When I'm using FWSM in transparent mode and with more than one bvi what is the source IP of syslog messages?
Is it the IP of bvi that it uses to reach the syslog server?

Multiple VLANSs with 1 bridge group for DLSw+

I am working on a network with a DLSw+ on a 6500 MSFC with multiple VLANs. There is one bridge group and it is mapped to DLSw + and to each VLAN. It is working, but I want to know if there is an and advantage placing each VLAN in it's own bridge group and mapping each bridge group to DLSw+.
I have an example of the config I am referring to below: I would appreciate any feedback or comments on this.

When the router receives bridged packet whose destination MAC address is not on the router's bridge table, the router will flood the packet to all the VLANs if all the VLANs are on the same bridge group. Similary, the router forwards broadcast traffic to all VLANs.
If different VLANs are under different bridge group, the traffic mentioned above is noly forwarded to DLSw.l

Unable To Select From SQL Server table with more than 42 columns

I have set up a link between a Microsoft SQL Server 2003 database and an Oracle 9i database using Heterogeneous Services (HSODBC). It's working well with most of the schema I'm selecting from except for 3 tables. I don't know why. The common denominator between all the tables is that they all have at least 42 columns each, two have 42 columns, one has 56, and the other one, 66. Two of the tables are empty, one has almost 100k records, one has has 170k records. So I don't think the size of the table matters.
Is there a limitation on the number of table columns you can select from through a dblink? Even the following statement errors out:
select 1
from "Table_With_42_Cols"@sqlserver_db
The error message I get is:
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message [Generic Connectivity Using ODBC]
ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from sqlserver_db

Not a very efficient and space friendly design to do name-value pairs like that.
Other methods to consider is splitting those 1500 parameters up into groupings of similar parameters, and then have a table per group.
Another option would be to use "vertical table partitioning" (as oppose to the more standard horizontal partitionining provided by the Oracle partition option) - this can be achieved (kind of) in Oracle using clusters.
Sooner or later this name-value design is going to bite you hard. It has 1500 rows where there should be only 1 row. It is not scalable.. and as you're discovering, it is unnatural to use. I would rather change that table and design sooner than later.

I think that your syntax is wrong. The (+) operator should be on the right hand table column, not the left hand table column if you want all rows on the left hand table column. If this syntax is really what you want, you can create underlying views for each join condiction.

How to make transparant images with more then 8 bit color?

I know that one can use *.gif images in order to make a transparent image. But *.gif images have only 8 bit color depth. Is there a way to display for example *.bmp images and making one color transparent? Or by using a mask like in C++?

Use the PNG format for your images. It supports a color depth of 24 bits/pixel as well as 8 bits/pixel and got an alpha layer so you can have transparent and semi-transparent areas in your image.
You can load PNG images in Java as easily as you do with GIF and JPG images.

How to find the database details from server audit specification with successfull login group?

Hi,
We have created a server audit for successfull logins.When we read the audit file using
sys.fn_get_audit_file we find that all the fields related to the databases
ie database_principal_id,database_principal_name,database_name are either 0 or null.
Is there a method to find out to which database the login is accessing from the server
audit specification of successfull login group.Although the logins are reading and writing
data to the databases why there are no details of the databases?

Hello Binny,
The logins are used to connect to the instance and the access to the databases is performed via database users. So, once you connect to the instance via your login, the server level audit takes this action, records it, but without caring to which databases
you want to connect after that.
Unfortunately there is no similar action group on the database audit specifications, that can track which user connected to the DB, except if you are using contained databases in SQL 2012.
Probably you can share why you need such information and if there is something else specific that you wish to achieve, so we can propose a different solution/audit configuration.

Import AP Invoices with more than one Prepayment Application

We have a requirement to import AP Invoices from the legacy system with more than one prepayment application to the invoice.
The AP_INVOICES_INTERFACE table provides only one column for Prepayment Number. Also, more than one line can not be created for the same invoice number.
Is there any solution to the above situation?

Transparent firewall with failover with multiple contexts

                   I am running 8.4(2) on ASA5585s. They are in mulitble context mode and set to transparent firewall with active/active failover. When I do a sh failover in a context I see 2 of my interfaces are (waiting). I have a BVI and these are the ip addresses on the interfaces in he "sh failover" below.

Why are the interfaces in (waiting)?

Are you able to ping between the interfaces? ie: can you ping x.x.x.165 from x.x.x.164 and visa versa? If you are not able to ping it, that means there is no connectivity between the 2, hence the status is in Normal (Waiting) because it has not received the hello packet on that corresponding interface.

You can backup your current iPad, and then restore the new iPad from that backup (a list of what is included in a backup is in this article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4079 - it excludes music, videos, synced photos). As the backup doesn't contain the actual apps, just their settings and content, for the restore to work completely you'll need all the relevant apps in your computer's iTunes library - otherwise the restore won't be able to install the apps and therefore their content (if you don't have the apps on your computer then you can re-download them for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519)
Restoring onto a different device won't restore passwords so you'll need to enter your router and email passwords and any passwords stored on websites.

When logging onto a web site with a log on name firefox is changing logon name from Kostas to kostas as the site is case sensitive it is not acceptable. how do I correct this? Thanks

When I later tried to log onto the web site to say thankyou ,and enter Kostas in the log on box a reminder appears created by Firefox of kostas, I ignore this, move to the password box and firefox changes the log on name to kostas with small k. The register is case sensitive so for quite a while I could not understand what was going wrong? I eventually managed to log on by using a rival system
My previous experience is that if you use a different log on name it is recorded and then you choose the correct one to use? But in this case I am given no choice

Replication with more than one naming context ?

well, i want to replace our very old OID installation with OUD (for Oracle Database Net services) but i'm facing one more problem.
I have 2 naming context dc=my,dc=domain,dc=org and dc=world.
I have created the dc=world with ODSM (Configuration->Create local naming context for Oracle Database Net services).
I'm able to query entries in each context.
So i decided to install an other server for HA and using replication.
I installed on the second server with same option and same procedure (stand alone and for Oracle Database Net services).
I created the dc=world on the second server.
Then i used dsconfig to create replication server on port 8989 on both server.
I created new Replication Domain for my two contexts with dsconfig -> replication -> synchronisation provider->Replication Domain Management menu -> Create new replication domain.
The list option show me the two domains.
But when i'm doing a dsreplication->enable replication, i only have cn=OracleContext or dc=my,dc=domain,dc=org or cn=OracleContext,dc=my,dc=domain,dc=org.
No trace of dc=world or cn=OracleContext,dc=world.
Is it possible to replicate several naming contexts and what is the procedure to do that ?
Even with ODSM and topology manager, i only see the dc=my,dc=domain,dc=world.

Sorry, there's not an easy way to copy or share the entire error log from Firefox for Android. To copy an individual log entry, you can press-and hold on the text to bring up a menu.
This add-on has support for exporting various other debugging data from Firefox mobile. We've talked about adding support for the error logs in a future version. If you would like to help add that support, the source code is on GitHub:

Missing log from fwsm

Hi,
I noticed that some of our fwsm traffic log is not appearing in the syslog server. I noticed in the show logging queue, it's reporting discard messages like below:
fwsm# sh logg que

Current 512 msg on queue, 512 msgs most on queue
fwsm# sh logg que

Does anyone know what it mean by this ? I have tried to increase the queue to 2048 but after a few minutes, it start to fill up and discard message counter increase. I tried to set unlimited but the Current Msg counter keep increment without going down. Does this mean the fw is dropping or the syslog server is too slow to serve ?
Any comments or ideas are welcome

Hi,
Disable local logging ...
Only test with logging trap 4 and then with trap 7.
Check your logging server and check trough a repeated ping if the connection is not dropping.
