Frequency Response VS FFT for measring frequency response of a audio ouput signal.

We have purchased the Sound and Vibration Toolkit and I have some questions.
From the frequency response example I looked at you measure the input then the ouput and the Vi gives you the difference.
I want to measure the audio frequency response a radio.
So all I have is the output I dont have the audio input to use as a reference.
How would I measure frequency response with the frequency rasponse VI with only the output audio signal?
I was also looking at the FFT example to measure the audio signal frequency response.
But from what I can tell so far this only does 1 channel I want to do both channles at the same time.
Is there a way to do FFT on 2 channels at once and have them output on the same graph?

Hi,
I was looking through the examples and If you look at the SVXMPL_Multichannel FFT (simulated) examples, this shows how to take an FFT with multiple signals. You just pass in an array of the waveforms. If you need to put your signals together you can use the merge signals VI, which is located in the Express»SignalManipulation Pallette. Let me know if you need any further help with this issue.

IO fails working for low frequency, but work well for higher frequency

On our customized VU440 board, we did a IO performance test for each bank and found a strange problem, in the design,we send out 24bits Pseudo random data and loop back this data to the same bank with our testing board, on which the pins for tx and rx are only connected in short circuit, one differential clock is transfered to single-ended global clock in the design, using IBUFDS+BUFG to provide the global clock for tx module and rx module.
howeve, we use vivado debug tool to check the data looped back, only found when the clock is 200MHz around, the data is correct, but if fails to get correct data when the clock is much lower, for example, 10MHz ~100MHz. And from the waveform we got, we identified the status for some pin was un-normal when the data bus failed to get correct data.
we have found the problematic IO pins, but did not know why the problem come out, normally, we think it's normal for the IO pins fail to work when the frequency is too high, but in our case, the issue is on the contrary, we don't understand why it works for some higher frequency but fail to run when it's much lower.
we now try to check our PCB also, but have no clue at present.
Some guys have any idea or suggestion to check for the reason?

What is the IO standard that you selected for the TX and the RX. How long is the loopback cable?
Do you have proper terminations on the board? Because in general, all IO Standards need some terminations which are mentioned in the respective SelectIO user Guide for that device. Please check that.

Frequency Response Function & FFT & Inverse FFT (problem of unit Volts-RMS)

Hello everyone,
I am currently working on a VI in order to compare two analog signals : the first one corresponds to the output signal (my reference) which is sent by my data acquisition card to a shaker and the second one corresponds to the input signal recorded by an accelerometer fixed on the same shaker. The final goal of the VI is to correct the analog output signal by using the analog input recorded signal in order to have the vibrations on the shaker which corresponds to what we really want.
To summary, I have a problem of unit with the Volts-RMS...
So this is my method for the VI :
First, I have to calculate the Frequency Response Function between the two analog signals (output and input). For it, I use the " Frequency Response Function (Real-Im).vi " which returns the complex values of the FRF in Volts-RMS (but I don't want to use this unit).
Then, I want to calculate the FFT of the analog output signal (my reference). There are two different blocs which can be used : " FFT Spectrum (Real-Im).vi " and " FFT.vi ".
The " FFT Spectrum (Real-Im).vi " returns the FFT complex values of the signal in Volts-RMS and the " FFT.vi " returns the FFT complex values in Volts (or say me if I am wrong, thank you). I really would like to use the second one because of the unit.
Then, I divide the FFT just calculated with the Frequency Response Function calculated just before.
For the end, I calculate the inverse FFT of that with the " Inverse FFT.vi " which use the complex values with the same unit than for the " FFT.vi ".
I don't want to use the Volts-RMS unit because I absolutly want to use the blocs " FFT.vi " and " Inverse FFT.vi ".
The problem is that I don't find a bloc which use the same unit for the Frequency Response Function. The " Frequency Response Function (Real-Im).vi " returns only the complex values in Volts-RMS unit. Maybe it is possible to convert it correctly? Or maybe there is an other bloc which can be used in order to calculate the Frequency Response Function with the same init than for the FFT and Inverse FFT ? Because I can't mix everything for the moment...

No, I have not use the Sound and Vibration toolkit. I have only used the signal processing toolkit with the two toolboxes " Waveform measurement " and " Transforms ".
But I think that what I have done for the moment in my VI is correct (I have finished the complete VI). But I am not sure of the units (Volts, Volts-RMS...) and I would like to understand.
I have tried with the Sound and Vibration toolkit for the frequency response function (because you say me that it deals with all the unit conversion) and I can obtain the same results than with the " Frequency Response Function.vi " of the toolbox " Waveform measurement ".
But I would like to understand the units (see my previous post please). For example, for the FFT (the result is a complex), why sometimes it is in Volts, sometimes it is in Volts-RMS ? Is it possible to convert it ? How ?
If you want, I can attach on the forum my VI and that will maybe help you to explain me. Maybe it will help other people interested.
And if someone else can give me other precisions or advices about it, do not hesitate.

Calculate frequency response using FFT and inverse FFT

Hi,
Attached is the program using FFT and inverse FFT to filter a time domain signal. The frequency response of the LPF can be obtained by using the chirp signal from 0 to 5kHz. However, I don't know why the signal obtained from a sine wave input is so strange. The amplitude is wrong and has a envelope outside. Please help to point out what's wrong with that.

If you check the help text for sine wave.vi you'll see that it generates the sine wave based on the following formula:
yi = a*sin(phase[i])
for i = 0, 1, 2, …, n – 1 and where
a is amplitude,
phase[i] = initial_phase + f*360*i
This means that when you input a=1, f=0,1 and initial_phase=0 you will get a sine wave that is based on samples at every n*36 degrees; i.e. at 0, 36, 72 etc...due to this sample rate you never see the full amplitude (+/- 90 degrees), the wave is clipped at the top. If you input an initial phase of 64 degrees you will get the full amplitude, but the wave is still deformed due to digitalization...
The lower the frequency you put in, the closer the digitalized representation will be to the true sine.
Use the Waveform Generator VIs from the analyze palette if you want to have more control over the wave generation (sample rates etc.). (Not available if you have the base package.)

It would be helpfull to know what PXI hardware and what sensor you are using.
Up to now I only found mechanical limitations ....

How to find the ratio of two frequencies in fft

How to enhance frequency resolution of fft spectrum on x-axis

Dear Sir
I get the frequency spectrum of my real time signal. Frequency span that I want to analyze is 0~500hz. I get that span by setting the sampling rate. But the frequency resolution coming on graph is of 100hz (as shown in attachment). My requirement is to have frequency resolution of 10hz with same frequency span. Please guide me how can I achieve this.

I set the dt value to 0.002. For this I set sampling rate 2000hz and no.of samples 1000000. In this way I achieve frequency span of 250hz. But resolution is still 100hz (as shown in attach 1). My question is how can I set resolution to 10hz? I increase the number of samples but from doing this only the frequency span changes and resolution remain same as 100hz. Resolution become 10hz only when I set total frequency span to 50 hz (but My frequency span of intrest is 0~500hz or 0~250hz not below thos).
I am attaching the gaph in attachment 2 from where you can undersatnd what type of resolution and frequency span I want.

How to up the timeout setting to solve password reset portal error "Authentication gate timed out waiting for a challenge response"?

Hi Everyone,
We have the password portal up and running on one box and another server with FIM R2 and SharePoint 2010. All is good with the exception that our end users typically get distracted during the password registration and/or reset process and receive:
"An error has occurred. Please try again, and if the problem persists, contact your help desk or system administrator. (Error 3000) ". The timeout kicks in after 5 minutes of inactivity in the browser.
The FIM Service log shows the following:
"Authentication gate timed out waiting for a challenge response".
I have confirmed that the default password portal web.config setting is <add key="SessionTimeoutInMinutes" value="20" />.
We have also updated Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Service.exe.config per this
article to the following but with no luck:
<resourceManagementClient resourceManagementServiceBaseAddress="myAddress" timeoutInMilliseconds="600000" />
<resourceManagementService externalHostName="myHost" dataReadTimeoutInSeconds="600" dataWriteTimeoutInSeconds="600"/>

There is no NLB or firewall in front on this server.
If anyone has any solution to how to solve this on FIM R2/SharePoint 2010 please let me know.

You could try changing the receiveTimeoutInSeconds parameter of the resourceManagementService node in your Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Service.exe.config file. However, you are warned not to do this unless instructed to by MS customer support.

I don't remember those arrows in 10.6, only 10.7 & up!?
I have 10.6.8, as you do. To make your Safari full screen, make sure you have the left hand side of your safari page moved all the way to the left. Then move your cursor to the BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER of the safari page, and simply drag your page towards the lower right hand corner of the screen. NOTE: you will see a series of lines on the bottom right corner of the page, indicating where to place you cursor arrow.

Hoping for a quick response : EXP and Archived REDO log files

I apologize in advance if this question has been asked and answered 100 times. I admit I didn't search, I don't have time. I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow, and I need to know if I'm correct about something to do with backup / restore.
we have 10g R2 running a single instance on a single server. The application vendor has "embedded" oracle with their application. The vendor's backup is a batch file using EXP - thus:
exp system/xpwdxx@db full=y file=D:\Orant\admin\db\EXP\db_full.dmp log=D:\Orant\admin\db\EXP\db_full.txt direct=y compress=y
This command is executed nightly at midnight. The files are then backed up by our nightly backup to offsite storage media.
Te database is running in autoarchive mode. The problem is, the archived redo files filled the drive they were being stored on, and it is the drive the database is on. I used OS commands to move 136G of archived redo logs onto other storage media to free the drive.
My question: Since the EXP runs at midnight, when there is likely NO activity, do I need to run in AutoArchive Mode? From what I have read, you cannot even apply archived redo log files to this type of backup strategy (IMP) Is that true? We are ok losing changes since our last EXP. I have read a lot of stuff about restoring consistent vs. inconsistent, and just need to know: If my disk fails, and I have to start with a clean install of Oracle and nothing else, can I IMP this EXP and get back up and running as of the last EXP? Or do I need the autoarchived redo log files back to July 2009 (136G of them).

BruceThe dump file is probably ok in the sense it is not corrupted and can be used in an imp operation. That doesn't mean the data in it is transactionally consistent. And to use it at all, you have to have a database up and running. If the database is physically corrupted, you'll have to rebuild a new database from scratch before you can even think about using your dmp file.
Vendors never understand databases. I once had a vendor tell me that Oracle's performance would be intolerable if there were more than 5 concurrent connections. Well, maybe in HIS product ..... Discussions terminated quickly after he made that statement.

I'm trying write to a file using a combination of CGI and Java. I am following this website:

I was wondering if anyone knew what this mean? I searched the forum and found a post from 2 years ago that was exactly the same problem I was having, only thing is that there were no responses to it. Hopefully I'll have a bit more luck.

This would indicate nothing is wrong with your applet but with your http server (not supporting http 1.1??)

I was deploy my webcenter application and was working fine, but I updated my Webcenter Framework plugin in Jdeveloper to version 11.1.2.0.091030.1847 and now when I try deploy my application error 503 occurr:

To solve my problemn I do these steps:
- Uninstall jdeveloper;
- Delete jdeveloper folder;
- Install Jdeveloper, version 11.1.1.2;
- Downloaded the plugin to Webcenter: http://download.oracle.com/otn/java/jdeveloper/1112/extensions/oracle.webcenter.framework_bundle.zip
- Remove my proxy from Jdev ( Tools -> Preferences -> Web Browser and Proxy)
And works fine.

when we do customer segmentation in Applet Java Builder, we create a target group using 2 or more criterion, then it prompts us an error "Communication Error" - Server returned HTTP response code: 500 for URL: http//xxxxxxxxxxx/bc/bsp/sap/CRM_MKTTG_SEGAP/communication.do
we're in CRM 7.0 SP 6.
What we have done
- activated the service CRM_MKTTG_SEGAP
- implement sap note 1481289, 1359890, 1161753

Communication error occurs because of two active versions of segment builder jar files are appearing , deletion of older version resolves this issue .
Go to SE80 u2013 Select the BSP Application - CRM_MKTTG_SEGAP and check segmentbuilder.jar Segment Builder Applet under MIME folder and check the size and delete the older version .
