Issues with hangman activity in captivate 7

Hi,
I am using the hangman activity in some of my projects. There are two issues being faced:
When I test the published file in scormcloud, it works fine. The screen automatically progresses to the next slide once the learner completes the activity (I am using IE or firefox browser). However, when my client tests it, they get stuck after this activity, because the slide doesn't progress (they're testing on Chrome browser). Is this a browser issue?
Secondly, for the learner to move from one question to another after completing it, the button label reads 'Retry', which is not correct because you want them to continue and not retry a word. Is there a way to customize the button labels for these new interactions?
Your advise would be highly appreciated!

Divya, I have had similar problems with the puzzle widget. In the end we cannot make learner tools that only work on certain browsers. Users use different browsers. And that is that.
Adobe did not round off these widget tools properly. I actually wonder how they passed any form of QA.
I have not specifically used the hangman widget yet, However, when a learner does not complete the puzzle widget in time, it just hangs (freezes) right there! So I added a "continue" button that actually runs the slide again (so widget runs again) and allows the learner to try again. In the same way you could just add a continue button when and where your require it. You might have to use some advanced action to co-ordinate the lot.
If you have not worked with advanced actions before, now is the time to learn. Drink a Red Bull (It is not really bad for you) and watch the series of videos that explain advanced actions on YouTube. You will need the Red Bull to maintain focus . Just make enough time available and be patient. You will get it right. It will help you overcome many of the Captivate problems.

Truth of the matter is ATT was not ready for this. I was ready to turn in my 3G
and go back to my old iPhone when a tech rep at Apple told me to turn off
3G. I went from full bars at home to only one when 3G was on and all of my
calls were getting dropped. After the rep told me this I replied, "excuse me?
You mean the reason I bought the new iPhone, so I can talk and email at the
same time on the 3G network, is not even doable yet?" He replied that they've
been telling customers to turn off the 3G and then the phone would work fine -
which it did. Now I just keep it on the edge network and hope that one day the
3G network will be up to speed and I live in LA! So give it a shot and turn off 3G.

Issue with download of Adobe Captivate 8

Hi at all!
I have one issue really strange.
I have tried to download Adobe Captivate 8 on Adobe's website.
But when I click on the button "install now" suddetly one window appairs and it ask me
the path of the computer for to save my file.
When I choose a path of my computer other window appairs and it tell me
"It's impossible save a file".
I don't understand, I have tried to change a path but nothing It doesn't work.
I hope that somebody help me

Issue with the activation of transfer rules

Hi,
I am working with the datasource 0PRODUCT_TEXT, and I am trying to install transfer rules from BI Content and unable to get the active version.
But the transfer rules are showing inactive and the error is as follows.

Try to run RSActivate* all transfer rule program that will activate the inactive transfer rules. Don't forget to replicate the datasource once again before you run the program.

Issues with coverted files of captivate from CP2 to CP4

Hi Adobe,
We have a captivate files made using CP2 and saved it as CP4 and published it for Flash8, AS2 and SCORM 1.2.
This a multi-sco course and each SCO had one CP file
1st CP file contains the simulation with few self-checks in it and the
2nd CP file contain the assessment questions.
When we tested it on the Docent LMS the following issues were identified.
1.      for 1st CP file à The bookmarking is not working
a.      Bookmarking worked fine until the course was not completed. But after completion of the course bookmarking did not work properly. Since we have multi SCO structure the leaner can revisit the completed SCO.
b.      The course did not mark as completed on the LMS on the first attempt but on 2nd attempt it did.
c.      If the course is again launched after completion and the Rewind button is clicked or slider is dragged the course gets marked as "incomplete" on the LMS and does not get changed to complete even after the last slide is viewed and we were not able to re-enroll again.
d.    The interactivities built using the inbuilt captivate templates (MCSS/MCMS/True-False) can not be re-attempted.
2.      For 2nd CP file – Score value does not get properly recorded on LMS
a. The LMS does not record the accuracy value on the LMS, due to which the completion status does not get fired.
b. If we launch and exit the module without attempting any of the questions then a Failed status is sent to the LMS. Is this something that can be resolved using the Captivate publish settings?
b. Even when the bookmarking is set to false, when the assessment is re-launched, the starts from the bookmarked position and are not able to go back to reattempt from the beginning.
Can you guide us on how we can overcome these issues.

Thanks for the reply, Bartok, but those didn't seem to work for me. Maybe I applied them incorrectly as that thread was for the Win platform and not Xcode and I might have translated the solution poorly.
Basically I went to the "Release_Cocoa64" target, and scrolled down the "Build Settings" page. I then edited the BOOST_PREPROCESSOR_DEFINITIONS field.
First I tried just appending BOOST_SYSTEM_NO_DEPRECATED.
Second I thought that this might be a macro of some sort so I tried $(BOOST_SYSTEM_NO_DEPRECATED).
Finally, I deleted all the previous values and added "BOOST_ALL_DYN_LINK BOOST_REGEX_USE_CPP_LOCALE BOOST_REGEX_RECURSIVE BOOST_HAS_ICU=1 BOOST_ FILESYSTEM_VERSION=3 BOOST_CHRONO_HEADER_ONLY BOOST_SIGNALS_NO_DEPRECATION_WARNING".
As you might guess from the experimentation I got none of these to work. The error that I was getting has remained exactly the same.
One difference that I assumed between the Win and Xcode version is that Win separates the values with a semi-colon whereas Xcode separates with a space.
My only other thought is maybe I edited the wrong field. Is BOOST_PREPROCESSOR_DEFINITIONS the one?
As a final comment, the thread you gave me and my issue really comparable? I have other projects that don't use the boost::regex libraries and they build and run without issue. It's only when I try to use boost's regular expressions in a release build that I get problems when linking (debug build is still fine).
Also the link error looks different. The thread that you gave me points at "boost::system::error_category" as not being resolved, while I have problems resolving "boost::re_detail::get_mem_block".
I don't seem to have problems with basic boost - just the regular expression stuff.

Font color issue with animated text in Captivate 5

When I prepare a new animated text and open the property and then click the square to choose a color , I only get a little part of the color panel (when I click the color box) and I have no possibilities to enter the color code either:
I'm working with a Windows XP, 64 bits desktop and I have Captivate 5 version 5.0.1.624.
Any ideas to solve this issue would be appreciated as it is becoming urgent for me.

Can you provide a screenshot of what the Animated Text font colour dialog looks like on your PC and upload it here?
This is what that box looks like for me:
It seems that on this user's PC the colour picker isn't able to float on top of the dialog as it should.
I encouraged Valerie to post her issue on this forum in the hope that one of the Captivate developer technicians would chime in with a possible solution. I think this one has got to be some kind of bug due to a language version of Cp.

Issue with FlowN activity distinct variables

Hi Everybody,
I have a FlowN activity, inside it I want to get values by calling a procedure.
My plsql procedure takes 2 arguments and returns a name.
arg 1 = my process input value (common for all branches created in FlowN)
arg 2 = FlowN_1_Variable (flowN index value)
The branches get create on FlowN, depends on my process i/o value. (Eg: process input = 3 , 3 branches get created in FlowN)
1st branch ---> arg 1 = 3 (my process input), arg 2 = 1 (FlowN_1_Variable)
2nd branch ---> arg 1 = 3 , arg 2 = 2
3rd branch ---> arg 1 = 3 , arg 2 = 3
Inside each branch I'm invoking (Invoke activity) my pl/sql procedure by passing 2 arguments (mentioned above) @ run-time, the issue is here
all branches take the first branch values as arguments, like
1st branch ---> arg 1 = 3 (my process input), arg 2 = 1 (FlowN_1_Variable)
2nd branch ---> arg 1 = 3 , arg 2 = 1 but it supposed to get arg2 as 2
3rd branch ---> arg 1 = 3 , arg 2 = 1 it supposed to get arg2 as 3
This is issue only with Invoke actiivty,however if I print the values before or after the Invoke activity, the values are correct as I expected(different values are coming).
I'm passing the values to FlowN thro' local variable inside my the scope.
Please guide me.

Issues with Assign activity

I am trying to assign a value(string) from an element of one variable, to an attribute of an element in another.
I then test the process and get an error on this activity. The message says:
XPath query string returns zero node.
According to BPEL4WS spec 1.1 section 14.3, The assign activity &lt;to&gt; part query should not return zero node.
Please check the BPEL source at line number "162" and verify the &lt;to&gt; part xpath query.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

I don't know if this is the problem you're having, but I can take a guess at one possible cause: you are using a variable, or part of a variable, before it has been instantiated.
I apologise in advance for this long-winded explanation. :)
I hope you know Java because I'll use an example from that to illustrate my point. Take this (psuedocode) example where we have some code that wants to use a complex type of class Person:
class MyClass
private class Person
    public String nameOfPerson;
    public int    age;
private void someMethod()
    Person ppp;
    ppp.nameOfPerson = "Homer Simpson";
    ppp.age = 38;
}Hopefully you realise that this will fail. That's because even though ppp is of type Person, you can't start using the data structures it contains because they haven't been created yet. That is, it hasn't been instantiated. Instead, the variable creation line can look like this:
Person ppp = new Person();Now memory has been set aside and the data structures are created. There are empty "slots" for name and age and you can start populating those fields.
If that makes sense to you then you should understand how that pertains to BPEL and your problem.
The thing that's going on with BPEL variables is much the same, except that they are based on XML, which adds some difficulty. In Java, a variable has just a value. e.g. ppp.nameOfPerson = "Homer Simpson". But in XML, you have an element name and an element value. The XML (again, psuedocode) equivalent might be myVar = "<nameOfPerson>Homer Simpson</nameOfPerson>". And you can't put in the "Homer Simpson" until the <nameOfPerson> slot exists.
In our BPEL solution, we do something nice for you which most people don't even realise. We initialise your variables for you. But -- and here's the catch -- not in all circumstances.
Imagine our schema is this (everything in this post is psuedocode and not meant to be exact):

      <element name="nameOfPerson" type="string"/>
      <element name="age" type="int"/>
    </sequence>
</complexType>
</element>Suppose our BPEL variable is called pppB (to differentiate it from the Java example, above). In your BPEL process you essentially declare your variable of that type:
<variable name="pppB" type="Person"/>Just like in the Java example above, you can't then simply do an <assign> because the variable hasn't been initialised. Except that you can because we automatically initialise the variable for you! In every programming language a complex variable has to be instantiated or initialised before it can be used. Usually you have to do it explicitly yourself. Some, like in our case, do it for you automatically.
For example, if you want to do XML operations in Java, you have to do something like the following (and this is very psuedocode!):
Document doc = createNewDocument();
Element pppE = createNewElement();
pppE.setNodeName = "Person";
Element nameE = createNewElement();
nameE.setNodeName = "nameOfPerson";
nameE.setNodeValue = "Homer Simpson";
Element ageE = createNewElement();
ageE.setNodeName = "age";
ageE.setNodeValue = "38";
pppE.addChild(nameE);
pppE.addChild(ageE);Note that you cannot assign a value to a node until is created. Also, in general, you can't work with a node unless the parent nodes also exist. The following won't work:
Document doc = createNewDocument();
Element pppE = createNewElement();
pppE.setNodeName = "Person";
Element nameE = pppE.getChild("nameOfPerson")
nameE.setNodeValue("Homer Simpson");That's because even though the Person node was created, no child nodes were. The following would work:
Document doc = createNewDocument();
Element pppE = createNewElement();
pppE.setNodeName = "Person";
Element nameE = createNewElement();
nameE.setNodeName = "nameOfPerson";
nameE.setNodeValue = "Homer Simpson";
pppE.addChild(nameE);
Element newName = pppE.getChild("nameOfPerson");
newName.setNodeValue("Homer J. Simpson");Now returning back to BPEL, you have your variable:
<variable name="pppB" type="Person"/>Normally you could not do such an assign because the variable hasn't been initialised:

</assign>Except that with our solution you can because we are nice and do the initialisation for you automatically. People don't realise this and take it for granted, which leads to the problem you are having.
However we don't always instantiate the variable for you. And one time we don't is when a variable is passed in. Suppose the BPEL process took a Person element as it's input:
<variable name="inputVariable" messageType="ns1:PersonMessage"/>and PersonMessage resolved to a Person element.
Now suppose you invoke the BPEL process with the following:
<Person>
<nameOfPerson>Homer Simpson</nameOfPerson>
</Person>(Assuming that the <age> element is optional, as defined in the schema.)
Now your BPEL process is started and inputVariable looks like this, as expected:
<Person>
<nameOfPerson>Homer Simpson</nameOfPerson>
</Person>So if you then try to do an <assign> and set the age like this:
<assign name="addName">
<copy>
    <from expression="string('38')"/>
    <to   variable="inputVariable" query="/ns1:Person/ns1:age"/>
</copy>
</assign>you're going to get an error because that element does not exist. There is nowhere to put the value for age because the node for age doesn't exist! To be more precise, the query "/ns1:Person/ns1:age" returns null because there is no such element. This results in your error:
The assign activity <to> part query should not return zero node.
A zero node is like saying null here.
This is what I meant above when I said XML is different from "normal" variables that we're used to. You have to have both a node and a value, whereas a variable in Java, say, only has a value.
The solution to this is add the node first, then assign the value. We have a nice way that lets you do that with an append. In the BPEL designer you create an <assign>, then instead of a copy rule, which is what we use most of the time, you use an append. The code will look like this:
<assign name="addAgeElement">
<bpelx:append>
    <bpelx:from>
      <ns1:age></ns1:age>
    </bpelx:from>
<bpelx:to variable="inputVariable" part="payload" query="/ns1:Person"/>
</assign>The part between <bpelx:from> and </bpelx:from> is the XML you want to append. The query attribute in <bpelx:to> is where you want that XML to go. Once you've done that, you can now go and do your normal assign and set the age:

<copy>
    <from expression="string('38')"/>
    <to   variable="inputVariable" query="/ns1:Person/ns1:age"/>
</copy>
</assign>I hope that makes sense. The code in this post is not accurate, just pseudocode to make the point.

Issues with streaming flv in Captivate 4

I'm trying to view a streaming video in Captivate 4.
The video server is an in-house web server.
Nothing shows in Preview mode. When CP project is published, I get a dialogue box asking if I want to open or save:
If I open, Adobe Media Player opens. I don't want to view it in Adobe Media Player. I want the flv file to run in Captivate.
I have scoured the forums, but haven't seen an answer except maybe the Windows 2003 server issue (which I'm checking on.)
What am I missing?

Hi, Ed. You might want to review these things:
1. I often need to inject Metadata into the FLV. This is important because Captivate needs to know things like how long the Video plays etc. and this data is provided by the metadata. The free Buraks FLV Metadata Injector does exactly that.

Resizing issue with login boxes in Captivate 5

Hi
I am recording a software simulation where the user has to enter their login detail in a demonstration.
I have to record it fullscreen (1152 X 864) and then resize it to 750 x 545. That works fine but when I view the resized slides the typed information (login and password) have not shifted relative to the login box and so appears as a field half way down the page instead of inside the box(s).
Has anyone experienced this and is there something I can do apart from recording in 750 x 545 (not ideal as half the login page is cut off) or leaving the whole thing at the higher resolution (when published it means the user will have to scroll to view the entire slide so not ideal either).
I have done it many times in Captivate 4 and it works fine.

Alignment issues with quiz boxes in captivate 7

when viewing quiz check boxes with their associated question they seem aligned in captivate. but when i preview the slide or publish the slide they are no longer aligned.
is there a fix for this?
my work around was to make the questions white and place a blk text box over it so i can manually move the question box separately from the check box.

Navigation issues with question slides in Captivate 6

In earlier versions of Captivate (5.5) we have always been able to insert question slides into our projects as checkpoints and allow the user to freely navigate through the project and answer the checkpoint questions as often as they like. We have also been able to provide success and failure feedback popups for those question.
In Captivate 6 we are seeing that question slides can apparently only be answered once and do not reset to be answered again the next time the user navigations to those slides. We want to allow the user to answer checkpoint questions as often as they like and we need to be able to provide success and failure feedback popups. We have tried every imaginable combination of setting with no success. Has anyone else been experiencing this or have a solution to this problem?

When I run the same projects with the exact same settings side by side in Captivate 5 and Captivate 6, in the Cap 5 project I can navigate the project freely and answer the checkpoint questions repeatedly as often as I like. As I navigate the questions are reset and can be answered again every time I enter the question slides.
In Cap 6 the questions are locked after the first answer and cannot be answered a second time. Even stranger is the fact that when tested using only a subset of the slides adjacent to the question slide (next 3) it works and does appear to reset the question allowing repeated answers, but it fails when the entire project is run.
I have asked our other developers to test this and they are experiencing the same problem with their projects.
The only difference I can see between the two projects is that the Quiz results slide in Cap 6 cannot be deleted whereas it does not exist in the Cap 5 project ???

Issue with linking Activity to predecessor Document Line Item

Hi,
We are trying to create an Activity and programatically link it to the line item of the predecessor Document ( Complaint transaction). The predecessor document number and line item should show up in the 'Relationships' tab of the activity. When this is done manually, it automatically generates a link in the document flow at Header level linking the Activity to the Header of the Complaint.
However, we are unable to generate this link programatically and we are either able to link the document only to the Complaint Header, or if we link to Item, it does not show the apropriate link in Doc flow of the Activity. Also, the Activity does not show up in the Tasks tab at Item level of Complaint - which happens when we save the data manually.
Any clues regarding what can be done to link document at Item level will be highly appreciated!

If you are using the FM BAPI_ACTIVITYCRM_CREATEMULTI to create the Activity, then pass the Guid to the Doc flow parameter. The sample code to add the doc_flow is as below:

Preview issue with software recording in Captivate

i have a software recording w/ intro slides - it look fine in the filmstrip view but after the intro slides (once in software recording) it cuts off a significant portion of the screen from view. I recorded the application window and it was a web based application in case that matters.. Any help is appreciated!

What recording mode did you selected?
If it was an Event based recording mode (say Demonstration Mode) it might not have picked the events correctly, hence might not have captured all events?
You said that you could see slides correctly in Filmstrip, does that mean content from filmstrip is not actually coming while previewing/publishing?
