Full Screen FLV

Hi,
I'm having trouble figuring out why when I go full screen I see white and black bars at the bottom of my computer screen. Please see the attached files. I believe this happeneing becasue my controls are part of my swf.
I hope someone can help out. Thanks.

Do not confuse the simplicity of youtube.com as simplistic - aka there is much thought and logic behind youtube. All videos uploaded to youtube are converted into many formats by the youtube server. No one but youtube really knows what they do, but do not think that the video you upload is the actual video played on their site - its formatted on many levels.
Solution:
To achieve what you are asking takes a bit of trial and error. When each video plays (so this is real time - OR you can preset this for movies but its a manual process), you would have to detect the black pixels around the video (if any) and then do a bit of math to and stretch the movie to fit the screen based on the height of the black bars. This is the same logic in dvd players that have the ability to 'fit video to screen'.

hi all
I'm placing a "green-screened" .flv over the top of some other animation (the background has been eliminated w/ color key removal in premiere). It seems to work fine until I enter full screen mode-- at which time the keyed out background comes in as black, not transparent, and covers up everything behind it.
any ideas?

answering my own question, after seeing someone else answer their own question--
you gotta set the parameter to false for:
FLVPlayback.fullScreenTakeOver
such as "myVideo.fullScreenTakeOver=false;"

FLV full screen Projector with buttons?

Full disclosure: I'm a very basic level user!
Trying to create a Projector which contains FLV files and
other on-screen elements.
I have a button "myFSButton" on screen which switches the
Projector to Full screen.
However when the button is clicked the FLV file plays full
screen rather than enlarging the
entire stage to full screen. I'd like to have the entire
interface zoom to full when the button is
pressed.
I've tried a couple of different was to switch to full
screen, but both have the same effect.
First using fscommands:

mytempfsbutton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, gofull);
Second using stage.displayState:
function gofull(event:MouseEvent):void

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I tried the revised code you provided, and kept getting an
error saying:
"1120 Access of undefined property myFLVPlaybackControl."
(Again, I'm a graphics guy doing code...so obvious things
sometimes slide past me!)
After looking at the livedocs links you provided (Thanks for
that too!!! It was a Big help!)
I ended up with the code looking like this:

How to Enable Full Screen Viewing?

I want to upload flv files to my website. I have got it worling fine - insert media - flv - progressive download - etc. When I view the file in the testing server it does not have the option to "view in full screen" which I need as I want to keep the preview windows small and have several videos on the one page. Is there code I need to enter in addition to that generated by Dreamweaver? I'm not familiar with Flash Pro or Media Encoder but I do have access to them if t makes the whole process easier. Thanks in advance

I know I posted this in the Flash forum but I'm not actually using Flash Pro as I don't have a 64bit computer. Dreamweaver CS5 doesn't have any skins with fullscreen options. What should I be doing to the file before uploading it? I have access to most Adobe products if you can point me in the right direction.

Will this help with windows vista u tube not playing in full screen?

I have windows vista and hadn't seemed able to get full screen to work with u tube. I tried going to google chrome and then to the u tube page. Click on the icon in the address bar that shows www.youtube.com ( It's on the left next to the address ). This shows you view site information. Run you cursor error over each permission on the right. You are allowed to change each permission to allowed by you. I allowed by clicking on each one all but the: locations, notifications, mouselock, and media. When you are done, you may click outside of this box to have it go away. The you tube page will ask you to reload to have permissions take effect. After I did this I also went to the box to customize and control google chrome wich is way up in the right corner either having three small lines or may be a gear box. I clicked on this and went to tools and then clicked on extensions. It will show you google docs, mcafee, or whatever you have. I went down and clicked on get more extensions. This should bring you to chrome web store. The search is up on the left. type in : window expander for youtube and hit the enter key. click on add to chrome next to the window expander appliction. I exited out and went back to you tube. My videos play in full screen. Hope this can help someone.

Flash Full screen movie problem..

Hi gang,
I have flash content that loads a number of small movies (.flv) side by side when loaded.
The .swf runs fine from the desktop... but when i go full screen... only the last movie clip is visible in the center of the window? Its like it is only going full screen on the last movie.
any ideas?

Finally. The reason that full screen not worked was beacause I tested it locally. So be careful, test on server.
Anyway, stage.allowsFullScreenInteractive is always FALSE. So I must be sure that I put correct javascript or I'll get RTE. That's bad.

if any flv file, it is asking download video as popup. i would like to remove both.

Forcing secondary monitor full screen

I have to flash projector files: one acts as a controller to
chose a flv(s). The other plays the selected video (through
localconnect).
Th second projector (the "player" if you will) needs to load
full screen in-order to display on a TV properly. However, adding
fscommand("fullscreen","true"); forces the projector to load in the
primary monitor.
Is there a way to assign what monitor it should load full
screen into? If not, can you think of a way around it? (3rd party)

Full Screen Fiasco

I'm running my presentation in Full Screen and I'm using xml
to call in individual swf's into the "shell" swf. Everything works
fine until it gets to a swf that includes an flv component. The
screen goes from full screen to black.
I ran the program in debug and got the following error
"ReferenceError: Error #1056: Cannot create property player on
flash.display.Stage." Any help is appreciated.

Another addendum: it doesn't seem to happen if I create the
FLV component instance (inthe child SWF) through ActionScript.
Unfortunately, my project involves several files that use the FLV
component on the stage.

Script to force Full Screen SWF?

I'm creating eBrochures in ID_CS5 but looking to create SWFs that fun full screen for local playback, not web based.
Is the full screen paramter scriptable from within ID so that the SWF opens as such ?

Your solution may be to convert your video to FLV and have an autorun on the disc that runs an embedded flash video player. In this fashion, with directx you can automatically go full screen (almost as though running an opening cinematic from a game).
The downside is that the project would only be copatible with Windows based PC's, and then for maximum compatibility you'd need to do some research on video capabilities, as well as programming skill (to some degree) for scripting the procedure.
Suffice to say, it sounds like it would be more trouble than it is worth, unless the need is great.

Adding full screen button to DW Flash video?

When I finish a project, I take the video out of Apple Compressor as a .flv file. I then take this and drag it into an HTML file in DreamWeaver. This brings up the "Insert FLV" window, where I can choose some controls, set auto play, etc. None of the preset controls has a "full screen" button. I'm looking for a way to add this functionality to our web site. Are there either 1) other controls templates that I can download that have this built in or 2) an easy way to add full screen fuctionality to that already existing template? Bear in mind I know little about using the Flash program itself, but I have and I will if I need to manually edit something. Ideally, there would be just some other template that I can download to do this kind of thing.
Any ideas?

I've already thought of YouTube, but our organization's filter occasionally blocks YouTube content, therefore it's unreliable for us to use for our internal viewers (we are a school district)
Your Option 2 doesn't work for us because we don't want to open and use Flash each time we embed something. Our workflow is quick now because it comes right from compressor and goes right to DreamWeaver. The ONLY drawback is that we can't make it full screen, which is what I"m trying to rectify. I don't want to add another program/step into the mix here.
Ideally, the solution to this would be a place I can download a "plugin" template for Dreamweaver to add more options to the drop down list when I add the flv to the web page, that would of course include a full screen button. The other option would be a resource I can use to figure out how to modify the existing Flash settings to use Flash to make a full screen button on that.
Ideas?

Hi All,
I'm having some problems when using full screen on Flash.
I have my stage content and also a FLV running I want the whole stage to go fullscreen when I hit the fullscreen button not only the flv.
I've tried using the player fullscreen button and also created a button of my own but both of them turn only the movie in fullscreen!
here is the code I used for my button

Quicktime Full Screen

Is there anyway to get Quicktime to play full screen through my website? I tried the usual right click method and this did not work. Any suggestions?

YouTube does not use Windows Media Player either.

There are free Flash players that you can embed in your page. 'Flowplayer' is one of them.

How do I load a movie?

You can load a movie with a embed video using
movie_mc.loadMovie("file.swf").
Did you try to encoding the video with Sorenson Spark video
codec? The error was the video encode feature.
Try this sequence:
1. File > import video
2. Press Next
3. Select the video
4. Press Next
5. Chose embed video in SWF and play in timeline
6. Press Next
7. Press Next again
8. On encoding step click in 'Show Advanced Settings', select
the video codec Sorenson Spark.
9. Press next and finish.
You can find video playback issues on the QTek 8310, 9000,
9100 and i-Mate MP5 devices.
