Function module access from crystal 2008

Hi,
If the function module has tables as Import parameters, I am not able to see the input fields as well as the output parameters.
How to access the function module in this scenario. Is there any work around to achieve reporting from crystal?
Thanks

Yes I did Ingo.
Here is what I understood as this limitations mentioned from the user guide (second bullet point). But I need any suggestions/ Help  OR any work around. Let me know If my thinking is wrong.
Limitations
For functions to be used in a report, they must meet two conditions:
u2022 Functions must have defined return types for each of the output
parameters.
u2022 Functions must not have whole tables as input parameters.
Note:
If a function does not meet the first condition, you can write a "wrapper"
function with defined return types, and then call the original function from
within the wrapper function.
Finally, the ability to call entire programs is not supportedu2014you may call
individual functions only.
Thanks

  • RFC remote function module call from XI

    hi
I am trying to call a remote function module directly from XI which is not a bespoke module.
And i am getting the following error:
com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException: error while processing message to remote system:com.sap.aii.af.rfc.core.client.RfcClientException: failed to parse BAPI response due to: com.sap.aii.af.rfc.util.bapi.BapiException: Parameter with name RETURN not found.
    Please help me in this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Naina,
Normally RFC are synchronous, they do have return parameter as export parameter.
If return parameter is missing then , you can create Wrapper RFC.
    Wrapper RFC:
It is nothing but you just  create BAPI in SE37 transaction with Return parameter as export parameter and make it remote enabled by clicking on Radio button.
Under source code, CALL BAPI which XI has to call.
    Thats it!
    I hope this helps.
Let me know if any help required.

  • BAPI or Function Module interface from XSD definition

Given an XSD file, is there any way to automatically generate a BAPI or Function Module interface from it?
    BR,
    Tony.

    Hi,
There are two approaches to create interfaces in XI
    - Outside-In - interfaces definitions are stored in XI as e.g. xsd  and PROXY classes/interfaces are generated in business system
    - Inside-Out - interfaces are developed in business system and imported into XI e.g. IDocs, BAPIs, RFMs
So it is NOT possible to generate BAPI or FM based on XSD definition, but you can generate proxy.

  • Access function module string from JSP file

    Hello,
I an a Java person with very little knowledge of ABAP. I have a Function Module, which returns the String - Y_text with value "X" or "Y". Now, I want to use this "X" or "Y" in my JSP page. And based on the value do some things. Eg:
    If (Y_text == "X")
        "Value is X"
How do I pick up the valus of Y_text from the function module?
I know how to get the values from Extention Data like below, but this does not seem to be working in case of the String from function module.
    String Y_text = (String) userSessionData.getAttribute("Y_text");
    Kindly suggest.

    Hi Shaun,
Check the below link, it discusses about calling function module from ISA. Its a nice beginner's tutorial
by Sateesh. You can copy the code given in ZAction.java in your jsp and get the values from FM.

    Hope this helps you!

  • ABAP Function Module table into crystal

    Hello,
I created a ABAP Function Module with one export parameter(a structure), and another table paramemter(with table type of identical to a table in sap).
I wrote a simple select statement and dumped the data into the internal table which I am passing it as table parameter.
However when I access that function module from crystal, I only see export parameter(structure) with one record, BUT I DO NOT SEE the internal table(table parameter) AT ALL.
I tried various ways of passing, but crystal doesn't seem to be recognizing the table parameter at all.
I pulled the f_union shich shows up in crystal, but it is not returning any values at all.
How do I pull in a function module's table parameter into crystal?
    Thanks

  • Function Module performance in Crystal Reports - Best practices

    Hi all,
We are following a function module based approach for our crystal reporting needs. We tried to follow an infoset approach, but found that most of the critical fields required for reports were retrieved from function modules and bapis.
Our reports contain some project filters/parameter fields based on which the task reports would be created. I was wondering what would be the best approach/best practices to be considered while designing the FM so as not to impact the crystal report performance?
We created a sample FM in our test system with just the table descriptions ( without the input parameters) which would retrieve all the projects and found that crystal reports crashed while trying to retrieve all the records. I am not sure if this is the right approach since this is our project in using FMs for crystal reports.
    Thank you
    Vinnie

yes. We did try following the infoset approach against the tables however since our project reports contain long text fields and status texts ( retrieved via FMs), we opted for the FM approach. Do you know how texts can be handles from ABAP to Crystal reports?

    Hi,
one option to investigate is to select the data with a condition on KNUMV (primary IDX).
Since shipment costs are store in VFKP I would investigate if all your F condition records are used in this table (field VFKP-KNUMV).
If this is the case then something like
    SELECT *
    FROM KONV
WHERE KNUMV IN (SELECT DISTINCT KNUMV FROM VFKP)
    or
    SELECT DISTINCT KNUMV
    INTO CORRESPONDING FIELD OF <itab>
    FROM VFKP
    and then
    SELECT *
    FROM KONV
    FOR ALL ENTRIES IN <itab>
    WHERE...
    will definitively speed it up.
    hope this helps....

  • Regarding the RFC Function Module call from PI

    Hi All,
I am working on one File to RFC interface, in which File adapter picks the file, this file data has to goto  2 function modules in SAP system. For this i added 2 Inbound interfaces in INTERFACE DETERMINATION and I developed 2 RECEIVER AGREEMENTS. In 2 RECEIVER AGREEMENTS i added single receiver RFC Communication Channel.
Now i want assurance that once 1 st function module will execute completely, then only my second function module should be called. Is there any setting that i can do to make this sync?????.
what is the use of  Send 'Confirm Transaction' in receiver RFC Communication Channel under Adavanced Mode.
    Thanks,
    Balu

    Hi,
As per you requirement I would suggest to change your scenario as File To Proxy. It will much more easier and 100% sure to process second BAPI only after first gets successful inside the proxy.
Pass the data from file adapter to inbound proxy and then inside proxy code you first call the first BAPI and use commit wrok. Once commit work is successful then you call the second BAPI otherwise rollback the changes.
    Example:
    Call First_BAPI
<pass the data to it's import export parameters>
    Commit work.
    if sy-subrc =0.
    Call Second_BAPI.
<pass the data to it's import export parameters>
    Commit work.
    endif.
Note: If you are not very much comfortable with ABAP the discuss this with your ABAP team mate.

  • Error in Functional module calling from XI!!!

    Hi All,
I'm using XI to pick data from ORACLE write it in SAP and take the response from SAP and write it back in ORACLE database. I'm using a custom functional module in SAP and calling it from XI .
The custom functional module create the CUSTOMER and ORDER .
Customer is getting created in SAP but order is not created. We are using two different functional modules for customers and orders.
The above functional modules are executing in SAP but while calling from XI only the customer is getting created in SAP.
Please post your views and suggestions on this issue.
    Thanks in advance.
    LN

First put the commit work after successfuly executing the order creation in the custom function module.
If you already put and doesn't know why it is not creating the orders, debug the function module by putting the same data which you are passing from XI in test tab.
Suppose, the Orders are creating in the dubug mode. Then debug the custome function module dynamically using SM50.

  • Raise exception in function module call from SAP owned program

I need to raise an exception in a function module to terminate a transaction, display a error message and return to to previous selection screen so the user can fix the error before moving forward.......
How do you do this when the program using the function module is SAP owned?
    Thank You!
    Jeff

    Hi,
After calling the function module, you can do something like this.
    IF SY-SUBRC <> 0.
      RAISE EXCEPTION.
    ENDIF.

  • Error Publishing Dynamic Prompt to BOE XI Release 3 From Crystal 2008

I am getting the following error when trying to publish reports with dynamic prompts to        "Failed to read data from report file <file name> Reason: failed to read parameter object".  I found this error occurring in threads referring to previous versions of BOE and none of the solutions are an option to me: I cannot give the user any further rights, and I am unable to apply patches since they are for Crystal XI, rather than 2008.  Is there a solution for this issue?  I found a work around which is to save the report to another source (a shared drive, for example) and then loading it via the Central Management Console.  However, once this is done, when any user attempts to view the report, the report continues to prompt for a username and password, despite having updated this in the Database Configuration and selecting "use same database logon as when report is run".
Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hi Heather
I get the same behaviour in this case:
If my report uses a Stored procedure as the datasource AND i use an SQL sommand to create the LOV for dynamic parameter then each time i run the report in infoview it asks for db login info
I think it looks for this info to create the LOV
I created the same report with a table as the datasource and used the exact same command to create the LOV and was able to run the report without a request for db login info.
I also created the report with the SP but with no LOV, the parameter is set to static, and it runs without extra login
I have entered the db login info in CMC for each report before i tried running in infoview
What are your reports using as datasources?
