G5 not chiming and hanging on startup

Hi all
I have a G5 that recently had a power supply replaced, and now its being funky again.
It starts up fine, makes all the right noises, except it fails to chime, the screen doesn't kick in to life and it whirs away for a short while before the fans go into turbo take off mode and i have to force it to shut down.
anyone have any ideas what this might be.
I've tried resetting the PMU on the board inside and left it to think about it bad behavior for time but nothing currently seems to work. Any ideas people what might be wrong with it this time?

we left the installer running overnight, but the install process has still not completed.Also it has not created any uninstaller files under the following directory:
E:\APPS\Hyperion\uninstall
what could be the reason for that?

Firefox stopped working and hangs upon startup

First, a problem with iTunes - could not access the iTunes store. Uninstalled iTunes and re-installed, then Firefox hung up, had to close with Task Manager. After that Firefox hangs on startup. Have uninstalled and re-installed Firefox, still hangs on startup. Using Windows 7 OS.

Firefox will not load to start in safe mode - it is just a blank white screen with no radio buttons or icons on it and the circling icon for loading.
I deleted my old profile and uninstalled Firfox and tried downloading again, but the same problem exists. I am currently using IE as my browser, but prefered Firefox (when it worked). It seems the new version is the problem.

Enlightenment17 shows up in bad resolution and hangs on startup

Hey,
After using Enlightenment (enlightenment17 package) successfully for about 1 week it broke today:
As I started Arch as usual and logged in via LXDM Enlightment showed up in a 4:3 resolution (i use a 16 / 9 notebook) and hanged on the preparing message (these blinking colored squares under the "enlightenment" fontart).
I didn't find any error messages in dmesg, Xorg logs 0 - 7 and nothing in journalctl so I decided to post without logs. If you need more information pls ask^^
System:
Arch x86_64
Kernel 3.9.9
Intel and Nvidia Driver (using bumblebee successfully)
enlightenment17 without any extra modules or themes
Any suggestions?

I had problems recently with Bodhi E17. I couldn't start X from the login screen. IIRC, I had to press Ctrl F5, login, then press Ctrl F7 to get X to start. I had problems with the compositor. I turned off compositing, and can now login normally, but videos are horrendously slow (either with compositing enabled or not). I just gave up for the time being. I have an Intel Sandy Bridge laptop with the Intel HD3000 GPU. I performed a system update, but the issue remains. Perhaps it's a KMS issue???
No problem using the same laptop with Arch XFCE, Fedora 18 Gnome, or Mageia 3 KDE.
EDIT: Discovered the problem in Bodhi E17 is with sna acceleration. Had to revert to uxa acceleration. Funny, sna works fine in Arch XFCE, Fedora 18 Gnome, and Mageia 3 KDE.

Vibration not working and hanging

I have iPhone 4 white colour . When I put my phone in silent mode it is not vibrating and only it vibrates when call comes, Where as for txt or mail it doesn't vibrate . Even if I go to settings in sounds vibrate on (or) off if I do it doesn't vibrate always only once in 5 time it vibrates . Now a days my phone is getting hanged i.e it is not turning on until the charge drains completely

We fully understand your situation, nilaypatel. Just to confirm, do yo still have your phone with you or is it currently in the Care Point? If your still have it with you, we can try doing some troubleshooting steps on it to isolate this case. For the network dropping issue, I hope you're using a standard microSIM and not a cut regular one. Using non-standard microSIMs in your Lumia 920 may cause performance issues particularly with the network service.
BTW, have you noticed if the vibration issue only happens when you receive notifications from specific apps? In the latest official SW, the vibration settings can be enabled or disabled per application. To check, go to Settings > notification + action. Check if all listed apps have the Vibrate option enabled.
For the flickering display, have you noticed if the issue happens when a particular app is being used? Does it occur whether the screen brightness is manually or automatically set?

Upon startup Firefox says "Proxy is refusing connections." When I select "Auto-Detect Proxy" from Advanced settings and solve problem, changes are not saved and upon next startup I must select again...!

Firefox 4 was working fine. Then one day, when I started up Firefox, it says "Proxy is refusing connections." I solved this by selecting "Auto-Detect Proxy" from Advanced network settings, but my changes are not saved and upon every start-up I must select it again! (I even completely removed my webroot antivirus protection, as it as hindering many proxy related programs, but this seems to not be the source of the problem)

You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select "No Proxy"

Have been using Adobe Photoshop CS6 hard copy for the past under a year...and operated no problems...recently it's been giving me 'not respobonding' and hanging there...with a rolling color wheel.

PS2013 - Creating a new instance of Project Server does not run and hangs in "Waiting for Resource"

Hi,
In my Project Server 2013 environment I created an instance of Project Server which is running in a notebook Hyper-V Windows 2012 Server with 11 GB, 4 threds, 3 GHz, one box configuration with complete version of SQL Server 2012 with SP1, nothing trial.
PS and SPS 2013 updated with Cumulative Update of Dec 2013.
I want to create a new empty instance in the same port 80 with a different URL or in the port 90 creating a new web application.
Whatever option I choose, when I try to create the instance of the Project Server it hangs in "Waiting for Resource" status. No Event Viewer, no hanged timer Jobs, all services running, all pools and sites started and I found out nothing in the
SharePoint Logs. After every attempt I return the server snapshot to the former state.
The Project Server and SharePoint continue to work normally.
Any hints where should I look to solve this issue?

so, the only clue I can find in your posting is around the web application.
if you want a 2nd PWA instance on the same web application (this presums you have one already, working, right?).
all you really have to do is give it a different "pwa" name - like "Test" or some such and use a unique project database name : Test_ProjectServerData
there is much more you could do, for isolation into a private content database for example.
to use a different port, then you need to setup a web application on a different port and proceed as above, selecting that web app to start from.
if the basic action of new pwa site provision is not working, then it may suggest there is something systemmically wrong with the setup.

Froze and hangs on startup logo

I was using the Tone Board app and when I pressed the Home button, a tone kept playing and the iPod froze. I forced a shutdown and the screen went black with no red slider at any stage.
Now when I try to start up it simply hangs at the Apple logo. So I don't know what else I can do -- the Mac does not recognise it of course as it is not running.
2G touch running the latest OS prior to V3.0. Can't look to see what it is.
Any help gratefully received.

If you had held the Home button a bit longer, it would have force closed the app that was locked up and you would not of had this problem. So...
Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together until you see the Apple logo. Release them and let your iPod restart. (this is a reset)
If that doesn't work, you are going to have to put the iPod into a recovery mode. You can read up about that here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

Aperture 3 not processing, and hangs and frozen, unable to click any, and have to force quit. Re install did not help. Help? My gut feeling is that the link to library is corrupted.

I even re-installed the new Aperture 3, and upgraded to the most current version, updated, still having problem. Activity monitor states Aperture not responding.

Okay, let's start with some information:
What are your mac specs? Disk available, RAM etc
How big is your library and where is it located? Is it Managed or Referenced?
Is this new behaviour or have you only just started using Aperture?
Have you repaired or rebuilt the library yet?

Trouble with Satellite A215-S4757 - websites have been not responding and hanging

I've run computer virus scans, and diagnostic programs and the only thing that comes up is that the intel 82852/82855 gm/gme graphics controller is not working properly. I've updated it in device manager and it says it is up to date. Don't even know if this is the problem. The only code it gives is a code 10. Any help would be appreciated

OracleORACLE_HOME_ORA9Agent will not start and hangs

OK, the server works correctly. Then i did change this Oracleserver from a Domaincontroller (Windows 2000) to an Memberserver. Now this Server is a Member of an other Domain. Since this time, the OracleORACLE_HOME_ORA9Agent cant`t start on this server.
I can reset the Listener-Service, but if i use lsnrct in the dos-box shows follow message:

No need to Sign in and all , just keep it install, if you are not okay with installing Creative Cloud app. it's okay , you can still have Adobe Application Manager only.

Desktop Manager Will not Load. Hangs on splash screen when loading, then crashes

My desktop manager is not loading, and hangs whenever it is attempted to load. I have done a clean uninstall, removed rim registry entries, and did a fresh download and install 3 times with full shut downs between each attempt. I am running Windows 7 service pack 1 with an HP Laptop. It is an HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC. Product Number LY080UA. I hope that is enough information, but I will give more if asked and informed how to gather such info.
When I right click on the Desktop Manager Icon, I choose to run as Admin. Once it loads the splash screen shows. After a little bit (4-6 seconds) a small Icon appears in my systems tab at the bottom right of my screen. This stays for a little while and then goes away. After this happens the Splash screen hangs, and get a black border around it. If I click on the Splash screen it grey out and says not responding, prompting windows to ask me if I want to wait for the program or close. If I choose to wait, it will sit there and do nothing. If I close it will prompt windows to "look for an error" but has not yet been able to return an answer.
When I log into safe mode, Desktop Manager loads, but does not work well as only a bare bones set of drivers are enabled. If I turn off all but the non-essential services off using services.msc it will load, but again the services needed for it to run and the services for windows to be fully functional are not on at all.
I have attempted to turn off all but the Desktop manager in the start up, using msconfig, but that does not help either.
I am at my wits end here, and would really like some help with this. It loads up (desktop manager) on my Desktop, but I am unable to log that mammoth box around with me while I travel.

Hangs at startup and not able to get to login screen

I power up my MacBook Pro and the system hangs displaying just the grey screen and I am unable to access the login screen. I have tried multiple times to restart the MacBook but I still get the same result - hangs and unable to access the login screen.

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

Labview 8.0.1 hangs on startup and shutdown

I have been using Labview 8.0.1 and Teststand 3.5 on my laptop for a few weeks (eval versions)
during the time I don't have access to my PXI platform.
Today when I tried to shutdown my laptop, Labview would not shut down and could
not be terminated. After 10min or so it finally shut down. After reboot of the system, labview
hangs on startup during "finishing intialization", and must be terminated. I cannot launch it at all.
Please tell me there is a way to fix it without reinstall.

take a step back before we take drastic measures…..
First of all, does your Laptop meet all of the minimum requirements
of the install of LabVIEW? Do you have
sufficient RAM, do you have a supported OS, and do you have a capable video driver? All of these things make a difference! Additionally, there is a way to set the NI
services (or any service for that matter) to run when needed as opposed to
automatically running on startup. To do this, open the Windows Control Panel,
and click on “Administrative Tools” and open “Services”. From here you can start and stop services, as
well as configure them to run in “manual” mode which will start them only as
needed.
There should never be a problem with uninstalling NI
Software due to NI services running. The
proper way to uninstall LabVIEW is to first shut down all NI programs you have
open. Then, go to control
panel->add/remove programs->national instruments software and choose “change”. From here you can uninstall LabVIEW by
clicking on it and selecting “remove”.
Installing 8.0.1 should have had no effect on the NI services or LabVIEW. Did you reboot and mass compile the LV directory after the
8.0.1 install? It’s also important to note
that all of the LabVIEW 8.0 installers are the same. The version of LabVIEW that is installed
depends on which version is “unlocked” based on the serial number you enter
when activating LabVIEW.
It is entirely possible that for some reason one of the NI
services is hanging, or behaving poorly.
I think you were on the right track with starting debugging from that
point. We could also try to determine
which exact service is causing problems, then determine which software that
service installed with and troubleshoot from there.
I assure you that many people are running with all sorts of
NI software combinations on their machines without these problems. If there is some problem with an NI service
on your machine, installing a new version of LabVIEW might not make a
difference anyway. I do apologize that
this has been causing you problems, and I thank you for the debugging completed
so far. I hope this information proves useful -- please let us know how things
go!
