Generate java 3 digit ISO 3166-1 Numeric country code

Hi All
I am supposed to generate a 3 digit ISO 3166-1 Numeric country code as part of an ID.
I have got to know the Locale class which has methodsthat generate the 2 digit code but not the three digit code.
After googling for hours I am still not able to find such a method.
Please help me as I need to deliver the code.
Thnaks in advance...
Ishika

There are three relevant bugs filed for this.
6544471: LocaleISOData.java is incomplete and not up-to-date
This addresses missing 3 country codes:
GG - GUERNSEY
IM - ISLE OF MAN
JE - JERSEY
This is already fixed in JDK7, but has not been backported to JDK6 line yet.
6627549: ISO 3166 code addition: Saint Barthélemy and Saint Martin
This is for BL and MF, which have not been added yet.
There is a country code that has been removed from the ISO list, i.e., CS. We will be removing this for JDK7 (6786276), but not for JDK6 or prior releases, for the compatibility reason.
So the final count, 3+2-1 = 4, which matches your observation. There is no API to modify the list returned from that method, so you might want to specifically account for those country codes.

  • Obtaining numeric country identifier

    hi,
    using java.util.Locale i can get a list of all 2-letter country codes defined in ISO 3166 (via a static getISOCountries() method invocation). However, the ISO 3166 tables always list a numeric identifier as one of the columns e.g. 020 or 20 for Andorra. According to ISO documentation this numeric code identifies a physical territory, and the letters a country name (Thus when Germany reunified, it kept DE/DEU but changed from 280 to 276, while when Southern Rhodesia was renamed Zimbabwe it stayed 716 but changed from RH/RHO to ZW/ZWE).
    my question is, using standard Java API, is there some way for me to obtain the numeric code associated with a 2-letter country code?
    I'm trying to write an interface to Active Directory, and one of the attributes associated with an Active Directory account is corresponding to such numeric code value.
    thanks in advance,
    regards,
    Greg

    hi,
    getISOCountries() method returns an array of 2 letter numeric code for the country.No it doesn't. It does this:
    Returns a list of all 2-letter country codes defined in ISO 3166.
    Output looks like this:
    AD
    AE
    AF
    AG
    AI
    AL
    AM
    I don't see anything in the API that retrieves the numeric code. Perhaps it doesn't fully implement the standard? I'm really interested to see if anyone else has had this problem too. I suppose as a last ditch effort, you could map the codes yourself using the standard as a reference and extend Locale. There's only 242 of them =P
    I suppose it's not good that the first google result for "java get iso numeric country code" is this thread...

  • Mapping ISO 3166 country codes in Java timezone IDs

    Hi,
    I have a database that contains the ISO 3166-2 country codes to identify the time zones.
    But I need to create a java.util.TimeZone object for every single entry in the DB.
    And to do that, I need to map the ISO 3166-2 code to the java timezoneID.
    Has someone an idea?
    I don't want to keep the java timezoneID for every ISO code in the DB.
    Regards,
    Andi

    Oh ok, I thought you meant the 2 digit country code.
    If you use TimeZone.getAvailableIDs() it will become obvious that not every ISO 3166-2 code can be easily mapped to an ID. For example try DK-025 (for the Danish county Roskilde).

    Well, after hours of digging I found a solution which actually was right in front of me the whole time.
    This is how I edited the schema.
        <xsd:complexType name="options">
            <xsd:sequence>
                <xsd:element name="option" maxOccurs="unbounded" >

                                  </xsd:appinfo></xsd:annotation>
                                 </xsd:attribute>
                            </xsd:extension>
                        </xsd:simpleContent>
                    </xsd:complexType>
                </xsd:element>
            </xsd:sequence>
        </xsd:complexType>Before, I placed the <xsd:annotation> tag efter the first line but inside the <xsd:attribute> made much better if you would like it to work.
    When marshling an @XmlRoot object will produce valid xml code. So even though that the server have a different xml schema, they will be able to talk to each other.

  • Generating Java wrappers for PL/SQL Packages in JDeveloper 3.1

    I have not been successful in using JD3.1 to generate java classes for use in calling PL/SQL packages from a Java Servlet I am developing. I have followed the directions under the 'Generating Java Code for Oracle Objects and PL/SQL Packages' help topic: I display the package in the database browser window, right click on the package, select 'Generate Java', and click 'OK' on the pop-up JPublisher window that appears. The wizard clocks out for a few moments, then the JPublisher window disappears, but the java class is not added to JDeveloper's Navigation pane for the Project and Package I specified in the wizard.
    Any idea where the generated class is going to?

    should be, but isn't... JDeveloper3.1

    a custom package I didn't install? Or
    am I just a dumb nut?Hmm.. I thought it was in there.. JPub is a java based tool. You can invoke it as such.
    1st, use setvars.bat from your jdeveloper/bin directory.
    2nd, run java oracle.jpub.java.Main (pass it the same arguments as you would the jpub.exe)
    Here's the output from my machine here:

    hi ,
    As mentioned in the Question, I am unable to find the "Java Proxy Generattion" link in the Int builder.
    Also the help doc says:
    Java proxy generation is no longer supported in subsequent releases. For new developments or when making significant changes to a service interface, use Java proxy generation in SAP NetWeaver Studio instead. More information: Creating Outside-In Web Services, SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio.
    Does that mean that I can no longer generate java proxy from Int builder?

    Hi Naichen,
    I was able to successfully run both the autotype and clientgen Ant task, on the
    WSDL you provided. The code behind those Ant tasks are pretty much what the WebLogic
    Web Services test page run. Are you using WLS 8.1 SP2? If not, you might want
    to try with that version.

  • How to omit xmlns from generated Java classes

    Hi,
    I'm using JAXB and xjc to generate Java classes from xsd fils. I've noticed that when marshalling these Java classes to XML string, there are few xmlns attributes that (as far as I concern :-))
    "waste" space on the generated xml (space is critical resource in our application). Is there a way to order the Marashaller to omit these xmlns attributes from the generated files?
    I tried to edit the generated xml string. I removed the xmlns attributes, but unmarshall it back to Java objects failed...
    Thanks for any help,
    Barak.

    If the xmlns is specified in the xsd, it is also required in the xml. If you do not want it, however you can remove it from your xsd and then generate your xml

  • Problem in generate Java  from PL SQL package in Jdeveloper

    Hi
    i have problem in create java class from PL SQL package in JDeveloper.
    I use Database navigator of jdeveloper and right click on a package and choose Generate Java then in Jpublisher window choose my view Controller and accept other default values.
    I call methods of generated class in the Action of a button in my JSP page, but when I click the button it  throw null pointer exception !!! i fund one of generated method return null and it lead to this exception.
    protected DefaultContext __tx = null;
    public DefaultContext getConnectionContext() throws SQLException  {
    if (__tx==null){
    __tx = (getConnection()==null) ? DefaultContext.getDefaultContext() : new DefaultContext(getConnection());
        return __tx;
      public Connection getConnection() throws SQLException
        if (__onn!=null) return __onn;
         else if (__tx!=null) return __tx.getConnection();
         else if (__dataSource!=null) __onn= __dataSource.getConnection();
         return __onn;
    i try to generate class in Model project and create DataControl for that and use method action but noting change and i get null pointer again!!
    Jdeveloper Versino = 11.1.1.7.0

    Let me ask you another question: Why do you generate java from the package at all?
    Where do you want to call the package?
    Back to your question: you should see code like
        public void setDataSourceLocation(String dataSourceLocation) throws SQLException {
            javax.sql.DataSource dataSource;
            try {
                Class cls = Class.forName("javax.naming.InitialContext");
                Object ctx = cls.newInstance();
                java.lang.reflect.Method meth = cls.getMethod("lookup", new Class[] { String.class });
                dataSource = (javax.sql.DataSource) meth.invoke(ctx, new Object[] { "java:comp/env/" + dataSourceLocation });
                setDataSource(dataSource);
            } catch (Exception e) {
                throw new java.sql.SQLException("Error initializing DataSource at " + dataSourceLocation + ": " + e.getMessage());
    in the generated code. This code look up a datasource (which you have defined e.g. on the Weblogic Server) by calling the method
    setDataSourceLocaltion("jdbc/HRConnDS");
    This look up the datasource nad stores it in the class variable.

  • Compile error with IDLJ generated java files.

    When compiling the IDLJ generated java files, javac is not able to recognize org.omg.CORBA.ObjectHelper
    classs. Looks like the import is not finding this class.
    I have located these classes in rt.jar but including this jar in CLASSPATH gives
    a version '48.0' is too recent error.
    Thanks

  • About generating Java classes from XSD Schema ???

    I need a powerfull tool to generate Java classes from XML Schema. I want that generated classes to have the option to validate XML(to be JAXP1.2 compliant).
    I used XML Spy 5.4 but the generated classes can't validate an XML file.
    Can you help me with other tools that:
    - generate Java classes from XSD
    - generate sample XML from XSD
    - are JAXP1.2 compliant(validate a XML file with a schema)
    Thanks.

    You can also use Castor: http://www.castor.org
    It generates classes from XML Schemas and enables data
    binding without writing any line of a fuckin SAX
    parser :-)I evaluated Castor and JAXB and while JAXB isn't perfect, it's got some things over Castor. Castor almost looks abandonded when I go to the site. The documentation just sort of trails off.
