Full Name "default"

I configured portal server to authenticate against my corporate LDAP and the login process works fine, but when the user display profile is created, only the uid (user naming attribute) is passed to DSAME, and the cn and sn are set to default. How can DSAME get the cn from the external LDAP? I want to display the user's full name in the "User Information" channel

Where do you use the LOV? Is it being used in a Select list? If so, you will have a place to enter the default value. Edit the Select list, and you will see a place where you can enter Default value.

I have an LOV which as the full name of the user, for example 'John Smith'.
I would like to set the value of this LOV to the full name of the user, based on a match with username. So when JSMITH is logged in, I would like the default value of the LOV to be 'John Smith'.

What's the difference between "Full Name" and "Account Name"

Just re-install a new OS X Lion. On the "Create Your Computer Account" screen, what's the difference between "Full Name" and "Account Name"?

Your computer name by default would be "John David Appleseed's Macbook Pro"
But you can always change that in System Preferences->Sharing
And yes, the first account you set up will be an administrator.

Displaying user's full name with content

How would I best set up an attribute to display the user's full name with a published item?
The default 'author' attribute only displays the login name.
I have an idea how to set up a custom attribute of the PL/SQL type, but am unsure if there already exists a procedure to fetch the current user's full name.

For any item type, define an item type procedure. Pass the author attribute to the procedure. The procedure will need to call the WWSEC_API.PERSON_INFO(P_USER_NAME) function, which returns a record containing all the columns in the WWSEC_PERSON table.
In pseudocode, your procedure will:
declare a record based on wwsec_person%rowtype
call wwsec_api.person_info to populate the record
use htp.p to display the wwsec_person.first_name and wwsec_person.last_nameTo show the results of the item type procedure, display the "Associated Functions" attribute in the region properties.

How to hide full name when publishing photos to icloud's public website?

When allowing iPhoto to publish photos to iCloud (Public Website, allow anyone to view this photo stream at:..." my full Name (xxx by xxx) is always displayed when opening the link.
Does anyone know how to hide or change the name displayed?

I tried changing my name (Apple ID). It had no effect on the Aperture photo stream website page (and yes, I tried it with a new photo stream).
I still think your name should not be included by default with public website, as well as ability to prevent pictures from Copy/Save.

IChat: Display as Full Names

Hello,
I'm using the new Server 3.0 on a Mac Pro running Mavericks. We have the Messages service enabled and our users are authenticating with a local account on the Server to sign into messages. This helps us manage our IM accounts.
My question is on the client side. There is an option under View that says Show as Full Names. However, it seems like that option just shows the short name. We would like it to show the full name (firstname lastname).
Does anyone know if this is possible with user interaction? Can this be done on the server side?

I was trying to gain an understanding of what can be seen at your end, not suggesting it was an everyday way of working.
Lets try this another way.
An AIM Name can have a Display Name.
This is set at AIM and is sent as a replacement for the Screen Name.
Here is a pic of my main AIM name logged into the AIM Settings site
(it's part of the window)
It states the "Web Settings for iChat Guru (then my Screen Name)
If people don't have my real name in their Address Book, this is what they will see.
iChat and Messages display Buddy's real names when their Address Card has the relevant Jabber ID or AIM Screen Name or Yahoo ID.
The Contacts App can be synced via iTunes or iCloud to other computers or iOS devices.
It can also use Google or Yahoo services as "Accounts" in the App itself, as well as the default "On My Mac" option.
Info can also be called from Directory Services connections to Servers where "global" address books can be held.
The Address Cards can also have Nicknames on them. Of the ones I have set up these have been done through the Messages > Buddy List > Get Info > Info Card method.
As your Contacts app could be getting external info, rather than "On My Mac" info it is not clear from what you have posted so far if the Address Cards show Nicknames or only First Names (which it will default to if no Nickname) because that is what is being seen by Messages - or if the setting on the View Menu is not working.
My understanding is that the Server needs to have a databases set up of who is allowed to login.
From there I understand this list is then used by the iChat server as it used to be called.
The Client end then needs a Jabber account set up using that persons particular data.
So the Contacts app may be getting Address Book data from the server.
This may only be First names or "Nicknames".
It could be the Messages app is not actually changing the setting properly when you change it from Show Nicknames.
I would try setting up a separate Mac User on this computer and see if you get different results.

Full Name Refiner Values in Language Refiner

Hi,
is it possible to display the language refiner in the SP2013 refinement panel Web Part written with its full name?
Let's say I get refiner values from the "languages" refiner for German and English, written as "de" and "en" and those texts appear in the refiner like this.
But what I actually want to display is "German" and "English", including a localization to the current display language.
So when switching to German language I would see "Deutsch" and "Englisch".
Is there a way to accomplish this in a simple way without creating translations for every language by hand and mappping these in the default refiner item display template?

Help! It looks like everyone can see my full name

The default setting in our forums is that you are able to see your full name, but others are only able to see your screen name. However, this causes some confusion as it appears that others can see your full name. Don't worry- they cannot!
To confirm this:
Click on your avatar at the top right
Edit Communities Profile
Privacy
Confirm that your Name is only visible to "Yourself"
You can also sign out and type in your profile URL to see that you're only able to view your screen name.
Note: There is a bug in our version of jive and "Preview your profile" is inaccurate.

Mac mail full name change

Hi,
I just upgraded ONE computer amongst 4 to 10.94 and it won't let me change the full name in the account information box in mail. We each have individual names associates with the same emaIL ADDRESS on the four different computers. How can I change it on my new Mac?

They they will have to have their own iCloud account.
You could create aliases to the original email at the iCloud.com page under Mail. For example if your primary email name is
[email protected] you can have up to 3 aliases to that account.

[email protected]
[email protected]
In each of the other accounts you can set the appropriate alias to be the default email address to use.

Smtp - change my full name when i send an email

How do i get to change my name (my full name): When i send now an email the people who get my email see the adres of my email, but also my Full Name.
I understand that this i sthe name that i have typed in when i activted the icloud account and this is the name that people see when they get an email from me. But how can i change this?
I logged in on my profile, and changed my name, but still my earlier name is there to see. And i don't want that. (no, i have nothing to hide )

This might work. I had the same problem in Mail on my iMac.
FIrst, login to www.icloud.com. If your name is right on iCloud, open Mail in the iCloud window and click on the gear icon (prefeences) You can fix your name there. On the iMac, I had to wait a few minutes, quit and restart Mail, and check preferences. Then on starting a new message, there was a pulldown under "From", that I used to select the one with my correct name and correct email address. I just deleted that blank email, and others since then default to the correct name.
Don't know if this will work for mail sent from the iPhone, but once the Cloud Mail is corrected, hopefully it will do the trick.

We need there mac account name it to be their actual Active Directory name but right now they can change it to anything they want, including Emoji characters which can't be read on anything else.

This has the key of RealName which is the name they can change from System Preferences.
Is there a way to stop them changing the name?

Having problem with display of full name in finder bar!

As shown in the image above, my full name in finder bar is not showing properly. When I select 'icon' from system preferences it shows correctly, but when I select full name or short name, it touches the top.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Boot in safe mode and log in as yourself. First, disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard, mouse, and monitor, if applicable. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During startup, you will see "Safe Boot" on the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including your login items.
Test again. Same problem now?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)

How to show full name of user in crystal report

Hi. I am using Crystal Report 2008. I need to show full name (first name and last name) of the user logged in. Currently I am using "currentceusername" but it shows the user id that a user uses to login.
Is there any way to show the full name of the user in crystal report?

Not you H4... Can I suggest if someone replies to actually add something of value!!!!
Cr does not have the ability to query your AD Server. What you would have to do is use a AD query tool or Export Option and export the user info from the log on ID into a Excel or an Access table or something CR could report off of. Then you can add a subreport to get the name from the ID and insert it into the main report.
Check with your IT department, they should have tools to get the info. I'm not sure if there is a DB connector that would allow you to query the AD server directly but if there is one and it supports ODBC then you can use that as your subreport Data connection.
Typically names do not change that often so rather than running the Query every time the report is generated it would be better to export the info to a text type file and simply use it for your report. IT can put a rule on to export if the Names change.
