Generate a 12 bit digital output at DAQ output pin

Hi
I have only a little knowledge in Labview
I want to generate a 12 bit digital output at DAQ output pin , from a decimal number. I am using NI USB 6009
 Thanks in advance

  • Drive LEDs on 8-bit Digital I/O for WattsView Power Monitor

Hi could someone please help me with modifying the following LabVIEW program:
    About the program:
I'm currently building a bike generator that would have the ability to power LEDs (based on whatever power is output). The LEDs would look like it's scrolling. While doing some testing, it appeared that the maximum power obtained while pedalling the bike was about 3 W. Connected to the generator is a serial power monitor called WattsView, which is a circuit that contains a loop that measures amps using the hall effect. This circuit collects data of volts and amps, sends it the software it went with onto the computer, and I am also able to view power (calculated).
On the WattsView circuit, an 8-bit Digital I/O is also included, which operates from 0 to 5 Volts DC. Below is a picture of how WattsView looks like. On the WattsView website, a free LabVIEW driver is also included. Below is also a screenshot of the program.
    WattsView Website: http://wattsview.com/
I currently do not have access to LabVIEW (it's on my work computer), so I will post other screenshots later. However, below is a table of what I would like to do with the 8-Bit Digital IO Port.
Basically, I would like to have each LED turn on when it reaches +0.3 W. Currently, my idea of doing it would be to create a constant from the power indicator of the LabVIEW program. I will then use the In Range & Coerce Function to set the upper and lower limits for the power range (using the power constants).
    Upper limit: 0 W
    Lower limit: 2.4 W
The In Range output will then be connected to the selector terminal of the case structure. So when:
In Range Output = 1: Execute equation to turn on necessary LEDs
In Range Output = 0: Do nothing
At this point, I have no idea where to go, particularly with the case for when In Range Output = 1. I was thinking of doing a bunch of nested case structures within this case for the different ranges. However, I don't know how I would do it so that the LEDs would scroll up when power increases, and scrolls down when power decreases. Any light of this situation? Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my post!

I'm still confused on how to obtain power in the correct format.
Below is a screenshot of the entire LabVIEW WattsView Driver (Block Diagram)
Circled in red is the data of volts and amps that is being collected from the WattsView circuit connected to the generator. Double clicking this icon for "4 Mat Data" opens the following Front Panel:
I opened the block diagram for this VI, and below is how it looked liked. Circuled in red, I determind this is where the output of power is, for P = V*I. Therefore, I created an indicator for the power to display the values on this VIs Front Panel.
I copied the Power indicator onto the main LabVIEW Driver Program, and below is how it now looks like:
I am unable to connect the Power indicator to the input of the Quotient and Remainder Function. This function accepts a double 64-bit, which is the data type of the Power indicator. Now I'm lost. How do I make this Power as the proper input into this function? And how would I go about inputting a constant valu of 0.3 into the second input of the function?

  • How do you generate a 16-bit non-repetitive TTL pattern on the PXI-5411?

I'm using the signal coming out from the 16-bit digital terminal on the front panel of the PXI-5411. I was wondering how to send a digital WORD or pattern through the outputs where the pattern is non-periodic through a short period of time?
    Thanks

The 16 bit output corrosponds to the buffer that is output via the arb. use the random number generator -.5*32768 to generate a random bit patttern as deep as you need.

  • How to read back the output state for digital output or anlog output ?

I use NI-pci 6221(68PIN) Accquistion card to do measurmet, after i do digital output ,or anlog output ,I find that the output will be maitained by the card.even after i exit my accquistion program. But if i reset the card ,the ouptut also will be reset.
Now if i don't reset the card ,how can i read back the output state,?

    Hi Mike,
There is no way for you to internally route an analog output to an analog input. The only solution is to physically connect the two lines together with a wire.
I came to this conclusion through the following steps:
1- Start MAX and select the DAQmx device under "Devices and Interfaces>>NI-DAQmx Devices" that you want to internally route signals through.
2- Click on the "Device Routes" tab on the bottom of the right hand window (It defaults to the "Attributes" tab)
3- Line up the Source with the Destination to see if the connection can be internally routed (either direct or indirect)
I came to the above conclusion by following these steps for a PCI-6251 DAQ device (the analog output & input do not exist in the "Device Routes" tab therefore they do not support internal routing), but you should verify this for your specific hardware. Let me know if you have any other questions/concerns.

If I were to guess, I'd guess that your filename is invalid. How about removing all special characters (spaces, brackets, etc.) from the device name. Also, make sure your form was compiled for HTML.
I haven't actually used the HTML driver, but these are general things you should do if you have trouble with any Central driver.

  • How to inclulde digital signature in PDF outputs using XML Publisher

I'm working on AR invoice print report which is a custom report. One of the requirements of this report is to include the digital signature in the output which is in PDF format.
We have below code components for this custom report.
Oracle Report (RDF) - to extract the invoice data
RTF template - for report layout
Bursting file - to split the output into individual PDFs
Is there any document available to implement the digital signaure in my case?
I'm looking for the steps to implement this in my custom report using XML Publisher.

Take a look at the report designer's guide; section "Adding or Designating a Field for a Digital Signature" here:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12844_01/doc/bip.1013/e12187.pdf
    Thanks,
    Bipuser
If I am not mistaken, this would require using PDF templates and use of Adobe Acrobat Professional.. Maybe others can chime in with other/better options..

  • I am using an NI PCI 6024 E board device for an analog output application. Can I generate two independent waveforms, one on each analog output channel?

I am using an NI PCI 6024 E board device for an analog output application. Can I generate two independent waveforms, one on each analog output channel? In attach I send a example of my vi to control one chanel, but i need to control both but with diferent waveforms.
Is the vi correctly programed to this propose?

Yes you should be able to do that. look at the signal generation examples shipped with LabView
You can create a 2 D array, with each row representing a wave form per channel. The number of points of the wave form (per row of the 2 D array) represent the number of points in the output buffer
The wave forms can have different amplitudes/shapes, and therefore they are independent in this sense.
However, you need to set the update rate, which is the same for both channels. The update rate together with number of points per buffer determines the frequency of the wave forms. This means the two wave forms will have the same frequency.
To have different frequencies, you need to have say, on wave form with one cycle per buffer, and the other waveform have 2 cycles
per buffer. in a case like that the frequency of the second channels is twice that of the first channel, and so on
The two wave forms are then not truly independent, they may have different amplitudtes/shapes, but related in frequency.

  • How to address digital input & output, analogue input & output when communicate with mitsubishi fx1n plc

    dear all,
i am new to labview, how to code or address digital input & output, analogue input & output when communicate with mitsubishi fx1n plc or crouzet plc.
    pls help.
    HM

Try the above link. I know it is a screen-full, but is a search result for Matrikon. They have a whole slew of OPC servers/clients you can try out. Personally, I would go with their OPC server for the Mitsubishi, and use Labview Datasockets. That would be the simplest with the lowest learning curve.
Otherwise, if you wish to use Modbus, you would have to get the commands/syntax from Mitsubishi; might be in their user manual, but I wouldn't lay bets on it. With the Matrikon stuff, the syntax is all built in.
Good luck which ever way you decide to go.

  • Connecting digital camera w/video output to ipod

can i view pics by connecting my digital camera with video output straight into my ipod?

    Stephen,
I had posted a similar question here regarding downloading video from my digital camera. No replies, so I went to the Apple store today with my Sony DSC-H1 with a short video and a few photos on it. Had it hooked up through the "camera connector" accessory to the new iPod and everything was successfully downloaded to the iPod. The photos can be viewed on the iPod but the video is not in a format recognized by the iPod, so you can't review the video but the stored video can then be loaded onto your Mac for editing, etc.
A 1 gig Memory Stick for my camera costs $125.00 CDN, so for the price of 4 I can get 60 gigs of storage. SOLD!

    Hi,
Is there a BAPI to send the spool request as an e-mail or fax.
    About the sequence of events:
Generating of the spool request is done using the open_form right. Once the form is closed get the spool id and send it by e-mail or fax ???.
    is this correct

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi fassettj,
Enabling comments on PDFs created with your PIXMA MG3100 is not supported using the software bundled with your printer.  For these features, it is recommended that more full featured PDF creation software is used, such as Adobe Acrobat.  For more information, please use the following link:

THe embedded alpha channel might be interfering with things,
    you might
try turning off bitmap member 'use alpha channel' option or
    transform
bitmap to 16 bit to strip off the alpha.

  • Generating AES 256 bit key using seed

    Hi
As part of encryption requirements for encrypting the body of the SOAP Message while calling an external Web Service, it is requried to encrypt using a shared symmetric key.
First step is to create a password digest
Base64(sha1(nonce + createdTimestamp + password)) - This step is working completely fine and produces a 160 bit Hash
The next step is to generate an AES 256 bit key using the above hash as the Seed. This should generate a 256 bit encrytpion key which can then be used to encrypt the message body.
Would appreciate if anyone who knows how to generate AES 256 bit key using a hash seed in Java (v1.4.2) can provide some guidance.
    P:S. I am using WSS4J API to use WS-Security

I have to generate 256-bit AES key with a 128-bit IV using the above password digest and the IV used for in the creation of the AES key prefixes the cipher text.
The external WebService is .net webservice.

I'm working on DC Motor control using DAQ. There is sufficient voltage output from DAQ but not current. What should i do so as to drive the motor. Could you suggest me appropriate driver IC using which this problem can be solved.

You really should use a DC motor controller to control a DC motor, look at the 754410 IC for a good example. You should be able to interface these to most DAQ devices.

You guys have been so helpful and I am amazed at your knowledge level.  I have revised my program using your inputs.  I have moved to one while loop and moved the report writing function outside the loop assuming that the report will be written once per Dennis' inputs, reduced the sampling size significantly per Ravens Fan's inputs and RTSLVU's inputs on getting rid of the connection errors.
One question I have is shouldn't this not be a 2-D output i.e. Voltage vs. Time?  Please see attached and kindly offer any inputs you may have.  I will appreciate anything you can comment on in programming or dressing up the front panel.  My experience level with this is one month.  Thank you so much.
