G5 (1.8 Dual) on Red Bull

Why does my PowerMac G5 (1.8) keep awaking from sleep without any form of motion. It is set to sleep after 15 mins which it does but it just wakes up back in no time. This happens all day and night, it started two weeks ago (or i noticed it then).     What could be the problem?
Today I shut it down from my Monitor (17" Studio Display) and left home. I thought it actually had shut down, but when I returned home the fan was running on high and my monitor would not awake.
The only thing connected to it is my Studio Display, my keyboard (Apple) and mouse (wireless) are in my Studio Display.

Take a look at the system log in the Console utility after it wakes itself back up.  (Console launches to the console log, so you have to click the "Logs" icon and select the system log in the list on the left.
In the system log, you should see someing like the following at the wakeup time:
May  7 17:08:48 TheG5 kernel[0]: System Sleep
May  7 17:08:48 TheG5 kernel[0]: System Wake
May  7 17:08:48 TheG5 kernel[0]: Wake event 0020
May  7 17:08:48 TheG5 kernel[0]: FireWire (OHCI) TI ID 8025 PCI: handleSelfIDInt - received quads == 0. issuing bus reset
May  7 17:08:49 TheG5 kernel[0]: USB caused wake event (OHCI)
From that information, you should see in general what is causing the wake event, if the kernel actually reports it.
One final question: are you on a LAN?  If so, you might want to check your Energy Saver options to see that Ethernet activity isn't triggering something.

It is simply asking you to verify your account info. Select None for the CC.

I do not know how he does it, Adrian Newey has been desiging winning cars for years, its time he quit and went on to design Americas Cup Yachts, and that would give the other designers a chance.
Probably another dull doring season with Vettel miles in front and the scramble veing for the lesser races.
There is only one thing in motor racing more boring that F1 and that is the American Oval, dullsville.
Mind you the Red Bull boss Christmas Hornpipe, has been doing what he does best moaning in a roundabout way of the forthcoming cost cap.
The turbo engines should see an interesting twist, in the 80's it was estimated that the Honda turbos had 1350 HP, the BMW a few behind and Ferrari and Renault about 50 less, and all without the masses of driver aids that they now have.

  • Red Bull TV just showed up on all of our Apple TVs with updates off.

Even with Autoupdate turned off and restrictions enabled, Apple Pushed a new app to the Apple TVs. Did I miss a setting that would disable app updates? I have a dozen of these things around our shop floor with restrictions enabled and now we are finding out that unrestricted apps can randomly show up, requiring us to visit each one and enable restrictions. We turned everything off and just use them for airplay. This is a trial run, I don't want to put 50 of these things out there to find out randomly I am going to have to run around fixing updates.
    Any thoughts?

New services don't require an update, which is why having auto update turned off didn't help you.
If you have any suggestions that you think might enhance the Apple TV you can send Apple your feedback here

  • Can't connect 2200d on Windows 7 to XP machine

I need help sharing my LaserJet 2200d running on Windows 7 with another computer running XP. The HP LaserJet was originally installed on the XP 32 bit machine and it ran fine. I bought a new computer with Windows 7, 64 bit and Windows automatically installed the software for the printer and it works fine on Windows 7. I have printer sharing turned on and the XP machine CAN find the HP printer across the network. In reading the HP web support on this topic I did try to configure the HP LaserJet for both 64 bit and 32 bit (x86) drivers. However, when I follow through the step outlined on this page - http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c02030517 I run into a problem in locating the proper driver. I keep getting an error message saying that I do not have the correct file. I tried all HP 2200 PCL 5 drivers that I could find on this link, including the universal driver - http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=28862&pr... but non of them worked. I kept getting the message that I do not have the correct driver. The exact error message is "The requested location does not contain the driver for the HP LaserJet 2200 Series PCL 5 for the requested processor architecture. What driver do I need to install on my windows 7 machine in order to allow the HP 2200d PCL 5 printer to be shared with my 32 bit XP machine and where do I find it? Thanks very much, Dan

Hi guys!  Had the same issue with a client.  Just found the solutions brainstorming (and the red bull helped!!)  This is tested on a Windows x64 machine sharing the printer on the network and attempting to connect via a Windows XP machine.  The printer has been previously shared amongst other Windows 7 x64 machine successfully.
The solution is to install the HP Universal Printer Driver - PCL5 version on the machine where the printer is connected locally FOR THE SAME PRINTER THUS CREATING A SECOND PRINTER USING THE UNVERSAL DRIVER.
After downloading the file, it will unzip and start the installation.  Choose the existing printer using the same port ( it will say ie DOT4 - HP Laserjet 2200).  Once it completes, unclick [ ] Set as default and complete the operation.  Now go to the Printers listing.  Under the HP Lasterjet 2200 printer there should be two printers listed - one using the Windows 7 x64 biut driver and the other using the HP Universal driver
Now, on the Windows XP machine, use the same Universal Printer Drviver and find the printer by browsing the network for the computer.  You should see the HP Universal Printer.  Select it and continue with the installation.  Once completed, print a test page.    PRESTO!!!
Hope it works.  In the middle of a my runs so if you need more elaboration, give me a bit to answer back.

I can't seem to figure out how to merge the rankings into one, and just have one general ranking.

ok maybe I just need to give you a better understanding of what i'm trying to ultimatly do, and maybe that will help clarify things.
In the original code I posted the following subquery in the from clause...
    select distinct

so if team_id = home_team_id for example then I want the following...
    sch.home_team_id_1032 as team_code_1032,
    sch.home_team_id as team_code,
    sch.home_team_name as team_name,
    sch.home_team_nickname as team_nickname,
    sch.home_team_abbrev as team_abbrev
and then the away team columns would be...
    sch.away_team_id_1032 as opp_team_code_1032,
    sch.away_team_id as opp_team_code,
    sch.away_team_name as opp_team_name,
    sch.away_team_nickname as opp_team_nickname,
    sch.away_team_abbrev as opp_team_abbrev
and same thing vice versa if the team_id column matches the away_team_id
How is the best way to go about this? W/a case statement? and if so can someone please post the logic/

**Note: Columns are in the same order as the query, I didn't post the column names b/c everything would look even sloppier then it doesAre you sure?
The 6th column in the query is home_team name; the 6th column of the output has values like 5359 and 5354. Did you perhaps duplicate the rankings_iorder column at the beginning of the results?
Why don't you simplify the problem. Instead of 15 or 16 columns, 10 of which are twins (5 pairs of 2 columns), why don't you post a problem with 6 columns, 4 of which are twins? Pick short columns, such as home_team_abbrev rather than home_team_name.
Adding the other columns later should be easy; merely a matter of coping one of the columns ion the solution.
Whenever you have a problem, post some sample data and the results you want from that data.
In this case, the sample data can be about 6 columns from the result set below. I'll bet you can make a good sample set with fewer than 12 rows, also.

  • How to check whether a file got read permissions for perticular user

Problem: Let JRE is running with some x as effective user in LINUX then while checking file permission it is checking permission on that file for that x user.
    File f = new File(file name)
    if(f.exists())
         System.out.println(exists);
    Else
         System.out.println(does not exists);
The above code prints exists only when x user have permissions on that file
Requirement: I would like to check whether a file got read permissions for particular user i.e. whether y user got permissions on that file.
    Any help is appreciated

In Linux a user has to have read permission on a file to even see that it exists. As a result, if a user (or a group to which they belong) doesn't have read access to the file File.exists() will return false. Windows which doesn't have as tightly controlled access to files will admit that a file exists whether it can be read or not.
    PS.
This is proof that I should never answer a question off the top of my head when I haven't had my red bull yet. This is wrong. You will be able to see it if you have read and execute on the directory.

  • Issues with hangman activity in captivate 7

    Hi,
I am using the hangman activity in some of my projects. There are two issues being faced:
When I test the published file in scormcloud, it works fine. The screen automatically progresses to the next slide once the learner completes the activity (I am using IE or firefox browser). However, when my client tests it, they get stuck after this activity, because the slide doesn't progress (they're testing on Chrome browser). Is this a browser issue?
Secondly, for the learner to move from one question to another after completing it, the button label reads 'Retry', which is not correct because you want them to continue and not retry a word. Is there a way to customize the button labels for these new interactions?
Your advise would be highly appreciated!
    Divya

Divya, I have had similar problems with the puzzle widget. In the end we cannot make learner tools that only work on certain browsers. Users use different browsers. And that is that.
Adobe did not round off these widget tools properly. I actually wonder how they passed any form of QA.
I have not specifically used the hangman widget yet, However, when a learner does not complete the puzzle widget in time, it just hangs (freezes) right there! So I added a "continue" button that actually runs the slide again (so widget runs again) and allows the learner to try again. In the same way you could just add a continue button when and where your require it. You might have to use some advanced action to co-ordinate the lot.
If you have not worked with advanced actions before, now is the time to learn. Drink a Red Bull (It is not really bad for you) and watch the series of videos that explain advanced actions on YouTube. You will need the Red Bull to maintain focus . Just make enough time available and be patient. You will get it right.  It will help you overcome many of the Captivate problems.

  • How can I retrieve last month and last mont -1?

Hi guys, I am finishing to build a complex SSIS package, the last task is pretty simple but I'd like you to suggest the better solution in terms of performance (table with millions rows). The task is to create two table, one with the last update (archived)
and one with the last update -1 (the update is done monthly) taking the data from an huge table (create by the package).
    The DDL (sample):
create table forum (runner varchar(20), race varchar(20), nmonth varchar (6), archived datetime2)
insert into forum values ('Zabres','Poland Red Bull','201411','2015-01-26 11:37:02.6870000'),
    ('Reynolds','Poland Red Bull','201411','2015-01-26 11:36:02.6870000'),

    ('Reynolds','France Red Bull','201411','2015-01-26 11:36:02.6870000'),

    ('Greefer','Poland Red Bull','201411','2014-12-11 9:11:55.7860000')
The tough thing is the format of archived. How can I take the last month and, especially, the last month -1 without caring about the seconds and milliseconds ?
    The expected is LAST MONTH
    LAST MONTH -1
    Many thanks in advance

Yes! Your solution looks better, even in terms of performance (242 sec mine, 202 sec yours). Now I'm wondering the same, shall I upload the elements only once per month? What if I got more upload in one month?
You can also upload it once per week
In which case query would be like
    SELECT *
    FROM forum
    WHERE archived >= DATEADD(wk,DATEDIFF(wk,0,GETDATE()),0)
    AND archived < DATEADD(wk,DATEDIFF(wk,0,GETDATE())+1,0)

  • Session state protection  and navigation to url outside apex

    Hi
I am working in on an app , in which base on unique key for each customer and i have to show his address on map(google.api) i used apex util to prepare url and enable checksumprotection on that item to pass it on the map.
I have another page which is details of customer also based on that unique , which works fine as its in apex only
what i notice is that , when i navigate to external url(maps.google.com) the session is different than what i originally had, which causes problem when i want to navigate from map (java script info window ) to navigate to detail using same unique key of customer.
I read this was a bug in 4.1 but i am using 4.1.1 assuming the bug was fixed.

  • What are the new defaults for JavaScript?

Quote: "Enable JavaScript" preference checkbox has been removed and user-set values will be reset to the default
That is a very vague statement. The checkbox has been removed, but
    (1) What are the "values" which are now the defaults?
    (2) Where do I find them in about:config?
    (3) Has this change affected the NoScript extension?
If the devs cannot think of anything better to do than to fix features that are not broken, then they should be fixing the known bugs and investigating the reported ones.

@jscher200: Why is my bullshift meter reading 99%?
Whether JavaScript was enabled was not a problem. It was enabled by default and anyone who disabled it should have had no problem finding it again. The three actions which were blocked unless the user also enabled them respectively were what mattered. Cor-El's answer does not give enough info as to how to prevent those "features" of JavaScript from being used.
For what it is worth, I'm not looking forward to another change:
"Simplified interface for notifications of plugin installation"
My guess is that whoever decided to "simplify" the interface sacrificed security for convenience -- as if the Internet is safer now than it was when that interface was created. If that interface was too complicated for you -- or just too slow for your Red Bull brain -- then you have neither the wit nor the wisdom to be using the Internet, regardless of the "simplicity" of the browser.

  • RFC: Queries about Arch culture and community

    Good day everyone,
This is a request for opinions from the Arch community, especially the Arch developers, Trusted Users, and long time users. I am writing a review about Arch Linux which I hope to publish within the next month or so. Unlike most distro reviews, which are actually distro installation reviews, I have devoted a lot of space to The Arch Way, unique technical qualities of Arch, day to day use and maintenance of Arch, and the Arch community. In my view, the community of a distro is much more important than its installation process.
If I may, I would like to pose some questions about the Arch community. FWIW, I have been quietly participating in the Arch community myself for some months now, contributing material to the wiki. Anyway, please take a look at the queries below, and comment on any as you see fit.
    Thank you,
    Luke Seubert
    1. Despite its modest size, Arch has a very enthusiastic community, as evidenced by its internationalization projects, derivative distros, 3rd party repositories, Arch schwag, active forums and wiki, etc. Is this statement true or false, and if Arch does have an especially enthusiastic community, why?
    2. Arch is deeply conservative, refusing to deviate from core principles. Still, within these bounds, Arch permits a wide array of innovation. Are these statements true or false, and why? If true, what are the pros and cons of such conservatism? If false, in what way has Arch deviated from its core principles or resisted innovation?
    3. The Arch community is fairly harmonious, with little bickering, flamewars, forks or threats to fork, etc. Is this statement true or false, and why? (I have my own theory on the why of this one, and the answer in brief is... dogfood.)
    4. How good or bad a job is Arch doing in cultivating new Trusted Users and Arch developers? Does it have a formal mentoring process? It seems the most direct path to TU status is to put together packages in AUR, and eventually have them voted into Community based upon quality and popularity. However, at some point, virtually all of the popular packages will already be in Community or Extra. How does an AUR uploader become a Trusted User then?
    5. Hypothetical Scenario:
The Chakra Project successfully completes in alpha, beta, and release candidate Live CD testing, and releases its Live CD - version 1.0 - with the GUI easy Tribe installer, to wide acclaim - DistroWatch even raves about it. Suddenly, there are lots of new Arch users, who never went through the traditional Arch install process, who never "paid their Arch dues", and who are not nearly as clueful because they never RTFW. They are flooding IRC and webforums with really, uh, "basic" questions, and suggesting/demanding new features. How does the Arch community handle this abrupt change in its culture? Has it dealt with such culture shocks before?
    6. If only you too could lift cars over your head, would you be more cool, less cool, or as cool as Phrakture, and why? What if you could only lift cars over your head after eating a can of spinach and slamming a six pack of Red Bull? Then how cool/not cool would you be by comparison?

Here are my opinions on these questions and do not necessarily reflect other Arch devs...
    1. True.  I believe part of the enthusiastic community comes from the fact that Arch requires you to set up your system for yourself.  So people become very proud of their achievement of getting their system setup exactly as they like it.
This is an excellent point. There is a nice sense of pride that comes from tweaking your Arch install to just the way you like it. And it is an involved process requiring some modicum of skill.
Also, people have always been encouraged to contribute fixes or start projects to fulfill areas they see lacking.  Seeing your work become used by many others is always a good feeling.
Yeah, I have noted this in my rough draft. Arch has amazingly low barriers to entry. Sign up for an AUR account, which is quick and automatic, and get to work. Your status and authority is derived from a roughly consensual meritocracy, as opposed to a hierarchical, bureaucratic process full of gatekeepers, aka potential gateclosers, like most distros.
This simplicity extends to our package manager, which I believe is a major factor in making the AUR as popular as it is.  (Note that while pacman is developed primarily by Arch users, it aims not to be tied to any distro).
Allan, could you clarify this comment? How does pacman make AUR popular? While I use pacman to access binaries from core, extra, and community; I use yaourt to handle PKGBUILDs from AUR. I don't quite follow you on this one.
But as always, the principles guiding Arch do get bent when it is sensible to do so.  It was always said we don't split packages like many other distros, but we do some splitting these days (e.g. gcc-libs, KDE).  We now include info pages and other docs.
Both of which are good moves. A system should have documentation built in, for those occasions when internet access is down. And I might actually take a look at KDE 4 once again, now that I wouldn't have to download a pile of unwanted packages.
    3. There are flame-wars every so often...  The last one that was probably quite obvious to many was changing rules governing the community repo (requiring votes or 1% usage as defined by pkgstats) and the move to using the official db-scripts (which may be seen as making the TUs less independent).
That is a flamewar that I missed. How does Arch resolve difficult issues? There is no Constitution that I could find, nor any formal governing structure. Is it as simple as lengthy debate, and then Dred Overlord Phrakture decrees?
I have never heard of a treat to fork the distro or components of it.  I guess that is because of the attitude of show us a working implementation of a good idea and it will possibly become official.
Well, there aren't forks, but there are a lot of derivative distros, some of them with very different goals. And there are a lot of 3rd party repositories out there, outside of AUR. I wouldn't call that forking, but it is, I guess, extending. I think such experimentation is a good thing - really good ideas might be developed outside of even AUR, and eventually brought back into the Arch ecosystem. I believe some of Xyne's packages got started that way, yes?
Here is an interesting factoid I came up with in my research:
Packages Per Maintainer Ratio - how many packages on average does a maintainer support?
For Debian, the P/M Ratio is 28
When you add up all the Arch Devs and TUs, and divide out the packages in core, extra, and community, the Arch P/M Ratio is 67.
Arch devs seem quite impressive, until you recall that they mostly maintain one version of each package and for only two architectures, whereas Debian devs support 11 architectures for 5 versions - experimental, unstable, testing, current stable, and old stable. (Ugh - is that brutal or what?)
Seen in that light, one has to admire the very hardworking Debian devs, and wonder a bit about those Arch dev slackers. Yet another T-shirt idea! Change the first idea so it now reads, "I'm a slacker Arch developer, and I eat my own dogfood!"

  • How to know whether a vacation rule is set for a user

    Hi,
How to know whether a vacation rule is set for a user or not in the BPM process. Can anyone help me in this.
    Thanks,

In Linux a user has to have read permission on a file to even see that it exists. As a result, if a user (or a group to which they belong) doesn't have read access to the file File.exists() will return false. Windows which doesn't have as tightly controlled access to files will admit that a file exists whether it can be read or not.
    PS.
This is proof that I should never answer a question off the top of my head when I haven't had my red bull yet. This is wrong. You will be able to see it if you have read and execute on the directory.
