Frequency Generator query frequency output limitations

Hello,
I would like to know if there is a way to query a frequency generator for the limitations of the output frequency that can be generated, using the C API. I have found documentation which clearly outlines the limitations of frequency output (min and max) for all devices supported by my current driver, but have yet to find a way to query these values from the driver and or the device itself. Is there such a method? or must I hard code these values into my program if I want to limit user input to the range of correct values for frequency?

By limitations of the output frequency, do you mean specs related to jitter, phase misalignment, propagation delay, etc? That information is available on the cards spec sheet. I don't believe there are attributes in the driver that report that information. You can always write your own code that identifies a card by its model number, and looks up its specs in a file. The following attribute identifies a cards model number:

Hello Gireesh,
You can use a function generator to generate frequencies and use the modulation tollkit and other tools availabe with LabVIEW to do the modulation part . Or you can use the analog output ports on the daq card to generate different frequency signals for the same purpose .This should pretty much serve your purpose.

Routing the 6220 frequency generator.

Hi Everyone,
I'd like to route the 6220 independent frequency generator to another PFI terminal. The documentation states "You can route Frequency Output to any PFI <0..15> terminal.". How is this accomplished in Labview? I can't figure out the code or property node to "route" the signal to another PFI. Or is it a matter of using the Frequency Output as the source for another task of some sort?

The channel property node "output terminal" is the correct way to change the output of the freqout counter (or one of the normal counters for that matter). That way you don't have to worry about cleaning up the signal routing when you are finished.

NI9411 frequency measurement with analogue output

I have an NI-9411 connected into a 9178 cDAQ module. I want to constantly measure the frequency of a digital signal then output this signal as an anlogue output using another of my NI modules. I am pretty new to the NI environment, does anyone know of a simple method using the DAQassistant?

Hi Richard,
Do you want to output a voltage that varies with frequency or just an analog signal with the same frequency as the digital?
The easiest way for you to do this is to use two DAQ Assistant VIs and wire the output from your digital module into the output of your analog module.
If you wanted to output a varying voltage with frequency you would perform some simple scaling on your measured frequency and wire it straight to the output.
If you wanted a varying frequency analog signal, you could use the Simulate Signal express VI and wire the measured frequency into the frequency input.
The reason you only see four channels for frequency measurement is that this particular function utilises the hardware counters on your device to count the time period between pulses to work out the frequency, your cDAQ 9178 has four of these hardware counters.
For direct voltage level measuring you will see six differential channels available.

Frequency generator to clock counters

I recently purchased a PCI-6221 with 2 32-bit counters. I wish to read and log two encoders (hence the 6221) and several analog inputs simultaneously.. My research found that this is not possible without an external clock (which can be created using one of the counters) leaving only one counter for my encoders. I noticed the 6221 has one Frequency Generator. Can this generator be used as a clock source for the counters and the AI?

You can use Freq Out as the sample clock of both CI tasks. However, you are restricted to what frequencies you can generated. You should also be able to use the AI sample clock as the "sample clock source" of the CI tasks.
As for simultaneous AI channels, thats impossible on that card. All AI channels share 1 ADC that is multiplexed between the channels on each period of the AI sample clock.

Error when generating waveform analog output on NI 6704 card

Hi, I am trying to understand why NI 6704 card appears to be incompatible with what I'm trying to do.
I want to use a waveform to generate an analog output voltage on a NI 6704.
I have a vi in the style of the waveform buffer generator in this example:

which creates the waveform. In my main routine I attempt to create and write a DAQmx ao task using the waveform information, but get this error:

According to documentation the 6704 has no onboard memory... but it's not clear to me how the DAQmx functions are actually sending the data to the card, i.e. if they are attempting to read and store the waveform buffer on to the card, it the lack of memory on the card could be my problem. Is is correct that that is part of my problem? Or since the error has to do with the sample timing clock, is my problem that the 6704 uses software timing?
I've run my program successfully on an NI 6225 card... are there any work arounds for generating such an output on a 6704?

The error has everything to do with software timing. Your device does not have a hardware clock so you get an error when you try to configure it. To output a waveform, you have to do out one point at a time. You can only do this at a low frequency and it will have considerable jitter.

XML Publisher Report not generating the PDF output.

I am trying to develop a XML Publisher Report in R12 Vision Instance.
I have developed the rdf report and concurrent program with XML as output format. Ran the concurrent program and I got the XML output. Based on XML output I have created the rtf template. Using both the template and xml output I have created in Data Definition and Template in XML Publisher Administrator Responsibility. Now I am comming to the concurrent program and running the program, here instead of generating the PDF output it is generating again the XML output and concurrent program completing with warning status.
When I am trying to do the same in 11i Vision Instance, Concurrent Program completing with normal status and when trying to view the output it is saying "Unable to Publish output for the Processed Request".
Kindly please help me out in this issue.

Hi Mahesh,
Here the concurrent programs are not erroring out. It is completing with Warning status and when we click on View Output the output is coming in XML format instead of PDF, this is in R12 Vision Instance.
In 11i Vision Instance, concurrent program is completing with Normal Status but when we click on View Output it is saying "Unable to Publish output for specified request".

Spool file problem,Can't see the query in output file.

I am facing a very old school kind of problem .....about spool file ....
The scenario -
I have made a script by name DB_Status_checkup.sql which i want to fire on the database to check the database status. In this script their are many queries regarding the data dictionary views to know about the database. It consist of nearly 25-30 different select queries..
The problem is i want to make a spool file of the output of that query....i want to see the SQL query & the output below in the spool file, so it will be easy for me to judge the result. But i can't see the SQL query , i can only see the output , & in so many queries it all gets jumbled up....even i can't understand where the next output starts ...
Sample of my SQL Script ....
clear buffer

Doubt in RSRT regarding generate query.

I have a doubt in transaction code RSRT (Query monitor). Under the tab environment, there are 2 options.
1) Generate queries.
2) Gen.Queries directly as shown below.
i.e in RSRT> Environment> Generate Query
and RSRT> Environment> Gen. Query directly.
I would like to know what the functions of these two options are and what they do?
And also would like to know how these 2 are different from generate report.
I know generate report means regeneration of query, but what does regeneration of query actually do?

1) generate queries = generate the query @ next call.
This means it does not gets generated unless the query is called by a workbook, web template,...
2) Directly: generates the selected queries directly.
Generation of a query: a query is in fact an ABAP program. This program is created by the BI system.
To generate a query is to 'create' the ABAP program for the query.
You can also delete the old ABAP's (old versions):
environment -> delete old ABAPs

If we observe test query is very simple and easy to back track but in Dev it is appending like sawwith0,sawwith1 etc..looking difficult.
Is there in any configuration to change to generate query like Test(with out SAWWITH0).
NOTE:Any how results are same in both instances.
Please help me to resolve this issue.

Are your database settings the same in both of the rpds dev and test?
Check wether you didn't change anything to the default. Open your RDP double click on the Database in the physical layer and go to Feature you can check all the settings there

Using mathscript to generate multiple digital outputs for switch control

Hello
I am new to this NI LV and a have kind of a basic question. I would like to use Mathscript to generate an array of bolean numbers which will be used to control the Digital I/O lines. I am using NI 6251 USB device and the Mathscript code runs well. But I have a problem using this array to control the Digital output. So I created a simple test programme where I set the DAQ assitant to generate 4 digital outputs(P0.0 ~ P0.3) and it gives error that ".. number of channels in the data does not match the number of channels in the task..." (see attachment) . How can I solve this problem thank you.

looks like you did not initialize all 4 of the elements in the bool array....

Performance issue while generating Query

Hi BI Gurus.
I am facing performance issue while generating query on 0IC_C03.
It has a variable as (from & to) for generating the report for a particular time duration.
if the variable (from & to) fields is filled then after taking a long time it shows run time error.
& if the query is executed without mentioning the variable(which is optional) then the data is extracted from beginning to till date. the same takes less time in execution.
& after that the period has to be selected manually by option keep filter value. please suggest how can i solve the error

YOUHAVE TO CHECK THE FOLLOWING RUN TIME SEGMENTS USING ST03N TCODE:
High Database Runtime
High OLAP Runtime
High Frontend Runtime
if its high Database Runtime :
- check the aggregates or create aggregates on cube and this helps you.
if its High OLAP Runtime :
- check the user exits if any.
- check the hier. are used and fetching in deep level.
If its high frontend runtime:
- check if a very high number of cells and formattings are transferred to the Frontend ( use "All data" to get value "No. of Cells") which cause high network and frontend (processing) runtime.
For From and to date variables, create one more set and use it and try.

Error while trying to generate tax invoice output

I am trying to generate tax invoice output for the billing document at that time system is generating the following error message " Enter tax rate for position 000010 document 6111000019".Actually I have maintained the Tax condition records correctly and it's showed in billing document.Please let me know any one have idea on this why its throwing the error message and stoping me to generate the VAT invoice output.

How to generate multiple digital outputs (square waves delayed) at 50 kHz?

I would like to generate 3 digital outputs like the picture attached at 50 kHz. Using the "digital pattern generator (marching values).vi", I can generate 3 digital square wave but without the delay time. How can I do that?
I'm using the card PCI 6034E.

Hi,
the digital pattern generator (marching values) only shifts the binary value of the first signal and sample to the next signal/sample.
Have you tried generating your waveforms via build waveform and use t0 terminal to change the lead delay?
In general, this DAQmx example could be helpful which you can modify to your needs.
