From NI's 'Image' type to OpenCV's 'IplImage' type...

Hello,
I am using LabWindows/CVI's 'grab' project. I can grab images from the camera connected to the NI card. How it does this? It does this in the GrabNewImage function:
   myImage = imaqGrab (sid, myImage, FALSE);
   imaqDisplayImage (myImage, 0, 1);
And myImage is declared as an 'Image*'  type:
   static Image* myImage = NULL;
I want to call OpenCV functions. But I cannot. I should have an image type of Iplimage*:
How can I convert from 'Image' type to 'Iplimage' type?
What about?
IplImage* frame = 0;frame = cvCreateImage( _size, IPL_DEPTH_8U, 4 );
frame->imageData = myImage*;
Will it work?
Thank you so much!!

no this assignment will not work, you will need a more advanced conversion.
you can find a pointer to the first pixel of your NI image by calling imaqGetImageInfo(): it is stored in the imageStart member of the structure returned by the function. then you will have to be careful about borders, padding and the likes: a line of pixel is pixelsPerLine wide. you may have a way to specify padding when creating the OpenCV image: after looking quickly to OpenCV documentation, InitImageHeader() is the only function that allows you to specify padding. then you have the problem of datatypes: if you are using 8bit grayscale images then you are fine, but if you are using color images you have to pay attention to the color encoding (rgb, yuv, or other, generally you have an rgb image) and channel ordering (red, green and blue components of an rgb imagemay appear in a different order). now that you are aware of all the peculiarities of image conversion, you can write your conversion (i am confident it will be straighforward). now you have to be careful that OpenCV functions do not reallocate or move the memory block containing the pixel data or you will not be able to use you NI image anymore.
i am confident the conversion function is straighforward: use the cvInitImageHeader function with the right arguments, then set the imageData member of the OpenCV image.

  • Import IMAGE type from SQL Server to BLOB in Oracle

    Hello,
    Is there a way to import a IMAGE type from SQL Server to BLOB type in Oracle from one table to another through a database link?
    I'm waiting for an answer as soon as possible.
    Best regards,

    Have you already configured a Heterogeneous Services and Generic Connectivity to create a database link from Oracle to SQL Server? I haven't tried copying IMAGE data from SQL Server via Heterogeous Services myself, but from the [data type map|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14232/apb.htm#sthref509] in the documentation, I would expect that it would work so long as the SQL Server ODBC driver maps the IMAGE data type to SQL_LONGVARBINARY

  • Automator - Change Image Type - Multiple page PDF- TIFF conversion

    I was able to do this on a friend's computer (not sure which version of OS X they were running), but this seems impossible on Snow Leopard.
    I need to convert hundreds of multiple page PDFs to TIFFs. I can't get this to work, and the Change Image Type option only lists single page PDF conversion. I could separate PDFs into multiple files, convert to TIFFs, but then I don't know how to recombine a bunch of TIFF pages into a larger file. From google searches, I know this is possible using tiffutil, but I don't really understand how to use that well, and I really need an automatic process.
    I'm at my wits end with this, because I did it just last week on someone else's computer and it was easy as pie. Why can't you convert multiple page PDFs in Snow Leopard?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    I just tried this - two problems.
    It creates a separate tiff document for each page of the input pdf.
    Also, this action is just annoying because it results in randomly named files in some temp folder that i can only locate using the reveal finder item action. I know I can rename files in automator, but I'd really like to have the output file have the same name as the input file.
    It confuses me why they would remove this functionality in Snow Leopard.

  • Specific need: to generate a cylindrical projection NOT from a sphere, but from a flat image

    Specific need: to generate a cylindrical projection NOT from a sphere, but from a flat image, like a person's face, etc., such that the cylindrical projection can be used to wrap a sphere (via other software such as the DX I use), where the face could be positioned arbitrarily at the equator (where a cylindrical projection image created FROM a sphere appears most normal), a pole (where a cylindrical projection image created FROM a sphere appears most stretched out), or anywhere else on the resultant sphere's surface. This would allow creation of a, say, a cylindrical projection of a sphere that represents a numbered billiard ball from a flat representation of the number design. Is there an Adobe or Photoshop product that will provide this? Thanks for any help!

    Thanks, Noel. Here's the crux: the image sphincters at the poles, natch. I've been looking for an algorithm or feature in a graphics app that would assume that the flat image of joetalker's entry would be spread proportionately at the poles so that the size of print would be uniform (or the shape of face photo, etc).
    Using such a feature would dictate that type, lets say, would be distributed on the flat image something like this in order not to lose too much at the edges (where the sphere mesh meets at 0-longitude), and sphincters as latitude approaches the poles:
    ++++++++Hello+++++++++
    +++++How are you &+++++
    ++What can I do for you+++
    +++++How are you &+++++
    ++++++++Hello+++++++++
    Yes, over-simplified. Here with a photo, where the original photo is "X" signs, and the empty space is "+" signs, along with the desired created cylindrical projection ready for a sphere mesh:
    Example 1 at equator:
    original:
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++
    ++++++++++XXXXX++++++++++
    +++++++++XXXXX++++++++++
    +++++++++++XXXX+++++++++
    ++++++++++XXX++++++++++
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++
    created cylindrcal projection:
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++
    ++++++++XXXXXXXXX++++++++
    +++++++++XXXXX++++++++++
    +++++++++XXXXXXXX+++++++
    +++++++XXXXXXXXX+++++++
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++
    +++++++++++++++++++++++
    -very similar, with a widening at top and bottom of "photo", right?
    Example 2 at poles:
    original:
    +++++++++++XXXX+++++++++    (bottom of photo)
    ++++++++++XXX++++++++++
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++
    ++++++++++XXXXX++++++++++   (top of photo)
    +++++++++XXXXX++++++++++
    created cylindrcal projection:
    +++XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX+++
    ++++++XXXXXXXXXXXXX++++++
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++
    +++++XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX++++++
    ++XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX+++
    -now with an even more widening toward the poles to compensate for the pole sphinctering.
    If starting with a true globe already spatially correct, creating a cylindrical projection is commonplace. I'm attempting to find an app that will create a cylindrical projection-like graphic ready for a sphere mesh from a flat photo or graphic. The above example would place the photo in correct proportion over the pole of the sphere, discarding information at the ever decreasing edges as the image projects to the poles.
    Hope this is clear, and thanks again!
    -Johnny

  • Error -1074396077 (IMAQ Vision: Incompatible image type) after running IMAQ Mask

    I am attempting to process color picture of pellet. I want to exclude any particle that touches the edges of the color images. I created mask from original image and used this mask on the original color image to retain only the color particles that don't touch the boundary. The error occured  when I ran the IMAQ Mask. The error message is “Error -1074396077 (IMAQ Vision:  Incompatible image type)”. How can I fix it ?

    Hi XuanThuy,
    The IMAQ Cast function is part of the Vision Development Module (VDM), under the Image Management Palette, as indicated by this document: http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370281P-01/imaqvision/imaq_cast_image/. If you can't locate it and you indeed have the VDM, there may be an issue with the installation of this module. A similar issue has been encountered and resolved in this forum post: http://forums.ni.com/t5/Machine-Vision/can-t-find-IMAQ-cast-image-vi/td-p/340157. What version of the vision software are you using?

    Hello. So, it's difficult to say, but the following line is probably the cause of the problem.:
    Image sourceImage = new ImageIcon(Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getImage(newName));Basically, you are making an ImageIcon by passing an image, but perhaps you can just replace the line with this:
    Image sourceImage = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getImage(newName);I use ImageIcon when reading from files, such as:
    BufferedImage image = ImageIO.read(file);
    Icon icon = new ImageIcon(image);However, if you already have an Image, I don't see why you just can't just use the Image reference. Perhaps someone more wise will have a more concise answer. Good luck.

  • Creating multiple links from one map image in Flash CS4

    I have been tasked with creating multiple links from one map image using flash. Each link would go to the main website page with that location. I assume I could create a button for each location on the map but not having a lot of experience any help / tutorial you know of would be super helpful.. Thanks! Not looking for someone to work me thru it but a little guidance would be great!

    If I was to answer the problem, I would be giving you what you asked not to be given... the solution.  So I'll suggest that you start by researching the getURL() function.  That is what AS2 uses for opening web pages.
    As for coding a button, I'll recommend the following article for you... it will explain the proper approach to coding a button, which will give you an advantage over others who don't follow it, but instead use the way the article says not to.
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/as_bestpractices_04.html
    Google is one of the best resources available for learning how to do things with Flash--it's the first place I go when I have a wondering.  In general, if you type in the right keywords, you get fairly good search results.  In your case, combinations of "AS2", "button", "getURL", "tutorial" would probably work well.

  • Incompatible image type

    I'm getting an imcompatible image type when using Setup Pattern 2, Learn Pattern 2, and Match Pattern 2. I understand that this error is thrown when the bit depths of the image template and searchable image are different, but in my case, everybody is a 16bit image.
    Any suggestions? Attached is an image of my setup.  You can see from the probes that everybody is a 16bit image.

    Whoops, moved to Vision forum

  • IMAQ resample invalid image type

    Hi,
    I am rewriting an old non-versatile version of a VI. I don't have much experience but I have the old VI as sort of a template for what I need to do. It's weird but although I try to do things exactly the same way, they don't work.
    I acquire a high resolution image from the camera (IMAQ Acquire) which is too big (1280x1024). I want to resample (IMAQ Resample) it to 256x320px.
    I get the error message: Error -1074396080 occurred at IMAQ Resample Invalid image type.
    The probe I put in to read the Image Src shows the image correctly and tells me it is an unsigned 16 bit image. This should be a valid image type, right?

    P.S. I use LabView 2009
    Solved!

    No, not right. IMAQ Resample doesn't support U16 type (at least up to VDM2011). Refer to Help.
    Convert your image to I16 (if possible) prior to resampling.

            $(this).removeAttr('title')
    </script>
    [/code]
    Can some one who is expert writing JQuery please throw some light here and tell me what is that I am doing wrong here.
    I am using Oracle Apex 4.2.1 version.
    Thanks,
    Raj.

    Not sure why you thought the noConflict call was needed.  APEX includes jQuery already.
    You're pretty close, but your don't want to remove the title from ALL the images on the page. You want to be a little more specific.
    The image you want to target has a class of ui-datepicker-trigger so go with that.
    Create an Advanced Dynamic action that runs on on "Page Load". Use this javascript code:
    $(".ui-datepicker-trigger").removeAttr("title");
    Thanks

  • Reliability of restoring from a disk image vs from a "normal" backup file

    How would you rate the reliability of restoring your data from a disk image file (a sparseimage file, in this case/question) versus from a 'normal' file, e.g. one created by the Backup 3 app?
    I read a few discussions here that mention corrupted disk image files...that result in a total loss of data...as opposed to other types of backup files, in which individual files, or folders, could be corruputed.
    For some context: my ultimate goal is (a) to create reliable backup files, e.g. in folders in my Home Folder, stored on an external disk drive, and (b) to secure that data.
    Thanks to Niel, in a prior discussion, I discovered that I could create a sparseimage file on the Lacie (encrypted).
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=763337&tstart=0
    I could then select that secured file as the target / destination for the backup file/s I'm creating with the Backup 3 app. When I log out, that file is locked tight.
    But is this 'elegant' solution for backing up data "reliable" when I'll need it at 3am on that dark day when...?
    Many thanks.

    words to help others' search:
    BU3; sparse image;
    MBP 15" Core 2 Duo | LaCie d2 250GB ext   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    I keep both images of my boot volume which is just OS and apps, and of my home directory. But I also have full regular backups as well. It is not "either or" but a matter of having backup sets that will work. And rotating those sets.
    A daily backup, weekly, and monthly. That could require 3 or even 7 or more. Or partitions. But definitely more than one disk drive.
    One disk drive backup set should always be safely off line when making a backup set.
    Just as I have a clone of the system, an emergency boot drive, and one backup of the last OS revision.
    You have to change sparseimage to dmg if you hope to use Apple Disk Utility Restore, especially if you are working from DVD and not from a hard drive.
    I've used DU restore and SuperDuper and never seen or suffered a problem or corruption. But I zero drives before use.

  • 1394 invalid image type

    I am trying to use the NIIMAQ1394 functions in VB. I finaly figured out how to snap an image into the CWIMAQViewer, but when I try to use it as a CWIMAQViewer.Image after it is displayed in the viewer in a CWIMAQVision Function I recieve invlaid image type error. Below is the code I am trying to use.
    errorCode = imaq1394SnapCW(sid, myImage2)
    If (errorCode <> IMG1394_ERR_GOOD) Then
    DisplayError (errorCode)
    Stopped_Click
    End If
    CWIMAQVision1.Threshold CWIMAQViewer1.Image, myImage, 150, 255
    So what I really want to know is how to you use the images aquired in the NIIMAQ1394 in all these NIVision Functions for Measurement Studio?

    You have to make sure you are capturing the image in MONO form. The CWIMAQVISION cant handle color images from the viewer. It will just crash your whole computer and not give you an error that you may need to use a 8 bit image.

  • Strange behavior with invalid image type error

    Hi,
    I'm currently developing a stereo vision application. I started with the StereoVisionExample provided by NI but want to use my own camera drivers.
    I created the GetImage vi (see attachment) that accepts the camera handle and an allocated image, reads the acquired image from the camera, transforms the image array to a color image and returns it. I tested it with the TestVI (attached) and it works perfectly well.
    Now I wanted to integrate it as image source for the given example application and replace the ExpressVIs but this doesn't work. I get a 1074396080 invalid image type error as soon as the GetImage SubVI is called. The only possibility to run it without an error is to set the image type to RGB64 but in this case the image is not shown correctly. I get the error no matter if I choose Grayscale, HSL or RGB32 for the initial image creation. The strange is that with the TestVI everything works perfect, even with HSL that I'm using to get the grayscale image or RGB32. Basically I didn't do anything except copying the VI from Test to StereoExample. It's driving me crazy that the GetImage VI works perfect in the one but not in the other VI with the same data! What's wrong with that?
    I appreciate your help.

    Hello NicoSch!
    In order to reproduce the error, I need the image data generated by the image driver you are using. Please wire the 2D array with the image data to a control on the frontpanel and run the VI. With the data now displayed, right-click the control and choose "Data Operations > Make Current Value Default" to save the data in the control. Please attach the VI to a new forum post.
    Additionally, can you describe the type of image acquired by the camera? Is the 2D array a 32bit RGB image? What camera and LabVIEW version are you using?
    Regards,
      Georg

  • Unexpected IMAQ image type conversion indicated

    When wiring an Image to an IMAQ "object"/vi (e.g. Write Custom Data, Image Info, Calibration, ...) a type conversion indicator (grey dot) appears whenever the wire starts at a property node.
    The conversion indicator doesn't appear when wiring from a local variable or an unbundle "object".
    I would expect the value of an image object to behave similarly, regardless whether it is wired from a local variable, unbundle node or property node. Am I getting something wrong, is this a bug, or is there really some data type conversion going on?
    Many thanks for all answers

    The image type is a type def.  It appears that the Value returns a non-typedef value.  LV shows a conversion dot whenever you change between a non-typedef and typedef variable, even if they are the exact same structure.
