G4 to cell phone info,

Hi Folks,
I've been trying to sync my cell phone with my G4 laptop, I was told to set a port in network pref.  but I'm not how is there a guide some where?
Dan schafer

Hi Daniel,
What kind of cell phone?
I was able to synch my Razer to my 12" G4 Powerbook via a USB cable using iSync. If I recall correctly, I just plugged it in, turned it on, and started iSync.
iSync saw the phone, and the rest wasn't too hard.
It was difficult, if not impossible via USB, as I recall...

  • Transfering cell phone info from my old blackberry that has a shattered screen and no service to my macbook pro using 10.6 SL

Ok some people just don't fit like the rest, and in this world I am fine with that! My situation is as the title reads I just entered, I have my old blackberry cell ph. screen is shattered and no service, it holds information and misc files I would like to be able to transfer to my macbook pro I own and currently am using 10.6 Snow Leapord. Is there anyone willing to give a round peg some square help that reads like ABC please? If a free app or like info exist that would be great, but what is most easy and painless would work, all of life's little charges will surly suck the sanity out of my sole way before the life is gone as it seems.
Thank you for the time and patience I am grateful more than at times I seem to be able to express being!
Phone is a Blackberry Perl************ (POS)*************** THE POS PART IS ONLY MY ADDED FEELINGS AT THE MOMENT PLEASE EXCUSE.

Ok the phone does get noticed and files come into a view that does allow me to see they exist, but I was thinking their must be an app or widget or WTEver they are allowing those files to be open.
Because what good is seeing a file exist that you cant view and open?
Maybe I worded my question wrong, I thought there is something a person would know of that allows the function of me connecting and reading the files to transfer and use?
Communication is such a fine line if the desired effect is understanding the whole process, like reading a file you know exist, because chances are human mental memory is not so good to completely recall its entire content.
I need this macbook to open blackberry phone files making them readable to be transferred like to a place I could recall phone numbers for future use?? ANY HELP THERE?
    Thanks a lot David Bro

  • 2720 Beginner Cell Phone User Info Resources?

Can anyone recommend a reference or info source for neophytes?  I've had a basic cell phone for twelve years, which I've only used to place and receive phone calls.  Imagine that!  But I've just purchased a 2720, and find the "User Guide" to be absolutely worthless.  ( Where is the "menu" button?  How could I go back and forth?  How was I to know to press "7" to change from "am" to "pm" when setting the time???)  Until I talked to my service provider's support, I couldn't even figure out how to navigate the screens.  That showed me how 20th century my background is.  I'm relatively computer-savvy, with a wireless network at home.
Now I'm curious about photographing, installing ring tones, texting, etc.  I don't see a "Cell Phoning For Dummies" book on amazon.
Any tips to get me rolling?
    Thanks!

  • Do you value customer service in a cell phone company?

I am a military member currently living in Arlington, VA.  On August 10, 2013, I visited the Verizon Wireless at Fashion Centre store at the Pentagon City Mall (1100 S Hayes St., Ste 3032, Arlington, VA 22202).  I visited the store because my cell phone, Droid RAZR, was displaying a blank screen when powered on, rendering it impossible for me to utilize the phone.  The phone was a refurbished model because the original purchased in September of 2012 failed in December 2012.  The refurbished phone had issues from the get-go, but with my military travel and irregular work hours, getting to the store during a time when it was both open and my phone was acting up, was extremely challenging.
Upon entering the store (Verizon Wireless at Fashion Centre) on the afternoon of August 10, 2013, I was greeted by the manager, Ms. L.  After explaining my situation with the phone to Ms. L, she indicated that there was nothing she could do because she believed that the damage was my fault.  I reminded her that it was a refurbished phone, meaning it was not new and had been repaired previously.  After arguing with me in an inappropriately loud tone and repeatedly calling me a “liar” for stating that my phone had been acting up for a significant amount of time, Ms. L stated that she would upgrade me a year early to a new phone, but that I couldn’t have an Apple model phone.  She indicated that new phones would be coming out the following week and that I might want to wait to make my choice until I saw them.  Ms. L  provided me with her personal cell phone number in case I had questions.  I thanked her immensely for agreeing to assist me and agreed to return to the store early in the next week to make my selection.
I called Ms. L on Monday August 12, 2013 to inquire about whether or not the new phones had come in yet.  She stated that they had not.  Wednesday August 14, 2013, I visited the store to make my selection because my phone had stopped working entirely and I could not wait any longer.  When I arrived at the store, Ms. L refused to come out from the back room.  Her employees stated that she was out at lunch.  I worked with one employee, Paula, to find a phone that would work for me, though I was extremely disappointed that I was not allowed to get the iPhone.  We finally settled on the Galaxy SIII.
When I went to purchase my new phone, Paula set me up with another employee, Dionne, for check out.  Dionne lacked any sort of professionalism.  She had multiple facial piercings and was dressed in a totally inappropriate manner for her job.  During our interaction, she got up and wandered around to talk to other people on several occasions without saying a word to me.  I asked her to move all of my pictures and contacts from my old phone to my new phone because I was unclear how to do that myself.  She told me that she had done so.  I also asked her to remove everything from my old phone at the end of the process so as to make sure all of my personal information was cleared off.  To this day, I am not confident Dionne even heard half of what I had asked her to do because she was getting up so frequently.  After making an approximately $150 purchase (phone, case, and charger), I thanked Dionne and Ms. L, who had finally emerged from the back room, and departed the store.
When I arrived home that evening, I found that I was missing approximately half of my contacts and over 150 of my pictures.  Dionne had neglected to transfer everything the right away.  I called Ms. L on the personnel number she had provided me and explained that I was distraught over the loss of my pictures and asked her how that could have happened.  (I lost numerous pictures from my military deployments, travel, and of my friends that I will never be able to get back).  I also lost numerous contact numbers that I will never be able to get back.  Ms. L apologized on behalf of her employee, Dionne, and stated that my pictures must not have been backed up to the SD card when the transfer occurred.  I asked her why Dionne had not checked on that because not all clients are technically savvy enough to know how to do that.  Ms. L again apologized for Dionne’s neglect and incompetence, stating that she planned to “write her up.”  Ms. L asked me to call her back the following day so that she could see if anything could be done about retrieving my pictures.
On Thursday August 15, I called Ms. L back as she had requested around approximately 5:00PM.  Instead of answering the phone herself, she immediately placed Dionne on the phone.  Dionne began rambling about how it was not her fault that my pictures were missing and that I should have known how to use my phone well enough to understand how an SD card worked.  When I attempted to interject, she said “Hold on,” set the phone down, and placed me on hold for approximately 3 minutes.  Ms. L then picked up the phone and began shouting at me.  She stated, “What more do you want from me?...I already got you a new phone, which I should not have done…You are ungrateful…”  I stated that I was not seeking anything further, other than I could not understand how Ms. L would let an employee act so inappropriately (particularly in reference to Dionne and how she had gotten up multiple times while I was trying to purchase my phone).  I told her that I held Dionne totally responsible for the loss of my pictures and contacts because she did not take the time to ensure my pictures and contacts were backed up and she left the desk to talk to other people frequently during my purchase.  Ms. L then stated, “Well, when other customers enter the store, we have to greet them.”  I stated that I understood that, but that I was making a significant purchase and believe that I warranted attention as well.  To that, Ms. L stated, “Well it’s not like you were buying a $600 phone outright, so that didn’t exactly make you my best customer.”  When I attempted to respond to her, Ms. L stated, “You were rude and I put up with your **** the first time you were in the store with your old phone, but I’m not going to put up with you now.  I hope sincerely that your phone works, so that I never have to see you again.”  I told her I hoped my phone worked as well and said goodbye.
Immediately after my final interaction with Ms. L on August 15, 2013, I called the Verizon customer service line where I spoke with Anthony.  Anthony and I talked at length about my experience and the sheer unprofessionalism displayed by the employees of the store (demeanor, language, and appearance).  He helped me to file an official report against the store.  I spent approximately an hour on the phone with Anthony.  At the end of our conversation, Anthony and I set up a 3:30 PM (EST) follow-up phone call for Monday August 19, 2013 to follow-up on the situation.  It is now Thursday August 22, 2013, and I have yet to receive a follow-up call from Anthony or anyone at Verizon.
I am disgusted by the all-around unprofessionalism, inappropriate language and tone displayed by the employees of the Verizon Wireless at Fashion Centre store, and the lack of care displayed for the customer by Verizon on the whole.  My family and I have been customers of Verizon for years.  As a military member, I have been taught that ethics, professionalism and respect are of the utmost value.  Not only were none of those values displayed in a positive way during my recent interactions with Verizon, but I am now literally afraid to enter the Verizon Wireless at Fashion Centre store for fear of another negative encounter with Ms. L (the manager) or Dionne.  I am truly disturbed that even after making a report like this to Verizon, I have received no follow-up as was promised.  I have been treated poorly, demeaned, degraded, and made to feel valueless to a company that my family and I have loyally supported for many years.  To add insult to injury, I didn’t even get the phone I actually wanted!  At this point, I can say with certainty that I will be shopping around for another cell phone provider in the future and recommending to my family members and friends that they do the same.

I tried for 30 minutes to get to billing and all I could get was a computer that wanted money, no option for service rep. I had to change the date on one of my payments and ever since I have been getting texts saying I missed a payment and I had to call them. After I went through the aboved mentioned I finally called the new business line and was able to get transfered to billing. The lady was rude and didn't want to wait on my responses. She said I had schechuled it for the 1st and that why I was getting these texts , I was holding the paper, gave her the conformation number and told her it was for the seventh, all of a sudden the phone starting breaking up.  I never had problems like this till my idenity was stolen and some guys got into my checking account, we caught it early and was able to close the account and open another. I had verizon on auto bill in the account and that was the only one I forgot put in the new info. Of course it was returned as closed. As soon as I saw this I checked the profile and changed it. They charged me the fee ( of course) and I called them to explain why this happened and apologized. Ever since then I have been treated like I'm a bum and that I don't pay my bill. I have been with them since 2000 and I'm thinking of changing it in September when the contract is up.

  • Connecting laptop to internet via cell phone

I heard i can use my cell phone to connect my laptop to the internet, i currently have a lg envy touch , with a 25 megabyte plan which would not be enough as I am wanting to get rid of current dsl plan and wanting to use my wireless plan as my only paid source of internet connection in my home.
I can upgrade plan to unlimited for 29.99 per month which is what i currently pay for my home dsl.  I was told by verizon rep i could use a smartphone ( droid/ droid incredible) to set up a wireless connection in which i could also use my ipod and nintendo dsi to connect to internet as well at the same time as the laptop.
So my thinking is i add another line to my 2100 minute family plan for additional monthly cost of 9.99 get the droid for 199.99 with the unlimited plan of 29.99 bringing my total monthly bill to 170.00 minus taxes. I currently only use about 900-1000 minutes but the savings of dropping minutes just doesnt seem worth it to me as I have children on my plan and their minutes will increase at some point and I would rather be locked in to a plan that gives me more than needed.
So I am wondering if others on this forum could give me their opinion/advise?
Does anyone else use the unlimited 29.99 plan as their only source of internet connection? and how fast/slow etc?
If it matters I will be using the internet connection in Pasadena Texas and mainly we use the internet for general searches on basic info, job searches, facebook,  ipod music, no gaming or anything complicated, just a typical basic internet family use.
    Thank you so much!
    Shannon

In addition to the unlimited $29.99 data plan, you would also need a $29.99 tethering plan, so it would cost you $60 a month - and the connection would not be as good as your DSL.  And we use our DSL to connect to a router and have several laptops and desktops using our DSL, which would not work with a tethered connection.  My advice - skip the tethering and keep the DSL.

  • Address Book vCards via Bluetooth to Samsung a900 "Blade" cell phone

I'm able to export Address Book contacts as vCards and then import them into one of the new Samsung a900 "Blade" Sprint phones using Bluetooth, but with a couple of vexing problems.
    1. I should clarify that I can import vCards into the new "Blade" cell phone from Address Book via Bluetooth, but only by dragging one card at a time, a very tedious process. Unfortunately, no data transfer occurs if I select multiple cards and drag them all at the same time. I'm using OS X (v10.4.2). Perhaps v10.4.4 and/or a more current AddressBook update will make a difference, or perhaps the problems are solely at the Samsung end...
After activating the paired phone and then launching Apple's Bluetooth File Transfer Utility, I'm dragging the vCards onto the OS X dock icon...
But before I do this, the "No Name" problem is forcing me to manually enter the Company Name into Address Book's last name field for every card that has no personal first/last name. Again, this is necessary just to get the Samsung a900's internal phone book to display something useful for these records (besides listing each record as "No name").
    2. When the phone software sees an entry with a Company Name only (but no First/Last Name entered), it goes brain dead and lists each entry as "No Name" instead of ignoring the empty Name fields and simply listing the Company Name. This is an age-old problem with dumb cell phone software (my previous Sanyo phone did this too). Unfortunately, Address Book exporting is useless without fixing this...Is there a way to get Address Book to format exported vCards to compensate for this shortcoming in the Phone interface?
More info on this phone and Macs is posted on an a900-Mac thread in the Samsung discussion at www.sprintusers.com. The "Blade" is Samsung's new model that copies the look-and-feel of the popular Motorola RAZR, and it is a very nice, if not entirely original, design, and a very hot phone at Sprint right now. It does have a few bugs, but some already have been addressed with a firmware update from Samsung. It's only been out since late November or early December of 2005.
I also cross-posted these questions in the Address Book and Mail forum...

All metioned problems are Samsung's fault. Blame them.
I've been assuming it was a Samsung problem, and have posted help requests in cell phone forums that Samsung engineers and/or support allegedly reads. I was hoping there might be some way to automate a workaround from the computer end...
Now, if Address Book had an option to define the fields that are to be exported or perhaps automatically sub Company Names for last names the problem would be solved when exporting for cell phones. I can't belive no one has ever encountered this before -- it has been a problem with every cell phone I have ever owned.

  • Can my Basic LG Cell Phone be used in England?

I will be in England for 2 weeks and would like to make calls within England. Can my cell phone be used? If not, what is a good alternative?

If its an lg basic phone then most likely no.  A lot of the smartphones are gsm capable but most of the basic are not.  They do have a global rental program.  On the verizon website hover over explore at the top and select global services.  It will walk you through putting your info in to let you know your options...hope that helps:)

  • Can't make calls with cell phone

I tried to make a call today on my cell phone (non-Smart phone) and received a message that I do not have enough money in my account. However I just checked and I am paid in full for this billing cycle and have unlimited minutes. Why am I getting this message and why can I not make a call????

djklaugh we'll get you back in action! We'll need a few pieces of info so we can pinpoint the issue. You can pay monthly with Prepay and Post Pay. So which service do you have? You can also add a text messaging block to prevent all messages by http://vz.to/1gi8nNC

  • How to block all AIM text messages to cell phone

    Hi folks,
I was woken up by an AIM text message (obviously spam) on my phone around 6:30am this morning. I received two more text spam between 6:30am and 7:15am until I put my phone into "Standalone mode" so I could go back to sleep. Each text message was from a different 6-digit phone number or 6-digit code, so blocking one number would not help. When I got out of bed and turned my phone back on, I was still receiving more AIM text messages (also obviously spam) to check out a certain URL.
I have an older prepaid plan. So when I log into My Verizon and look for the spam controls, I don't have any.
I found a way to turn off ALL AIM text messages. I found this site:
    http://www.aim.com/products/txt#im-to-mobile
    Under
    Manage Your Mobile Privacy
    It has a link called:
Block texts if you are not an AIM user
    http://www.aim.com/products/txt#block-txt
You enter your cell phone number into this page, you get a confirmation number via text message on your cell phone, you enter this 4-digit confirmation number (located at the end of the text message) into this web page, and click "Disable Messages". It says:
Pressing this button will disable all text messages coming from AOL® and AIM® Services to your phone.
Once you click that button, a little pop-up window will appear that says:
    The page at aolmobile.aol.com says:
SMS to your device successfully blocked.
    with an OK button.
I hope it works! It looks like it will work for all cell phones, not just Verizon. So far my phone has been quiet for the past hour and 15 minutes, I am not getting any more AIM text messages....

There is no know issue like this; have you installed any Preware apps? Have you tried restarting your device from Device Info, Reset Options, and Restart? I would try this first; but you may have to go the next step and Erase Apps & Data. This would delete all PIM data and apps off you device, and then you would have to reload from your backup data. This however will also delete all text messages on the device, and there is no way to restore them. The last step would be to run webOS doctor on the device to restore or repair the operating system. You can get this application from www.palm.com/rom, enter your serial number and follow the steps on this web page.

This one is tough - Unfortunately Korea is one of the few countries that also uses CDMA2000 for some of their networks (same technology as Sprint/Verizon) - CDMA2000 phones tend not to be very portable from carrier to carrier.
However - some carriers in Korea might use a GSM network.
However, so far, most of the info I can find indicates that Korea uses CDMA2000 in a band that doesn't match anything used by Sprint or Verizon in the United States.  It looks like you might need to purchase a phone from a Korean carrier.
The one exception seems to be http://www.worldtimezone.com/gsm.html - According to this, SK Telecom in Korea has UMTS service in the 2100 MHz band, so the majority of unlocked GSM phones will work.  e.g. an unlocked AT&T or T-Mobile phone may work (exception:  The HTC Inspire 4G lacks UMTS2100, some other AT&T smartphones also might.) if you can obtain an SK Telecom SIM.
Korea is a bit weird in that SK is probably the only carrier I've ever seen to transition from a CDMA2000 EV-DO network to HSPA...  In short, you probably picked the WORST destination country possible to find an international phone for!

  • Problems with cell phone bluetooth hackers

Hi there, I have been having problems with someone accessing my machine through the wireless bluetooth system. The logs prove it and there seem to be no way to shut down or dissable the modems. There is more than one it seems. I have reformated my drive and reloaded operaring system. As I was going throught the initial state of the machine like firewall settings printer settings and wifi, the changes that I was making were being changed back. I have checked the remote settings like the remote screen set up and and then a cell phone mac address poped up. Is there code that I can write to the EFI to not load this bluetooth because I have spent countless hours trying to figure this out. In my Sony Viao I had such a go around with this It took me almost six weeks before I gave in and took it in to the shop. Today I was setting up the home network and public came up an then 2 and 3 was below it. NTUSER.DAT is respocible and I can't get rid of that either because one is keeping the other running. Computers aren't supposed to be like this I know . IF someone could help I would appreciate all that I can get. Thanks in advance.

  • If iPhone needs repair, can I use my old cell phone as back up?

If I need to send my iPhone in for battery replacement or repair, will I be able to use my previous cell phone until I get my iPhone back?
The newly posted iPhone Service FAQ states that Apple will be "renting" AppleCare Service iPhones for $29. I realize that none of the info stored on the SIM will transfer to my old phone, but I can always sync contacts to that phone from my computer, and I'd rather do that than shell out $29 for a loaner.
By the way, don't most cell companies provide loaner phones for free? Why is Apple charging $29... other than because they can.

Definitely...your iPhone sim card will work fine in any of our current phone models (as long as they are gsm/cingular/at&t...yada yada yada). Voice service will be instantly transfered to the phone and your data service will continue to work with the temporary phone's browser...Just remember, the opposite isn't true. You can't take the sim out of another phone and expect it to work in the iPhone without repeating iActivation. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info!  Yes, my phone supports Bluetooth transfers and I had previously successfully paired both the phone with the Air and vice versa.  I also checked out the Air manual and the phone manual and everything was correct.... but, I gave up after several attempts and ended up emailing the photos from my phone.  It took a while but, it worked.  Next time I see my son, I will go over it with him becuase he is much more Mac savvy than I am!  I appreciate the input.  Thanks again!
