Full battery dies after 30mns, 1 hour later appears full again...?

I have my ipod strapped to my arm when i go biking.
After approx 30 mns it runs out of power, and i am unable to restart it.
When i get back home, i can turn it on again after abt 30mns/1hr, and battery is shown as full.
It then keeps playing for hours (i.e; like it would with a full battery)
The only reasonable answer i could think of is that this due to temperature,
meaning the battery goes cold & thus no longer fuctions.
However at the moment it's around 18°c outside so this hardly can be the problem....?
I'm baffled...

Apple has a Battery replacement program, for just $59 (shipping additional $6.95)
But hopefully you have tried the Hard Reset,  as below
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple Logo comes ON
Then release the buttons
Select your preferred language.
Here is the Apple support Article on the 5Rs

Yesterday, One guy, did a Hard Reset, and it solved his Problem of not able to play 2 songs on the iPod, after a few days of suggestions and troubleshooting

  • My iphone 4s battery dies after a few hours after upgrading the software

My iphone battery dies after approximately 4 hours (with no use) after I upgraded to ios6 and, the phone heats up. This has been going on for about a month now and I've tried everything. Unfortunately, employees at the Apple store flat out refused to help noting, 'oh, just try restarting it, ios 6 doesn't have any flaws' (I've tried multiple times). Needless to say, 4 hours is not enough to warrant keeping a phone so if anyone has any (free) ideas, I would appreciate them greately. Thank you.

Any ideas on what I can do?

  • My battery dies after a few hours regardless of how long I charge it?

I remember reading that the ipod nano battery lasts a good six hours at least if fully charged. Mine lasts dramatically shorter, like around two or three, sometimes less. I've had the ipod for maybe a year and a half, and it's a 16gig nano 4th generation.

Have you tried basics from the manual?
    Restart.
    Reset.
    Restore.

    Try a SMC reset:

If this is an original battery, even with a low cycle count, it is old and probably should be replaced.

  • IPod Nano battery dies after 2 days in Sleep

My iPod Nano is about 2 years old and is working great for the most part. When fully charged, I can listen to music for 6-8 hours before the battery dies. But, if the iPod is fully charged and not connected to my computer and put in sleep mode, the battery is fully depleted after about 1-2 days. Is this normal? I know that even in sleep mode, the iPod will draw some power from the battery, but I thought it would stay charged for longer than it is. Any suggestions?
I have checked that it is not getting awakened by any alarms. Do I need a new $59 battery?
    Thanks.

I agree with you on the wallsocket charging thing, it's a must have, really. The case is a different thing.
People would get stuck with a generic case, and not have one they liked. Now, you can buy whatever color/shape you want, without hassle.
The reason I got a white one: the earplhones, the radioremote and all other things are white. If black ones were included/available, I'd have gotten a black one.
Oh, and I have mine 1.5 months now, and am as happy as a clam. I used to have a portable CDplayer with MP3 capabilities, but it was HUGE. This fits in my shirt pocket, doesn't have any moving parts (no skipping when running), and is just about as cool as it can get.

  • Battery died, wont hold a charge, just died.  Fully charged battery dies in approx 2 hours.  Is it battery gone bad. Or something causing battery to use excessive amount of energy.  Do you lose data if battery goes out?

Battery died, wont hold a charge.  After fully charging battery, battery loses all power in 2 hours. Is this indicative of a battery gone bad or something else?  Will I lose data if battery completely dies?

    Hi, thanks for the reply.
Yes I have done the reset-didn't work.
Yeh, the calibration was done so the phone turned off, then plugged back in to charge back to 100%!
The iphone4s was connected to the charger outlet, the second I unplugged the phone the battery percentage went from 100% to 98%.
AS we speak my phone is now on 100%, after 10 mins usage and 33 minutes standby. This just doesn't correlate with the decrease in battery life associated with every other number (e.g 99,98,97%) apart from when it is on 100%.

  • Battery drained after a few hours

it was at 100% at 7 am and by noon down to 10%. I made one 10 minute call and some google use

That article I found didn't really apply, but I did google that error and there were quite a few people having this problem after plugging in a myriad of devices. From digital cameras to iPods to printers. Sometimes it seemed to be the one port itself (they just used a different port and they were good), sometimes it was the USB 2.0 controller, but it looks like most of the time the device itself was just providing to much power for the port (the device was faulty).
I would first try restarting if you havent, then try a different port, then try a different PC. After that you may need to try a different battery. Of course if you are still under warranty you could always go that route.

  • Loses battery power after 1 hour of play

My iPod mini (first generation) loses battery power after about an hour of play.
I sent the iPod mini into Apple to replace the battery. But they said nothing was wrong with it.
That can't be true, because I remember playing my iPod for longer stretches of time than just an hour.
    Thanks for any help!

The iPod battery indicator is only a very loose approximation of how much charge there actually is left.
    See these.

However, you also need to consider that the battery may need replacing.

  • Battery lifetime after re-charge

    Hi to everyone,
i want to wish to everyone a good day. One more time i would like to ask your
help with a battery problem i am having. I am having a very strange behavior
with my iPhone's battery. I have fully re-charged my phone's battery and
after approximately 12 hours the battery indicator is showing 88% !
In these hours i have used my device only for 1 minute for a quick phone call.
Before charging it i am always wait until my battery lever is at 2% in which
my device automatically shuts down by itself. I have always "3G" setting on
and at my area the "3G" reception is not always achieved. Is this battery
    consumption sounds logical ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Panagiotis.

You may not want to hear this, but you definitely have a battery that's on it's way to going "bad". Based on your comments about "using it all the way down to 2%", I suspect you damaged the battery at some point. These types of batts (LiOn) don't like to be drained; they don't want to be charged all the time either, but they don't mind being "topped off" now and then.

  • Battery dies

My battery dies after about 30 minutes of beign on my phone and sometimes it jumps down to 3% but when I plug it in to the wall it automatically says like 54% our something high up like that. Is my battery just worn out? My AppleCare expired, how much would it be to replace my battery?

    Hi Morganzuh,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has steps you can take if your iPhone is unexpectedly powering off when battery life seems okay:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • After Lightroom 5.6 catalog backup, cannot open Lightroom (hour glass appears for a few seconds, then nothing happens)

Cannot open Lightroom 5.6 after catalog backup (hour glass appears, then nothing happens)

I found the solution to this from these thread Re: Photoshop CC opens and then closes immediately. What gives? and Re: Photoshop CC Crashes/Closes within seconds of startup
I did it and it works for me So, I think I should share this so people who have faced the same issue as I can give it a try.
Basically, Just uninstall the Photoshop and Creative Cloud, then rename the folder SLCache to SLCache_old. Restart your computer once and then re-install everything again. (CC and PS)
    It should work.
    Thanks

  • How many hours does a brand new battery last after fully charged. I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro.

How many hours does a brand new battery last after fully charged. I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro.

clintonfrombirmingham is right, there is no way to exactly tell. But from personal experience, a new battery on a 2008 will last for about 2 1/2 hours with a higher screen brightness and doing something taxing to the battery (like gaming or running lots of 3D programs). But if you're just listening to music with the brightness all the way down, and no programs running, you could get up to 12 hours. So for average use, it should last you a whole business day (assuming you don't use it more than 30% 0f the time). Hope this kind of gives you more of an idea of what to expect:)
