Function Outputs showing as Text in PowerPivot Tables

Hello,
I am working with some survey data that has some hierarchical aspects to it, so I have been plugging the results into Power Pivot tables so that I can do my reporting through Power View. Since the data comes back as a count for the number of times a survey
answer was selected, I have to run functions to add the totals and then produce the percentages. the trouble I am having is that all of the fields I calculate in the Excel spreadsheet show up as text when it is converted to Power Pivot. I tried to fix this,
but it will not let me change it to a whole number in the data model. Each time I try to convert the column it gives me this error "type mismatch." The functions I am using are pretty straight forward and I have included them below. Any thoughts
on how I can work around, or fix this would be great. Thanks.
=IF(SUM(G4:I4)>0,SUM(G4:I4),"")
=IFERROR([@[Yes '#]]/[Total],"")

Sorna's answer is correct.
Excel and Power Pivot both recognize an empty string as a string data type. Even though it displays as nothing, an empty cell, in both tools, they recognize it as a string. In Power Pivot, we have the BLANK() function which fills the role of a NULL. Your
type conversion errors are occurring on your empty string entries in the table.

  • IE 10 not showing some text on Table

Some of the texts are not shown on IE10 mode. This occurs on random cells. On page refresh also this occurs again on any other cells randomly. But these texts are shown while selecting IE9 mode on Internet Explorer.
I can see those data on source code. And if I copy and paste on Notepad that table data I can the text  for all the cells.
How to solve this. I need solution for this as soon as possible.
I have used the following code for the above table:
    <table cellspacing="0" border="1" style="border-collapse: collapse;" align="center">

    Hi Rob,
    Thanks for the response.
I checked and the Trace Styles tab does not show the cell having "display:table-cell" style.
This web application uses a standard css to define styles for a <td> tag as such:
    td {font-family: Arial; font-size: 8pt;}
if I add the style you have mentioned as such
    td {font-family: Arial; font-size: 8pt; display:table-cell;}
It still does not show up when I select the <td> cell and check the "Trace Styles" tab.
Am I using the "display:table-cell" incorrectly? Where else should I specify it?
The HTML for the whole web page is huge so I am including just the HTML of the affected part of the page:

Its always the <td> tags with the numeric data in them that disappear.
Please let me know if I should declare the style for every <td> tag? I was under the impression that this style was only relevant for displaying tabular data within <div> tags.
Besides this, is there anything else I can do to mitigate this issue? It is quickly escalating with our customers.
    Thanks for all your help.

  • When entering text into a table letters are very slow to show up.

When I enter text into a table, the text loads VERY slowly. What's that about?

Problem 1: In Table A, when adding or updating data, I want to select data from fields in records based on primary key in other tables. Add and update data works. But my popup "X" list is way too long. I want the popup "X" when adding or
updating record in Table A to only give me the choice of records from Table B that matches the data I entered in a previous field in Table A, not all the records from Table B.
For this question, you can create SortTable screen to sort the data based on table A and table B. is this what you need?

  • In output need bold text

  • Text in internal table with HTML tags.

    Hi ,
I have Text in internal table with HTML tags.
The text has to be shown in output of smartform as formatted text.
That is the smartform should READ the HTML TAGS , convert the text accordingly and show in the output as formatted text.
I dont want to make a webform . This is for NORMAL SPOOL output and NOT for WEB OUTPUT.
    IN SHORT
:- the text in the internal table is like this ( please ignore the dot in the HTML TAG )--
    <html><.U>this is heading</.U>Line with no break<.br>some content text</.br>
    </html>
    OUTPUT
    <U>this is heading</U>Line with no break<br>some content text</br>
    1)  Can I can get the output and store it as text in a string variable and show in the smartform  ?
In this case I want to know how to convert  and store in a variable  in sap .
    OR
    2) Can the text element convert the text with HTML TAGS to html formatted output and show it ?

  • Report / Query to show all texts within all customer master records

    Hi,
Can anyone let me know if there is a report or a query to show all texts within all customer master records?
    Many Thanks
    Aries

    Hello Aries,
I don't believe there is a standard SAP report that does this.
    But,...
You can see all the customer text types (Customer SD) using transaction VOTX.
Table TTXID contains the same info using Text Object "KNVV".
If you decide to have a custom ABAP developed use function READ_TEXT.  SE37 can be used to validate a test.

  • Rich Text Box Issue - Expand to show all Text

    Hi everyone
I'm having a pretty frustrating issue with the rich text box when viewing a line item (not when editing the item, but viewing the item)
I want my rich text box to expand with the text, which I have changed in the options on InfoPath with the "Expand to show all text" scrolling option. However, in IE, the table row will expand, but the actual rich text box will not and I'll have
a scroll bar there and you cant see all of the text at one time. If I look in Chrome, then it works the way I want and I can see all of the lines of text that were entered into the rich text box.
The only solution for IE to work correctly is to change the Display settings to "Enable enhanced rich text content...". But the big issue with that is now you can no longer highlight the text (the highlight disappears right after highlighting it),
and the users will need to copy text from the text box, so it renders the "enhanced" rich text box useless for us
It's kind of a lose-lose situation that I'd love to find the solution for

I guess a better solution would be how can you highlight text from an enhanced rich text box, because changing these to "rich text box" gets rid of font colors in the pre-existing data.
The original problem was that they couldn't highlight text unless they went into edit mode

  • How can I force text in a table to wrap at the margin? Chinese characters result in wide tables.

Hello all ye RoboHelpers out there.
    Background:
We're using RH 9 (latest patch) on Windows 7 machine.
We document in English and then the RH project gets localized into many diff languages and we use that to generate CHM, and Printed outputs.
    The Problem:
In the Chinese language, in printed output, the right border of most tables exeeds well beyond the margin.
Here's what the localized table looks like in the RH editor:
By comparison, here's the equivalent English topic prior to localization:
Our CHM output is fine. In fact, here's what the Chinese looks like in when output to a browser or previewed and I drag the right side to
a narrower width. Notice that the table text appropriately wraps to remain within the window's size:
But here's what it looks like when I generate it in Word's printed output:
Notice the location of the margin at 6.5 inches. It should be wrapping at the margin. And something is weird with the left cell how it's getting pushed so far to the right.
The actual table width ends up around 11 inches! I had some tables last time I did this that were as far out as 18 inches but looked perfectly fine in English!
We use Across Systems for our localization tool, and I've verified that our translators are not messing with the table properties at all; only the text is exposed. One interesting difference I've noticed from other languages, is that Chinese characters do not contain a true space or period characters when we get them back from localization. This makes sentences essentially a really long string of unbroken characters, and I suspect this somehow pushes the generated tables to wide extremes in printed output.
    What I've Tried:
I've tried to change the table properties in Word to auto fit the size of the window.
I've tried setting the width in RH to a specific size and regenerating. Still doesn't help.
I've added in space character and doing that does cause lines to wrap in some cases, but not in all. But I shouldn't have to do this.
I've tried to create a VBA macro in Word to size the tables, but couldn't get it to work.
    What I need:
I need to somehow globally force all the tables' text strings to wrap once they reaches the right margin no mater what, even if the line does not contain space characters. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere, either on the RH side or the Word side that can do this for these long strings of characters?
I really hope someone else has figured out how to deal with this because last time I did this, I had to go through approximately 500 tables and manually do a very convoluted workaround dragging the table handle in Print layout mode back to the right margin to get the table to wrap appropriately. It was a major pain in neck!
Many thanks in a advance for any ideas you might have.

I wonder the Format Tables macros on my site could be adapted?
    http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/word/word_macros.htm
If not, I have used Macro Express to format tables in Rh. No reason it could not be used in Word.

  • How can I use PowerPivot tables like Excel tables -- printing, etc.?

I can't seem to find any information on this anywhere, and even more surprisingly, no one else seems to have even asked this question...
How can I use tables I create in the Excel PowerPivot window in the same ways I use tables that are in ordinary Excel worksheets, to accomplish tasks such as printing? I am able to use the powerful capabilities of PowerPivot to produce tables with precisely
the information I need for reports -- connecting data from multiple tables/sources, filtering, etc. -- but then there doesn't seem to be any way to actually print what I'm seeing, nor can I seem to access cells in these PowerPivot tables from Excel worksheets.
If a PowerPivot table is conceptually an Excel table with additional power in terms of pulling in data and relating it, it would seem appropriate that all the power of Excel could be brought to bear on these PowerPivot tables, but on the contrary, the available
operations are limited. if, instead, a PowerPivot table is more correctly viewed as a data source that Excel worksheets can connect to, that would be fine, and indeed, one
can use a PowerPivot table as a data source -- except it can't be brought into an Excel worksheet as an ordinary Excel table, unlike most other data sources.
I hope I'm missing something really obvious, and that someone can point out what it is. Thanks.

    Kirchh,
When PowerPivot was first designed, the decision was to integrate closely to Sharepoint to allow for team sharing. We are constantly evaluating customer feedback to add more features, and this has been one of the feedbacks we have received. We will consider
supporting this in the future but with no gurantee.

I'm not questioning why PowerPivot is closely integrated with SharePoint. I'm asking why connecting to the PowerPivot model from within Excel was intentionally blocked by Microsoft, when all the functionality to do so appears to be present.
Is creating an OLE DB connection in Excel to PowerPivot as $Embedded$ supported?
No support. It was originally designed for SharePoint. This changed with Power Pivot for Excel 2013 (it's packaged with it). Originally the scope (in 2010 through 2012) was that it was for SharePoint users. So it became more obvious through that to market it
toward all Excel users. Thus the recent changes.

  • Show standard texts on document

    Hi all,
Our customers have the need to show some text on the bottom of some documents (invoice, order confirmation). Normally, I would use SO10 for the text. No problem there.
In general, those texts have a limited time in which they should be printed on the documents. Is there a way (or table) in which you can define texts as well as a start date and/or an ending date?
Any other solution is also welcome
    Thanks.

    Hi Karin,
it just depends on what date is the correct one to check. Todays date is in SY-DATUM always included and always available.
In your case, it is a invoice and I can imagine that the VBRK-ERDAT (date when the invoice is created) or even the VBRK-FKDAT (date when the invoice is booked) maybe also a good solution.
Both fields are included in the structure VBDKR by the way
For your order confirmation have a look in table VBAK / VBDKA. The fields there are ERDAT and AUDAT I think.
The select statement should look something like that:
    Select single ... from     yourtable
                            into     yourstructure
                            where datefrom <= sy-datum
                               and dateto    >= sy-datum.
    IF sy-subrc = 0.
*whatever you want to do now
    ENDIF.

  • Can I export just the "show" conditional text to a mif?

When I export a document with conditional text to a pdf, just the conditional text that is set to "show" (and the unconditional text) appears in the pdf.  That's good, but I want the same thing when exporting a mif.  There are two reasons for this:
    (1)  We have an in-house tool that parses a mif and extracts data from certain tables to populate a database.  The tool doesn't parse pdfs.  And the tool won't always handle conditional text correctly, particularly conditional text table rows.  The tool would work fine if the conditional text were already "resolved" during the export to mif.
    (2)  I'd like to use the Boolean logic for conditional text that is available in FM9, but I need to furnish files to other groups in the company that use FM7.  Their FM7 wouldn't display conditional text properly if it depended on anything other than OR logic.  But they would be happy to accept mif files that didn't have any conditional text because it had been "resolved" when I generated a mif7 file for them.
I've tried various ways to convert a pdf into a mif file, but no process seems to preserve the formatting and the editable text. I'd be willing to accomplish this in some round-about fashion involving Framemaker, Acrobat Pro and/or some other tool.
But the happiest outcome for me would be to discover that FM9 already has the ability to export just the "show" conditional text and the unconditional text to a mif.
Or can this be done by making a copy of the document and then somehow automating the deletion of the "hide" conditional text and the conversion of the "show" conditional text to unconditional?

Or can this be done by making a copy of the document and then somehow automating the deletion of the "hide" conditional text and the conversion of the "show" conditional text to unconditional?
Writing a custom script to filter the MIF to parse out the conditions is non-trivial. You can try a Google search for an existing filter or script that does the job. However, if there is no such thing, then you're on the right track, getting FM to do the hard part - filtering the conditionalized content correctly. For example:
    * In a copy of the original file, delete the condition(s) you want to hide; during the deletion, you have the option to delete the corresponding text. Then save as MIF to a descriptive name, or save as .fm to a new name, then open and save that file as MIF. Close the source file without saving.
    * Reopen the source file and do the same process from this fresh instance, deleting the condition(s) you want to show. Save as above.
    * Within FM itself, however, there's no way to automate this process. With one of the free FM utilities - dobatch from cudspan, or dzbatcher from datazone - you can script opening and saving an FM file as MIF. Search Google for dobatch, cudspan, dzbatcher, or datazone.
    * To automate setting the conditions, a keystroke-macro recorder might serve, otherwise you'd need the commercial FrameScript product, and a customized script if there's no existing script for this purpose. For FrameScript info, check with Rick Quattro at frameexpert.com.
    * If you're using Structured FrameMaker and have the expertise available to customize an EDD, you could take advantage of the "filter by attribute" feature, but it's not trivial to adopt Structured FM just for this narrowly-focused need.
