FTP Adapter restrict polling frequency active time frame in a day

Hi All,
Is there anyway I can restrict FTP adapter polling frequency to be active during a particular time frame of the day. Say, my service should poll the incoming location for Sales order data for every hour during business hours of the day.
Thanks,
AG

Hi
SOA Suite 12c will expose Oracle ESS as the scheduler.
ESS will allow you to schedule soa composites / OSB services etcand allow you to enable / disable them based on jobs, which is what you desire.
12c SOA Suite is expected later this Summer.
Cheers

    I have a bpel process activated by a file in a FTP dropzone. An FTP Adapter listens to this dropzone. I have set up a few preferences (Deployment descriptors) for this process. Once when I update any of these user defined preferences, ftp adapter stops polling the dropzone.
    Any idea why this happens?

  • FTP Adapter not polling

    Hi,
    We have a clustered environment in Oracle SOA 10.1.3.4 MLR#1. We are setting up 3 different bpel processes polling 3 different locations and using 3 different data source. When we deploy them none of the ftp polling is working. We looked at various blog and added property for ClusterId
    <property name="clusterGroupId">myBpelAdapterCluster</property>
    I also tried using a different clustergroupid for each of the bpel process.
    Does this clusterGroupId should be different for each BPEL process or can we use myBpelAdapterCluster for all 3. Please suggest me what may be the cause for the ftp adapter not polling.
    Thanks

  • FTP Adapter to poll multiple files (different formats)

    Hi,
    We have a requirement to poll and process multiple files from a given FTP location(either process all or reject all - reject if there is any failure in one of the files).
    Using FTP Adapter's Get File operation(Schema Opaque), we are able to read three different file formats and can get the file name(Using header variable FileName).
    And we are hoping to process the file contents based on the File Name that we get from the above step.
    1) How do we convert the file contents from Opaque to specific Schema (ex: file1.csv, file2.csv and file3.csv with different formats)?
    2) As the requirement is to process all the files at the same time, Can we use correlation in the poller process to route to single controller process(One instance of Controller process for all the files)?
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks...

    Thanks a lot for the quick answers.
    I've used the Java embed to convert Base64 content to String. And using 'translateFromNative' extension, I could convert it to the desired XML content.
    But I still have trouble in polling and processing all the files(file1.csv, file2.csv and file3.csv) at the same time using a single controller process.
    My requirement is to process all the three files at the same time(for any failures I have to compensate any/all of inserted records).
    I tried using Pick(with different OnMessage branches), but as they are polling the same location I could see only one OnMessage branch is getting fired resulting in multiple instances.
    May be I didn't understand your suggestion correctly, could you please elaborate on the possibility of processing multiple files at the same time?
    Thanks

  • PI 7.1 File & JMS Adapter stops polling at random times

    Hi All,
    IN PI 7.1, at random times, the File Adapter stops polling. But status is green in RWB.
    It starts working after the restart of File Service.
    Any idea why this happens? (We don't use FTP Protocol)

    Yes Ravi. We recently migrated to PI 7.1 from PI 7.0.
    We dont use AAE.
    We are on Support Pack 7.
    "Adapter Framework is changed in handling threads on the backend in SAP PI 7.1"
    what impact it might have on the File Polling?

    Hi,
    Follow this..
    1. Go to Runtime Workbench -> Component Monitoring -> Communication Channel Monitoring
    2. Locate the link Availability Time Planning on the top right corner of your Communication Channel Monitoring page.
    3. In Availability Time Planning, choose the Availability time as daily and say create.
    4. Provide the details like the time 1o:00
    5. Select the communication channel, go to the Communication Channels tab and filter and add the respective channel (File Sender).
    6. Once all the above has been done 'Save' the changes.

  • FTP Adapter File Polling does not raise error when FTP server is down

    Hi All,
    Thanks in advance.
    I am polling for new files in a FTP Server. However, if the server is down there is no way for me to catch the fault to notify someone. I am using fault-policies but that never gets triggered when polling an unavailable FTP Server.
    One option is to have a completely separate scheduled process (SOA or not) that tries to connect to the servers but I am trying not to go that route just to keep things manageable and within the realm of the process.
    I am sure that I am not the only one polling for new files in a FTP Server, so I thought to pick your brain to tackle this scenario.
    Thanks for taking the time to read this.

  • File Polling is not working in FTP adapter

    Experts,
    Configured FTP adapter should poll the file from the FTP server which is in active mode .But this is not happening as expected. This feature was not available in Oracle soa 10g
    http://download.oracle.com/technology/tech/soa/soa_best_practices_1013x_drop3.pdf
    they say :
    Does the FTP Adapter Support the ACTIVE Mode of Connections?
    No, for security concerns the FTP adapter supports PASV (passive) only.
    Do they have not change this feature in Oracle soa 11g.
    Your thoughts will be very much appreciated.
    Thanks

    I doubt if the ftp path is not given correctly. Can you try this.
    1. if you gave logical_file_path try giving the actual file path or vice versa and try.
    2. having the highest level of logging enabled (development). You should see some error in the logs. Is this on linux or windows, if linux search is case sensitive
    hence search for 'rror' without 'e' as you donot know the case it would be in.
    3. last option try retiring the process and then turn it on. This works sometimes to pick the file

  • FTP Adapter polling lowercase or uppercase files using single adapter

    Hello All,
    I was wondering if we can use a single FTP Adapter to poll Lowercase or Uppercase files. For example either abc*.txt or ABC*.txt.
    Does the FTP adapter by default support this option, because its not working in my Case and if its supported does it depend on the FTP server settings/security.
    Help is much appreciated.
    Thanks

    sometimes it picks up all old files from FTP directoryIf it is picking up the same files, probably it is not being able to calculate the modification dates.
    That can be a configuration problem, take a look at this:

  • 10.1.3.4 - FTP adapter polling multiple servers

    Is it possible to get files from multiple servers for a given BPEL or ESB service ? My source application writes to its local file systems in the exact same location, but 2 different servers. Is there anyway we can instruct the FTP adapter to poll both the servers ? or do we have to duplicate the call to poll the 2nd server ?

    Don't think so. We have solved it by having one esb ftp-adapter to each server and route them together in the same routing service.

    Hi,
    We are using FTP adapter to poll a file from FTP server. We neither have an option to delete or archive files from that FTP remote server hence we are using "FileModificationTime" option. When we use this option, polling adapter errors out with ---

    The FTP server you're connecting to does not understnad the MDTM command the FTP adapter is configured to use in order to obtain the files date/time:
    <2010-04-01 16:21:53,078> <DEBUG> <default.collaxa.cube.activation> <File Adapter::Inbound> FTP Command: MDTM, reply:

    Try using one of the other File Modification Time options in the FTP Adapter wizard such as Directory Listing or File Name Substring

  • FTP Adapter in SOA10.1.3.4.0 MLR4 doesn't work and no errors either

    Hi All:
    First my env summary:
    I have install SOA10.1.3.4.0 (with MLR4) on my laptop (Windows XP). Also I have install Filezilla Server on same laptop.
    In Fillezilla, I have configured a ftp location to "F:\MyFTPServer" directory. F drive is a local drive on my laptop. Also I have created a user called "soa" with password "soa" to be able to access this FTP server.
    Under F:\MyFTPServer directory, I have 3 sub folders:
    In -- to get file
    Out -- to drop the file
    Archive -- to archive the file after get and drop
    I have successfully accessed this ftp server from other computer using either MS-DOS FTP command or FTP software (e.g. WinSCP) as user "soa". I am able to drop file to "In" dirrectory and get file from "Out" directory.
    Above confirms my FTP server is ready to be used.
    Next, in SOA 10.1.3.4.0 AS console, I have create a new Connection Factory called "*eis/Ftp/myFtpServer*" (there is a seeded one called eis/Ftp/FtpAdapter and I didn't touch/configure it).
    the following is the settings for eis/Ftp/myFtpServer
    host: my laptop computer name
    port: 21
    ftpAbsolutePathBegin: /
    ftpPathSeparator: /
    listParserKey: WIN
    username: soa
    password: soa
    serverType: win
    for the rest settings, I leave as default.
    Then, I create a simple BPEL process with following components:
    One FTP Adapter called "MyFTP" with following parameters:
    <jca:operation
    FileType="ascii"
    PhysicalDirectory="In"
    ActivationSpec="oracle.tip.adapter.ftp.inbound.FTPActivationSpec"
    PhysicalArchiveDirectory="Archive"
    DeleteFile="true"
    IncludeFiles=".*\.csv"
    PollingFrequency="60"
    MinimumAge="60"
    FileModificationTime="FileSystem"
    ModificationTimeFormat="4,18,yyyyMMddHHmmSS"
    OpaqueSchema="false"
    </jca:operation>
    <service name="MyFTP">
    <port name="GetFile_pt" binding="tns:GetFile_binding">
    <jca:address location="*eis/Ftp/myFtpServer*" UIincludeWildcard="*.csv" />
    </port>
    </service>
    I create one Receive activity to get file from "MyFTP" FTP Adapter.
    Using above setting, my intention is to poll any file (*.csv) from F:\MyFTPServer\In directory and receive it into my receive activity.
    I deployed my project to SOA application server and stop/restart my SOA application once.
    Now, the real stuff begins:
    I dropped 2 simple, very small (size < 1KB) files called sample.csv and sample2.csv to F:\MyFTPServer\In diretory.
    In my domain.log file, I can see my BPEL process is starting polling every 1 minute without any error:
    <2010-09-16 15:29:25,015> <INFO> <default.collaxa.cube.activation> <File Adapter::Inbound> Managed Connection Created
    <2010-09-16 15:29:25,015> <INFO> <default.collaxa.cube.activation> <File Adapter::Inbound> Connection Created
    <2010-09-16 15:30:25,016> <INFO> <default.collaxa.cube.activation> <File Adapter::Inbound> Managed Connection Created
    <2010-09-16 15:30:25,016> <INFO> <default.collaxa.cube.activation> <File Adapter::Inbound> Connection Created
    Meanwhile, I am observing Filezilla server log and it clearly said every one minute (the timestamp match to bpel domain.log 100%), user "soa" login to this FTP server and list both files (sample.csv and sample2.csv) in "In" directory. Then it quits.
    However, I don't see any BPEL instance is created (In my BPEL project, I have cheched "Create Instance" when create my receive activity). And both files are still there in "In" folder. Per my configuration of "MyFTP" FTP adapter, the file should be deleted after it is polled successfully (*DeleteFile*="true")

    I am bit of confused. In my case, there is no any error anywhere; however, FTP Adapter in my bpel project doesn't poll file either. It does login to FTP server every one minute; did a list command; then quit.
    You may suggest I change the following 2 settings in my bpel project:
    FileModificationTime="FileSystem"
    ModificationTimeFormat="4,18,yyyyMMddHHmmSS"
    however, I think they are set correctly, because it match to MDTM command result in my Filezilla server log (see above and below). The modificaiton time format starts at position 4 and ends with position 18 with correct mask

    Can anyone offer me some help? I am desperately want make this work so that I can show this example to others here.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Urgent ! BPEL file and ftp adapter problem.

    Hi All!
    I have created a bpel process having two partner links.One for the ftp adapter and one for the file adapter. I want the ftp adapter to poll the *.pdf files in the specified directory on the remote machine periodically and get them to my local machine here. For this I am using ftp adapter with read operation and with opaque schemas(because I want the files as they are without any transformation). I am using a receive activity with the ftp adapter, with the create instance box checked.
    To write the file to the local machine I am using file adapter and write operation.File adapter also uses opaque schema.With this file adapter I am using invoke activity.Invoke is below the receive activity in the bpel process. I deployed this successfully on the default domain. I want the bpel process to run automatically,depending on the polling frequency given and create instances and bring the files to my machine.
    But it is not happening.
    Can anybody tell me where I am going wrong.How to accomplish this? It is very urgent issue for me.
    Thanking in advance,
    Regards,
    Deepika.

    Hi All!
    Now I am able to write files and also read files successfully with the remote server. I followed the same method described above.I am using binary format itself for pdf files.But I have to check the option 'to delete files after successful retrieval' to make this happen.I created several partnerlinks with the option in the ftp adapter not checked,but it is not working. Has anybody done successful retrieval without deleting the files at the remote server? If so please let me know.
    Thanking in advance,
    Regards,
    Deepika.

  • FTP Adapter Configuration For End Of File

    Hi Team,
    i'm doing DB polling and writing that contents to on file using FTP Adapter, DB poller will poll each line @ a time and writes to remote Server
    in my FTP adapter usage, after writing the whole contents which i pass from my bpel,
    i need to use some hardcoded values at the end of the file
    Eg.
    test1|test2|test3|test4
    test1|test2|test3|test4
    test1|test2|test3|test4
    test1|test2|test3|test4
    @@Thanks@@
    Like shown above after writing some contents
    i need to add @@Thanks@@ then one ENTER
    Thanks in advance

    Ok, now I'm understanding you are using "Append existing file" option checked... The approach won't work with appending on...
    If you know when it is the end of the file you can do something like this...
    At the first line file will be like this...
    line1|line1
    Second line...
    line1|line1
    line2|line2
    When you receive the third line and you know that's the last line you write firstly this...
    line1|line1
    line2|line2
    line3|line3
    And then you write the @@Thanks@@ at the end using a different translation schema... Possibly a different FTP Adapter writing on the same file...
    line1|line1
    line2|line2
    line3|line3
    @@Thanks@@
    However, if you don't know when you are receiving the last line and/or you need the @@Thanks@@ always there it won't work with append option... You'll possibly need a sync read FTP adapter to read the file and rewrite it again at every iteration...
    Cheers,
    Vlad
