Frustrating time with DNS - now NO reverse record

Hi,
Since we've migrated to Snow Leopard Server, it seemed about time to go back to the beginning and get the basics set up in order to move on to trying new services. But, I keep getting stuck at DNS, which seems to be a prerequisite for everything else.
After trying various entries (I have not been clear on what to list as the nameserver), and still having errors in the log, I deleted all records in order to start from scratch. But now, no matter what I put in for the primary zone, it does not automatically generate a reverse entry as it used to. I'm not even getting anything under the expansion triangle for the primary zone. I think I killed it.
How do I get started again, so I can generate new and better errors?

Having public IP is easier. But you need enough public IP addresses to deal with your hosts, and those may or may not be available or affordable. I tried to make it clear we are behind a router and using NAT. I was reading what you were saying as meaning something else: that I could use our LAN addresses or the real (WAN) address of the router.
but, of course, the domain names for the added machines don't really exist out there in the real world's dns servers... dns.crossword.tzo.com, NAMEOFSERVER.crossword.tzo.com, ipaddress.crossword.tzo.com etc;
Do you have a publicly registered domain? tzo.com is registered to some folks here in New England.
we buy (rent) the domain name from them. Obviously it is a subset of another domain name, and I don't know what that means for my purposes. It started out as 'dynamic' support, but we kept it after getting a static ip because it was easier to remember than the number. In other words, it resolves to our router's address. an inquiry to them got the response "you HAVE a fully qualified domain name". If I need to work with them on something, I'd need to know what to ask them for, because it doesn't seem they are ready to be more helpful than that.
We do have our own domain name, but it is already busy pointing to someone else's server.

That's an error. Probably because tzo.com isn't your domain? If you're working with the tzo folks, then you'll want to have tzo serve your domain, or have the tzo folks delegate to your server. (And I'd tend to avoid being delegated here; I'm guessing that you probably want this domain to be entirely private.)

not looking for apple snobs to tell me that i should go back to using other windows oriented devices or to tell me that i didn't follow instructions properly. apple products are made for easy use, and i did the same as i used to with previous OS's.

Replaced Table with Command, now have duplicate records

I'm not sure if there is a problem with my command, or if I'm not doing something correctly within Crystal itself.
I replaced a table with a command. The command is filtering the dataset as I wanted but for some reason I'm getting duplicate records in the report. I tried using the Distinct keyword, but that doesn't seem to help.
Any suggestions?

.. coworker helped me realize the data was actually correct; I was getting the complete dataset as I should with duplicates and just needed to filter out the duplicates by using the grouping function on the unique id. All good now

Heres what i want to do: I want to run mailserver, webserver,dhcp, firewall and router on the leopard server.
I have a dsl modem (static ip ) connected to the server on ethernet and a lan that is connected trough the server to internet. That works ok. I can also reach my webserver both from inside and outside as of today. Mail seems to work from both sides too. Here comes the trouble:-)
I have two additional servers that needs to be reached from both lan and web on my lan.
all my services has correct dns resolves from the net.. They are as follows:
www.thure-trykk.no ->212.125.243.131 -> (website on the leopard server at 192.168.1.1)
mail.thure-trykk.no ->212.125.243.132 -> (mailserver on the leopard server at 192.168.1.1)
www.iway.thure-trykk.no ->212.125.243.134 -> (second webserver at lan 192.168.1.2)
www.godkjenning.thure-trykk.no -> 212.125.243.135 -> (third webserver at lan 192.168.1.3)
all of these needs to be reached from lan and wan by hostnames

Just upgraded my 2014 iMac to yosemite. Now my Bose sound link won't work. The bluetooth is connected and it beeps as normal, just no sound comes from the speaker. This is very frustrating (along with the now flat rather than 3D icons on the desktop)

I have now recently downloaded 10.0.2 which is confusing in itself, as, as far as I can ascertain that is actually version 11, but I'm not even sure about that.
Version 10.0.2 is the newest version and the successor to GarageBand '11 (version 6.0.5).
The '11 is referring to the iLife '11 suit of multimedia application - the older GarageBand was a part of this bundle.

When I recorded a vocal track 3 hours ago, it recorded perfectly. The syncing was perfectly in time with the rest of the song. I just came back to start working on it again, and it's completely off beat. What gives?

Also, I'd forgotten about this problem until just now, when I extend a loop (for instance, to play 2x instead of just one) it plays a phantom 3rd time. What I mean by this, is there's no track to tell garage band to play it a 3rd time, but it does anyway. If I copy paste the loop, it doesn't do it. I've got no idea what to do with this one. I'd really appreciate a quick response as I'm in the middle of a recording project :/

this may happen, if you accidentally turn on Auto Quantize for the track in the track editor, also "follow tempo and pitch" may cause it. Have you checked the settings?
As to your strange loop: is it a software instrument loop or a real instrument loop you are talking about?
If it is a software instrument loop you can look at it in the track editor and delete any extra beats that are revealed by looping. That sometimes happens if there are long notes at the end of the loop.

How do I send SMS only at ALL TIMES with an iPhone to ALL contacts? iOS 8 now forces all Apple users to use iMessage all the time with all other iOS users. The option to send as SMS only is subordinate to iMessage in iOS 8 settings and CANNOT be turned off to send only SMS texts to another iOS device! This is a serious privacy issue for all households using iOS and doing family sharing, including over a number of iOS devices, under one member's Apple ID. Why should business conversations or financial conversations between parents be readable on an iPad in the hands of a teenager or a seven year old? The answer is not as simple as "Just don't enable iMessage on your other devices," because amy family that shares the Apple ID password is vulnerable to teenagers particularly hacking into iMessage to monitor, for example, what their parents are saying. If I were Samsung or Google I would hammer this issue immediately and continually until it is fixed by Apple (and I'm not sure why they haven't yet). iMessage is a convenience but it has this serious limitation given the architecture of the Apple universe. Apple simply cannot force all its users to conduct text messaging in arbitrarily limited way, any more than it was able to force all its users to switch from Google Maps. When will Apple fix this?

See if working on the main disk is any faster.
USB2 is glacial, as I/O interconnects go. And USB2 disks have been known to fail, or sometimes to drop back to USB1 speeds, too. FireWire 800 is substantially faster than USB2, but still not as fast as the internal drive connections can provide.
Put another way, start varying your configuration, and see which configuration changes (still) have the problem, and which don't.

I just got an Ipod Classic recently and downloaded Itunes. Got my music on my Ipod. My husband just got an Ipod Touch. I followed the directions on how to create a 2nd library and was able to load his music onto his Ipod. My problem is now I can not find my original library. I did what the directions said about holding down the shift key while opening Itunes and it still goes to the 2nd library that I created. How do i get my original library to come up? Does the original library file still exist on the computer? Hopefully when creating the new library it was done in a seperate folder as I do not believe iTunes allows for two library files in the same location.

I found an article from Apple that specifically outlines how to try and troubleshoot this issue. It's called iPhone: Troubleshooting activation issues found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3424.
Resolution
Perform the following steps if you receive one of the messages above:
Restart the iPhone.
Try another means of reaching the activation server and attempt to activate.
Try connecting to Wi-Fi if you're unable to activate using a cellular data connection.
Try connecting to iTunes if you're unable to activate using Wi-Fi.
Restore the iPhone.
If you receive an alert message when you attempt to activate your iPhone, try to place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you're still unable to complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Applefor assistance.

=IF(I127,NOW()," ")
I127 equals a check box. The formula retuns a value of the current date and time when a check is placed in the box. How does one lock that date and time so that it cannot be changed?

I don't think it is possible to lock in the date and time using a formula. You could put NOW() in a cell, copy, and Edit Paste Formula Results where you want the result.
Or if you are "time stamping" a lot, you may find this Automator Service (Dropbox download) helpful. It puts a "Today" function (actually it should be named "Now" because it includes both date and time) in your Services menu like this:
Just doubleclick the .workflow package to install it. You may have to click "download anyway" in System Preferences > Privacy & Security.
