From Lightroom to DPS ?
Hi Guys
not sure I can do that but let's ask
I have built some books with Lightroom, I am a photographer, so it's just a portfolio of my photos
so I would like to know if I might build my App via LR
any ideas ?
Many thanks, Thierry
Not directly. You can export the images and metadata and then import them via a data merge into InDesign to create a folio. I've witten about this method for other uses on my personal blog, check out http://www.danecreek.com/blog/2010/02/14/creating-blurb-pdfs-using-lightroom-and-indesign. html.

I am trying to import developed images from LightRoom 5 Photoshop 6 for further editing. I am receiving this message and the images will not open.....'Could not open scratch file because the file is locked, or you do not have necessary access permissions or another program is using the file. Use the 'Properties' command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file. How do I fix this? I would greatly appreciate it if you would respond with terms and procedures that a computer ignorant user, such as me, will understand. Thanks.
Have you tried restoring the Preferences yet?

I've exported photos from Lightroom 5 from my laptop to my wife's desktop. The photos arrive as Archive and she's unable to do anything with them, such as catalog them in an IPhoto folder with other photos. Is there an adjustment I need to make when exporting from Lightroom 5 so we can avoid this problem? Thank you.
Sorry - this is the iPhoto for Mac support forum - Your question does not involve iPhtoo for the Mac in any way - you need to contact Adobe or use an Adobe LR support forum for LR support
Afar as iPhoto is concerned it can import JPEGs and TIFFs - plus a few others - I have no idea what an archive format is and neither does iPhoto

Photoshop CS-6 does not open images from Lightroom 5
I do have Photoshop CS-6 and Lightroom 5. Nearly all images were created in a Windows 7 (64 bit) environment. I have moved platforms to MAC. I have moved all images and the Catalog. I have changed platform to MAC. I am now using MAC OS-X (10.9.1).
I am able to see all images in Lightroom, I am able to modify all images in Lightroom. I can export the images to Jpeg (for example) from Lightroom. I do have a warining at several images in Lightroom = "metadates have been changed - would you like to overwrite data or import ?"
First time I have tried to open an Image from Lightroom (hand over) Photoshop opens, but does not show any picture and no error message. But when I then look to recently opened files, the image is in the list. When I do click on this, Photoshop shows and error message: "the datamodule can not handle the file format" (which is either RAW or jpeg).
Another expirience is, when I try to open directly from Photoshop any other image, Photoshop ignores the XMP and opens the original file without any modification.derMueller wrote:

That's normal if the raw files were originally edited in Lightroom. Lightroom stores all edits in the catalog, not the xmp sidecar. You can set Lightroom to write to xmp as well, but that slows it down a little and so it's off by default. The Lightroom shortcut ctrl/cmd+S will also save to xmp.
I do have a warining at several images in Lightroom = "metadates have been changed - would you like to overwrite data or import ?"
That's related to the above, and also normal if you go the other way - edit in ACR and then move to Lightroom. It'll then be in xmp, but not the Lightroom catalog.
As for the missing on-screen image, that's a common video driver bug (although I suppose other causes are possible). For Windows you can download updated drivers directly from the manufacturer's website, but that's not possible with Mac. You'll have to wait for Apple to fix it. -
Photoshop CC 2014 crashes when trying to create a panorama from Lightroom?
Hi,
I have both Photoshop and Lightroom CC installed.
When I pass 6 photos from Lightroom to Photoshop CC to create a panorma, Photoshop goes through the throws, imports the images, generates the panorama then crashes, with a message from Windows saying it is checking for a solution to the problem, then dies.
I have reviewed the posts, and found one that suggest to increase the cache level to 6... tried this and it still dies.
Found another workaround to have Photoshop x64 running and pass the images to it rather than have Lr fire up Ps CC. This worked and produced the panorama.
I am not sure why, but with the use of the CC app, I know have three Ps's on my my machine, x32, x64 and CC..., not even sure what the difference between x64 and CC... ???...
So my question is...
Is there are a problem with PS CC?... there certainly was with the focus stacking algorithms.. or is it just me.?.. ;(
Thanks for any help with this...
Cheers
Keith Friend.
the techy details from PS CC 2014 are as follows, this is the version that Lr fires up..

Send a raw photo from lightroom to photoshop as a smart "object"
how to send a raw photo from lightroom to photoshop as a smart "object" not a flat "image" so it does not flatten the image but so I still get all the adjustments i have made in lightroom to show up in photoshop?
Select the image in Lightroom, choose 'Edit in' from Photo menu then choose 'Open as Smart Object in Photoshop'. The file will transfer to Photohop (Ps) complete with Lr applied edits which can be refined in Camera Raw by double clicking on icon in the Ps Layers panel (see screen shot).

Hi, I've just purchased and installed an upgrade from Lightroom 4 to 5. It doesn't seem to handle raw files authored with a new Nikon D750 camera. I spoke to the sales rep about this and he gave me a link to the 8.6 DNG converter page with instructions to download. 8.6 only works with Mac OS 10.7-10.9, according to the page. I'm running Yosemite, Mac 10.10. Please can you tell me my options? Lightroom 4 worked beautifully with my older cameras' raw files so I would like to continue using the application. What should I do? How soon will Lightroom 5 be able to deal with raw files from a D750. Many thanks, Adam.
Until the next version of Lightroom is released, you need to use the DNG Converter version 8.7RC to convert your RAW photos to DNG and then import the DNGs into Lightroom.

How do I Print Accurate Color from Lightroom?
I just got my Epson 3880 2 weeks ago. The problem I am having is getting accurate color when printing from Lightroom. I am running a p.c. with Windows 8.1. To eliminate my monitor as the problem, I created a series of color patches in Photoshop, printed them and read them in using the X-Rite Color Munki Photo. Here is a list of thing I have done:
1) I chose Lightroom manages color, chose the appropriate icc profile in Lightroom, chose the appropriate paper in the printer dialogue box, and choose no color management in the printer dialogue box. The results are as follows:

Printing from Windows Photo Viewer – Printer Manages Color
Did I miss something in the Lightroom print section?
Message was edited by: David Nestico. Rather than just posing a list of numbers, I summarized what I thought was important. All data is there in case someone smarter than me can make more sense of it :)I thought my problem could be Lightroom is in ProphotoRGB color space, and my printer is Adobe1998 color space. To test this, I changed the color space of my patches from prophoto to AdobeRGB. I checked my colors in Photoshop, and made them match the RGB number I specified. It was interesting to note that (128,128,255) had a noticeable shift to purple. the other colors shifted slightly. Now I printed the test page with Lightroom managing color and the printer managing color. Both images came out similar.
This study came about when I was printing some images, and the sky had a definite purple shift. So, I took the image into Photoshop and converted the colorspace from prophoto to Adobe. Printed the image, and the image came out much better.
So the question now is, do I need to convert each image I print in Photoshop, or am I doing something wrong in Lightroom? -
Color change on exporting from lightroom and saving in Photoshop CS5
I have been having issues with my pictures with color management. I have Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS5. I thought over the last 2 years that it was just me. I have bought a Eizo monitor with a hood, calibrate with a i1display pro, painted my walls gray, updated my strobes from alien bees to elinchrome bxri's. Updated my sekonic meter to a L 758. Have done custom white balance with gray card, expodisc, xrite kits. The problem has been over the years when I work on a picture in lightroom and export it as jpeg or adobe rgb it gets saved to my external hardrive and the colors are really bad !! You can go back and compare the picture in lightroom to the picture on my iomega external drive and there is a significant difference. I do some animal photography and I had a dog that had brown fur and when I export it out of lightroom the dogs fur is actually a bright very orange color. Same thing happens with skin tones. When I import the photos into lightroom the pictures look ok. The same thing is happening when I go from lightroom to photoshop the picture color looks good but when I go to File-save as - tiff or jpeg the colors are changing. It does not matter what color space I am in I have tried them all it is still happening. If anyone has any insight that would be great.
TeresaThanks everyone for the help. I have only been doing photography for about 2 years and the color managment part has been my hardest thing to get right. My monitor ColorEdge CG243W LCD. Wide color gamut of 98%. Has a sensor on front of monitor that detects ambient brightness but this will only work if you are in a custom color mode. Modes are: custom, sRGB,DCI,EBU, Cal1. I use the Cal 1 to be able to use the Colornavigator software that came with the monitor. You also have to be in custom color mode to be able to manually adjust brightness, contrast, temperature on the monitr itself which I do not use because I use the Cal 1 mode. I was not sure about the digital input signals. I am on the DVI-I in which this allows digital signal input and analog signal input. There is a DVI-D mode that allows only digital input only. Also did not know if I needed to be concerned about setting the frequency that corresponds to the grahic board in the monitor ? My bandwith was set to normal and now is on wide. My digital input is for 1920x1200 resolution. Appicable signal is Vesa CVT RB. Frequency is 60 Hz. Yes I did call Eizo twice last year when I got my monitor and did not get very far. I have also called and spoke to a color specialist at my lab and told him the problems I have been having and he just told me to leave everything in sRGB. Well I would like to get the most from my monitor's color gamut and when working on my pictures so that is why I am still determined to get this figured out.
I use the i1 Dislpay Pro hardware to calibrate with and the ColorNavigator software. When calibrating. I go to create a new target---select enter manually--Gamut ( monitor native--states recommended)--Brightness 100cd---White point (6500k)--set black level (recommemded states mininum 0.2)---gamma 2.20---priority (set automatically to standard, this adjusts gray balance while maintaining the contrast)---then I hit calibrate and it goes through the process. The results I get are: Target Result
Brightness 100cd 99.9cd
Black Level minimum 0.15cd
contrast ratio 647:1
White Point 6500k 6501k
Gamma 2.20 R 0.6774,0.3136
G 0.2031,0.6992
B 0.1498,0.0499
Thanks again for your help I know this is alot of information but I thought it might help ?

I have been using a Lightroom 5 including recent upgrades on my Mac Pro laptop for the past 1 year. This was purchased as an upgrade from Lightroom 4 for which I have a serial number. Today I purchased a new Macbook pro and loaded my Lightroom 5 however it is asking for my serial number which I have misplaced. I am unable to trace my serial number anywhere. I have even checked my adobe membership to locate my serial number but it does not seem to have any record which is strange as I have been using this software for over a year now and the previous versions since 2009. Could someone help me in my predicament.

Is there a way to recover deleted photos from Lightroom?
Hi,
I recently lost pictures from my hard drive and I don't know how but I had deleted or removed the pictures from Lightroom as well. The catalog name still shows up on Lightroom but it shows that there are "0" pictures in the folder. Any advice on this?
Thanks!Your photos were never in Lightroom; Lightroom only displays thumbnails (called previews) of your photos. Thus, at best you can only recover the previews, which will be smaller sized and lower quality than the original photos. In order for that to work, you need to find a catalog file that displays the previews (the catalog with 0 pictures in it won't help). Look under File->Open Recent and see if you can find a catalog file which displays these previews. If you find such a catalog file, you can recover the previews via a plug-in
In general, to recover lost photos you should:
1. Restore from the Trash/Recycle Bin if they are in there
2. Restore from backups of your photos
3. If you don't have backups of your photos ... why not? ... you need to begin making regular and automated backups of your photos AND catalog file to a different hard disk, no excuses ...
4. Try an "undelete utility" which may be able to recover deleted files ... there are free ones available ... if you get down to this step, do not perform any other tasks on your computer except find and use this program
5. If that doesn't work, recover previews from Lightroom -
I have just upgraded from Lightroom 5 standalone to Lightroom 6 standalone. I appear to have been automatically enrolled for a 30 day free trial of Lightroom Mobile and Creative Cloud. Reading the FAQ, it appears that after the expiry of the free trial, if I do not sign up and pay, I will only be able to view my pictures on the desktop but not edit them - surely this cannot be true. How do I un-enroll for the 30 day free trial of Lightroom Mobile and CC?
When I was signed into Adobe (which was a requirement for installing the upgrade), Lightroom 6 told my at the top right corner that I had 30 days left of my free trial of Lightroom Mobile and Creative Cloud. In parallel with this forum posting, I am chatting with Adobe support. he is away to find out how to prevent any synching with Creative Cloud during the 30 day free trial. I do not think that Creative Cloud is an application that gets installed on your PC. I think Lightroom 6 has it built in, and can use it if if you are signed up to the Creative Cloud and Lightroom Mobile (which I am for 30 days)

How come I can no longer open a file direct from Lightroom 4 to PS 5.1??
I use to be able to open a RAW file directly from Lightroom to PS, make my edits and then have the edited file resaved to Lightroom but no longer. Why?
Hi Ryan,
Would suggest you to try the suggestions mentioned here. Lightroom: Edit In External Editor does not work/function
Also, make sure your Lightroom and Photoshop both are up-to-date.
Cheers!

Folders with photo files are lost due to external hard drive crashing. Processed photo's are still in LR. How can I export from LR to a file (any file) that no longer exists? Help!!!
Well, no backups, the technical term for that is "a problem". I think from this point forward, you need to commit yourself to making regular automated backups of all of your photos and catalog file to different physical disks, no excuses.
Your photos are not stored in Lightroom. However, Lightroom does create "previews", this is what you are seeing, but these are usually smaller and low-quality compared to the originals. There are plug-ins that can extract the previews from Lightroom. One such plug-in is here robcole.com - PreviewExporter
