GATP implementation

Hi,
Is any one implementated GATP's - Product allocation, Rule based ATP only in GATP. APO is not linked with the SAP R/3?

If your question is can we have GATP -PAL & RBATP without R3 , then the ans is yes. And you can execute the GATP check from ATP simulation(/SAPAPO/AC04) for requirements. But it is just simulation. To see the effect of the GATP methods one should perform GATP check on the execution system (R3). This is my opinion on stand alone GATP implementation.

  • What are the commonly encountered issue in Go-Live for GATP implementation?

    Dear All,
I am currently involved in a GATP implementation project.
I would like know that -
    1. What are commonly encountered GATP related problems during Go-Live?
[I have already prepared a list for the same. Some of the root causes are like -
        1. Incorrect strategy group maintained in the material master.
        2. During CIF model creation 'Availability Check' check box not activated.
        3. Availability check and allocation should be activated for the schedule line.
        4. Incorrect rule maintenace for RBA. (RBA04)
        5. Incorrect rule assignment for RBA. (AO11)
        6. Incorrect Check instruction.
        7. Incorrect Check control
        and so on.....]
    2. Is there any check list available in the forum for the same?
    Thanks & Regards
    Piyush Ranpura

    Hi Piyush,
    1) You definitely need to ensure that your OVZJ settings are as expected in the production system after go-live as it can lead to zero confirmations or incorrect confirmations if is is missed.
    2) Coming to Product allocation, hope you know that system cannot read "0" allocation figure and to counter the same, perhaps you may need to build a solution to make it as "-1" so that system understands it better
    3) In the area of ODLs, you will face issues with incorrect data being available in ODLs, this is caused because of some inconsistencies ( I am sure ODLs as a concept is not fully fool proof ). You need to schedule the program /SAPAPO/ODLR in the production system weekly or if the data is less schedule it daily
    4) It may also happen that the logistics team had introduced some new calendars and APO team is unaware of it and you may encounter issues in Scheduling. Try to make sure that the time streams are created correctly and at the same all the relevant route scheduling condition records are correctly maintained w.r.t the data in the source system.
    5) Do a test run on Availability check immediately after system goes-live. this will tell you if there is any problem with the RFC connection, Live cache errors etc.,
There could be many more apart from this.
    Hope this helps

  • How to pass back results of gATP from APO to R/3

    Dear all,
we're currently working on a gATP implementation and face following open challenges for which we kindly ask you for your valuable support:
1.) We need to pass back the allocated CVC of the gATP (product allocation) check from APO to z-append fields of VBAP. In order to do that we implemented additional field catalog fields which are updated in one of the product allocation userexits on APO side. Using an enhancement of form MVERF_PRUEFEN in SAPFV45V the data which is passed back from APO to R/3 via field_catalog can be written into the respective VBAP fields. ONLY: this doesn't work for a "complete delivery only" customer/order as MVERF_PRUEFEN is not called in such a case.
---> Do you have any proposals where/how to implement the functionality to write back the results passed back by APO into VBAP fields?
2.) In case of incomplete confirmation (not enough qty) the "APO Product Availability Overview" screen appears. We do not want to show this screen in APO to our users. There should be just a warning message but not this full screen. Do you have any ideas how to turn off the screen (similar to what happens if the order is posted in background)
Thanks again for your great input and help!
    M.

    Dear Mohan,
    thanks for your reply.
We actually use the functionality you described already for passing the required additional information from R/3 to APO. What we're currently searching, is a solution to pass back results (such as the allocated CVC or additional information from APO) from APO back to R/3 and store it there in VBAP-appends.

  • Non GATP system

    Dear APO gurus,
I would like to know how the demand supply equation works in the landsacpe where there is no GATP implemented but other modules of APO like DP/SNP/PPDS/TPVS are in place. How a sales query from SD is tracked in APO and how it is fulfilled.
    Thanks & Regards

    Dear Anjali,
Thanks for the reply, but I would like to know what exactly the settings in SAP R3 you are talking about.

  • Global ATP in multiple SCM Systems

    Hi Experts
Has anybody seen a situation where a single ECC system does a GATP check in two different SCM systems.  I understand that it is not uncommon to have one ECC system integrated with two or more SCM systems for different modules (one for DP, one for SNC, one for GATP, etc).
But we have a situation where we are replacing an existing GATP implementation with a new one (in a different SCM server). Business would like to do a pilot of the new implementation functionality from a risk perspective (scope limited to one plant in distribution network). During the short interim of the pilot, we could have a situation where one sales order could do a GATP in the 'old' server and another order does GATP in the 'new' server. At any time a single order is sourced from one plant, so at the minimum an entire order is availability checked in either of the two systems.
I believe that using the CIF ATP integration model, we can control which logical system the GATP check is done in. We will test this in a sandbox environment, but would like to know your thoughts. Appreciate any concerns/ watch-outs.
    Rishi Menon

    Hello Rishi,
It is quite possible to connect more than one SCM system to ECC technically. Business case will be little specific to customer requirements i.e having existing SCM systems for different business units.
GATP check can be carried out in different SCM system as you rightly mentioned based on CIF integration model. It doesn't create any issue. We have similar system set-up for internal use.
Only issue what I see here is, in case of RBATP, if you are using cross location ATP check, if will not give you desired results. Second issue will be for planned supply components, if material is planned in separate SCM system.
Such system set-up works fine when you are having isolated materials and location to plan and GATP.

  • IMP:Forecast Consumption/Netting by incoming Sales orders in SNP

    Dear All,
I need your help to understand the logic of Forecast netting by Sales orders in SNP. I can see the details in /SAPAPO/RRP3 but getting puzzled for soem SKUs. We don't have any PP/DS and GATP implemented.
Below are the details and question based on that:
I am releasing my forecast monthly and Sales orders as usual are coming from ECC and netting happens. Then next month again i have my forecast release then will the existing Sales orders will consume my this month's forecast (we are following backward/ foreward consumption type with 35 days back and 1 day forward, so as per the time period, SO can consume Forecast). I am a bit confused because pegging relationship is created between the demand and supply element and so new forecast shouldn't be consumed by the existing Sales orders. Am i correct here?
Secondly, could somebody explain the difference between the 'Overview and detail' tab under the Forecast tab in /SAPAPO/RRP3. Sometimes i see some data under the 'Withdrawal Qty' column in Detail view of Forecast tab. Could somebody explain when it is populated.
    Regards
    Bishwajit

    Hi,
I think your first question is regarding the pegging relationships used for forecasting.  Even when you release a new forecast, the system remembers the forecast relationship.  So, pegging occurs but in the sense that it pegs to forecast - in general - not to one specific forecast order in the system.  If you desire to "reset" these relationships, then you need to run the program for reorganization of independent requirements (/SAPAPO/MD74).
Your second question relates to the existence of a withdrawal quantity and differences between the overview and details in /SAPAPO/RRP3.  The withdrawal quantity represents the amount of forecast that has been "reduced" from the forecast (corresponding to actual shipments that have been PGI'd against deliveries).   Forecast consumption occurs when SO's and Deliveries are created and saved and reduction occurs when they are PGI'd.  Withdrawal quantity corresponds to the reduction...
    Hope this helps!

  • APO gATP vs R/3 ATP - To check sales order ATP across multiple plants

    Hi There,
I am trying to evaluate gATP functionality for SD sales orders.
The primary requirement is to have sales order ATP checking take place across multiple plants.
    E.G.
Sales order line is entered for qty 100
60 is available in plant A, 40 is available in plant B
System checks both plants and creates 2 lines - one for delivery from plant A and one for delivery from plant B
(we are currently heading down the road of writing ABAP to do this 'multi-plant' check in R/3 but the more complex the requirements get the more interested I am in understanding more about APO/gATP)
I would like to understand the benefit of implementing APO / gATP as opposed to using standard R/3 ATP and perhaps writing custom ABAP code to search for inventory across multiple plants.
I would appreciate any insight regarding what is required to setp gATP to perform such checking and any other feedback regarding this issue - especially if you have had to implement something similar at your company.
I have looked here but not much clear help:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm50/helpdata/en/26/c2d63b18bc7e7fe10000000a114084/frameset.htm
    Thanks,
    Niall

    Hi Niall
you are probably looking at RBATP (Rule based ATP). Look at transaction /sapapo/rba04 in APO where you develop your own location and product substitution rules. Going down an ABAP road in R/3 may work short-term but not long-term as the requirements may get more complex.

  • GATP for external system

    Hello Experts,
I need to know about GATP check from an external (non-SAP) portal.
We have external online portal from which customer places orders. We want to link it with GATP to have online check of the products availability and the date. As of now this portal is linked with the ECC and an order placed on the portal gets created as Sales Order in ECC upon saving. (GATP is in place for background check in ECC while creation of Sales order). Stock update is done manually on the portal.
One of senior guided to use ATP related ES bundle for 'Check Requirements_V1' function. We just want to check for availability and not reservation from Portal. Also, using BAPI apoatpcheck call was suggested.
However, I'm not much aware of ES and how to go about and implement the given functionality & enhancement in the ES.
Can you please share your experiences and suggest how to implement it?
We are using SCM 7.0. Do we necessarily need to consult SAP?
    Thanks for your help!
    AP.

    Hello AP APO,
Even R/3 ATP component uses a BAPI "BAPI_APOATP_CHECK" to peform availability check in APO GATP system. Hence, did you get a chance to call this BAPI from your external sytem to perform the gATP check ? I think BAPIs can be called from Legacy system.
You can try this out by passing necessary parameteres to the above mentioned BAPI.
    Hope this helps.

you can also find the release restrictions and release notes for SCM 2007
    not sure of active customers
the release date is 31/08/07 as per the PAM
i think it wouldve been beta tested for the last 6 months at least

  • Rules-based GATP with sales BOM

    Hi,
with reference to the following thread which asks the same question, but although in "answered" status, actually contains no answer to the final question...
    GATP Question
We are investigating the possibility of using GATP with rules-based ATP to propose a sourcing plant. The result of this is of course a subitem in the sales order.
My question is, is there any restriction to using the sales BOM with rules-based ATP? We use the sales BOM currently to insert the packaging items into the sales order. From a previous project, I have in the back of my mind that there was a restriction in this respect, and that with the subitem from the GATP result, it was not possible to explode the sales BOM.
I cannot find what I recall to be the explicit SAP-help statement in this respect. Anybody with experience in this?
    Regards,
    Douglas

The current situation is as follows:
We have the saleable product A in plants X and Y, with a sales BOM in each of the plants, for the packaging items B and C. When product A is entered in the sales order in, say, plant X, the sales BOM is exploded and items B and C are inserted into the sales order. ATP is done in R/3, and if there is no availability in X, then the plant can be manually changed to Y, but each of the subitems from the sales BOM must also be manually changed to Y.
    Desired to be situation:
We implement GATP, with a rule to subsitute plant X with plant Y in the event that plant X has no stock. So the desired system response is: enter item A in the sales order with plant X, GATP subsitutes plant X with plant Y and generates a subitem for product A in plant Y. Now the sales BOM is exploded for the new subitem, generating the further subitems for B and C, also in plant Y.
    Is this possible?

  • Intercompany Stock Transport Orders - Inventory Revaluation & GATP

We have intercompany STOs setup using PO document type NB, using the two-step setup, with delivery and billing document/invoice.
The issues we are having is APO-GATP and FI/MM related:
    1) FI/MM Issue: Because of the long transit times (6 - 8 weeks in-transit), if the inventory is revalued/recosted after the PGI and before the GR, the difference in the inventory value (between the PGI-643 and the GR-101) ends up being posted to a Price Difference account.  Our Finance department then has to manually identify these postings, and make the necessary adjustments or re-posting to the Inventory Revaluation account.
    2) APO-GATP Issue: We are currently investigating the possible solution of changing this to a one-step setup, and add some kind of user exit or enhancement so that the PGI will also trigger the GR, but the inventory will be received into blocked stock instead of unrestricted stock.  We want the inventory that is in-transit, to NOT be available to GATP.  Then, when the inventory actually arrives at the destination plant, we will post a MB1B movement type 344 into unrestricted stock.  This solution may work if the blocked stock does not get revalued when we post a MB1B mvmt type 344 (we will have to test this out).
If anyone has come across similar issues as I have attempted to describe above and implemented a solution, or has any ideas or suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them.
    Thank you.

    DB49,
Yes, we normally revalue our inventory annually, so this issue would be confined to a 6-8 week period when inventory is in-transit.  I believe part of the issue with the price differences, is also related to foreign currency exchange rates (different company code currencies), but I'm not the FI expert either, just been asked to "look into" this issue.
Another possible scenario is to setup another plant in the receiving company code, with one-step STO, so the inventory will be received into this new plant when it is PGI'ed from the sourcing plant.  Then, create a UB STO from this plant to the destination plant (same company code), which will require another posting when the inventory actually arrives.  There is a lot of master data setup for this (lots of materials and lots of company codes/plants combination), and it will still cause problems for the Logistics people.  Maybe this is something they can do during "that time of the year" when the inventory will be revalued.  It will still require master data setup though.
I'm aware that there is no "ideal" solution for this.  Whatever proposal we come up with, one group is going to end up with the extra workload to take the burden off the other group.
    Thanks for responding so quickly.

  • GATP - MISL Functionality Not Wroking

    Hi
We are implementing GATP and were trying to demo MISL Scenario. Despite all the requisite settings, i get no confirmation inspite of the fact that stock exists at the given location as well as the alternative locations. When called from R/3, i get to a screen where it shows no confirmation. Upon tracking the rule from there i can find the rule assigned. But somehow it is not picking the stocks at these locations nor suggests an alternative location. Moreover it is difficult to get hold of any config doc on MISL. Please help.
    Thank You
    Rajiv

    Hi
First of all thanks for replying to my message
I think i have carried out the instructions. I will point out wat all i have done:
In SPRO Settings for RBA Check
    1. Maintain Field Types
    2. Maintain Access Sequence
    3. Maintain Condition Type
    4. Maintain Rule Strategy
    5. Assign Rule Strategy
    6. Activate MISL
    Then in Integrated Rule Maintenance
    1. . Create Location Subst Procedure of type 3 and define the locations which MISL SHould Consider. I have used two locations.
    2. We create Rule of type MISL
    3. Assign this location subst procedure to rule of type MISL
    4. Assign a Rule Control to this Rule of Type MISL
    5. Create another rule of type inclusive - Now in the document sit is mentioned "create rule of type MISL and another rule of type inclusive." Now i am not sure how we are supposed to define this inclusive rule.
    a) DO we link it in some way to MISL rule
    b) WHat Substitution Procedures do we define for this inclusive rule
    c) WHat Rule control we assign to it.
    OR
Is it just that an inclusive type of rule must exist without any relevance to MISL rule. I don't think this would be the case as this actually doesn't make sense to me)
    6. Create Rule determination -  Here i have assigned the rule of MISL Type to the COndition Type. DO we have to define it for the inclusive rule ???
Now when In R/3 i carry out following steps:
    1. VA01 - Create Sales Order
    2. In the sales order screen i enter 2 different products at one plant (which is present in the locations subst procedure)
    3. Now I click on shipping to define it for complete delivery and also to assign delivery group (Is this the right way??)
    4. I get an information message saying "No SUbst for Product with Rules Immediately"
I am totally lost as to where i am going wrong. I have worked on Prod and Loc subst in RB ATP but am working for the first time on MISL. I have gone through watever is available on saphelp on MISL but am still not able to configure.
It would be great if you could write steps to configure MISL
    Thank You

  • Rounding to Sales Unit in GATP

    HI! All
We are in process of implementing GATP and we have a requirement of rounding the confirmed quantity in APO.
The standard Library says that it can be achieved provided you carryout availaibility check from CRM system & you should have ECC defence system.
We dont use CRM nor we have ECC defence.
Can rounding be achieved while carrying out availaibility form a normal ECC system.
    Has any body tried it.
Please no links & theoritical answers.
    Thanks in Advance
    Regards
    Vaibhav Sareen

    Hi
To perform rounding successfully, you must make the settings described Bellow
    Procedure
Settings for Rounding to Pack Sizes
    Settings in SAP SCM
    ●     Settings in SCM Basis
a.Define a number range for the packaging specification.
For more information, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for SAP SCM under SCM Basis ® Packing ® Packaging Specification ® Define Number Range for Packaging Specification.
b.Make the following settings for determining packaging specifications:
    i. Define a field catalog.
Note that you must transfer customer-specific fields to the field catalog for Global ATP. In addition, you must implement the Business Add-In (BAdI) /SAPAPO/ATP_RND for customer-specific fields.
ii. Define condition types for the PAK application and the PS usage. Create access sequences, accesses, and condition tables.
    iii.       Define a determination procedure.
For more information about determining packaging specifications, see the IMG for SAP SCM under SCM Basis ® Packing ® Packaging Specification ® Determination of Packaging Specifications.
    ●     Settings in SAP APO
Define one or more packaging specifications. To define a packaging specification, on the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Advanced Planning and Optimization ® Global ATP ® Environment ® Packaging Specification ® Maintain Packaging Specification.
Make the following rounding settings for the packaging specification you created:
    ○     Header Information for the Packaging Specification
Choose one of the following rounding methods:
    ■      Pack-size-oriented rounding method
The pack-size-oriented rounding method rounds the demand to the next largest or next smallest pack size. Your settings for the packaging specification levels determine rounding.
    ■      Demand-quantity-oriented rounding method
The demand-quantity-oriented rounding method rounds the demand according to the rounding limits that you specify here. Enter the upper and lower rounding limit (as a percentage of the demand quantity or the monthly demand). The upper and the lower rounding limits are not related to the pack sizes.
Define the minimum quantity. This represents the smallest possible rounding result.
    ○     Contents of the Packaging Specification
Enter the product, the smallest quantity for the unit, and the unit of measure. The product is not the product to be checked; it is only a reference product for the calculation of the quantity.
    ○     Packaging Specification Levels
The levels of a packaging specification represent the different pack sizes for the product, such as package, box, and pallet.
    i.       Define one or more levels for the packaging specification.
ii.       Specify which level is the smallest pack size.
iii.       If you have chosen the pack-size-oriented rounding method, you can specify either the upper and lower rounding limit (as a percentage of the pack size) or the rounding direction for each level that you have defined after the level with the smallest pack size.
You can specify a rounding direction for the level that represents the smallest pack size, but not rounding limits.
If the demand quantity is smaller than the quantity that is contained in the smallest pack size, the system always rounds up (to the smallest pack size). Confirmed quantities can be rounded to zero.
Each additional pack size can only be defined as a multiple of the previous pack size. You can define 1, 10, and 30 as pack sizes in a packaging specification, for example, but not 1, 10, and 25.
    ●     Settings in Global ATP
Create a check mode and specify the rounding procedure that you want the ATP check to use as a basis for rounding. In SCM Basis, you have defined the rounding procedure as the determination procedure.
Create check instructions and activate the rounding procedure. After you have activated the rounding procedure, Global ATP rounds according to the specified rounding procedure.
Settings for Rounding to Sales Units
    Settings in SAP ECC
In Customizing for SAP ECC Enterprise Extension Defense Forces & Public Security (EA-DFP), activate rounding by setting the Only Complete. indicator. By using the advice code, you specify that only complete packs are to be delivered.
    Settings in SAP SCM
Define sales units in the product master on the Units of Measure tab page. To call the product master, on the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Advanced Planning and Optimization ® Master Data ® Product ® Product.

  • Wrong Allocation consumption in GATP

    Hi All,
    Application:
    GATP - Product Allocation
    Scenario:
We have implemented Product Allocation functionality in GATP.
    Allocation type:
Allocated materials --> Two step (1. Allocation check and 2. ATP check)
Open Material --> Single step (ATP Check)
    Issue:
We have also defined default source plant for material. So when we create Sales order for say material "X" default source plant is selected lets say "Plant 1" and allocation check is carried out and we get confirmation. As this stage Sales order is not saved. Now when we change source plant from "Plant1" to "Plant2" System does allocation check for "Plant2" and same we can see in temporary QTY assignment in APO. Here Material is open for Plant2. Now when we save sales order with source Plant2 still allocation is getting consumed at Plant1.
We are not able to figure out why system is consuming allocation from wrong plant.
    Need Help.
    Regards,
    Harshil Desai

    Hi Harshil,
This sounds like a bug in the system. I guess the data in the tube is not updated correctly after the 2nd ATP check.
You should find some notes if you search in allocation area with your service pack level.
    best regards,
    Michael

  • ATP/GATP documents

    Hello all,
Do you guys have documents that show all the process about GATP and ATP? Weu2019ll start an APO implementation Project in few monthsu2026 and until there Iu2019d like to clarify theses differencesu2026
    Thanks in advance

    Hello Bruno,
I'm not sure if a documentation exists, but I can describe you the differences shortly:
    ATP in R/3
ATP check just inside of one R/3 system
DB Tables or shared buffer (ATP Server)
    Standard check methods
limitations exist to combine the check methods
    simple substitution of products
    simple Backorderprocessing
    Globale ATP
    cross system ATP check possible
    using of liveCache Technology
Extended Check Methods (e.g. trigger PPDS to confirm a order)
no limitations to combine the check methods
rule based substitution of products, locations, PPMs
    extended Backorderprocessing
As you can see the GATP has a lot of more options to check and to confirm a requirement. For further details about a single point of GATP please check to SAP Help
