G550 optical drives - problem with drivers

I have a problem with optical drive in G550. Drive is DS8A4S from LITE ON. There is no driver for windows 7. Anyone help me?

Since it is a fresh install, the only drivers that are installed are the ones that came on the Windows XP SP2 CD and the JMicron RAID drivers that I slipstreamed in.  However, the directory structure and instructions for use weren't very clear in the .zip file that the RAID drivers came in.  It says:
"For floppy install:
Please copy all the directories and files in the "floppy" folder to the root directory of a floppy disk to create a pre-install disk for Win2K/WinXP/Win2003/WinXP 64bits/Win2003 64bits.
For example,
A:\amd64
\x32
txtsetup.oem"
Well, my power supply does not have a connector for a floppy drive, which is why I was installing the RAID drivers with a slipstreamed XP CD.  However, in the actual .zip file, there is no "floppy" folder!  There are 4 subdirectories:  Application, Driver, Floppy32 and Floppy64.  The Driver directory has 2 subdirectories:  amd64 and x32.  I didn't understand whether I was supposed to use the files in the Driver/x32 folder, or the ones in the Floppy32 folder.
I ended up slipstreaming the files from the Floppy32 folder because it seemed to make the most sense according to the instructions.  However, I noticed both in nLite and when Windows was actually preparing setup that multiple RAID drivers were found in and loaded from this directory, whereas in the Driver/x32 folder, nLite detected only one set of RAID drivers.  Did I use the wrong directory to get the JMicron RAID drivers when I made the slipstreamed XP CD?  Or do you think there is a different problem?

  • 3000 n200 Optical Drive problems

    Hi all.
I have a Lenovo 3000 N200  MT0687, that has NEVER had a properly working optical drive.
Purchased this machine, was on display, and they had lost the box, and no one knew the password on it, so formatted and installec Win XP. The optical drive will install Win XP and other operating systems, but once installed
will NOT look at any other Discs. Data, DVD's,  music CD's Will not see a blank cd/dvd so can't write to cd.
Have tried Ubuntu 8.04 with exactly the same result.
Everything else works fine on both WinXP and Linux. Optical Drive doesn't show in either.
I have been in touch with the Lenovo service centre on a number of occasions, and have had different answers
each time,  everything from updating the bios, to installing drivers. Nothing worked. Have been told my problem,  "original
image" not still on it. See below re re-installing said image with recovery cd's.
Lenovo sent me a new optical drive, a different make to the original, no change, still no
drive showing anywhere on XP. (Or ubuntu 8.04, I appreciate there is no support for Linux)
Lenovo even sent me a set of recovery discs(3), which I installed (after formatting, several times with bios set to both AHCI and Compatability) using both the internal and an external USB connected optical drive. Same result, system boots to "Welcome to Vista etc, then shutting down logging off, only to re-boot to the same place ad infinitum. In short  "recovery discs" did not recover. Get error message randomly when this happens "Side Bar error The application failed to initialize properly
(0xc0000189) " Click OK to terminate, but is too fast, and terminates itself.
Machine was sent to Selectron for checkout, told "Nothing wrong with it", but the Optical Drive working at last.
Partitioned Vista, (Shrunk Partition to 45gig) installed another operating system on new partition, can boot into both  systems
and recovery, working fine, but now no Optical Drive again.
Rang Lenovo again, informed them, and queried possibilty of buying a Win XP recovery disc, told drive will only work with
Vista, so waste of funds to get a Win XP recovery disc that may or may not work properly.
Am I missing an obscure driver, or will the drive only perform all it's functions running Vista
(which the recovery discs will not install properly)?. If this is the case shouldn't it (the fact that it needs Vista)
be mentioned at point of sale. Does this breach the Anti trust laws? I am afraid I am getting very fed up, would be nice not to have to carry around an external optical drive, that needs a power supply,  so if anyone has any ideas I would be extremely appreciative, would even consider naming y first born after them. Will post my problem on the Ubuntu lists again, hoping for resolution. Seems that it's a retty basic expectation that  CD drives just work. This should be a machine that can have software installed on it. Have 2 towers (1 dual boot) that have had a few optical drives changed with never any problems.
Thanks in advance. Any ideas very much appreciated.
    Winton

What a terrible service from Lenovo. Well after many phone calls to what turned out to be a call centre in Romania. and after being promised a replacement drive day after day one finally turned up. Even after fully explaining what I needed I was sent the wrong drive they sent me a DVD Rom and not the DVD Rewriter that was in my original laptop. The same Romanians have promised me the correct one on Monday. I will wait and see. I have little faith in Lenovo and their whole very poor support network. Quite frankly the drive should never have broken in  only 3 weeks and after only approx 8 uses.
I wonder what will turn up

  • Nokia 5800 problem with drivers windows 7 32-bit

Hi, i have problem with drivers for 5800 in windows 7, all drivers except modem and cdc comms work, how can i update drivers for that, i have installed lates nokia suite 3.3 and newest cable drivers, i try drivers 6.x but then my 5800 is not recognized, what is the solution?

    Hi:
You can use the W7 x64 drivers from the 250 G2 support page.  They have the 32 bit driver files too.
That would be for all but the graphics if your G2 has a Pentium or Celeron processor.
If your notebook has one of those processors, then download, unzip and run the graphics driver setup exe file from the link below.

Driver problems with Windows Professional XP 64bit Edition

Well, after looking around the forum here I found an answer that works! I wish I could remember who to give credit too though. I installed the latest Vista drivers and I got static all the time. I tried another members suggestion of disabling the X-Fi device in the Device manager every time I log off and then enable the X-Fi the next time I log in. I have great sound as long as I do that. Also, for connecting to a home system I am using the DTS-60, $00 on this website, but it works well if you havea DTS decoder. I am using the X-Fi extreme Music edition. Good Luck, hopefully another driver is on the way.

OK. I just went to Control Panel - Sound - Playback - Digital Output Device (SB Xtreme Audio Notebook) - Properties - Advanced. I experimented with different sample rates and bit depths. Clicked the test button and lo and behold - sound from the HTS! I've tried iTunes, PowerDVD (configured to digital output) and YouTube - no sound! Am I missing something really obvious?
HA! Just backed out to Playback and selected Digital Output Device (SPDIF) and set as Default. Sound is emunating from HTS! Well, that mystery is solved! Who knew.
Thanks anyway! Any comments or advice will still be appreciated.

  • 975X PowerUp--setting up PATA RAID0 and 2 optical drives (Problem Solved)

Hi, all.  Revamping my existing system extensively and need some help.
I have 2 optical drives and 2 hard drives.  I want to have the optical drives set up as master/slave on one IDE cable and the 2 hard drives set up as a RAID array on a second IDE cable.  I did it on my old mobo but is this possible with the 975X Platinum PowerUp?
The manual says that IDE1 can support a master and slave, but that IDE2 only supports a master.  However, I know this to be false because IDE2 is the slot that the JMicron RAID controller governs.  I can manage to set up a RAID0 array with both HDDs master/slaved and plugged into IDE2.  However, the optical drives in IDE1 are not recognized if I do this.  I can get the system to recognize the optical drives if I plug them into IDE2...  They work, but are incorrectly recognized by the JMicron portion of system post as a RAID array.  I can't install Windows on the RAID array because so far the system won't access the optical drives without them being on IDE2--which I need for JMicron to control the RAID array.  You can see how this would cause trouble.    Is there some way that I can go into the BIOS and tell the system that IDE1 is the optical drives?
I have looked in the manual and on websites.  Nobody seems to have the same problem.  I know that I am a bit behind the times by not having a CD-RW/DVD-RW combo drive, but even having only the one device would not solve the problem of devices on IDE1 not being recognized by the system.  This sounds like it should be possible to set up correctly, but because of the unfamiliarity of the motherboard and the complexity of the BIOS in relation to my last one, I know I am not doing something right.  I hope I've made the situation clear enough to make sense to other people!
    Any suggestions?

My problem is my pioneer 111D CD/DVD IDE connected drive will only play CD files. Also on the diagnostic lights on the MO I get the first 3 lit, 4th intermittent, and 5th nothing.
Thats normal (if it is the similar 5 LED's as on 790GX, -just above the ram-slot?) You will for example see the 5th light-up during Vista Experience Index running

One other thing I tried was a copy of windows 7 on a DVD that would not read when I tried a fresh install. I think its something between the MO and optical drive, is there anything in the BIOS to look for?
Do see any "yellow question mark" regarding the optical drive, in the Device Manager? Any how, there is a fix dealing with CD/DVD ROM issue at the official Window Fix It web site.
Click "delete lower & upper filters for CD devices" and follow link to the next microsoft site, there you just can click "Solve this problem" dialog box. Has helpt lot of people, worth trying

  • Satellite M645 S4070 optical drive problem

I have used my laptop for a year without problem.
Last weekend, i just noticed that my optical drive did not work any more.  When I put a DVD in, the drive indicator light flashed for couple seconds, then off.
I checked device manager, the system shows the optical drive information, but with a exclamation mark which means sth is wrong.
I uninstalled the driver and restarted my laptop.  It shows that the driver was not properly installed.
By the way, I believe that I already disabled ODD power on/off utility.  I use windows 7.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you.

    Hi Peter,
I am having the same trouble as numerous others have mentioned on the board.  I have a Satellite L635 running Windows 7 and although I have had it for just about a year now, I have had no problems with the CD/DVD drive (very little used BTW) until today.  I've searched the boards and have done everything suggested...I already had all my power options where they should be (except my model does *not* have one specific for the optical drive--just the cooling method and FN Tab doesn't work on my model either), so I tried to uninstall the power saver, rebooted, and it didn't work.  I tried MS Fixit and it didn't work.  I went to the run command prompt and typed in regedit like another post suggested and went through those directions. All I had listed was upper filter, so I deleted that, rebooted, and found that it messed with my iTunes settings.  I had to install the lastest version of that anyways, so now, 7 hours later after the drive first took a crap, my iTunes is still giving me the message that "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing.  This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software.  Please reinstall iTunes."
After I had done the bulk of all of the suggestions, I rebooted and I was able to get info off of one disc, but then it crapped out again part-way through the second one.  Any other suggestions???

  • Optical drive problems after upgrade to Tiger 10.4.10

I've just had my machine updated to Tiger 10.4.10 after having two new hard drives installed after a hard drive failure. I'm now having issues with burning data for backup purposes.
I can't burn anything with Mac OS Disc Burner utility, it doesn't seem to recognize blank disc's DVD's or CD's. It keeps telling me to load a disc when one is already in the drive.
System profiler recognizes CD-R's & DVD-R's when they are in the optical drive
I can burn with Toast Titanium ver 6.0.3 DVD's & CD's. The burned CD's will mount. The burned DVD's will not mount.
I have checked the burned DVD's in the optical drive of my iBook G4 Mac OS 10.3.9 and they mount on it fine.
Movie DVD's will mount & play. Software DVD's will mount and load applications.
I have cleaned the drive with a cleaning disc.
The Optical Drive was working fine before the upgrade, so what is the problem?
I can only assume two problems now!
1.) the optical drive has a physical malfunction
2.) there is a software issue between Tiger 10.4.10 & this optical drive (this is my favorite at the moment)
The upgrade was done by an Apple Authorised Service Provider they say there are no issues with Tiger & the optical drive.
So any ideas or help would be much appreciated.

I'm having a similar problem. I bought my G5 with Panther OS on it a few years ago. The DVD drive functioned perfectly back then. Then I upgraded to Tiger this past year which caused the DVD drive to open later..that is, I'd have to hold down the eject button for a good 2 or 3 seconds before it would open or close. Previously it responded instantly. Now what happens more and more is it can't read DVD-ROM disks that it has burned. My imac G4 with Jaguar has no trouble reading the disks but Tiger 10.4.9 and 10.4.10 simply refuse to mount DVD ROM disks that it burned.
I'm trying to make a duplicate DVD of the offending disk on my single-processor G4 and then put THAT disk into the G5 so it can read the info. Hopefully that will be my work-around.
It's got to be a software issue and I keep hoping the Apple wiz kids will put out an update to remedy this. Something's fishy with the DVD drive programming.

    Hi:
THe PCI device needs the Realtek Card Reader driver installed.
Currently there is no fix for the BT not working. No one I know of has found a resolution to the problem.
Hopefully, a driver update is in the works.
I would need the hardware ID for the unknown device to let you know what driver you need.
Use this guide for finding the hardware ID.

  • Print driver problem with OS 10.4.6

I recently installed 10.4.6 and ever since have been unable to print via a network on a Lexmark Optra T614 (duplex). All was working fine until the upgrade to 10.4.6. I have downloaded a driver from Lexmark's website and successfully installed it to my system via the wizard - message was "you have successfully installed . . . ". However cannot find it to install through the Print Centre. I am running it through a router shared with a PC (Windows 2000). No problems at the Pc end. As I said prior to purchasing 10.4.6 all was working fine. I have tried to set up to print through the local network via the PC - without success. At one point (not sure what I did) actually got the Mac talking to the printer. The lights were activated and it made a few attempts but then cancelled out. I then tried something else and it didn't work, so now I am back to where I was when I started. Can you help with this one Greg? regards Ian

Hi Greg, Still no answer to my printing problem.
The Optra T driver is probably right.
I trashed the drivers and did a fresh download and reinsatlled. It is an Optra T driver.
Since you can't print using generic postscript, I don't think you
have a driver problem. If the printer supports LPD or
IPP, you probably need to enter a device queue name
in Printer Setup. (No queue name for HP Jetdirect
protocol) L1, P1, LPT1, and print are common queue names
I have set up so that Printer Name is 192.168.0.200. This automatically selected Lexmark Optra T. Also the queue name appeared as 192_168_0200-1. Host name was blank and Driver Version 10.4 and PPD File Version is 10.4.3.3.0. I tried to print the Print box showed Preparing . . then Processing Page 1 and dissapeared in the normal manner. I opened the Printer Monitor (in the dock) and it showed the job in the queue as it should and the Status showed: printing. The blue bar scrolls and the message Connected to 192.168.0.200 comes up. The printer shows no sign of receiving the file. I have done this numerous times. I have also keyed in the computer name in the location and still no go - just the same outcome. The computer name is ian-brownlees-computer.local.
Look in the printer manual or google for it.
Unfortunately I don't have a manual but have been trying to locate one.
    Any further clues??

  • Mac Mini Optical Drive problems

Hi, I've been working on a Mac Mini G4 that has been giving me quite the problems. The first problem was the original slot load drive would not accept any cds, the piece that holds the cd in place once it is loaded is stuck up even though there is no cd in the drive.
To correct this issue I ordered an almost exact replacement from ebay. (original is UJ-845-c 678-0503G replacement is UJ-845-c 678-0503D). The drive installed with no problems and accepts cds with ease. The problem is is that the drive does not detect and the eject button the keyboard does not function. I was able to get it to eject the cd once by holding down the mouse button while shutting down, but that has yet to work again. (I've tried a dvd and a cd so far, no luck with either). Also, it does not give the option to boot off the cd-rom drive when I boot up with the option key pressed.
I'm running out of ideas here and any help would be greatly appreciated!

The ebay unit may have been junk. Why not get a FireWire external optical drive?
