Front End Variable to Multiple Queries

I need to create a front end variable selection on plant that will then pass the plant as a parameter to run a Bex query that is based on plant. I cannot seem to accomplish this in BEX Query designer am I new to WAD. I don't want to publish 20+ queries to the portal and instead want to publish one query with a variable input that runs the "sub-query" based on the input variable parameter.
Example user inputs plant. The query is for sales of slow moving items that is plant specific. Each query has restrictions based on material number for 500 materials. There is not currently a way to identify these materials by plant for master data...
Any guidance is greatly appreciated

Why dont you go for Restriction with Manula Entry Variable on Material Variable, by doing this you can have one query instead of 20 queries,
Variable selection Screen will be like the below,
Plant -
MAnual Entry (Single Mandatery)
Material------ Manual Entry (Multiple Entry / Range )

Ready for Input Variables for Multiple Queries in I_T_VAR_RANGE

I created Web template which contains multiple views/queries. Two views/queries contain Ready for Input Variables. I have custeomer exit code for this Web template. I wrote code by using Ready for input variable which pass to customer exit code. But the variables which contain in two views/queries not appearing in I_T_VAR_RANGE. The two variables belongs to different views and I required those variables. please find below code:
    WHEN 'ZVBCUST'.
      LOOP AT i_t_var_range INTO w_var_range WHERE vnam = 'ZVAR1'.
        g_soldto = w_var_range-low.
      ENDLOOP.
      LOOP AT i_t_var_range INTO w_var_range WHERE vnam = 'ZVAR2'
        g_zvbsshto = w_var_range-vnam.
        g_shipto = w_var_range-low.
      ENDLOOP.
The above 'ZVAR1' is ready for input variable which belongs to one Query and below 'ZVAR2' is other ready for input variable which belongs to second query. I required these two at a time when customer exit variable 'ZVBCUST' executes.
But in I_T_VAR_RANGE only one variable appears when I execute Web Template . Kindly help me in this regard

Hi,
First thing is to how you have defined your variable such as
Customer exit or
Replacement path or
Manual input etc..
If you want your variable filled through the exit select Customer Exit, then you have to look at the variable options such as Single value or range. According to your definition you have code as you defined such as wa_range-opt = 'BT' or 'EQ'.
Next..
In CMOD -> your project -> EXIT_SAPLRRS0_001 -> include 'ZXRSRU01' ->
ISTEP = 1 -> before the variable pop up will be filled by the exit
when 'your variable'

ISTEP = 2 -> after the variable pop up i.e after running your selections, calculates the values for your variables after selection screen execution.
when 'your varaible'

ISTEP = 3 -> Validation purpose and message handling purpose
when 'your variable'

BI - Java front end ...multiple BW abap back-ends?

Experts,
we have a BI java/portal running NW7.01sp6 (portal/BIjava application types). We have used the config wizard to successfully connect to our BW NW7.02 abap back-end in order to run bex, etc.
My question is this:
Is it possible to connect the BI-java portal to multiple BW abap back-ends? Or should we have one BI-java portal for each BW abap back-end?
This may be the wrong forum for this question. If so, please forgive me and point me to the correct one.

Each SAP Web Application Server Java always has precisely one SAP Web Application Server ABAP, which serves as a BI master system. The metadata for Web items and Data Providers is read from this system, for example, and this is the only system from which you can start Web templates and Enterprise reports.
If you want to display Web templates that originate from more than one SAP Web Application Server ABAP in an SAP Enterprise Portal, for example, you can use the Global Portal technology.
Does anyone have any idea what they mean by "Global Portal technology"? Or should I just bite the bullet and install another BI java portal to go with the ABAP instance.

OBIEE 11g Front End Calculations with Presentation Variables Error

Hi Guru's,
Long time user first time poster to the forums but hopefully you can help.
I have a requirement to perform an aggregation on certain fields with a dynamic grouping requirement (so users can select which grouping they require ie, sum profit by [outlets or companies or region]).
The approach I am using is a prompt setting a presentation variable with the possible groupings for the calculation as choices, and a column in the report with a formula to SUM("table"."column" by "@{variable}{default}") this also contains a dynamic column name containing the presentation variable too.
Where the column could be profit and the variable prompt options could be outlet, company or region (from the above example).
This is currently separate from the RPD due to the dynamic nature required with groupings changing at run time and is done in the front end.
However on selecting some columns via the prompt I receive this error:
Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError: 22027] Union of non-compatible types. (HY000)
This only occurs on some field groupings, and is not a certain type in particular. (Including both short date, short time and varchars).
Any ideas where this problem could stem from?

Key Figure in Queries migrated to BI 7.0 front-end

Hello Experts. We are currently migrating queries from 3.5 front-end to 7,0 front-end. Some queries that used to work in 3.5 withoug key figures no longer work after migrating to 7.0. Can someone tell me if there is a way to resolve this? Changing the query is out of the question. Can someone point me to any forum document or Blog if there is any? Thank you for your help.

I did encounter an error - the error said that a key figure needs to be specifiied. The other thing is, the query does have a formula which means it does have a key figure. It migrates in spite of the error but does not execute and displays the same error message about a key figure needs to be added.
We are on Pacth Level 13.
On a side note, there is a way to restore the query from 7.0 back to 3.5 Abap program 'Component_Restroe' will do it.

How can I use an Access front end and Access button to control a LabView Shared variable boolean?

My company has invested a lot of money on the office network to write many many access databases and front ends. I'm looking for a way to tie a button on an access front end to toggle a LabView boolean shared variable to notify me when they changed something on their side of the network. I'm not seeing anything that helps on a web or forum search. They don't like the idea of a separate labview control that they have to push a button on to let me know.

Hi Patrick,
While this is not the intended purpose of Network-Published Shared Variables, you might be able to accomplish this by writing separate accessor VIs for reading from and writing to the variable, making sure to wire the inputs and outputs. Then, you could build a DLL, making sure that you include the accessor VIs as Exported VIs and include the DLL Library in the Always Included section of the DLL Build Specifications. During this process, you will define the function prototype, which will provide the function call, required parameters, and return values. Once the DLL is created, you can then call it and its functions from another programming language (C, C++, C#, VB, etc.). This may or may not work, but it is the only way that I can think of at this point. I have included some references that may help you in this process.

Variable Sequence when using multiple queries

Hi Experts,
how can I adjust the variable sequence of a workbook that uses multiple queries (with variables of which each exists in at least two included queries)?
E.g.:
DP1 with variable sequence "A, B, D"
DP_2 with variable sequence "A, C, D"
DP_3 with variable sequence "B, C"
I want "A, B, C, D" as the sequence for the workbook but i did not figure out how to adjust this.
I already tried to insert a dummy DataProvider that holds all variables in the right sequence.. No success..
Any help very appreciated!

I wonder how the displayed sequence of the common variables is derived from the underlying queries. Perhaps one can change the sequence of the variables by inserting the DataProviders in another sequence?!

Deploy web application to multiple web front end servers

Hi,
I have a SharePoint farm that include 8 web front end servers and 2 application servers. I have created web application from central administration and during creation I added the public URL to refer to one of the web front end servers.
Now I want to be able to access the same web application from the other web front end servers what shall be done. I have tried to add alternate access mapping but i found that i only have 5 alternatives (Default, Intranet, Extranet,Internet and Custom) while
I need to access it from 8 different sites with the IP or name.
Can anyone tell me what is the best practice for that.

I have create my web application under the default port "80" I provided the URL for one of the web frontend servers machine name "http://Machine Name:80/"

Multiple PDF outputs from front-end

I am working on a report that always shows one page per customer. When user generates report from front-end interface, this will call BI Publisher report and report shows entire customers information in one PDF (with X pages for X customers). Users want to see X number of PDF documents with each PDF having 1 page for customer when this report is invoked on demand from a front-end application. Is this possible in BI Publisher?
I know there is bursting functionality, but it is applicable to scheduled jobs.
Please could some one help me to figure out if this is possbile in BI Publisher or not.

Multiple Managed servers front-ended by 1 OHS instance

Hi ,
I have 2 different domains having 1 Managed server in each of them , MS1 and MS2 and they are not clustered . Both have the same webcontext app /cs .
Is it possible that both these managed servers can be front-ended by a single OHS instance ?
Please let me know if that is possible and how to achieve the same .
What I have tried is putting the following set of entries in mod_wl_ohs.conf file :

mod_proxy_balancer.so is not OOTB available with OHS 11g ,and when using the mod_proxy module all the requests end up going to the first server listed in the module block. Here is httpd.conf :

Multiple Queries in Workbook - Refresh Screen Shows Up for Every Query

We have multiple queries in a workbook. All of these queries have the exact same selections for the variable selection screen. When all the queries are refreshed once, the selection screen used to show up once and all the queries are refreshed with the same selections.
We were on BI 7.0 and SP10. We recently moved to SP12. Since the SP12 installation, the multiple query refresh pops-up the selection screen for every query. It is nothing like "multiple query refresh" at once since the user has to click "execute" button for every single query. It is interesting to note that the selection screen only contains hierarchy variables and hierarchy node variables. The other variables of selection screen do not show up. I couldn't find any OSS note on this topic. Please let me know if anyone has any comments on this issue. I will assign points to useful posts.

Writing SQL at backend Vs writing in middle/front end layer

Are their any performance differences if we write the simple sql queries at backend Vs front end/middf for populating the list boxes? e.g. select department code, department name from department

All things being equal (i.e. the same query etc), then the query that runs "inside" the database should be a "bit" faster (obviously the definition of "bit" will vary depending on what the query actually does).
I'd also say that keeping code like that inside the database means that it's more maintainable and could well perform a lot better due to making better use of bind variables (i.e. one central place for that query versus X different app servers calling the query in different ways).
It also means that if you decide to move from using product X to product Y to rewrite your front end/middle tier then you don't have to rewrite all of the SQL again (since it's inside the database, where it should be).

Hierarchy authorization pbm in BI7.0 with Front end of BW3.5

We have a problem regarding authorizations for the hierarchies in BW7.0
We have migrated from BW3.1 to BW7.0. Authorization are OK in our BW3.1 server, the authorization on hierrachy work well.
Current Issue (in BI7.0) :
An authorization object for XCOMPROD for a hierarchy 'ZMAT_HIER'.
There are 2 queries which have variables of XCOMPROD & ZCOMPROD in selection criteria, ZCOMPROD has variable of type 'Hierarchy node'
I've a test_user which has authorization on Product Group 5 (one of the nodes in the hierarchy-ZMAT_HIER).
When i run the queries independently with this test_user, the user has access to Group 5 only, which is correct.
When i run a web template report with any one query (from the 2 queries), the user has access to Group 5 (as in first case) - correct.
However when i run a web template report having above 2 queries together, the authorization fails, as user gets access to root node (instead of only Group 5).
FYI, we're using BW3.5 front end (no PORTALS) with the OLD authorization concept (of BW3.1). Not 'Analysis Authorization' as in BI7.0.
Looking forward to an explanation/solution to the above.

Front end issue (how to handle the existing work along with new one)

We have upgraded a copy of our production system and are analyzing different pieces to make sure that we have enough confidence in moving ahead. We are getting a good feel in the back end activities but do have many questions in Front end area, such as
·     What is the best way to handle existing excel reports yet at the same time providing users ability to create new queries and excel reports. Currently users are using Bex browser to access reports but this is no longer supported for new reports.
·     Do we must have portal configured in order to access the new features?
·     Is there a risk if users open the existing workbooks with the help of new analyzer?
·     Is there a risk if users open the existing queries with the help of new query designer?

Until you migrate them to 2004s, you can continue to access the 3.x queries, etc. using the 3.x tools.
However, once you modify/save the 3.x query using the 2004s tools, it will convert that object and all related objects (variables, structures, etc.) to the new 2004s version.
A suggested strategy for conversion of BEx objects to 2004s is to migrate them by infoarea. For example, convert all FI-GL objects together. This method enables BW teams to create a "roadmap" for migration.
