Yes, all live objects from the young and old gen will be compacted into the old gen (and maybe into the young gen too, if they do not fit in the old gen).

Part-backup, full Library question

I'm about to get a 32GB flash drive (it's on offer) and will use it to backup some iTunes data. This includes a big project about 17GB in size, with lots of nested playlists and important tagged data. This will easily fit on the drive, along with my Favourites playlist. However, there isn't room for my entire iTunes folder which is over 38GB.
The question is, how to achieve this without losing any of the important stuff like playlists, tags, ratings, etc? I can, for example, drag the relevant playlists to the flash drive from within iTunes. I could also drag the iTunes Library files there too. But those will refer to the whole iTunes Library, not just the 66% - 75% of it I'm backing up.
What would happen if I ever tried to recreate iTunes on a different machine, from the iTunes Library file on the flash drive? The Library file and the music won't be in sync with each other.
I already have a full backup of iTunes on an external HDD, but this is 'important belt and braces' stuff - I want to know that my most important music and playlists and data are preserved should the worst ever happen and I need to use what's on the flash drive.

I don't think you can do exactly what you want to do -- not easily.
The following is just theoretical, but it might work (I would back up first to make sure!):
You could try selectively consolidating some items to an iTunes folder on the flash drive. Consolidating, I believe, just copies files, not move them (or my references are out of date). Then once there is a partial duplicate of the library on the flash drive you could copy the library files and artwork, etc. to the drive so you reconstruct everything a normal iTunes folder would need to start with a partial version of your current library. Of course there would be many broken links but you could use one of Dougscripts to remove dead links for the files you hadn't copied.
I have never consolidated but I think you change the media location preference in your iTunes preferences. Then do not let it organize things when you close preferences -- you don't want to have it do it automatically for everything. Select items to be copied in iTunes, then there will be a consolidate command you can use to consolidate selected items. Go back and return your iTunes preferences to normal.

Converting Single App membership to Full -Staff question ?

Hi …… I currently have two Annual single App Membership plans running: Photoshop - AD001472772UK and PremPro - AD001752956UK. I’ve been trialling other Apps available in CC and find I could now use at least 4 others. In the UK the full membership is approx £47 ppm. Six Apps equates to £7.8 ppm for each with access to all the others etc. The math works for me and I would like to increase my Single App membership to a Full Annual subscription.
How do I go about this please without incurring any financial penalty? My Photoshop membership fee has already been paid this month, my PremPro membership is new and I don’t believe any payment has yet been requested.

Beverley Hi, I've just spent 30 mins on a Chat session with Jacky, one of your Support people. A very productive use of time. She informs me that my two previous App single memberships have been cancelled and I now have full membership. She also confirmed that no cancellation charges have been raised for the remaining term on the singles.

Muse Demo vs Full Version Question

Demo version working well, but seems to be missing a lot of basic tools. Does the full version come with more site building options I assume?
Are there any websites out there you can direct me to that was built by Muse?

Delta and Full Load question for cube and ODS

Hi all,
I need to push full load from Delta ODS.
I have process chain.... in which the steps are like below,
1. R/3 extractor for ODS1 (delta)
2. ODS1 to ODS2 (delta)
3. ODS2 to Cube ---> needs to be full load
Now when i run process chain by further processing automatically ODS2 does init/delta for Cube.
How can i make it possible for full load ??
can any one guide anything in this ?

Hi,
1. R/3 extractor for ODS1 (delta) : This is OK, normally you can put the Delta InfoPack in Process Chian
2. ODS1 to ODS2 (delta): It automatically flow from ODS1 to ODS2 (you need to select Update Data automaticall in the Targets at the time of ODS creation)
3. ODS2 to Cube ---> needs to be full load :
This you create a Update rules from ODS1 to Cube then Create InfoPackage in between ODS2 and Cube then do full loads. You can delete the data in the CUbe before the load ann dthen do Full load to Cube.
Note: In ODS2 don't select Upadate Data autmaticlly to Data Targets

Import full database question

We running oracle rdbms 11.2.0.3 on aix 6.2 and I am going to create a copy of a production database by using expdp and impdp. My quesition is that the target database for the impdp already has all of the data from the last time we refreshed from prod.
Can I do a fulll database import over the top of what is already there or do I have to start with a blank general purpose database first?

Also, you can clear the objects on the target database and do a fresh import.

2 IPOD's - 1 Empty - 1 Full - Simple Question

Two 30g ipods - 1 new/empty - 1 with 'stuff' - want to transfer the stuff to the new one and then create new stuff to go on the old one - both are 5th generation-any help on where to look on how to do this so I don't get it all messed up? Thank you for any help!

Is your old "stuff" on iTunes? If it is connect your new iPod and follow the on screen instructions, it will find your existing iTunes and give you a prompt to automatically update. As for the old one, add new stuff to iTunes, connect your iPod and update it in whatever manner you have been using up to now.
To summarise, if you are adding a second iPod for your own use, just connect it to your computer and it will update from your existing library. Depending on the size of your library and the type of iPod you choose you can have it update the whole library, selected playlists or you can manage it manually.
If iTunes does not contain the stuff that's on your old iPod then you need to get it back onto your computer. You can't sync or drag your non iTMS music back directly from an iPod to iTunes. The transfer of non iTMS content is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod, the transfer of purchased content has recently been introduced with iTunes 7. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. As iTunes 7 is just out some of these may not have caught up with it yet though I haven't experienced any problems with the Mac software I use.

Question on expdp and impdp for full batabase

I have 10.2.0.4.0 db1 on solaris10.
I have to convert the database character set from WE8ISO8859P1 to AL32UTF8 by the export and import method per note [ID 260192.1]
I will not move the database for the converstion.
Waht I have done:
ran csscan for the db1 ( from WE8ISO8859P1 to AL32UTF8 ). The results are perfect -- no "lossy" "truncation".
ran expdp with full=y sucessfully
removed the db1 by DBCA.
created the db1 with AL32UTF8 by DBCA unselect all the option of schemas. And the tablespaces/datafiles are in exact the same locations as the db1 before it was removed.
I will run impdp with full=y
Questions:
There are some users exist in the origina dbl say source, but not exist in new created target, so are some of the tablespaces.
Do I have to manually create these users and tablespaces in the target database?
I thought impdp full=y would make a full load of the database which should create the new users and the new tablespaces on the target, correct?

Actually the answer for what you need to do depends in part on if you are importiing back into the origional souce after it was clearned out or importing into a new database.
When the target is not the source then on a full import if the file paths exist and the import can allocate the data sets then the import should create the tablespaces however if the same pathing cannot be used or if the souce database in on the same server and you obviously do not want to overwrite the existing database data files then you would need to pre-create the target tablespaces in order to use different files.
The users should create. I do not have the time to run a test if the user default tablespace does not exist but I would expect the database to create the user defaulting the user default tablespace to whatever tablespace you have set for the database as a whole.
I would pre-create owners and grant the usernames the necessary system privileges in advance including quotas since it is possilbe that existing owners may not have all necessary privileges to re-creaate what alreadys exists.

Question Marks Throughout Emails?

When people receive my emails they are full of question marks; but when I'm writing the emails there are no question marks. Is this happening to anyone else? Any ideas why or how I can stop it please? I'm running Tiger 10.4.9. on MacBook Pro. Budgie

More than likely the people reporting this problem are Windows users that use Outlook as their email client and you are using RTF for message composition.
Using Plain Text instead should resolve it. Since the same does not occur with all email clients when using RTF with Mail - primarily with Outlook, this is more of an Outlook problem than a Mail problem. There aren't any email clients that are completely bug free but for such an old/mature email client, Outlook has it's share.

Yes, there is a link to "Ask a new question" but it has no input box. I have to click several more times before finally getting to type my "question" - which is really only a Subject: line, not the full-fledged question that finally shows up under "add more details."
