Error Publishing Dynamic Prompt to BOE XI Release 3 From Crystal 2008
I am getting the following error when trying to publish reports with dynamic prompts to "Failed to read data from report file <file name> Reason: failed to read parameter object". I found this error occurring in threads referring to previous versions of BOE and none of the solutions are an option to me: I cannot give the user any further rights, and I am unable to apply patches since they are for Crystal XI, rather than 2008. Is there a solution for this issue? I found a work around which is to save the report to another source (a shared drive, for example) and then loading it via the Central Management Console. However, once this is done, when any user attempts to view the report, the report continues to prompt for a username and password, despite having updated this in the Database Configuration and selecting "use same database logon as when report is run".
Thanks in advance for any help!
Hi Heather
I get the same behaviour in this case:
If my report uses a Stored procedure as the datasource AND i use an SQL sommand to create the LOV for dynamic parameter then each time i run the report in infoview it asks for db login info
I think it looks for this info to create the LOV
I created the same report with a table as the datasource and used the exact same command to create the LOV and was able to run the report without a request for db login info.
I also created the report with the SP but with no LOV, the parameter is set to static, and it runs without extra login
I have entered the db login info in CMC for each report before i tried running in infoview
What are your reports using as datasources?

I've asked this question in SQL Server Upgrade forume, I'm asking here as well:
Your help is highly appreciated!
After migrating ReportServer db from 2008 to 2012, when access Report Manager throughhttp://myserver:80/Reports, I got the error below:
ui!ReportManager_0-3!11d8!02/04/2013-15:19:12:: e ERROR: Software Usage Metrics initialize failed
The process is below:
•I successfully installed SQL Server 2012 (64-bit) Enterprise as a Native Mode on a server who runs Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 (64-bit).
•I restored "ReportServer2008To2012" and "ReportServer2008To2012TempDB" in SSRS 2012 from the db files backed up in SQL 2008. In SSRS 2008, I have SSRS Model, ad-hoc reports based on model, and I also have canned reports built through BIDS
report server project.
•I reconfigured both databases' Compatibility level to SQL Server 2012(110) from SQL Server 2008(100).
•I configured SSRS through Reporting Services Configuration Manager as below:
> I chosen "Use built-in account:" as Service Account
> In "Database" tab, I selected "Choose an existing report server database" and choose "ReportServer2008To2012" db, I used "Windows Authentication" (my login has the System Administrator priviledge). I got all 4 parts
success: Verifying database sku = Success; Generating rights scripts = Success; Applying connection rights = Success; Setting DSN = Success.
> I went to "Scale-out Deployment" to check if the initializing succeed, I found nothing there.
Here are what I did from different approaches:
A •I went to "Encryption Keys" and restored the key I backed up from SSRS 2008, after retoring, I got two initialized instances: One is on my current server (SSRS 2012), the other one is from the old server (SSRS 2008).
I deleted the old one(SSRS 2008) through "Remove Server" action and kept the one on my current server(SSRS 2012).
After I restart SSRS service, and tried to connect Report Manager, I got "An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details."
I checked the log file, the error is actually "ERROR: Software Usage Metrics initialize failed"
B •I also tried to "Delete Encrypted Content" and did see the SSRS was initialized through checking it on "Scale-out Deployment", however when I tried to open Report Manager, I got the same error.

Code changes for BOE XI R2 from Crystal Reports XI Server R2
I'm using a Crystal Reports Server XI R2 server currently for hosting my development reports. But my production server is going to be Business Objects Enterprise Professional XI R2.
What will be changes that I need to ponder?You will need to upgrade XIR2 to XI 3.1 if you intend to import reports from CRS 2008. As the message states reports cannot be imported from new to older versions only the other way is supported from older to new, or from the same version to the same version.

Publisher Dynamic Receipent Error in Germany
Hi, I have to burts a crystal report for every cost center and trying to use publisher for this. I created a main crystal report with CostCenter as prompt/variable. I create another crystal report, which contains list of cost center only, to use as a source for dynamic Receipent. Following are my pulication settings.
1) Main crystal report as source
2) Second crystal report with list of cost centers are dynamic receipent source
3) Destination is ftp location
4) Personlization is dynamic receipt source field
5) format is pdf
When i try to run the publication with test mode I am getting following error please help me.

Parameter with Dynamic prompt - bug encountered
I am using CRD XI release 2 (SP2) against an Oracle 10 release 2 database
I have a report fully working with a static parameter
1. But I have an issue when trying to introduce a parameter with dynamic prompts
I have a data source (PointofSale retrieving data from a database view)
I am trying to have the newPointOfSale parameter to prompt the user for values taken out of the PointOfSale source.
I set up the parameter as indicated by the Crystal RD210 Guide.
But when I run the report I am prompted for Server Name(greyed out)/user name/password(something I have never had to do for this report until introducing the dynamic parameter)
In doubt I enter these of the database user I am using as a source for this report
I get a strange error message telling me there is a problem with another datasource on the report.
'Prompting failed with the following error message: 'List of Values failure: fail to get values. [Cause of erro: The table 'DLEX_REPORT.DLEX_REPORT_RETRIEVE.AIRLEGSUMMARY_SUM' could noyt be found. UNKNOWN.RPT]'.
Error source: prompt.ddl Error code 0x8004380D
There seem to be bug with parameters and dynamic list of values in Crystal as other people seem to encounter similar issue
Is there a fix or a workaround?
2. Also I believe this forum allows to escalate bugs with SAP/business objects. Does anyone know how to do this? As this is very obviously a bug....
Thanks
PhilippeI am not sure whether this will solve your problem since you are using a different implementation of Crystal Reports , but I've received the same error using CR XI Developer Release 2 in conjunction with the Crystal Reports Server XI Release 2. My solution was to go into the Business View Manager application and fix the Data Connection object associated with the problematic Dynamic prompt by supplying a user name and password for the data connection object and setting the "Runtime Prompt Mode" property to "Never Prompt". For some dumb reason, the Crystal Reports client will publish the data connection object to the Business Views database without any login credentials associated with it. So after creating such a prompt in a report, you have perform this extra step before running the report the first time. The good news is that if you reference this dynamic prompt in other reports, it will work - so you only need to fix it when it is first created.

Thanks for the help; that worked; what i have done is create dropdown and a submit button. When I view the report using the "HTML Preview" that worked fine; and when I select ther dropdown value and click submit I see the dropdown value is being passed in the URL; but nothing is displayed back' no error message or report just a blank page; the report is published to the server but I am not sure what is the problem since there is no error being displayed.

Error while publishing a service with WSPUBLISH: Error publishing Endpoint
Hallo,
I've a problem while publishing a service which a had created via proxy. I configured the service and one endpoint (binding) in SOAMANAGER. When I publish the service in WSPUBLISH I get the error:
'Error publishing Endpoint for SD : <Proxy>, Service : <Service>, EP : <Endpoint>.
with details:
'10160A save request exceeded the quantity limits for a given structure type .#Number of BusinessEntities exceeds your limit of 1 (2)'
In the Service Registry I can find the service but without endpoints.
Does anybody know what happend ?
We use a SAP NetWeaver 7.10 with SP05 (SAPKB71005) but the same error happens if I publish a service from a CRM 5.0 with SP15 (SAPKB70015) to the Service Registry of the 7.10
ChristophThis is my steps to publish ES to SR:
1. Create RFC destination in SM59
2. Create ES Parameter in WSPARAM
3. Create logical port for SR in LPCONFIG
4. Release Web Service for SOA Runtime in WSCONFIG
5. Publish ES in WSPUBLISH.
When i was using SOAMANAGER to manually create the endpoint, the endpoint in the SR doesnt works though.
eg, Business Administration -> WS Administration -> Search for CRM_BPBASICDATABYIDQR -> Apply selection -> Configuration -> Create Service -> enter new service name and new binding name -> user id/password for HTTP Authentication -> save.
It works after i released it in WSCONFIG (ya, i know it's old way) and re-publish.

BW Publisher Configuration in a BOE Cluster (Linux OS)
I have a question about configuring BW Publisher service in a BOE Cluster (with 2 servers). The BOE cluster is on 64 bit Linux servers with Oracle db for CMS and Audit.
The BW publisher service on server 1 is configured to run against a SAP host (letu2019s say u2018host1u2019 and using SAP gateway, SAPGW00). The command to configure BW Publishing service is,
$ ./bwcepub.sh 1 u2013a<Program ID> -g <hostname> -x<SAP Gateway>
After executing the BW Publisher script, the service is running fine. Further configuration on BW and BOE system is letting users publish Crystal reports from the CR 2008 to BW and then to BOE. No problems in that area.
However if a new SAP host has to be configured against the BW Publisher service (a different instance of BW Publisher service) on server 1 (scenario u2013 one BOE server with multiple SAP BW systems connected to it), what is the best process for BW Publisher service configuration? Create one more instance of BW Publisher service with different Program ID and hostname? I have tried this approach and got the following message:
WARNING: The BW publisher is already running as user bobjadm. Exiting...In order to run the publisher as the same user but from a different session, define variable BWCEPUB_PREFIX to something unique, e.g. session2_ so that the publisher can keep track of the different sessions. Once BWCEPUB_PREFIX is defined as a unique, non-empty string, re-run the publisher command.
Upon some search in the SAP notes, found the following workaround (which applies for Solaris OS).
The suggestion is to issue the command, export BWCEPUB_PREFIX=2, verify and re-issue the BW Publisher start command again.
However I am not sure if it will fix the issue.
Also, the 2 instances of BW Publisher service is running only on server 1 (pointing to 2 different hosts), server 1 is a single point of failure and what process should be implemented for fail over (so that server 2 can take the publishing load)? I have checked the processes running on server 2 and do not see any running instances of BW Publisher service (which is configured and running fine on server 1).
To summarize u2013
(1) What are best practices to run a BW publisher service in a BOE cluster?
(2) What is process to setup fail over BW Publisher service in a BOE cluster?
(3) Can 2 instances of BW Publisher service point to 2 different hosts? If so, what additional configuration is required on BW and BOE servers?
Appreciate any info that you can share. Thanks.I have reviewed the SAP notes, and this is what is mentioned there:
There are two ways to accomplish this:
(Option 1) Install and use local SAP gateway on the Enterprise XI server and create an RFC destination to the first BW system as a publishing destination. Point the BW publishing service to the other BW system, create a RFC destination on this BW system, and reference itself as the gateway. This way, the SAP local gateway on the Enterprise XI server is pointing to one BW system and the BW publishing service is pointing to the other BW system.
- Option 1, as per the IK install guide, is not suggested as it might make the Linux/Unix system unstable. Hence the only option left is to review otpion 2 below.
(Option 2 ) Reference the same SAP gateway for both RFC destinations. This means the RFC destinations created on the two BW systems are referencing one SAP gateway, which is referenced in the BW publishing service.
- This otpion can probably used however i would like to give the background again here.
When the BW publisher server was activated, the following command was issued.
$ ./bwcepub.sh 1 -a(prog id) -g(hostname) -x(sapgw00).
This configuration done later works perfectly fine for users to publish CR to BW and BOE.
Then came the 2nd entitlement system and the following command was issued -
$ ./bwcepub.sh 2 -a(a new prog id) -g(a new hostname) -x(sapgw00).
This action triggered the error that i have captured in this thread originally. However the work around suggested by the SAP note 1206631 needs to be tesed (option 2 above).
Question though - if the same GW host needs to configured for the 2nd entitlement system (as per the SAP notes workaround), the command looks like this:
./bwcepub.sh -a(a new progid -g(same hostname as the first server) -x(same SAP gateway as the first server).
is this correct? i just want to make sure that BW one BOE system can have multiple entitlement systems connected to it (in Linux). Any help / info towards this is highly appreciated.

Hey hi I am just working with Dynamic prompt my requirement is
> When I select country name from ddl i.e India, In the next state field I want to get prompt table regarding indian states
When I select country name from ddl i.e usa, In the next state field I want to get prompt table regarding usa states For this I have created two views on PS_STATE_TBL , to use for prompting
india
SELECT DESCR FROM PS_STATE_TBL WHERE COUNTRY ='IND';
usa
SELECT DESCR FROM PS_STATE_TBL WHERE COUNTRY ='USA' AND DESCR NOT LIKE '%tax';
Next I have written the following code in FieldChange event Evaluate DYNAMIC_TBL1.COUNTRY1
When "I"
DERIVED.EDITTABLE = "RECORD.INDIA_PROMPT_VW";
Break;
When "U"
DERIVED.EDITTABLE = "RECORD.USA_PROMPT_VW";
Break;
When-Other
End-Evaluate;
But from the front end I am getting the following error message
Prompt table in the DERIVED.EDITTABLE is not available. (4,3)
the prompt table for the field for the field is controlled by the contents of another field. this controlling field is not included in the component.Raju,
What do you think about creating a UNION SQL view that has a key field COUNTRY1 with values of I, U, etc? Your view SQL would look something like this:
SELECT 'I', ...
FROM INDIA_PROMPT_VW
UNION
SELECT 'U', ...
FROM USA_PROMPT_VW
...By making the field a key in the prompt, the component processor will automatically add a WHERE clause restriction as long as DYNAMIC_TBL1.COUNTRY1 is listed in the buffer earlier than the prompt field. This works the same way as SETID/BUSINESS_UNIT. -
Made Dynamic Prompts OK, but Static Prompts Still Appear. Why?
<p>Hello All,</p><p>I have a stored procedure that I am using as the basis for a report. This stored procedure has some parameters so the user can customize the report.</p><p>When making the report, Designer gives me some default static Parameter Fields to match the parameters of the stored procedure. When I run the report in preview mode in Designer or in InfoView after publishing, the report correctly presents a page with simple text input fields (one for each parameter) to the user.</p><p>I can successfully convert these Parameter Fields from static to dynamic. However, something odd is happening now. When I try to run the report, whether in preview mode in Designer or in InfoView after publishing, the report will still present the page with simple text input fields to the user. If the user just clicks OK at the bottom of the parameter page, THEN the report presents a page with the appropriate dynamic prompts to the user.</p><p>How can I get the report to skip the page with the simple text input fields and only present the page with the dynamic prompts?</p><p>If anyone can give me an answer to this ASAP, I'll personally see to it that you have a bright sunny day tomorrow.</p><p>Not that I think this should matter, but were on CR XI.</p>
Please re-post if this is still an issue to the Data Connectivity - Crystal Reports Forum or purchase a case and have a dedicated support engineer work with you directly

Unable to view Dynamic Prompts in Crystal Reports through JSP
Hi,
We are using Crystal Reports, SQL Server and Java in our application. We are using JSP to access Crystal Reports from another machine, get them as "ReportClientDocument" objects and then display them using "CrystalReportInteractiveViewer" object. We are able to view reports with Static Paramter values, but when we try to access reports with Dynamic Parameter values the parameter fields are not visible. It doesn't show any error but we can't see the parameter values.
Any help in this regard will be great. Thanks in advance.Hi Ted,
We are using the JAVA SDK to fetch the report. These are the steps we do using java.
- Log in to the Crystal Enterprise
- Get the Report Application Factory from Crystal Enterprise
- Get the InfoStore service from Crystal Enterprise
- Retrieve the report by name from Crystal Enterprise
- Open the report in a ReportClientDocument
- Instantiate a CrystalReportInteractiveViewer
- Get the report source from the ReportClientDocument and set it as source for the CrystalReportInteractiveViewer
- Process the HTTP request to view the report
Please let me know if you need any further info. -
Error Publishing Podcast to ITunes using IWeb
I am getting the following error publishing my podcast to Itunes using Iweb.
We had difficulty reading this feed. Bad http result code: 500
When I checked the rss.xml doc that iweb generates, it is very different from what itunes gives as an example. Do you guys plan on making your software match to the Itunes requirements so that it will post. I can edit and upload the xml file, but when iweb publishes again it will simply change it back to the wrong file.
Is there an update coming? What should I do?Thanks for the suggestion. It seems that from GarageBand the only podcast option is to send it to iWeb. The option exists: "send song" to iTunes, but not "send podcast" directly to iTunes. I don't know if there's a meaningful difference between "song" and "podcast," but I've decided to wait.
I contacted Apple (apparently I haven't yet exhausted my free tech-support options since the purchase of this MacBookPro) and was told that the problem is most likely with iTunes. We'll see what the iTunes team has to say...
Further info I've learned: the audio podcast episode somehow got converted to a ".mov" file somewhere along it's path from being created in GarageBand to it's submission to iTunes. This is still a mystery to me as I specifically chose "MP3" when sending the episode from GarageBand to iWeb. Apple tech-support has passed me along the chain to the iTunes folks who only do tech support via email. So we'll see... -
Hi, I encountered an error when publishing a policy to the clients. The error message is displayed in a dialog box after clicking on "Publish".
"The Management Console was unable to complete the policy assignment. The requested policy assignment has been queued and will be replicated to the Distribution Service during the next scheduled synchronization interval. To review your configured synchronization intervals open the configuration window from the Tools menu."
Can anyone explain the cause and how to resolve it? Thanks.I never saw that error. Default values for infrastructure settings are fine for most implementations.
Anyway, keep posting if you have problems.

I have 3 PCs, 1 running xp sp2 1 running win server 2008 and 1 running
win server 2003. the xp box is the client machine, the server 2008 box
is the AD machine, and the server 2003 box is a single server
installation of ESM.
I have been using the 2nd policy that I created with no issues. I
actually ended up deleting the original policy yesterday afternoon
because it was still giving me that message.
I never did figure out what was causing it, but I needed to move on
with the evaluation so I'm continuing with the 2nd policy and we'll see
how that goes...
Thanks for the reply!!

Error creating dynamic page in an application with a schema other than portal30
Running 9iAS 1.0.2.2 on Solaris.
Database 8.1.7.1
I cannot seem to create a default dynamic page (select 'x' from dual) in an application that has a schema (e.g. test) other
than portal30. The error seems to be when portal tries to compile the dynamic-page package, it references itself from
within the package but prefixing the call with the other (test) schema. It never seems to compile? What seems to be the
problem? Any ideas?If you are using any database object other than the applcation owned,then it has to be prefixed with the schema owner.
For example,
if the application schema is based on the schema "schema1" (say)
and your query is based on one of the object on "schema2"
and if you have necessary privilegves to access that object from schema2, then the compiler wont throw any error.
Can u explain, what u problem you are experiencing in detail?
(Also, if u give me the portal version, I can cross-verify that). -
