FTP access not working

The server has FTP running (green light is on). However, the Log (Library/Logs/FTP.transfer.log) remains empty in Server Admin.
Connecting to the server with SFTP (e.g., Fugu or WinSCP) is not working.
Fugu returns the error 'Permission denied (publickey,gssapi-keyex,gssapi-with-mic,keyboard-interactive).' Also, I cannot create a tunnel.
WinSCP returns the error 'No supported authentication methods available'. How the tunnel works in WinSCP is unclear to me.
Could it be a firewall problem? Which port does SFTP use? In Server Admin I can only see an SFTP port 115, but that is called 'Simple File Transfer Protocol'. Currently 20-21-22 are open.

Does that mean I can turn ftp off and turn off ports 20-21in the firewall without prejudicing my chances to establish an sftp/ssh connection?
ssh -vvv [email protected] may provide better diagnostics, but to me as a newbie it's unfortunately difficult to understand. Apparently there is a connection established, but authentication fails. This is the relevant second half of the message, with what I hope are the relevant details:

FTP sharing not working

Hello folks!
I am using OS 10.4.11, with an AirPort Express (v 6.3). I am connected to the Internet via cable modem. I am trying to share files with a friend of mine who lives in different country. We figured using FTP would be handy, but in spite of the fact that I have done everything I can think of that would be necessary, it just doesn't work. When he tries to connect to me, he gets no response from my machine and the connection times out.
I have:
(1) Turned ON FTP Sharing in the System Preferences>Sharing>Services.
(2) Verified that the Firewall is turned OFF in System Preferences>Sharing>Firewall.
(3) In the AirPort Utility (5.2.1), Internet>NAT panel, checked 'Enable NAT Port Mapping Protocol'
(4) In the AirPort Utility, under Advanced>Port Mapping, set up port forwarding for ports 20 & 21.
(5) Clicked 'Update' to reload the AirPort configuration and restart it.
(6) Created a new account for my friend to use in System Preferences>Accounts
(7) Looked up my IP address with http://whatismyip.com/ .
When he tries to connect to that IP address (the software appends the ':21' to the end of the IP address), it does nothing except time out eventually with this error: "Network Error: Connection Failed. Operation timed out." The same thing happens with an anonymous login attempt.
Note that I also have tried this with item 3 above not checked (NAT Port Mapping Protocol), in case that were to make a difference. It didn't.
Something strange that I noticed is that in in System Preferences>Sharing>Firewall, despite the fact that the Firewall is turned OFF, in the scrolling list of allowed services, "Personal File Sharing," "FTP Access," and "Printer Sharing" are checked, but greyed out. However, other services that I use (and work properly) are checked in solid and have blue checkboxes: "iChat Bonjour," "iTunes Music Sharing," "Network Time," "Transmission," "Limewire," "Gnutella."
I went to http://probe.hackerwatch.org/ and did a port scan, and it came back saying that my port 21 was "completely invisible to the outside world" and secure.
Can anyone tell me what I might have overlooked or done incorrectly?

Ah! Okay.
I verified that indeed, that was {i]a problem. All the port forwarding was set to go to 10.0.1.201:nnnn, and my computer was working from 10.0.1.2!
I did the following to fix that:
I went in to System Preferences>Network, "AirPort" was selected, and I clicked "Configure."
On the resulting pane, I selected the "TCP/IP" tab, set "Configure IPv4" to "Manually" (in the pull-down menu). Then I configured "IP address" to be 10.0.1.201 (the range is 10.0.1.2 to 10.0.1.200), the "Subnet Mask" to be 255.255.255.0, and the DNS servers to two internal numbers that were in the AirPort configuration.
I clicked apply, and that worked. Just to be sure, I restarted the computer and the AirPort, even though I believe this isn't necessary.
In any case, it took and nothing appears to be broken, BUT...
When I try to connect with FTP to the IP address I get from http://whatismyip.com/ it times out without being able to connect!

ASM+FTP+mget * Not working

My requirement is keep daily RMAN complete backup set to central repository server. This server is far away from the local premise and need to use for only disaster scenario.
I am running ORACLE RAC database with ASM File system
I configured the FTP on specific port for ASM file system. so i can ftp the daily backup to central repository server
For this i configured the script in central repository server with get command.
Now the problem is "FTP MGET * " is not working.
Question- How can i get rid of this issue???

As you talked about moving your RAC backups to another server via FTP, if i may ask are you using FLASH RECOVERY area for all your backups and if yes then are you using ASM diskgroups for your Flash Recovery Area. Because if it is ASM diskgroups where you have stored your RMAN backups then for accessing ASM diskgroups via FTP you need to set it up as following :

PI 7.30: OS command on AIX to archive files on FTP does not work

Dear experts,
Our PI system runs on an AIX server.
I have a scenario PI --> FTP. I also need to archive files in a seperate folder on the FTP.
I have been following thread:
Read or Write File On FTP server based on another file existence.
After file processing in the Audit Log in RWB I among others I get the information:
Execute OS command "sh /usr/sap/SYS/flex/batches/archive.sh file.zip /ftpfolder/file.zip"
It seems it is working properly.
The file itself gets processed to the "ftpfolder". But in the archive folder I do not get a copy of that file.
My script looks like this:

open ftpserver
user myuser mypassword

cd archivefolder
mput $2

%%EOF%%
In the file receiver I have "Run OS command after message processing":
"sh /usr/sap/SYS/flex/batches/archive.sh %f %F"
%F stands for the complete path, right? So if I say "mput $2" in my script it should use %F.
Could you please help me out here. I really don't know what the problem could be.

FTP service not working anymore. ??

We have successfully been using ftp service with a new XServe 2 (Base Station 802.11n as gateway) for about a month. But, possibly following the latest firmware update that was run on the base station a few weeks ago, the ftp service just stopped working.
FTP works within the network if I connect via Cyberduck using the internal server address. But, to connect from the outside using the IP that is offered from within Base Station—the way we've done this successfully for a whole month—Cyberduck will spin and spin and never even see the network much less attempt to authenticate. Crazy.
• I have done a hard reset on Base Station. No change.
• I have unplugged and reset cable modem multiple times. No change.
• The ISP has confirmed that ports 20 and 21 are still open. Nothing unusual from their end.
• I've used ServerAdmin multiple times to stop & start ftp service, restart server, etc. No effect.
• Here's a curious detail: from the server I can go to whatismyipaddress.com, and it correctly sees the Base-Station-issued IP that I am trying to connect via ftp from the outside. Hmm.
Any experience from someone who can help isolate this issue? I'll admit, it appears to be a Base Station issue (maybe. likely.) since I can connect ftp from within the network. And, I am about 60-70% certain the latest firmware update was run near the time it spontaneously stopped working. But, ftp had been working. Not sure what is different now or why resetting things is not fixing anything.

Yeah im able to connecto to my account no problem. Its that everytime I try to log in to my email on my N8, it keeps saying it could not connect. I just dont understand what this has happened, I never had such problem before.

Mail yahoo pop access not working.

This has been going on for 2 days now. Re set up my account in mail but nothing just the ! next to the mailbox. Anyone else having problems?

Sending an email is something totally different again - you can send yourself or anyone else an email to any email address.
You can also send or forward any email while on your Yahoo account to yourself or anyone else.
Setting up Yahoo to automatically forward emails to your home email address is something else. Here is an excerpt from Yahoo Help:
+The ability to access Yahoo! Mail using an email reader program such as Outlook, Eudora, or Thunderbird is only available to customers of our premium Yahoo! Mail Plus service. To determine whether you have purchased this service, please visit the My Services page.+

I have no idea why it might have worked for you previously, but according to Yahoo, it cannot be done unless you pay for the service.
So, unless I've totally misunderstood what you are trying to say, I do not have a different answer and it does not have anything to do with your Mac or OS.

Expression using Map access not working....

I am attempting to use the ability to access a Map by key from a binding expression on the jsp. I have extended HashMap and overridden the get method in order to return a Boolean from the get(key) method.
This works:
rendered="#{bean.enabledFunctionSecurityMap['key1']}"
it ends up calling the bean.getEnableFunctionSecurityMap().get("key1");
This should work also but doesn't:
rendered="#{bean.enabledFunctionSecurityMap['key1'] or bean.enabledFunctionSecurityMap['key2']}"
Any reason why a single Boolean returned from a Map would work fine, but a more complex statement with 2 Booleans will not work. Doing a statement like this just accessing multiple boolean getter functions on a bean works, how come access muiltiple Map returns does not?

All righty then, I solved my own problem.
There were actually 2 issues.
1. I could so far only get this to work if the Overridden Map Object is registered as a manged-bean itself.
2. I was testing to see if it worked by using System.out.println methods in my overridden get() method. Appearantly the JSF EL is smarter than I am. If you have #{binding1 or binding2} and binding1 evaluates to True, binding2 is never evaluated. The expression is short circuited and returns true... DUH....
So this expression fires both bindings....
rendered="#{enabled['key1'] and not enabled['key2']}"
Where enabled is...
<managed-bean>
<managed-bean-name>enabled</managed-bean-name>
<managed-bean-class>security.EnabledFunctionSecurityMap</managed-bean-class>
<managed-bean-scope>session</managed-bean-scope>
</managed-bean>
Next step will be to try and figure out how to get this to work where the EnabledFunctionSecurityMap is on another bean.

IOS 8.02 guided access not working for Ipad 2

Will the next update for iOS 8 fix the issue for guides access for Ipad 2? Issue; function not working at all. And when will this update come?
We have now tried everything we can think of. Reset settings, totale factory reset etc. This doen both on the Ipad and thorugh iTunes.
For us the Ipad got useless with iOS 8 as we us it as a visitor kiosk using the app SIGN IN. We really regret updating.... please fix asap

I can confirm that this works on 3rd Generation iPads. But not 2nd Generation iPads. I have found that if Guided access was enabled prior to the upgrade it might reset in this process.
Turn off Guided Access in Accessibility / Settings.
Hard reboot. (Hold Home and Lock buttons for 7 seconds)
Turn on Guided Access in Accessibility / Settings. Reset Passcode.

Dreamweaver CS5 ftp does not work after my host server was updated

I'm on an iMac running Mavericks.
I'm using Dreamweaver CS 5.5 from the creative suite.
Suddenly the FTP function in Dreamweaver does not work.
My website host stated that they were forced to upgrade their server software for FTP and the Dreamweaver was not compatible.
Will there be an upgrade soon to resolve the problem? I'm having to use Filezilla to upload/download files from my site and it's a real pain compared to just using Dreamweaver.

DWCS5.5 hasn't received an update in years and is no longer supported by Adobe. The chances of there being an update for any new compatibility issue is pretty much slim to none.
If (and it's a big if) your hosting company actually did something that made DW itself incompatible with the server, you would just have to use some other FTP program, like the free Filezilla client, to do your uploads.
Not a big deal, just a small extra step.

10.8 Server - AFP Guest access not working

Hi Folks
I have a brand new Mac Mini server running the latest 10.8.4 and Server.app from the app store (10.8 / v2 / whatever it's called these days). I have everything up and running perfectly except that no matter what I do when users connect via AFP there is no option for them to connect as guest. It literally just does not even show up in the login dialog.
I have several AFP share points setup to allow guest access, I have enabled the option in System Prefs->Users and Groups->Guest User->Allow guests to connect to shared folders. I have even also enabled it via command line tool; serveradmin settings afp:guestAccess = yes
But no matter what I do any machines connecting (either via browsing to the server via finder and connecting or directly from "Connect to server" using the afp:// URI approach) the login dialog doesn't give us the option to select to connect as guest -- it's just not there at all in the dialog box.
This is fairly urgent, a few more days and this server needs to go into production at our school here and this is essential for the way we need to do things. A little more background information: we are bound to both a local OD setup and a campus wide AD setup (not sure if any of this matters or not).

And I guess toggling File Sharing on and off about a dozen times it seems to have finally picked up and is allowing guest access to work :/ Answer my own question!

Timed Access not working on new Airport Extreme (802.11n).

I bought a new Airport Extreme (802.11n) to use as a router for my network. The network has a mixture of Macs and PCs, using a mixture of wired and wireless connections.
I configured the security settings with on the Airport Extreme to Timed Access. I set the default setting is to No Access.
Three computers are set with "Everyday, Between 8:00am and 11:00pm"; however, when it's 11:00pm, nothing happens. The three computers continue to have access.
I know the MAC addresses I entered are correct. Does anyone know why the Timed Access is not working?

Yes, the printer was initially set the same way it always was on my old router. It used to pop right up on the list. After I switched I was getting communication errors. Ok, new setup, I wasn't worried yet. When I got to the setup window and it a new printer wasn't found I tried updating drivers. No luck. I then used the IPP mode to enter the IP address with the address on the Canon screen. It failed. I then did the same setup telling it which software from the driver list to use. It still could not see it. The odd part is that the Canon can obviously see the router as its LAN setting read active and it is receiving the IP. I have proceeded to play with every setting on the printer and it is back to factory reset. Oh, I should mention that I have also tried to use Canons network setup utility software and it can not find the connection either. So I really think this is a problem within the router. I have seen many complaints about this on other forums, but most were looking to use the usb on the print server. My Airport is nowhere near my printer and I don't want to lose my all-in-one functions. Some think hard lined ethernet is ancient, but it really is a nice setup. Fast and reliable.

Anonymous Access Not Working on 3 Lists (Slideshow provided in link)

There are three lists that have anonymous access settings configured.
The anonymous access settings however do not work for some reason. I need to know how to make them show up AGAIN.
The SharePoint administrator before me had all the lists working properly with anonymous access.
I, unfortunately, inherited permissions from parent on all lists and sites, and somehow broke the anonymous permissions. They don't work anymore.
Please see the slideshow to view what I am looking at. This will show all pages and their respective permissions per page.
Anonymous access permissions stopped working on all three lists when I disabled them. When I tried to enable them again, I assumed they would work easily, but they do not.
You will be viewing what I see as a site collection administrator. When I try to view in incognito with these settings it doesn't work.

Music quick access not working

Apologies if this has been raised before, I had a quick look and couldn't find it.
I have an iPhone 4s and updated (begrudgingly) to IOS6 at the weekend.
I frequently use my iPhone at work for music. From standby I normally double press the home button and it brings up the play/pause menu for my music, from there I can control the current playlist. This still comes up but doesn't work anymore. Similarly if I'm in the quick access menu at the bottom of my phone and scroll left I get access to the music controls, but again these are not working. The only way to play/pause my music is from within the music app.
Does anyone know if this is a known issue with IOS6 or something I should investigate further?

I found a solution by accident, my phone battery died, when I charged it and turned it back on the quick access suddenly worked. The issue reoccurs every now and then, usually when I've rebooted my phone for whatever reason but another reboot always fixes it.
