Generate array from string

Hello,
In my attached array, I wanted to generate another array that just contains the numeric LO Freq enteries.
This is my original array:
Temp:RM LO Freq: 136
Temp:RM LO Freq: 136
Temp:RM LO Freq: 136
Temp:RM LO Freq: 136
Temp:RM LO Freq: 136
Temp:RM LO Freq: 136
Temp:RM LO Freq: 155
Temp:RM LO Freq: 155
Temp:RM LO Freq: 155
Temp:RM LO Freq: 155
Temp:RM LO Freq: 155
Temp:RM LO Freq: 155
Temp:RM LO Freq: 155
I wanted to generate the array:
136
155
I was already able to extract the LO Freq numeric values, but need some help to generate the final array together with the array position entry where the LO Freq changes value (in the above case entry 6)
Thanks,
hiNi.

Hello,
I am able to generate the frequency array, but I am having a little trouble implementing the search array to remove the duplicate enteries.  Also, how do I return the array with the position of the frequency change?

  • Question about using for-loop to generate array from DAQmx. Thanks!

    I have a laser system with a frequency of 1kHz, I am using this 1kHz signal to trigger the DAQmx and get the data from a photodetector, e.g. I will get 1000 data points during 1 second from DAQmx, but I need to separate this 1000 data points into the even and odd list, which is two list of 500 data points, e.g.. The 1st, 3rd, ... 99th data is one array, the 2nd, 4th,... 10th data is another array, then I will do further calculations based on these two arrays.
    To seperate the even and odd data, the only way I can find is put these 1000 points into an array and then seperate them afterwards.
    Can I do things like this pic?
    I don't know the speed of the for loop, because the 1kHz trigger is always there, once it is triggered, the DAQmx read will give a data point, if the speed of the for-loop( the time from the end of a loop to the beginning of the next loop) is slower than the 1kHz trigger, then the for-loop will miss data point, then the ordering of the 1000 points in 1 second will be changed.
    Or I need to put everything, e.g. AI Voltage, Trigger, sample clock, into the for-loop and then return a Y? Thanks!

    Clarification:
    The VI you have posted will work as following:
    1) The task will read 2 analog inputs (ai0, ai3).
    2) The acquisition starts, oncece digital signal (trigger) is detected on PFI0
    3) The sampling rate will be as specified in "rate" control - it is continuous analog input acquisition, which means that after trigger is received (point 2), the board will start to generate hardware clock with frequency you specify as "rate"
    4) with each rising edge of that hardware clock, the measurement is taken, and stored into buffer of driver.
    5) DAQmx read will try to read "number of samples per channel" number of samples each time is called - and if there is not enough measurement stored in buffer (step 4), then DAQmx read will wait until DAQ card will measure reaquested number of samples (or timeout occurs before requested number of samples has been acquired)
    6) DAQmx read will be then called 1000 times - so totaly you will read 1000 * "number of samples per channel"  number of samples.
    You do not have to be worried about speed of the loop. In fact, if you need to read just 1000 samples, with 1kS/s, then you can remove for loop and you can change measurement mode from continuous to finite samples, and specify number of samples to read to be 1000. You will read them all properly. I recomend you to read User Manual for your DAQ device - lets say M Series User Manual.
    I hope it is clear now.

  • How to get correct byte array from String

    I have a string which contains binary value from 0 to 255. Now, if I use String.getBytes(),all the chars in the string which range from 128 to 160 will be convert to 63.
    What's the problem?

    You're assuming that you're working with Ascii values.
    You're actually working with Unicode values.
    When you use getChar() on a String, you get back a 16bit integer, the unicode index. When you do a getBytes() the Unicode values get mapped back to the default codepage of your machine.
    Eg. on an english pc, the default locale is Windows latin, codepage 1252. On non-english pcs, it could be any encoding scheme.
    If you're on a machine set up for a chinese locale, then the Unicode
    values get mapped to your chinese codepage. The extended ascii values,
    above 127 may not be defined in your codepage.
    Try String.getBytes ( "Cp1252" );
    Although I suspect that, whatever you're trying to do, it's probably not the right approach....
    regards,
    Owen

  • String to array of strings to path

    Hello,
    I want to read in a bunch of paths in the form of a long string such as:
    C:\Files1;C:\Files2;C:\Files3....
    such that when i enter it into labview it will seperate that string at the (, store it in an array of strings, and then allow me to pass it into a while loop. Which vi can best accoplish this?
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I'd use the Match Pattern vi in the Strings Palette.  It allows you to search for a character and then gives you the string before and after the match.
    I attatched a vi that you should be able to tweak to get it to do exactly what you want.
    Enjoy!

  • Generating events from a control inside an array of clusters

    Hi, I have a question regarding UI events. I would like to capture a mouse down event generated in a string control inside of an array. Each element of the array is a cluster that has a Boolean control, a numeric control and a string control. When I try to add an event to handle the mouse down the only option available in the event structure is the one available for the entire array. If this is not possible to map event from the individual controls inside of the each cluster that are part of the array, could you provide with an alternate way of "knowing" when the string control is selected. The application has a touch screen without a keyboard and mouse. I need to display the touch screen graphic keyboard when the textbox is selected.
    Thanks,
    Diego F.

    I'm not sure, but I think your only option may be to do some calculations. The mouse down on the array will give the coordinates of the click in VI coords. You can get the coords and size of the cluster and the coords and size of the string using their property nodes. Then, you have to calculate whether the click was on one of the visible strings using addition, subtraction and quotients. Once you make a subVI out of this, it should be easy to use.
    You should watch out for the index display and the label, as they change the values of the coords. I'm sorry, I can't think of any easier way to do this.
    Correction - I just thought of one. If you use the KeyFocus property on the string inside the mouse down event, it seems to work. I'm not sure whether this will work when bringing the keyboard to the front, which is why I left the other suggestion in place. Here's my test (7.0)
    Try to take over the world!

  • Example of passing String Array from java to C using JNI

    hi all
    i searched net for passing string array from java to C but i dont get anything relevent
    i have
    class stu
    int rollno
    string name
    String [] sub
    i want to pass all as String array from java to C and access it C side

    1. Code it as though it were being passed to another method written in java.
    2. Redefine the method implementation to say "native".
    3. Run jnih to generate a C ".h" file. You will see that the string array
    is passed into C as a jobject, which can be cast to a JNI array.
    4. Write the C code to implement the method and meet the interface
    in the generated .h file.

  • Get numerical values from 2D array of string

    Hello!
    I start by saying that I have a base knowledge of LabView. I'm using LabView 2011. I'm doing some communications test via Can-Bus protocol. As you can see in pictures of the block diagram and of the front panel that I've attached I'm using "Transmit Receive same Port" LabView example. It works very good but I would need to insert the 8 data bytes that I receive from the server in 8 different numerical variables so that I could use them to make some operations. How can I get numerical values from the 2D array of string that I attached?
    Every example that you can provide is important!
    Thank you very much!

    ehm: to unbundle data from a cluster I would use the function Unbundle(ByName)…
    When you are new to LabVIEW you should take all the FREE online resources offered by NI on their website!

  • Passing values to form bean string array from dynamic added textboxes

    Hi,
    I am unable to pass values to form bean string array from a jsp in which I have incorporated dynamically adding of textboxes in javascript.
    I have given add/delete row option in the jsp. If there is single row, this is working fine. But after adding a row, I am not able to either do any validations on added textboxes or pass the values to the String array form bean variable.
    code snippet:
    var cell6 = row.insertCell(4);
    var element5 = document.createElement("input");
    element5.type = "text";
    element5.className = "formtext1";
    element5.size = "5";
    element5.value = "00.00";
    element5.name= "qty"; // this is a string array of the form bean.
    element5.onchange=function() {checkNumeric(this);};
    cell6.appendChild(element5);
    <html:text styleClass="formtext1" property="qty" value="" size="5" styleId="qty" onchange="checkNumeric(this)"/></td>

    Shivanand,
    There's no need to post that much code when you could create a very short test case that demonstrates only the problem you are having.
    You're using &NAME. notation on something that isn't a page or application item. You can't reference PL/SQL variables that way (or any other way) outside the PL/SQL scope. For your situation, you could create a page item named P55_DOCID and assign it a value in the PL/SQL process (:P55_DOCID := DOCID;), then reference &P55_DOCID. in HTML areas like the success message.

  • How do I unflatten from string to an array of strings in labwindows

    New to Labwindows so please forgive.  I am trying to use STM to read messages from an existing LabView program.  I am using ClientTCPCB from the example that came with the STM library, but it reads in doubles, I want to read in strings.  I can see that I have the correct number of elements in my receive buffer, but I can't figure out how to convert the receive buffer into an array of char arrays (or strings as it were) something like labview's "unflatten from string" with 1-d array of strings as the type.

    So I figured it out... from the lack of info on the web and forums I doubt it will be useful to anyone else, but will post a brief solution.
    So I dumped the raw bytes to a file to look at how they are packed.  The first 4 bytes (int) is the number of strings in the message.  The next 4 bytes (int) are the number of chars that follow, then the corresponding chars, sans any null term character, then the very next int would be the number of chars in the next string and so on and so forth.  So I ended up writing my own charArrUnflatten function.  Anyway, after all this I might try to recode everything to use network vars.  Cheers.

  • Scan arrays from binary string

    I have TCP connection that is sending a great number of fixed size arrays that I need to convert. Is there a simpler way to do that than the one I have attached?
    Attachments:
    Scan from binary string.vi ‏16 KB

    Sorry, I didn't write my question clear enough.
    I know how to do TCP data transfer. I also know how to unflatten the binary string back to data, but I was hoping there was a clearer way to do it than the way I suggested. For scalar values one can make a cluster containing the data in the binary string and only one "unflatten from string" is needed.
    However, if the binary string is composed of arrays (even though they are fixed in size) I need one unflatten string for each array. In my case I have many small arrays. The attached example with only three arrays was only to illustrate what I wanted to do.
    I have now found a way using a cluster of clusters. I don't know if this is the ideal way of doing this, but it works, and when enabling "view cluster as icon" I can make the code much more compact and easier to read

  • Using JNI to pass an array of Strings to C and back from C

    I have some C code that I want to integrate with a new Java application and I need to be able to pass an array of strings to the C program and then the C program needs to be able to build an array of strings that is passed back to the Java program. I've got the first part working so that I can pass an array of strings to the C program and display them, but I can't figure out how to build the strings in C so that that when Java gets back control, it can display the strings tha were built in the C program.
    Has anyone done this? Do you have some sample code?

    I have a program which is written in C. I can give you the whole project as it is in a zip file. You'll need VC to work with it. By the way, I am using Windows for development. Should you need it, I'll mail you the same. Give me your mail address.

  • Adding data to array from an empty query

    I am trying to add data to an array from a database query, however some queries will return no data (empty set). In that case I would like to add fake data so that the index size matches my other array (assetsid).
    Thank you for your time.
         int f2a=0;
         String[] exportedtime;
         String[] exportedtime_formated;
         ArrayList exportedtime_ar = new ArrayList(f2a);
         ArrayList exportedtime_formated_ar = new ArrayList(f2a);
         for (int jj=0; jj<assetsid_ar.size(); jj++)
              String eng_id_out = (String) eng_id_h2a_ar.get(jj);
              String fuel2a = "select engineserialnumber, TO_CHAR(exportedtime, 'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS') exportedtime, TO_CHAR(exportedtime, 'DD/MON/YY') as exportedtime_formated from tblexportedjobs where exportid = (select max(exportid) from tblexportedjobs where engineserialnumber = "+eng_id_out+") and engineserialnumber = "+eng_id_out+"";
              ResultSet fuel2a_myResultSet = stmt.executeQuery(fuel2a);
                  while (fuel2a_myResultSet.next()) {
                   f2a=f2a+1;
                   exportedtime = new String[f2a+1];
                   exportedtime_formated = new String[f2a+1];
                   exportedtime[f2a]=fuel2a_myResultSet.getString("exportedtime");
                   exportedtime_formated[f2a]=fuel2a_myResultSet.getString("exportedtime_formated");
         if (exportedtime[f2a].equals("")) {
        exportedtime[f2a] = "01/01/2004 00:01:01";
         } else {
         exportedtime[f2a] = exportedtime[f2a];
                   exportedtime_ar.add(exportedtime[f2a]);
         if (exportedtime_formated[f2a].equals("")) {
        exportedtime_formated[f2a] = "01/JAN/04";
         } else {
         exportedtime_formated[f2a] = exportedtime_formated[f2a];
                   exportedtime_formated_ar.add(exportedtime_formated[f2a]);
         }

    I'd be curious to know if it would be possible to rewrite your query using a JOIN so you could get all the data in one query. The way you've written it will require N network round trips, where N is the number of engine serial numbers. I wonder if clever application of a JOIN with a GROUP BY would do the trick in one?
    I don't care for the formatting stuff you're doing, either. There's no need to ask the database for that. Bring the dates over and handle the formatting in Java using java.text.SimpleDateFormat. Less work for the database AND it won't be so tied to Oracle, since you won't need that TO_CHAR function anymore.
    I'd give clients the raw java.sql.Date and let them worry about formatting it the way they wish. That's not a persistence concern.
    I always prefer data structures like List and Map when I'm working with database result sets. They grow to fit the # of records that I get back. If I want arrays, I can always use the toArray() method to generate them.

  • Retun of object or Array From webservice

    Thanks pekka,
    you are right...
    It is also possible to manage the ByteStream by returning the byte[] array from web services, but the issue is when the response reaches to the client... the invoke method returns object ...as
    byte[] ret = (byte[]) call.invoke( new Object[] { "Any String" } );
    At this point the axis server throws an error.... regarding the cast of Object type to byte array... (ClassCastException)... Due to this error i thought to return ByreArrayOutputStream object from webservice function......
    Although the return of byte[] will also work for me.... but the wholw issue struck at client at client side during typecasting of returned object from web services.....
    please suggest any solution.... for its casting...
    Thanks Very much...

    Dear jpday,
    Have you seen this tutorial?
    Web Services in LabVIEW
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/7350
    attached to it you will find a zip file named webservicesdemo. This demo contains a VI called Function Generator Main, which shows how to convert an array to an XML string, which you can then output from the web service VI (Function Generator Main shows how to do this).
    Hope this helps!
