I've tried the same stuff with the latest OC4J version available 9.0.3 Preview and it works!

I paste the code there and Run it and nothing happens, I don't see any OUTPUT, what am I doing wrong, or am I doing everything right and just need permissions from the Admin ?As you were given the solution without explanation, let me try and do the latter. PL/SQL runs on/inside the database server. That server process is a background process. No keyboard. No mouse. No screen. So the PL/SQL code cannot interact with the end-user. PL/SQL code can never be interactive code (reading keyboard input, displaying output on a screen).
What PL/SQL does have is a package (very primitive) called DBMS_OUTPUT. It allows PL/SQL code to write text data into a text buffer.
A client, like TOAD or SQL*Plus, can thus execute (via a call to the database), PL/SQL code. Using DBMS_OUTPUT, PL/SQL code can write into this text buffer. (all this happens inside that database server process servicing your client session)
When the call is completed, the client can now make another call - and call DBMS_OUTPUT and tell it "+give me that buffer's contents+". The client can then display that contents of that buffer to the end-user.
The command SET SERVEROUTPUT ON instructs SQL*Plus to do exactly this. After making a call to the database server, make another call to DBMS_OUTPUT and display the contents of anything in the buffer (and of course, clear the buffer).
Similarly, you have options in clients like TOAD (clicking a button, setting a parameter in the client's options window, etc) and others.
One thing to remember though about using DBMS_OUTPUT. It is not interactive. The client displays the contents after the PL/SQL process has completed. It is primitive ito max linesize, data types it can handle, and so on. Yes, it can be very useful.. but at the same time, there are a number of restrictions that you need to be aware of when using DBMS_OUTPUT.

  • Question about using OC4J in a webservice test

    Hi,
    I'm new in Java,and Web service world. In my company we have 9i Oracle Database with a large application developed in Forms, now they are creating a new corporate website and want to communicate with DB via Webservices.
    We want to do a 'Concept test' with a PL/SQL procedure to be deployed as a webservice to OC4J in a personal computer, then try to access this webservice from the internet corporate website).
    Our questions are.
    1.- Are We in a right path?
    2.- OC4J embbed version is good enough to working as a web-J2EE server and run this test.
    3.- What kind of configuration we have to keep in mind to make our webservice 'visible' from the internet.
    4.- Is there any white-paper you recommend..
    Thanks!
    John.

    2000 concurrent sessions...now that would require quite a big application server farm if you are using forms for this project. As you have experience in PL/SQL and none in Java/ADF the decision shouldn't be that hard. Java is an Object Oriented language whereas PL/SQL is procedural which means quite different ways of doing things when you e.g. want to write APIs. If you don't have any expierience in any Object Oriented language starting off with a quite big project in java might not be a good idea. This doesn't mean that you shouldn't learn java at all, but when learning a new language you usually start with a "Hello World" application, and not with writing a operating system with that language.
    APEX on the other hand is plain PL/SQL and not just for small websites; a good sample is the asktom site; it is written in APEX and I guess it has a fair amount of traffic.
    So APEX has some benefits
    - you have already knowledge in house
    - you are familiar with the language
    - APEX doesn't require an application server license; you can use oracle XE and if you don't want to expose the database to the www use a plain apache server to handle the http request
    So if it were me, APEX would be the way to go.
    cheers

  • Creating webservice for pl/sql API without using BPEL

    Hi All,
    Using BPEL, We have created partner links using DB Adapter for accessing our pl/sql API's.
    Is there any way to create a web service for a pl/sql API having complex datatype parameters like (Record, table of records etc) using DB Adapter or any other tool without using BPEL?
    Thanks,
    Uma.

    We introduced the use of JPublisher to automate the generation of wrappers for PL/SQL procedures that use types such as boolean, record and table. The wizard will invoke JPub and generate artifacts that the partnerlink will use to invoke the wrapper instead of the original API. Boolean is replaced by INT, record is replaced by an object type and table is replaced by a nested table. The wrapper will invoke the original API. JPub also takes care of converting between the different types (i.e. record <-> object).

  • Document style webservice

    Hello
    I have created a document style webservice, the method signature takes Element as argument and returns elements back. ( i guess this is the limitation of using Document Style Web Service, as I would have rather prefered to have a complex type JAVABEAN as an argument)
    Now going ahead, i have deployed this service to OC4J server and when I create the Stub at the client side, the return type of the method gets convered to Vector instead of Element.
    Can anyone help me out how to get the Element return type back at the stub end.
    Any help will highly be appreciated.
    Also is there is a way to create a complex type Webservice using Document style ?
    prab

    Hello,
    It is possible with OracleAS 10.1.3 out of the box.
    Which release are you using?

  • Invalid security error when invoking secure webservice using SAML tokens

    I have deployed a JAX-WS webservice using a stateless session bean to wl 10.3.2 that uses a custom policy. The service deploys fine, but weblogic returns an HTTP error 500 with a SOAP fault. The fault states wsse:InvalidSecurity. The webservice security policy reqires SAML holder of key assertions and attributes. I have tried everything from running weblogic with Metro 1.5 to configuring SAML Identity Asserter Providers, etc with no luck. I even tried using the built in SAML 2.0 assymetric holder of key policy. What am I doing wrong? The XML of interest is attached.
    Thanks;
    -Dave.

    Hi
    yes, I had the same issue and I found a solution.
    You need to request a patch for BUG 9212862 (already corrected in WLS 10.3.3) and do the follwing:
    javax.xml.ws.BindingProvider provider = (javax.xml.ws.BindingProvider)port;
    java.util.Map context = provider.getRequestContext();
    context.put(weblogic.wsee.jaxrpc.WLStub.POLICY_COMPATIBILITY_PREFERENCE, weblogic.wsee.jaxrpc.WLStub.POLICY_COMPATIBILITY_MSFT);
    This will cause the SecurityMessageArchitect class of WLS to not send the SecurityTokenReference in the Soap security header.
    Please note that is evidently a non-comformity to the specs of microsoft:
    Please give a look at
    http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-soap-message-security-1.0.pdf (8.3 Signing Tokens)
    and also at:
    http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/16768/wss-v1.1-spec-os-SAMLTokenProfile.pdf
    (3.4 Identifying and Referencing Security Tokens)
    A SAML key identifier reference MUST be used for all (local and remote) references to SAML 1.1
    assertions. [...]
    All conformant implementations MUST be able to process SAML assertion references occurring in a
    <wsse:Security> header or in a header element other than a signature to acquire the corresponding
    assertion. A conformant implementation MUST be able to process any such reference independent of the
    confirmation method of the referenced assertion.
    It follows that the .NET 3.5 is a non conformat implementation: I would gladly know which is the position of Microsoft on that.
    ciao

    Where does the HTML indicate that the Service is not running??
    The error message " The content type text/html; charset=utf-8 of the response message does not match
    the content type of the binding (text/xml; charset=utf-8)" points to a bug in the WCF-BasicHttp described here:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/11796bf5-ba6a-4878-977e-5c854642f67c/the-content-type-textxml-charsetiso88591-of-the-response-message-does-not-match-the-content?forum=biztalkgeneral
    Although not 100% the same, the conclusion here was to still use the old Adapter :-(

  • Error while trying to access WebService using WSIF

    Hi All,
    I am a new developer to WebServices. I read up information on how to create the WSDL and stubs using JDev 10g (10.1.2) using the wsa.jar that ships with the download. After creating my WSDL and the necessary proxies, when I try to run my client application (which runs in the same covatiner, standalone OC4j), I get the below error :
    06/09/29 13:42:21 org.apache.wsif.WSIFException: org.apache.wsif.providers.ejb.WSIFOperation_EJB@15b0c83 : Could not invoke 'getOrderList'; nested exception is:
    org.apache.wsif.WSIFException: Error while determining signature of method getOrderList : The meta information is not consistent.; nested exception is:

    06/09/29 13:42:21 at $Proxy3.getOrderList(Unknown Source)
    I am trying to expose a Stateless Session EJB as a WebService, which contains a method called getOrderList(). This method returns an array of a complex type (Java Bean).
    I am, however, able to succesfully access the WebService using the SOAP/HTTP protocol.
    My client code is as follows:
    WSIFServiceFactory factory = WSIFServiceFactory.newInstance();
    WSIFService service = factory.getService("<path to wsdl>", null, null, "http://sample.com/", "OrderService");
    orderService = (OrderService) service.getStub("WsifEjb", OrderService.class);
    Not sure what am I missing here. If any further information is required in order to resolve this, please let me know.
    Thanks,

    You are trying to get 2 databases connected... so, you need to insure that FDEV can find and connect to ABCD.
    So, from your FDEV database server, you can do 2 things (from command prompt):
    1* tnsping ABCD (this will validate that the entry exists in your tnsnames.ora on your FDEV server, and that a valid listener can be found on remote server)
    when above command succeeds:
    2* sqlplus apps/appsdev@ABCD;
    when you have established the connection, then you are SURE that your can connect ABCD database from FDEV database server. It will also validate the username / password combination, create session privilige, account not locked, etc.....
    Please check the above, and post here the results.

    Thierry

    Could some one please point me to a tutorial and let me know how to consume a webservice using Jdev.
    Scenario is, I want to extract data from Webserice which will be given by other department using Jdev.
    This will have basic authentication as well.
    I have created a Webservice client and Proxy and provided the WS URL, it is creating several files using Jax-WS Style.
    Now I want to test this webservice client, if its working fine and able to send us the data.
    Thanks

  • SOURCING10: Passing parameters to a Query Based webservice using JAVA

    Hi Experts,
    I have been working on consuming a Query based webservice published in Souricng10 in a simple JAVA class. The query has a filter parameter which is not mandatory. I am able to consume the webservice using the GET method and display the content of the webservice. But when i try to POST a value to the filter parameter of the query i am getting the following error:
    java.io.IOException : Server returned HTTP response code: 415 for URL: http://sapcild9.web.bc:55000/sourcing/ngservices/rest/query/Z_TEST_WS_QUERY/execute/
    at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(Unknown Source)
    Following is the code which i have used:
       URL url = new URL("http://sapcild9.web.bc:55000/sourcing/ngservices/rest/query/Z_TEST_WS_QUERY/execute/");
       HttpURLConnection connection = (HttpURLConnection)url.openConnection();
       connection.setRequestProperty("Authorization", "Basic " + authStringEnc);
       connection.setRequestProperty("Content-Type","application/x-www-form-urlencoded; charset=UTF-8");
       connection.setRequestProperty("Content-Length", "" +Integer.toString(urlParameters.getBytes().length));
       connection.setRequestProperty("Content-Language", "en-US");
       connection.setUseCaches (false);
       connection.setDoInput(true);
       connection.setDoOutput(true);
       connection.setAllowUserInteraction(true);
       connection.setInstanceFollowRedirects(false);
       connection.setRequestMethod("POST");
       connection.connect();
       //Send request
       OutputStream out = connection.getOutputStream();
       OutputStreamWriter wr= new OutputStreamWriter(out, "UTF-8");
       wr.write("EXTERNAL_ID");
       wr.write("=");
       wr.write(URLEncoder.encode("temp","UTF-8"));
       wr.close();
       out.close();
       is = connection.getInputStream();
       isr =new InputStreamReader(is);
       BufferedReader bufferReader = new BufferedReader(isr);
       String str; StringBuffer stringBuffer = new StringBuffer();
       while ((str = bufferReader.readLine()) != null) {
       stringBuffer.append(str);
       stringBuffer.append("\n");
       System.out.println(stringBuffer.toString());
       connection.disconnect();
       is.close();
    Please Advise how to proceed on this isssue?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Gael,
    your URL is made up of :
    [ProcedureName]?[parameter1]=[value1]&[parameter2]=[value2]
    creating URLs like this can have problems especially with spaces and punctuation.
    the answer is a FORM
    the following will create a hidden form :
    FORM ACTION="[ProcedureName]" METHOD="POST" name="F1"
    INPUT type="HIDDEN" name="[parameter1]" value="[value1]"
    INPUT type="HIDDEN" name="[parameter2]" value="[value2]"
    /FORM
    you can set the values in the form using:
    document.F1.[parameter1].value="abc123%%&&$$!";
    document.F1.submit();
    will submit the form and the PL/SQL procedure should receive the text as it was contained in the form.
    the only characters that can now cause problems are :
    " as it delimits the field.
    ' as it may cause problems in PL/SQL.
    \ as it is a special character.

    For creating Web Services, you won't need to do the MS SQL Part explained in my doc. You can just concentrate on the part where i explain how to create a Web Service using an EJB.

  • Developing Portable WebServices using Jdeveloper

    I am currently using Jdeveloper 10.1.3.2 and I have developed WebServices from my existing WSDL files and deployed the WebServices in OC4J. Everything is working fine now. I noticed that Jdeveloper has created some OC4J specific files like oracle-webservice.xml. Now I want this working WebService Application to be deployed to another Application Server. I am sure it would fail.
    My Question is,
    1) How can I devlop Web Services using Jdeveloper which can be deployed in any App Server?
    2) Will Jdev 11g with JAX-WS will be helpful?
    3) Is there any tutorial for developing portable webservices which can be deployed across any App Server.

    Hi Frank
    Thanks for your response.
    So If I remove my oracle-webservices.xml and deploy my Project, Will it work in any App Server.
    Also where can I put the contents in oracle-webservices.xml file like
    <oracle-webservices xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="http://xmlns.oracle.com/oracleas/schema/oracle-webservices-10_0.xsd">
    <webservice-description name="''''''''">
    <port-component name="''''''''">
    <operations>
    </operations>
    </port-component>
    </port-component>
    </webservice-description>
    </oracle-webservices>

  • Stateful webservice using topdownAssemble task.

    Hi,
    I have looked all over to find documentation on how to assemble a "stateful" webservice using the topdownAssemble task in Ant. It looks stateful webservice creation is supported using the bottom up approach but not the top-down approach. All the documentation I have found so far refer to the "assemble" task. Is my assumption true that topdownAssemble does NOT support stateful webservice creation?
    Thanks!

    Smok,
    Are you just trying to up your post count?
    My question is NOT about runtime support for stateful services. Nor is it about JDevelopers capabilities to support stateful service. I know that you can develop stateful services using JDeveloper and deploy them into OC4J/SOA Suite.
    My question is about an ANT task called "topdownAssemble" - thats the exact name of the task; and its ability to generate java code out of WSDL for **stateful** webservices.
    Get it now? By the way, I do consider this part of SOA development. So unless you tell me there is better forum for this question, don't be suggesting that it belongs elsewhere.
