Future of Sun's "Bean Builder" for JavaBeans?

Hi all:
Does anyone have ideas what the plans for the future of Sun's Bean Builder (JavaBeans) might be. This was put in Beta in Jan 2002 and I can't see any evidence of work done after that data. Form searches don't come up with a lot of positive comments.
What would you use as an IDE for developing and testing JavaBeans?
Are there any Open Source repository of JavaBeans?
Thanks all
Bill

Bean Builder doesn't help much with building beans (bizarrely) but rather is more useful for testing them. More oddly, it tries to save beans as XML, and I can't get forte/sunone/netbeans to import these...
I think if it was going anywhere, you would know by now...

  • Bean Builder - no juggler

    Hello,
I've just installed Bean Builder. In the run.bat file, I changed USE_JAVA=c:\jdk1.4 to USE_JAVA=c:\j2sdk1.4.1_05 which meant I finally got the thing started!...
But there's no sign of juggler bean anywhere - as described in the on-line tutorial. I've searched through the forum and no-one else seems to have this problem. I'm guessing it's one of three things:
    1. I need to change something else in the run.bat file
    2. I need to download something else as well
    3. I am not starting the application correctly (I am just double-clicking on the run.bat icon. (I'm using Win XP.))
    4. I've unzipped beanbuilder-1_0-beta.zip into the wrong place
    5. The juggler bean is there somewhere but I'm too stupid to see it!
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    James

you have to clearly distinguish the difference between
BDK (Bean Development Kit) and BeanBuilder.
    They are 2 different packages.
After seeing what you wrote you seems to have downloaded BeanBuilder which
MUST NOT have the Juggler bean contained, while BDK has.
To download BDK (strongly advice for version 1.1, the earlier version seems
    to have some problems)
    http://java.sun.com/products/javabeans/software/bdk_download.html
    tutorial for BDK is here:
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/javabeans/TOC.html
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/javabeans/
For BeanBuilder, download from here :
    http://java.sun.com/products/javabeans/beanbuilder/
tutorial for beanbuilder is here :
    http://java.sun.com/products/javabeans/beanbuilder/1.0/docs/guide/tutorial.html
Hope I can get the Duke Dollars.
    Thanks !!

  • How to use Bean Builder????

How can I start the Bean Builder app.Do I have to connect to the Internet to use it.

    hi
You need to install a bean developer kit to run the applications. for that u can install BDk developed by sun microsystem and download the same from the url www.java.sun.com/bean and install in the system. run the batch file in that directory provided. say u hav installed in bdk directory u get the batch file bdk-beanbox and run it and ull get a beanbox. to that beanbox u add ur programs to run the applications.
    hope this helps u

  • Lightning 1.0 build for the Thunderbird 3b4 build for Solaris 10?

I use Thunderbird as my primary email client because quite frankly the version of Evolution in Solaris 10 is awful.
I posted to the mozilla.support.calendar list over in google groups some months ago asking what happened to the Solaris builds of Lightning
    http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.support.calendar/browse_thread/thread/12e27450b2cc67e0/7877dde2ace2ebf2
Essentially they said Sun used to provide servers to build Lightning on and now they don't. What does it take to get Sun to provide those again?
Evolution 1.46 is atrocious. 1999 called and wants there email client back....
The latest build for Solaris is Lightning 0.9. Of course the project itself has moved on to 1.0+. 0.9 still works with Thunderbird 2. Thunderbird 3 while still in beta is already so much better than Thunderbird 2, but it requires Lightning 1.0 builds. You can download Sun contributed builds of Thunderbird and Firefox from the mozilla releases site. Why not build recent Lightning builds so people can actually use their Sun calendar with the Sun contributed version of Thunderbird?

A similar question was asked w.r.t. 64-bit Linux builds:
"Dan, regarding 64bit nightlys, this is somewhat dependant on Thunderbird itself having 64 bit nightlys. We will surely have contrib builds with 64 bits for releases though."
The latest build for Solaris is Lightning 0.9. Of course the project itself has moved on to 1.0+. The project has not hit 1.0 release (or beta) yet.

  • Dynamic Java bean classes for XSD using JAVA (not any external batch or sh)

    Hi,
How can we generate dynamic Java bean classes for XSD (dynamically support All XSD at runtime)?
Note: - Through java code via only needs to generate this process. (Not using any xjc.bat or xjc.sh from JAXB).
    Thanks

    Muthu wrote:

Pretty sure you can't. Probably can do a lot of them with years of work.
And can probably can do a resonable subset suitable for the business at hand with only a moderate effort.
Note: - Through java code via only needs to generate this process. (Not using any xjc.bat or xjc.sh from JAXB).The Sun jdk, not jre, comes with the java compiler as part of it. You can create in memory class (I believe in memory) based on java code you create.
I believe BCEL alllows the same thing (in memory) but you start with byte codes.
You could just create a dynamic meta data solution as well, via maps and generic methods. Not as fast though.

  • Form Builder for Oracle 9i

    Hey greetings all
i am using oracle 9i and now wish to make interfaces for my database project using any form builder. The first option was to use form builder for oracle 9i but i have heard that its tought to learn and heavy on system. now 2nd option in my mind is to use oracle developer 6i. can anybody suggest what shall i use? my project is not very complex or bigger. i just need simple interfaces for it. plz give suggestions. Thanks in anticipation.

    Hi ,
It depends on the type of application you want to have....an application on web environement automatically or an application in client-server environment which ,of course , can be run in Web but Oracle Application Server is needed with some configuration steps...
Also , the Oracle Form Builder 6i is the last version of Forms which the produced runtime file (.fmx) runs on non-Web environment...and some time in the future Oracle will stop to support it....!!!!!
its tought to learn and heavy on systemIt has some wizards... which can help you very much in your productivity and of course in the learning of this tool.....
It is not considered much more heavy to the system....
NOTE: Just another thought...If the application is very simple and needs to be accessible form just a few people in a room , then Oracle Forms 6i may be sufficient ...!!!!

    Simon

  • Avoiding request scope bean clashes for task flow calls

    Hi,
I have two task flows, Tf1 calls Tf2 using a task flow call activity. The structures of the task flows are as follows:
    Tf1
      Managed Bean: TfBean, request scope
        class Tf1Bean
          has property goTf2Button
      View: View1
        Button bound to #{TfBean.goTf2Button}
Action -> task flow call to Tf2
    Tf2
      Managed Bean: TfBean, request scope
        class Tf2Bean
          has property testButton
      View: View2
        Button bound to #{TfBean.testButton}
As you can see both have a request scope bean called TfBean but these are different classes in each. The bean classes have different properties for binding the components on the two pages.
When I click the button in View1 to navigate I get an error telling me that class Tf1Bean does not have the property testButton. Clearly Tf2Bean is not being instantiated as TfBean already exists for the request.
I'm guessing this is expected behaviour and it seems logical.
My question however is what would be good standards or practices to avoid this?
One way would be a naming convention, however what if I am consuming Tf2 from a library? In this case it would ideally work as a black box and I should not be concerned about it's implementation, specifically names chosen for internal managed beans. Even if it was not a problem initially, the developer of the task flow could add or change the name of a request scope bean introducing a conflict at a later stage.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hi Frank,
Good to meet you at UKOUG Tech13 yesterday. I changed my test case from request scope to backing bean scope. Unfortunately I still get the same error:
    <RichExceptionHandler> <_logUnhandledException> ADF_FACES-60098:Faces lifecycle receives unhandled exceptions in phase RENDER_RESPONSE 6

    ...etc.
What I think is happening, please correct me if I'm wrong...
Running Tf1, page View1 is displayed.
Clicking the button on View1 initiates a request and an instance of Tf1Bean is instantiated for the managed bean named TfBean.
During the request navigation occurs to Tf2 and hence page View2.
View2 needs a property in TfBean called testButton.
There is already a managed bean instantiated for this request called TfBean, however this is of class Tf1Bean and does not have the property.
I have a simple workspace showing this if you want me to send it to you. I am using 11.1.2.4 by the way.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • My first PC build for video editing purposes

I have done some research into building my own video editing PC. I want to spend about 800 pounds. I will list some of the components I have so far. Any suggestion would be welcomed and appreciated.
    ASRock Z77 Extreme6 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) Motherboard - £159.98
    4 x Kingston 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM Memory - £12.76 each
For CPU I am going to wait for the Ivy Bridge Core 17 to come out
PNY nVIDIA Geforce GTX 570 Graphics Card with 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express
    £210.97
I have heard that it does not matter how fast the RAM is but it is more important how much you have. My Mobo can take 2800 Mhz. I have also heard that the graphic card is important when video editing. It acts as a secondary CPU which enhances the performance.
Is all the above information correct?
    Thanks
    Dominic

I have ordered most of my components for pc build for video editing purposes. Here is the list. Any critism would be welcome.
    MOTHERBOARD
    AsRock Z77 Extreme6 Motherboard (Socket 1155, Intel Z77, Up to 32GB DDR3, ATX, USB 3.0, 4 x SATA3 6.0 Gb/s, 7.1 CH HD Audio with Content Protection)

The only thing left to buy are the hard drives. I have decided on a system  of a
C: Boot drive 500 gb (7200) for the OS
Pair of drives in RAID 2 x 2 tb
    E: Export drive. Single (7200) 3 tb
Somebody suggested to me that I should get SSD. However, am I right in saying that these drives, although fast, are too small for video editing purposes and also too expensive? Perhaps I should wait until they get bigger and less expensive. A future upgrade.
Thanks for any comments in advanced

  • Please consider a build for WebOS

After the firesale the HP Touchpad holds the #2 place in market share. Please reconsider porting a build to webOS.
It is a true multitasking, user friendly os with a loyal following of innovative, free-thinking (non-lemming) users. (Much like Mozila if you think about it)
I've used WebOS since its early days, was an early adopter of PreFox but it does not play well with the most recent webOS build.
Please throw together a minimalist build of Firefox for your loyal users!!

James; although I appreciate the response you did not address the points I raised:
My question respectfully (and specifically) addressed the option of a webOS build.
    1) ''''Palm webOS"''
We currently have no plans to develop Firefox for the Palm Pre/webOS platform...'' .
The quote to which you refer states "currently" leaving the future option option. I am merely asking for consideration.
    2) The iPad does not run webOS as a native OS. (Superior hardware will always run software better, I fail to see your point here. The Touchpad is not cutting edge but IS better than most of the third-party Android anony-tablets)
    3) I addressed the third-party version at Fractalbrew (i.e. PreFox). It was an interesting experiment but not an answer.
    4) The whole point of owning the Touchpad is to run webOS. If I had wanted an Android tablet, the chances are better than even I would OWN an Android tablet, use the Android version and be content. I was an early webOS adapter with my Pre, waited for the tablet.
I have 3 Win7 boxes, 2 Win7 notebooks with another running XP, an HPTouchpad, Win7 netbook, Android phone, Pre and a MacBook Pro. Firefox is my browser of choice across the board. I would love to have it on every connected device I use.
....how about a build for my Chumby?

  • Updating my .ipa in DPS App Builder for testing is not working

    Hi there,
I've build my .ipa file in DPS App Builder for testing on my iPad before I publish it to the app store. No problem. I tested it and saw some modifications to make. I made the changes on my folio, updated it in the folio builder of indesign (on the cloud). Then I get back to DPS App Builder and rebuild an .ipa file from the "Manage" and "Modify" windows, it download and test my certifates, seems to work ok. Then I've created the new .ipa file (after erasing the old one on my desktop and iTunes) but when I synch it back on my iPad it's not updated. It's still the first version of my folio without the changes.
I tried to create a new app from the beginning but the single edition serial number does not work anymore. So my only solution is to update my folio, right? But what is the right way to do it? Am I missing something? I didn't find any answer in the step by step guide about that.
Or is it possible to delete completly the first version in DPS App Builder to recreate it without losing my single edition serial number as I didn't submit it to Apple yet?
Do I have something to do in the Folio Producer?
    Thanks for your help.
    Julien.

Single Edition Serial is one time use thus modification is not possible from your end directly in case you wish to use the same serial number. For such cases you need to contact DPS Support, who can get an approval on a serial number reset after reviewing the need.
In this case, I'll take this offline with you in reference to forum post # http://forums.adobe.com/message/5597607.

  • XML Publisher Template Builder for Adobe Acrobat

Need a XML Publisher Template Builder for adobe acrobat as is available for word.

I did so.. however, publisher is not able to substitute xsl syntax by the actual value..
    eg.
i had a <?X_PO_NUM?> in word (either using text field or manually writing this..) and i converted the word doc into pdf using third party s/w..
when i uploaded this template pdf with sample data file using xmlp admin repsonsibility, and tried to preview the output,
    substitution is not happening..
the requirement here is, to have some input fields in final PDF output for which report-users should be able to type values in.
for which I assume initial template has to be in PDF itself..
any ideas or pointers will be much appreciated..

  • Release Build for Dev vs. Production environment

I'm working on a very small project that performs an LDAP
search using a CFC on our Dev box. The folder structure between
Development and Production are the same so when I create a release
build and copy it from the dev environment to the production server
I get a "send" error on the client. The compiled release build is
copied to the same folder structure location as it was on the dev
box, but I believe the application is still trying to point to the
dev box ip address vs. the production server address. How do I
handle exporting a release build for a different server than the
    one I'm developing on?

How is your classpath build up?
    if it's like this:
    SET CLASSPATH=c:\prod;c:\dev
    try
    SET CLASSPATH=c:\prod
    CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;c:\dev
if that doesn't work try setting your classpath to nothing:
    SET CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%
Please tell me if this helped, I've had a lot of problems with my PATH and CLASSPATH to, and I ain't sure I gave the solution. So please reply to let me know this is the answer or not.

  • How to find out the differences in minor builds for components?

    Hello,
We use crystal 10 included in a vb6 application for reports design and viewing. When we changed our installshield version, for a reason I haven't understood yet, our versions of all the crystal components changed with it. This got identified as a problem with some minor difference in a small bit of functionality, what I'm now looking for is to know what changes were made between the builds for these components. If it's very minor changes that will not affect us we will leave these components as they are, if there are any major changes that will affect us we can either test their impact or make the decision to revert to all the old versions and re-release the software.
I've spent just under an hour looking for the information but to no success, this forum really helped me out before with a weird crystal problem we were getting so thought I'd try here!
These are all from the Ciphr Install\Common\Crystal Decisions\2.5\bin directory.
