G4 with 22-inch Viewsonic Monitor

My G4 desktop running 10.4.8 with Radeon 7500 card doesn't offer a native 1680x1050 display resolution for my new Viewsonic VX2235wm (22-inch) display. ATI does not have a driver for this OEM card, and referred me to this site. Suggestions?

  • My Viewsonic monitor won't work with the Imac using the Mini Port to DVI adapter.

My Viewsonic monitor won't work with the Imac using the Mini Port to DVI adapter. I also tried the HDMI to DVI adapter ane the Mac-Mini with same result. The monitor does work on my older Macbook Pro that has the DVI connector. Is it a Software/Driver issue ?

Should be extremely simple, please carefully read Connect multiple displays to your Mac. If you still have problems then it's probably a cable issue that would be resolved by replacing the adapter cable. You should be using this adapter. If you are using a third party adapter that might be your problem!

  • Monitor Capability with 12 inch Powerbook

Does anyone know if my 12 inch Powerbook will work with this Dell 24" monitor?
    Dell 24" Wide DVI 6ms 1000:1 500 cd/m² 1920x1200 WUXGA
    9-in-2 Card Reader

    Thanks!!

If you are using MIRROR mode, there is no way to get your widescreen monitor to mirror your PowerBook's 1024x768 dimensions since the laptop's monitor isn't widescreen as well.
If you TURN OFF MIRRORING and use the display as an extended desktop, then you can choose whatever resolution you want for your 19" Samsung display.
The main screen will always be what is reflected (thus mirroring) on the second monitor. If the second monitor is proportional to the main display, then it will match-- even if the second monitor is say, 1024x768 and your PowerBook is at 640x480.
But in your case, your 1024x768 will unfortunately, never match proportionally to a widescreen display and will be stretched out. (Unless, I just remembered, if you have special features on your display that allow it to have black bars on the side, like a "reverse" letterbox mode... LCD TVs have this feature, since you can double them as monitors in addition to TVs).
Vice versa would work if you set your main display as the widescreen LCD and choose your PowerBook's monitor set as the second display. You have to do this while your external monitor is connected of course.
Go to SYSTEM PREFERENCES > DISPLAYS > (choose the button for) ARRANGEMENT... and then it will tell you to drag the menubar to which monitor you want to be set as your main. The screen will light up red to let you know which one you're working with.

"Vice versa" I mean in MIRROR mode. Again, extended desktop mode (non-mirrored) will stay as whatever resolution you choose your external monitor to be.

  • 24" iMac... Mac Pro with Viewsonic Monitor or Apple Display.

I'm tossing between the options of getting just a 24" iMac... or getting a Mac Pro and getting an Apple Monitor or Getting a Viewsonic Monitor... Are the Apple displays really worth their price? If ONLY talking displays not specs would I really enjoy the 24" iMac due to it being 24" but at the same time (quick mention of specs) it's not upgradable as much as a Mac Pro... is spending $1,000 on a 23" Apple display worth it? I want at least a 22" display. I can get a Viewsonic 22" for less then $400. What is so great about the Apple 23" display that I would want to buy that instead and spend the extra money?

    figured out what I wanted

  • How do I use my late 2011 iMac ( with thunderbolt) as external monitor for laptop/Xbox or other device with hdmi as output.

May be this question has been asked thousand times. how do I use my mid 2011 iMac ( with thunderbolt) as external monitor for laptop/Xbox or other device with hdmi as output. if apple hasn't removed that feature and has just moved that functinoality to thunderbolt then how can I use it. currently there is no laptop available with thunderbolt output. no 3rd party converter available. whats the use of having feature on latest functionality if we cant use it. I wish they would have made one port has mini-dvi and other thunderbolt for backward compatibility untill some vendor comes up with converter.

    It Says :
Mac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011) and iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) and later computers support Target Display Mode via Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt cable (2 m) when the source is another Thunderbolt-equipped computer.
Name one computer model/vendor which has thunderbolt as output for display + audio. this is so stupid to move to new technology without availbility of its compatible devices.

  • Processing time has slowed to a crawl since install of ViewSonic monitor.

All processing functions have slowed to a crawl since I installed a ViewSonic monitor VX2270Smh-LED.  The system recognized the monitor immediately.  It is connected through the Mini-DVI port on the MacBook Pro and through an adapter to the DVI port on the monitor.  I have the displays configured as one very wide monitor so I can move windows back and forth.  It doesn't seem to matter what I am working on, browser, spreadsheet, email, every command results in the spinning wheel.
Have looked for a driver for the ViewSonic but they don't make them.  Is there something available with Apple that will help this?

To isolate whether the monitor is really the culprit I would run a benchmark without the monitor connected and with.
You should rely on the numbers from the benchmark to tell whether there is a difference.  Perception can be a very dicey thing.
    I have used xbench:

  • Will my 2014 MacBookAir work with an ASUS MX279H monitor

I have a MacBook Air bought from Apple in Feb. 2014. I want to use a large 27 inch ASUS monitor (MX279H) with it. Will it work? And what cable do I use?

You need a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter or cable, such as:
    <http://www.startech.com/AV/Displayport-Converters/Mini-DisplayPort-to-HDMI-Activ e-Video-and-Audio-Adapter-Converter-Mini-DP-to-HDMI-1920x1200~MDP2HDS>
Some cheap adapter-cables (Rocketfish) wont work.

  • Poor quality when connect my Viewsonic monitor 22, to Macbook pro

Just got a Viewsonic monitor 22 VA2246m-LED , connected to Macbook pro 13" The quality of the type is very poor.
I call Viewsonic tech support & they could not recommend any drivers. Check the website & no drivers were list. How can this issue
    be corrected?

The Mac uses a single highly-parameterized Driver that easily accommodates every display. There is no benefit to using different Drivers, so no one has developed different drivers. That is not a solution to your problem.
What interface are you using to connect this display?
    what adapters and cables?
If you use the display's DVI-D input with an appropriate adapter (rather than VGA) you will find the results are much better.

  • ISight & ViewSonic Monitor's Built-in Mac-incompatible Webcam

I just bought a ViewSonic Monitor. Spent a LONG time with their Tech guys trying to get the built-in Cam to work. No luck. But a Supervisor said he "had seen a 3rd party app used on a Mac to drive the Cam." I've never used one.
Will iSight solve the problem? (It doesn't seem to be on my drive -- just an 12/05 Updater). If it will drive the Cam, do I need to buy it separately?
    I need help! Thanks!

    Thanks, Tony, will do.
The Monitor Installation CD seemed to work just fine. The monitor won't go to sleep using the Apple/Sleep menu (it shuts down and immediately restarts again), but that's not keeping me up nights...yet

  • Help with Resolution on External Monitor

I want to set my HP Envy 15t to drive an external monitor, not as an extension, but rather as my primary monitor.  My external monitor is a Viewsonic VX2250, a little older, and requires that I use a HDMI-to-VGA adapter.  (The Viewsonic also has DVI inputs...not sure it that would make a difference.)  On my current tower setup, I use the monitor in its recommended (or native mode) setting of 1920x1080.  I like this screen a lot.
The adapter is a Bytecc HM-VGA005 and the specs seem to suggest that it can handle a variety of video resolutions - Full HD (1080p), WUXGA (1920x1200 RB mode), and UXGA (1600x1200 VESA mode).
The 15t currently runs in the recommended resolution of 1366x768.  If I understand the specs right, in HD mode it's 1366x768 and in FHD mode it's 1920x1080.   The graphics card is an Intel HD Graphics 4600.  Is this the reason that I can only get HD resolution and not FHD resolution on the laptop?
But whenever I plug all this together and try and change the laptop screen resolution settings, the external monitor only shows 1024x768...pretty lousy.  I have it so that the laptop screen is dark and only the external monitor is on.  But there doesn't seem to be any choices I can make to improve this resolution.  I've checked to see that the graphics driver is up to date and it is.
What do I do to get the best screen I can on the external monitor?  Would buying a new monitor with HDMI inputs achieve better results?  Do I need a different adapter?
    Thanks...Kurt
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Me again!  Well, it was a bit of the nut behind the wheel.    I checked in with the store that I've been buying my cables, adapters, etc.  He said to bring the Viewsonic monitor by to see what might be going on.  As I was setting up, he asked about power to the adapter.  I had the USB cable but didn't think it was needed.  But after putting everything together in addition to power to the HDMI-VGA adapter, I could see I was getting the resolution that I was hoping for.  Why it worked on the Dell monitor, no clue...maybe a better monitor or different VGA cable.  The Bytecc adpater didn't come with any instructions, so I just didn't know.
All is well.  Hope this helps someone in the future.

  • New Viewsonic Monitor and My G4 won't work together?!?

I purchased a E70f-b CRT viewsonic monitor for a G4 mirrored door mac and I am having crazy shutdown problems. I have spoke to the techs from were I purchased it and the viewsonic techs and basically I am still stuck. Basically the G4 will not shutdown when this monitor is hooked up. I have calibrated and used the driver/colorsync for the monitor and I still am having problems. When I shutdown my computer, it will rev up and boot back up with this monitor. I have tested this monitor on another exact G4 and it does the same thing. On the first G4, I seem to have more errors and lock ups. I am trying to find out if I need to send this back/exchange or different model. Help

There is a problem with the OEM 9000 Radeon and some LCD VGA displays. Could be affecting yours.
Apple even has a tech note on this.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61697
A Power Mac G4 (Mirrored Drive Doors), Power Mac G4 (FW 800) or Power Mac G5 computer may restart after the computer has been shut down when it is connected to certain third-party VGA and DVI displays using the DVI connector on the computer.
    Symptom

  • Using my mid 2012 MB Air with an external HDMI monitor question.

Am wanting to use my mid 2012 MacBook Air 13 inch running Mavericks with an external HDMI monitor.
I've got a thunderbolt to HDMI adapter which I've plugged in and am able to redirect the sound to my speaker equipped external monitor by choosing it in the sound output preferences box.
BUT I've got a picture displayed on both my air and monitor.
My question - is it possible to switch the display so that it only shows on the external monitor - I'm only wanting to display the same picture on both displays.
Finally is it possible to show one screen on the Air and a different one on the HDMI Monitor.
    Thankd

Try  > System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement > Mirror Displays (or not).

  • 17 Inch Studio Monitor

Just picked up a 17 inch studio monitor with the adapter A1006. Do I need a CD to calibrate my IBook G4 it did not come with one and I am wondering where to find one if needed. Thank You, Bob

If the MacBook Pro has a Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt port, use a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter.
    <http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB570Z/B/mini-displayport-to-dvi-adapter>
If you have the Retina model, it also has a HDMI port, so you could use a HDMI to DVI adapter.

I have a PowerBook G4 with a non-functioning monitor.  It used to work with an external monitor, but I reinstalled the OS, which cleared the display preferences and now when I restart it won't detect the external monitor. This means I can't use the computer anymore. How do I fix? I tried using the Command+F2 keyboard shortcut, but it doesnt' work.  It's possible that since I reinstalled the OS, it still needs to be set up, so there's only a welcome screen (but since I can't see it I'm not sure).

There is no limit to the number of times you can re-install Office on the same computer.
    You can activate by telephone:

Everytime I get a message saying that this software is not supported on my system. Can anyone tell me why I can't install the updates?

    Hello Philly,
I believe that when you reset your ipod(command given from the computer, right?)  touch WHILE the ipod was updating, It cleared the system in the middle of writing files, thus corrupting(equivalent of cutting of in the middle of a sentence) the basic running system.
I suggest you go to an apple store and ask for a technical diagonosis in person. they may offer to help if the problem is fixable. If your ipod is still under warrenty, i would guess it would be free/low cost.
