Strange behavior with invalid image type error

Hi,
I'm currently developing a stereo vision application. I started with the StereoVisionExample provided by NI but want to use my own camera drivers.
I created the GetImage vi (see attachment) that accepts the camera handle and an allocated image, reads the acquired image from the camera, transforms the image array to a color image and returns it. I tested it with the TestVI (attached) and it works perfectly well.
Now I wanted to integrate it as image source for the given example application and replace the ExpressVIs but this doesn't work. I get a 1074396080 invalid image type error as soon as the GetImage SubVI is called. The only possibility to run it without an error is to set the image type to RGB64 but in this case the image is not shown correctly. I get the error no matter if I choose Grayscale, HSL or RGB32 for the initial image creation. The strange is that with the TestVI everything works perfect, even with HSL that I'm using to get the grayscale image or RGB32. Basically I didn't do anything except copying the VI from Test to StereoExample. It's driving me crazy that the GetImage VI works perfect in the one but not in the other VI with the same data! What's wrong with that?
I appreciate your help.

Hello NicoSch!
In order to reproduce the error, I need the image data generated by the image driver you are using. Please wire the 2D array with the image data to a control on the frontpanel and run the VI. With the data now displayed, right-click the control and choose "Data Operations > Make Current Value Default" to save the data in the control. Please attach the VI to a new forum post.
Additionally, can you describe the type of image acquired by the camera? Is the 2D array a 32bit RGB image? What camera and LabVIEW version are you using?

Georg

• I get an 'Invalid Image Type' error when using the Locate Features. (Evaluation version)

I'm using the Evaluation Version of Vision Builder. I Simulate Acquisition using my own image (jpg), which loads fine. However, when I try to use any of the Inspection Steps features, other than Enhance Images, I get an "Invalid Image Type" error.

Hello,
Vision Builder functions usually work with a certain image type. For example, all the functions listed under Binary (in the menubar) will only work with binary images. Likewise, color functions will work for color images and grayscale will work for grayscale images.
You can convert a color image into a grayscale by extracting a color plane and a grayscale image can be converted to binary using the threshold function.
Hope this helps!

• Strange behavior with csv flat file integration

Hi,
i've a real strange behavior with csv flat file integration.
I've defined the file inbound with | as separator

When i changed the separator to ; in my file and in the file inbound it gives the following.
Everything is ok.

Why using a different separator would change the payload ?
It will be a good thing for me if I could use the pipe separator.
Thanks

Can you give the steps you're using to get this error? I'm not seeing any problem here.
1) Create a new audio project (44.1 KHz).
2) Arm the record head in track 1 by pressing the "R" button in that track. Verify audio levels.
3) Record by pressing the record button in the audio controls.
4) Stop recording by pressing the stop button.
5) Play back the resulting audio. Sounds fine.
6) Select File > Export.
7) Change the file format to WAVE file. Change the bit depth to 16 bit, change the sample rate to 44.1 KHz.
8) Type the name SAVETEST.wav and click on the Export button.
9) Play back the resulting WAV file in QuickTime Player, Apple Loops Utility, etc. and it seems just fine.
What am I missing that you're doing?

• Imaq invalid image type

Hi,
i try to analyse a video image. it is an image typ 32 bit rgb. In the sub vi I try to count the pixel with a red value greater than the green and the blue value. Therefore i need to split the colorplanes.
After that I write the values in an arry to count them.
Sometimes the Error "Invalid image typ" appears. I´m not sure why this error sometimes appeared and sometimes not.
I hope someone can help me to find the solution.

Hello,
does the error happen only, when your ROI is passed as an empty cluster? So, if you have an active ROI, there is no error right?
Make sure your ROI is not empty, or alternatively you could use "IMAQ SetImageSize" after allocating the memory for the mask (set the size to the same size as the input rgb image with "IMAQ GetImageSize".
Does this help?

• JDBC/SQLJ Team - Please respond - invalid column type error

Hi, I have posted several messages regarding problems using SQL/J to call out a stored packaged function that returns a ref cursor, but haven't gotten one response. I have yet a new problem with it. JDBC team, please acknowledge!
I change the way I obtain a connection to the database from using the Oracle.connect along with a properties file, to now using a DataSource connection pool. As a result, I am constantly getting a SQLException: Invalid column type error. If I change the call to the stored function to a query in the SQLJ code, it's fine. What's going on??
A previous message I wrote stated I was constantly getting a "closed statement" error when I tried to call the next method of the iterator. I corrected this by removing the finally clause in the generated JDBC code that released the execution context.
Again, the environment is JDK1.2.2, SQLJ 8.1.6 SDK, JDBC 8.1.6 thin, all on NT.
Thanks
David

I am getting the same error message - Invalid Column Type. I am creating a Default Context by calling Oracle.getConnection(connection) passing in an instance of my own connection class that basically delegates to the OracleConnection. We wrapped the Connection so that we could trap and recover from lost database connections.
My environment is Solaris 2.6, Oracle 7.3.4 with Sqlj 8.0.5.
Thanks!

• Strange behavior with "insertTextAsContent"

Hi,
I've got a strange behavior with this loop :
for (j = 0; j < myParagraph.characters.length-1; j++) {
var myCharacter = myParagraph.characters[j];
if (myCharacter.appliedFont.fontStyleName == "Regular") {
alert(myCharacter.contents);
myXmlElement.insertTextAsContent(myCharacter.contents, XMLElementPosition.ELEMENT_END);
I loop through every characters of a paragraph, test if they are "regular", "italic", "bold"..., and store them in different xmlElement. Everything is fine except that every double characters (in french : homme, cette, elle, ville...) output in my xmlElement as one only character (home, cete, ele, vile...). I try with "aaaaaazzzzzzeeeeeerrrrrtttttyyyyy" and it give me, the same way, "azerty" ?!
The "alert" line output the correct full sentences character by character ("h", "o", "m", "m", "e"...).
If you have any idea to explain, you are more than welcome
Thanks
** edit : don't know if it's important but I'm using CS6 **

Hi
Have you seen this in the object model viewer?
XMLElement.insertTextAsContent (using:varies, position: XMLElementPosition ): Text
Adobe InDesign CC (8.0) Object Model
Inserts the specified text as content before, in, or after the XML element.
using: Data Type: varies
The text to be inserted. Can accept: String or SpecialCharacters enumerator.
position: Data Type: XMLElementPosition
The position at which to insert the text. Note that text inserted before or after the element does not become part of the content of the element. Instead, it becomes content of the parent of the element.
Don't ask me why it works when there is no doubled character
So i tried the following and it worked. I hope this will solve your problem.
function main() {
if (app.documents.length != 0) {
var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
var myParagraph = myDoc.textFrames[0].paragraphs[0];
var myXmlElement  = myDoc.xmlElements[0];
for (j = 0; j < myParagraph.characters.length-1; j++) {
var myCharacter = myParagraph.characters[j];
if (myCharacter.appliedFont.fontStyleName == "Regular") {
alert(myCharacter.contents);
myXmlElement.contents += myCharacter.contents;
alert(">" + myXmlElement.contents+ "<");
}     // if
}     //for
}     // if
}   // main()

• LabWindows/CVI and IMAQ - Invalid Image Type when saving bitmap

I create and image, grab it, then display it, but when I go to save it using imaqWriteBMPFile, I get an error that maps to Invalid Image Type, so I use imaqCast to cast it to an IMAQ_IMAGE_U8 type (which is what the orignal image was created as), then it works, except that my image has changed, that looks like the contrast or something has changed. Any suggestions?

What kind of camera & IMAQ board are you using? I have seen similar problems when a 12 bit camera is used. The image is acquired as a 16 bit image, and if you just convert it to an 8 bit image, it ends up looking like the one you attached. To correctly convert to 8 bits, you need to shift the appropriate number of bits during the conversion. For a 12 bit camera, that would be 4 bits.

• IMAQ resample invalid image type

Hi,
I am rewriting an old non-versatile version of a VI. I don't have much experience but I have the old VI as sort of a template for what I need to do. It's weird but although I try to do things exactly the same way, they don't work.
I acquire a high resolution image from the camera (IMAQ Acquire) which is too big (1280x1024). I want to resample (IMAQ Resample) it to 256x320px.
I get the error message: Error -1074396080 occurred at IMAQ Resample Invalid image type.
The probe I put in to read the Image Src shows the image correctly and tells me it is an unsigned 16 bit image. This should be a valid image type, right?

P.S. I use LabView 2009

No, not right. IMAQ Resample doesn't support U16 type (at least up to VDM2011). Refer to Help.
Convert your image to I16 (if possible) prior to resampling.

• Strange behavior with DefaultCellEditor

Hello everybody,
I found a strange behavior with DefaultCellEditor using a JTextField in a JTable. The following line will show, what I mean:
setDefaultCellEditor(String.class,new DefaultCellEditor(new JTextField()));
Imho this should do the same as JTable does already, when it installs a JTextField as default cell editor for cell values of the String class. But, it seems, that it is not the same:
When I add this line in the constructor of a JTable subclass the editor component seems to be less wide and less high to the right and bottom - it looks so with Win95 with JDK 1.4.0 - but with Win2000 it is correct for example.
My question is - how can it be, that the normal default cell editor does not have this behavior but when I use the line above, it is displayed in the wrong way?- What does the default cell editor in another way than I do it, that it has not this ugly display?
I would like to look in the sources, but unfortunately I can't find the source code in JDK 1.4.0 - perhaps you have a hint, where to find it.
greetings Marsian

It seems the Label doesn't like it, that it is in a GridCell with rowspan = 2
If it is in a normal cell (no rowspan), it works.
If I add ColumnConstraints to the gridpane, it kind of works, but the Label still occupies more space than it should.

• Strange behavior with Collections

Hello!
I have a - from my point of view - strange behavior with a List (same also applies to Vector, LinkedList, and others):

while (true) {
try {
System.out.println(myList.size());
throw new Exception();
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}And the result is 1, 2, 2, 2, ...although I added only one element. The two elements in the List point to the same object.
What could case this issue?

What I need for my application is the use case in useBinding1(), i.e., a BooleanBinding where several listeners are attached to. The problem is that I never get a callback in the ChangeListener if one of the RadioButton.selectedProperty() is changed.
Now I tried what happens if I use the same BooleanBinding for another binding to a property plus the listener, now the listener gets callbacks as expected! (see useBinding2() )
Than I thought may be Bindings must be bound in order to trigger listeners and tried useBinding3() where I bind the BooleanBinding to a new BooleanProperty, in this case the listener doesn't get callback anymore...
And now I'm very frustrated and hope that anyone out there can help me to understand this strange behavior.
Thanks a lot!
WhiteAntelope

All these work just fine for me: the listeners are all called as expected. Note that the listener is only invoked when the value of the binding actually changes, which doesn't happen every time a radio button is pressed. (For example, if both buttons are unselected, the binding is false. If one button is selected, the binding remains false and the listener is not invoked. When the second button is selected, the binding becomes true, and the listener is invoked.)

• 1394 invalid image type

I am trying to use the NIIMAQ1394 functions in VB. I finaly figured out how to snap an image into the CWIMAQViewer, but when I try to use it as a CWIMAQViewer.Image after it is displayed in the viewer in a CWIMAQVision Function I recieve invlaid image type error. Below is the code I am trying to use.
errorCode = imaq1394SnapCW(sid, myImage2)
If (errorCode <> IMG1394_ERR_GOOD) Then
DisplayError (errorCode)
Stopped_Click
End If
CWIMAQVision1.Threshold CWIMAQViewer1.Image, myImage, 150, 255
So what I really want to know is how to you use the images aquired in the NIIMAQ1394 in all these NIVision Functions for Measurement Studio?

You have to make sure you are capturing the image in MONO form. The CWIMAQVISION cant handle color images from the viewer. It will just crash your whole computer and not give you an error that you may need to use a 8 bit image.

I am having a strange behavior in my environment. We are running Exchange 2010 with Outlook 2007 for client access. Some of these clients needs to access some pop3 accounts from diferent vendors.
About 2 weeks ago, we start getting error Ox800CCC13 (as described above) when users try to send email through their pop3 accounts in Outlook. This only happens to about 5 out of 100 users. I have removed the pop3 account and readded it. I was able to send
just one email out then issue was back.
Next, I tried sending out simple text message with no attachment. No luck. However, I noticed when I remove the signature (10 kb gif image) I was able to send out a few emails. However, issue is back with or without signature.
For more testing, I added Mozilla Thunderbird client for the pop3 account with no exchange account and so far no error. Emails are sending out fine. I would appreciate any insight please.

Hi,
This problem may occur if the Outlook 2007 client computer does not have a default gateway configured.
For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.To
add this DWORD value yourself, follow these steps.
Outlook 2007
1.
Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
2.
Locate and then click the following subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\RPC
3.
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
4.
Type DefConnectOpts, and then press ENTER.
5.
Right-click DefConnectOpts, and then click Modify.
6.
In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
7.
Exit Registry Editor.
Sincerely
Harry

• Strange behavior with Zoom and Image control

HELP - I have a strange behavior (bug?) with using Zoom
effect on an Image that has been placed on a Canvas. I am using
dynamically instantiated images which are placed on a canvas inside
a panel. I then assign a Zoom IN and Zoom Out behavior to the
image, triggered by ROLL_OVER and ROLL_OUT effect triggers. THE BUG
is that the image jumps around on the Zoom OUT and lands on a
random place on the canvas instead of coming back to the original
spot. This is especially true if the mouse goes in and out of the
image very quickly. HELP -- what am I doing wrong? Computer = Mac
OS X 10.4.9 Flex 2.0.1
Here's a simple demo of the bug -- be sure to move the mouse
in and out rapidly:

var image:Image = Image(event.currentTarget);
if (event.type == MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER) {
zoomIn.target = event.currentTarget;
zoomIn.play();
} else if (event.type == MouseEvent.ROLL_OUT) {
zoomOut.target = event.currentTarget;
zoomOut.play();
]]>
</mx:Script>
<mx:Panel width="100%" height="100%"
layout="absolute">
<mx:Canvas id="myCanvas" width="100%" height="100%">
</mx:Canvas>
</mx:Panel>
</mx:Application>

There must be bugs in the Zoom effect code -- I changed the
Zoom to Resize in the above code, and it works perfectly. Of
course, Resize is not as nice as Zoom because you can't set the
resize to be around the center of the image, but at least it works.
Does anyone know about bugs in the Zoom effect?
