    Purchase Order Determination
Transfer and creation of the relevant documents in FI
    Transferring Shipment Costs to Accounting
Transferring of shipment costs in order to create accruals comprises two functions:
    Procedure
       1. In the shipment cost document, go to the detail screen of a shipment cost item, for which costing and account assignment has already been carried out and which you want to transfer to FI.
       2. Select the Transfer indicator. ...
       3. Save the shipment cost document.
When you save, the system creates a service entry sheet with reference to the purchase order determined, an accounting document for creation of accruals and further documents in FI.
IMHO it is good enough to transfer the total cost of shipment. It is the amount needed for accrual, and used afterwards for logistics invoice verification based on the automatically generated service entry sheet.
Why do you want more details in MM if you already have the detailed data in the Shipment cost document?
It is not the answer you want, but I hope it helps anyway.

  • Freight capitalization for STO process using shipment cost document

    Dear MM experts
I have been testing and trying to charge freight to material using transportation module. I know how to do it in simple STO process without SCD (shipment cost document) but I am not able to do it with SCD.
I have searched and tried every link I found on SCN. Unfortunately there are many open threads and non of them is answered or giving complete solution. For example I have tried this link where Ajit Kumar has explained the scenario in detail I am but unable to achieve my result. I have also tried other links and SAP note 427944 as well.
Now what thing confusing me is accounting entries and documents/steps where these accounting entries will be posted.
My current process is like this in plant to plant transfer under same company code
STO > OBD > Shipment Document > PGI > Accouting Entry with 641 movement type. Material account debit and same account credit. > Shipment Cost document > GR with 101 without any accounting entry > Transfer freight cost to FI using Freight Service PO determination > Accounting Entry Freight Outward Expense Debit and Freight Clearing Account Credit > MIRO > Accounting Entry Freight Clearing Debit and Vendor Credit
As you can see we are booking freight as an expense and not charging to material. Now what I want is that freight should be charged to material. If I am sending material from plant P000 to plant P201 under same comapny code then freight charges should be added in material cost in plant P201.
I have done FRB1 condition type with accrual and copy shipment cost tick mark and other stuff suggested in all those threads but it is not working.
My requirement is to understand the points where and what accounting entries will be created as per my new scenario which is same as old one except one difference which is to charge freight to material instead of booking expense in freight service PO.
Lets take an example that material cost price is 100 and freight charges is 50. Now as per old threads at the time of GR against OBD system will create accounting document with 150 debiting the stock in plant P201. What about credit? If we have added freight here then what about 2nd accounting entry in my first scenario in which freight expense is debited and clearing account is credited? Could anyone please explain accounting entries and points where these entries will be posted?
Another thing is that is it only possible with moving average price to charge freight to material or can we do this with standard price as well using some standard or customized solution?
Detailed and easy to understand answer will be highly appreciated.
    Thank$

    Hi Moazzam ;
Firstly, you can benefit Badi/s in package VTRA which is given belowed.
Secondly , i think that  shipping method --> create sto with delivery --> create shipment document and shipment cost document (problem is starting so system will be create PO and service entry sheet automatically , can you try shipment document is non-related with cost document.
Thirdly , you can post invoices charge to material with miro , if you success to direct freight costs to stock account (BSX).
Also , you can benefit doc. sap behaviours for Std price/ Map --> Planned & unplanned delivery costs in mm
I hope , you can manage your process ; for me standart way is the best.

  • How the freight cost are transferred from condition type of shipment cost document to service entry sheet and collected in service PO item

    Dear Experts:
could you please share with me the knowledge for below topic:
How the freight cost are transferred from condition type of shipment cost document to service entry sheet and collected in service PO item, because these three objects use three different pricing procedures, and different condition type.
how did the condition type of service entry sheet know to copy the value of whcih condition type in the pricing procedure of shipment cost document?
Is this SAP standard function OR there need an enhancement to do that?
I didn’t find related condition value copy setting in background, could you please share related setting with me? Thank you very much for your kind help!
    Best regards,
    Andy

    Hi, Gopi,
Glad to see your feedback, but i still have question on your feedback:
which condition type in the pricing procedure of service entry sheet should know to capture the net value of shipment cost doc? becasue there are so many condition types,
And i have checked the corresponding condition type (PRSX) of service entry sheet pricing procedure in my SAP system, this is a self-defined condition type, but NO any calculation routine maintained for the condition type (PRSX), how did the condition type (PRSX) know to copy the total cost of shipment cost document?
Below is the example and another question:
what the relationship between the pricing procedures at service PO item level and service line item level?
    1. The freight cost in shipment cost document—including used condition type and pricing procedure
The pricing procedure of shipment cost document
    2. The freight cost in service entry sheet—including used condition type and pricing procedure
The pricing procedure of service entry sheet--the pricing procedure at service line item level
    3. The freight cost in service PO item—including used condition type and pricing procedure:

  • Freight costs in Pricing procedure and Shipment costs

What is the difference between freight costs in pricing procedure for a sales document and shipment costs in shipment documents. Arent they meant for the same thing. Why do we have to create them separately.

    hello, friend.
freight charges in the sales pricing procedure may be represented by condition type KF00 (standard).  this condition type is a surcharge to your customer, meaning there is an inflow into your company.  this surcharge may be manually entered (if configuration allows this) in the condition tabs of your sales order or this could automatically be entered if the appropriate condition records (via VK11 or VK31) have been created.
the shipment costs in shipment documents is what your company is billed or quoted by your forwarder, shipper or other transport related agent.  the shipment cost data will be used by the system to calculate and settle shipment costs.  when you have freight condition records (via TK11), purchase-vendor records and if all route/connection point/etc.  settings correct, all shipment cost data will be determined when you do shipment cost document creation.  you may also manually enter cost items, depending on the configuration.
hope this helped.  is so, will appreciate reward.
    regards.

  • Control of Incoterms in creation of Shipment Costs

    Dear All,
We calculate shipment costs (Through Transportation module in SD-Freight payment-Outwards) on calculation base A (Delivery) or B
(Delivery item) and do not want to calculate deliveries that have certain
Incoterms (for example, TOP-To Pay, where Customer makes payment to Transporter).
By default, the system always creates a subitem in the shipment cost
document for the corresponding calculation base for every delivery item or for every delivery involved.
We want to have Control over certain Incoterms where we don't pay to the customers. We want to restrict the users not to calculate Shipment Costs in TOP-To pay cases. Kindly help if any Userexits available for this scenario to handle.

  • How to update sales order number (KAUFN) characteristic in the profitability segment of the PA document created at the time of service entry sheet confirmation, as a result of shipment cost document

    Hi,
We have a scenario wherein we create shipment cost documents against delivery. As a result of shipments fully transferred, a PO for freight vendor is automatically created and a service entry sheet confirmation happens. As a result of service entry sheet confirmation, we have Financial accounting, Controlling and profitability analysis documents created. We have a requirement wherein we need to have the characteristic “sales order number (KAUFN)” populated in the profitability analysis document created as a result of service entry sheet confirmation.
Could someone please advice how could this be attained in COPA. Thanks for your help in advance.
    Regards,
    Sandeep

    Hi Ajay,
Thank you for the quick update.
The document is updated to COPA through OKB9 settings. The profitability segment is updated with fields like customer, product, company code, plant, sales area data, profit center, etc; however the sales order number is missing.
Could you please elaborate further how could FI substitution be implemented to call for the FM COPA_PROFITABILITY_SEGMENT through user exit? Are you recommending the substitution through GGB1? What could be the possible validation to call for the user exit to be implemented?

  • Shipment cost based on Value

I need your valuable suggestion on how to create the Value based shipment cost.
    Our Process:
Create POS - Create Inbound delivery - Create Shipment - Create Shipment cost - Post Inbound Delivery.
So while posting the inbound delivery, the freight cost will post against the material. The invoice will be paid for the Vendor for the quantity purchased and freight charge will be paid for the freight Vendor(s).
We are adding the Vendor in the Shipment and adding the cost against the Vendor in the Shipment Cost.
Everything is working fine, but the shipment cost posting against the material was happening based on the delivery weight / quantity.
The reason for this asking the question is - we are receiving high value items and low value items with the same weight.
Question 1: Is it possible to have the shipment cost being split, calculated and posted against the material based on the PO Item received Value or PO Price
Quesion 2: Is it possible to post the shipment cost at a later date? Currently, the shipment cost posts when the inbound delivery is received (I know the material value will be posted when there is stock changes or price changes).  But our issue is the invoice for the shipment cost will be received after a couple of days from the goods receipt. Right now we are entering couple of costs through assumption, then while postig the invoice, we adjust that value.
Note: I cannot enter the condition directly in the PO, as the same PO item will be partially received by multiple inbound deliveries

Freight carriers charges weight on the basis of Weight / volume of the items.SAP shipment works on the same principle.
Cost of transporting ton of Potataoes  is same as transporting 10 ton of aluminium between two known destinations.
Hence it is illogical to distributes cost on the basis of item value. However if still you want to distribute the same on value basis then maintain freight condition(%) in PO as per your prefined logic of distribution of freight cost.
It is well known fact that cost of freight % is always higher in  Low value items & iis low in case of High value items.

  • Product Gap To Accommodate the Shipment Cost in R/3 Procurement process- MM

    Hi,
We are in to IT distribution business; in our nature of business we donu2019t know shipment cost at Purchase Order, we can have various options
As per Our business requirement we want to take the MAP cost as basis of our Sales Price considering very low profit margin, so  for every shipment( partial GR) the freight cost  are not on proportionate basis, it will vary widely depending on the facts like
    A.     Mode of transport(Air / Ship /Road )
    B.     Size of Truck load/ Ship Container
    C.     Number of Partial Shipment
    D.     Shipment for Multiple Purchase order.
Further we want the freight cost  to be automated based on above variations.
    Problem:
We need to incorporate both the partial delivery cost (Elucidated below) at Goods receipt point for each and every shipment (Partial Delivery).
We want automated price component should flow to Good receipt on partial delivery basis considering both components mentioned below.
For understanding kindly refer to the below mentioned example.
    Case 1:
We placed one Purchase Order Qty 1000 to Vendor HP on Inco term Ex Works Taiwan,
This Quantity of Material will be shipped partially to Our Plant at Dubai; We will out sourced Freight forwarder for picking the material from HP factory to Dubai Sea Port
We have different components as below
Fixed      $  115.00      Per Bill of Lading / Shipment
    Variable 1 and/or      $  235.00      Per 30 CBM / 20" FT Container
    Variable 2 and/or      $  200.00      Per 60 CBM / 40" FT Container
    Variable 3      $  200.00      Per 70 CBM / 40" FT HC Container
Again the Shipment will be transferred from Sea Port to Our Plant through road, this may be a
    Variable     From 1 to 8 CBM --> $ 19     3 Tonn
         More than 8 CBM --> 19 CBM --> $38     7 Tonn
         More than 19 CBM --> 43 CBM --> $52     40" Trailer
Any concept or solution will be acknowledged..

    Hi,
    Quick answer will be
As you do not know delivery cost at the time of PO creation , you can post delivery cost in MIRO with a option to a particular G/L account & need to active in following path:
SPRO > Materials Management > Logistics Invoice Verification > Incoming Invoice > Activate Direct Posting to G/L Accounts and Material Accounts > Here Activate "Dir.posting to G/L acct = active" and save.
    OR
Try for rebate / subsequent settlement.
