FrontPage/asp - Oracle ???

After investigating how to get MS FrontPage to generate .asp Database | Results ... via either ODBC or OLEDB, that work with Oracle 9.2i, I've come to the conclusion that this is problematical, if even possible.
I noticed that FrontPage will generate .asp, regardless of the default script setting (VB script or Java script).
FrontPage seems to stop short of generating .jsp or really integrating with J2EE etc.
So, I was wondering what, if any, FrontPage substitute is used by Oracle web developers?
... perhaps to draft .jsp, rather than .asp?
thanks - for your insights,
Mike

  • ASP Oracle ODBC Driver..can't connect

I set up the DSN name in Control Panel on my server to go after a database on another server. used the connection tester to see if it would work...it did. So I put in the connection string inside my ASP on the server and I keep getting a can't resolve TNS error message. Why?.....
I'm brand new at this so I may not have the connection string correct. Can someone help?

Reengineering Desktop Thick Workgroups into Web
    Rich Enterprise Clients
Bryan Hall, Spatial Architect, L-3 Communications
Jeff Walawender, Senior Software Engineer, L-3 Communications
Cost cutting requires reengineering spatial solutions to directly address business requirements. But enterprise computing for spatial data has, with even "Web 2.0", required the user to lose the responsiveness and feedback that traditional desktop thick client GIS software has provided. We took a different approach in the re-engineering effort and concentrated on making it work as much like a traditional desktop thick client - while simplifying use, making editing more reliable, and actually speeding up rendering. All this, while only supporting one versioned Oracle Spatial database, and application tier for all users.

    Oracle COM Automation
    ===================
The Oracle COM Automation Feature provides PL/SQL and Java packages that allow stored procedure developers to call COM Automation servers, such as Microsoft Office. These packages expose APIs that allow developers to instantiate COM objects, get and set their properties, and invoke their methods. Developers can call these APIs from PL/SQL and Java subprograms, stored procedures, stored functions, and triggers. With the COM Automation Feature, the Oracle database can be programmed to automatically populate Microsoft Excel spreadsheets or send emails with selected data based on pre-programmed events.

    Hi,
Ok, just to give you a precision. The technology I found on metalink was to use ORDCOM from an old code valid for version 8i, I test it on my own system
Oracle 10.2.0.4 and Ms XP or 2003 server and it works. This is the only note I found to answer my question. That 's why I ask the question :
My question is : How to connect Oracle AQ with MS Queue in this century ;-) ?

  • How can I use PL/SQL in Merosoft VC++ 6.0??

I'm a fresher.Would you tell me how to use PL/SQL in MS VC++6.0? How set erviroment of VC++?
    Thans in advanced!!

I guess that you are refering how to call program units
from VC++6.0 . That is very easy. It depends on what
data access object you are using.
If you are using ADO 2.7 you can call Stored Procedures
    with a COMMAND OBJECT :
    dim obj_com as ADODB.COMMAND

  • Trying to simply connect to Oracle with VBscript/ASP - and I cannot.

This is rather embarrassing. I am pretty fluent with ASP and VBscript, and I have written many a web application connecting to Microsoft SQL Server. Now I have a need to connect to an Oracle database, and I'm beating my head against the wall.
    1) Web server is Windows Server 2003 SP1
    2) Using ASP (not ASP.NET) & VBscript
    3) I have installed the Oracle drivers on the server - it is version 10g
    4) The administrator of the Oracle database to which I want to connect has created a username and password for me to use from within my code
    5) Here is the code I am trying to run:
    Set objConn = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
    objConn.Open "Provider=MSDAORA;Data Source=XXXXXXX;User Id=YYYYYYY;Password=ZZZZZZZ;"
That's it. 2 lines of code just trying to establish a connection. Using the user name and password provided to me by the administrator, and for Data Source I am using the IP address of the Oracle server (like I have done in the past when connecting to SQL Server). I receive the following error message when viewing this in a browser:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle error '80004005'
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
Evidently, the Data Source I am using is not correct, but I was provided no other information from the admin. This is the first time any of us have tried to connect to Oracle using ASP/VBScript, so the administrator isn't sure what I need to do ... any help would be so appreciated.

    Hello,
I got mine to work by setting up an ODBC System DSN and connecting to it. I think this bypasses the Microsoft driver, which might be what's causing the problem.
    Set Db = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
    Db.Open "DSN=TEST;User ID=userid;Password=password;"
Good luck, I've found it requires a lot of persistence...

  • Can't get Microsoft FrontPage to connect to Oracle 9.2i

After considerble discussion in the microsoft.public.frontpage.client newsgroup (subject: "Database | Results ... won't ... through Oracle ODBC"), we had to give up and conclude that there didn't seem to be a straightforward way to connect to Oracle 9.2i via the FrontPage database wizard.
I tried a system Oracle ODBC DSN via MS Access and it worked; but, ` can't get the same DSN to work from FrontPage. From FrontPage it generates a user/password error, though the same user/password works from MS Access.
I tried an OLEDB connection and still received the following:
Server error: Unable to connect to a database from the web server using the
    connection string 'Provider=MSDAORA; PWD=myPwd; UID=Administrator; Data
    Source=glOdb.mikecoughlin.net'.
The following error message comes from the database driver software; it may
appear in a different language depending on how the driver is configured.
    ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle
    Number: -2147217843 (0x80040e4d)
I'm certain that this user/password combination is valid e.g. it works in Enterprise Manager to view tables etc.
    So, my question is:
Does anyone have a/the workaround to use FrontPage to connect to Oracle 9.2i ?
    thanks,

Trying use ODBC driver of Oracle Client, available on this Web Site.

  • Cannot connect to Oracle with ASP

I'm having problems connecting to an Oracle database in ASP. I am using the following code:
    Inc_ConnString = "Provider=OraOLEDB.Oracle;Data Source=my_db;" & _
              "User Id=user_name;Password=password"
    Set DBconn = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
    DBconn.Open Inc_ConnString
I am always getting the following error message:
    ADODB.Connection (0x800A0E7A)
Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed.
However, when I run the Visual Basic sample code, everything works fine.. with the same code. I have downloaded and installed the latests Oracle Provider for OLE DB, Oracle ODBC Drivers, Oracle Objects for OLE from www.oracle.com.. but I am still getting this error message..
    Any pointers?

Give the IWAM_XXXX User full NTFS access rights to your %ORACLE_HOME%, ie. C:\oracle\ora92 and all subdirectories (this is documented in Metalink Doc-ID 258471.995).

  • ASP Crystal Report 2008 (12) Oracle 9 and Visual Basic!

    Hi All,
I'm mainting an old application and I need to simulate the same client environment in my machine.
I have a VB application (with COM+ server components) that's creates a report object with parameters. But the only thing that this application does it's call an ASP page that contains all the logic to call a .rpt file, connect to Oracle 9i and then show the crystal report inside a MS webbrowser component (activeX) in the VB form.
I already setup the IIS, and the site there, I put all the .rpt files in the site and if you try to access without calling from VB you can run the asp pages, but the reports still doesn't appears.
These ASP pages should connect to Oracle and then show the rpt file, but I'm facing the following error:
The url that's the application creates is for example this: http://localhost/application1/createreport.asp?sSessionId=2&ReportName=TransactionsProcessed.rpt&parameter1&parameter2... etc etc...
    Script Error Number: -21471922153
File could not be opened because the library "P2sora7.dll" cannot be found.
User Error Text: An error has ocurred in CreateReport.asp while logging onto the Oracle database server. Please try again.
I already check the database connection and it is working fine using ODBC, and the application works fine with the database.
The file p2sora.dll is in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32, I already copied from another machine, and I have installed Crystal Report 2008 (12) in my server machine with Windows 2003 server, that's the application and web server where report should be run. I know that the old application was executed with Crystal 7, but I cannot found this version to buy.
