Generate pdf in FLEX2 on the klient

I want to generate pdf in FLEX2 on the klient. How can I do
that?

Is your Flex app coming from a ColdFusion server? If so, you
can open a <cfdocument> page by using URLRequest and let the
server create your PDF document to the client side.
There are also third party for .Net if you are not running on
a ColdFusion server.

Schedule report and download generated PDF issue

Hi,
I am trying to run a rpt file, which is stored on CR server, on the CR server 2008, the generated pdf to be stored in inbox, and the pdf will be retrieved using IPDF class and inputstream. Ideally, whole process is running within one session using enterprise SDK. 
I am be able to run the rpt file by using schedule mechanism. Setting scheduleInfo to run it RightNow. I can access the generated PDF right after my program schedule(run) the rpt file without any problem. The PDF exists in both inbox and instance manager (as child of rpt file). 
Here comes the problem. When my program uses enterprise SDK to query file list in inbox immediately after schedule() call, the query returns no files. 
Furthermore, I then tried to inspect the instance of generated PDF file by query all PDF instances. I tried to print out the instance name by using 
 IPDF content = (IPDF)instanceObject; 
 System.out.println(((IFile)content.getFiles().get(0)).getName()); 
, and realized that the generated file name is actually the rpt file!! which is really confusing (as I explicitly set query to be SI_KIND = 'Pdf'). 
To conclude my issue, after I schedule the rpt file to run now, I am able to view the generated pdf on CMC. The pdf (as it displayed in CMC) stored in inbox, and as an instance of the rpt file. However, I cannot retrieve PDF from enterprise SDK. I can retrieve the content of instance, but it's clearly not the pdf file I expected. 
I also tried to logoff session after I schedule the rpt, and re-login to retrieve pdf, and tried to explicitly commit() after schedule(). Both methods doesn't solve the problem. Any suggestion on what might happens or something I might have missing? Thanks in advance. 
p.s. I think it may be helpful if I give out the whole process flow as follow: 
1. log on the CR server, obtain session 
2. retrieve the rpt file. 
3. set schedule time (right now), format(pdf), destination(inbox), and parameter 
4. make schedule call: schedule(IInfoObjects). 
first option: 
5. query file list in inbox (SELECT * FROM CI_INFOOBJECTS WHERE SI_KIND = 'Inbox') 
6. retrieve file from file list and store the data into arraylist by using file's inputstream IPDF.getInputstream 
7 close all resources 
Outcome: no file in inbox (I can view pdf on CMC though) 
second option: 
5. query pdf instances belong to rpt file (FROM CI_INFOOBJECTS WHERE SI_PARENTID ="+ report.getID() +" and SI_INSTANCE=1 and SI_KIND='Pdf'") 
6. retrieve file from instance list and store data into arraylist by using file's inputstream. 
7 close all resources 
Outcome: the instance is actually the rpt file rather than generated pdf.

I believe I don't need to include owner name because SDK will determine which inbox to retrieve automatically according to the user who login to CR server. 
However, to try all the possibility, I still appended the user id at the end of query, and still no luck. 
I am wondering if its got something to do with timing. Please advice. Thank you

I am looking into what is involved in dynamically generating PDFs in Java. The project that I am looking into involves taking data submitted via a form and generating a PDF from it. Can anyone direct me to a good site, tutorial, or give some advice on this matter?

If we design our report template (layout) in simple HTML with some embedded custom tag to retrieve dynamic content from a database and other static data such as picture, words, etc, the result will be a html page containing both static and dynamic information.

Difference in generated PDF file size between distiller 6.0 and 10.0

Hi,
we are currently using Distiller server 6.0.1 on Windows server 2003 to convert PS to PDF, we want to upgrade our operating system to Windows server 2008 R2 but distiller server is not supported on this,
so we are evaluating Acrobat distiller 10 which comes along with Acrobat pro x but we noticed some slight difference in the generated PDF file size, for the same PS the distiller server 6.0 generated PDF
file size of 55 KB whereas Acrobat distiller 10 generated PDF file is 53 KB. The output looks same but wondering whether is it safe to continue further with the file size difference, it would be good
if you could provide some insight into why the file sizes are different between these two versions.

Why would hyperlinks fail to work half-way through generated PDF?

I'm trying to create a PDF of a MS Word file using the Adobe PDF > Convert to Adobe PDF function. In the generated PDF, half-way through the file the hyperlinks stop working although they display correctly. In the source Word file, the links work fine. The Word file is heavily cross referenced and is about 14 MB. It was originally a 26MB file, but I reduced the filesize by converting the embedded graphics from embedded Visio objects to .wmf images.
My question - what would make the hyperlinks fail? Is it a system processing issue? The rest of the PDF seems fine. Note that the final PDF also contains bookmarks. All other PDFs I generate work correctly.
System Details:
Word 2003
Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional
Windows XP, Version 2002, SP2
789 MHz, 3GB RAM

Just in case, I would suggest updating your Acrobat. You have to install the updates in order, but AA7 is currently at 7.1.2. The updates are available at http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows. Version 7.0.1 is a very early version. The latter versions (7.1.x) were primarily security updates. The 7.0.x updates were fixing a lot of the bugs.

Generating pdf output with webhelp look and functionality not like a print documentation

Hi I have been using robohelp webhelp for our company online help documentation. Can I generate pdf output which has the same look and functionality as that of webhelp, using robohelp??

While you may certainly generate a PDF that contains the same information, it likely will not look exactly like WebHelp and it certainly will not behave as WebHelp.
WebHelp is intended for on-line use while the PDF is really intended for printing if one chooses to.

                                   The issues i'm facing are:
When it is reading a row from MS-Excel it is writing to the .pdf file from last cell to first cell.( 2 cell in 1 place, 1 cell in 2 place like if the row has two cells with data as : Name of the Intern: Kesavulu Reddy then it is writing to the .pdf file as Kesavulu Reddy Name of Intern)
and the second issue is:
It is not recognizing the date format..it is recognizing the date in first row only......
Plz Tell me wht is the solution for this...

WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT sometimes doesn't display the generated PDF file

Everything works fine except the WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT part. In some clients, this command does what it required from it and opens a new browser window with the PDF report displayed on it. In some other clients, this command does nothing: now window dispalyed. When I refer to the Application Server, I see the PDF report successfully generated there. When I put the URL of the generated report manually in the browser address, I can see the report.
 
Why the WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT doesn't display the generated PDF report in some clients?

I agree with the previous 2 posters.
Also firefox and ie handle it differently. Make sure you test on what your clients use.
Sometimes acrotray.exe is completely retarded and doesn't work.

Generate a PDF from SmartForm with the CRM_PDF_PRINT ICF Service

Has anyone used the ICF Service /sap/crm/crm_pdf_print to convert a SmartForm into a Adobe Acrobat PDF file dynamically in the CRM web client?
Weu2019re using CRM 5.2 with the Web-client UI and want to generate a Print Preview of an existing SmartForm .
From what I can tell, there doesnu2019t appear to be any other way to set up previewing a SmartForm from the Web-client by configuration ( using the Action Framework ) in our version of CRM (OSS Note 1323062 only applies to CRM 6.0 & 7.0)

Generating pdf from the website

Hi there,
Match with smaller problem. I have a website where I want to put the icon to create a pdf from the site. These are website www.mapase.com. I do not use any open source as wodpress therefore I can not use plugins. I've got all code and implement myself. Or find a library.
Description of the problem:
If I insert some of the libraries found on the Internet at Home page, can generate PDF. If I will however try to generate a PDF from this example: http://www.mapase.com/kuala-belait-1820871, the resulting PDF is terrible.
Can you recommend any library for testing?

Can anyone please help, the websites hosted with us are developed on adobe CQ5.4 content management tool and when they are exported to PDF some of the images / texts doesn't get generated in the PDF. Also, the css /theme doesn't get generated resulting in formatting inconsistencies.
However, if the same website is generated using some online PDF converters all Images & texts are coming fine with correct formatting.
Is this issue due to using CQ CMS as that has a lot of components or is there a limitation with Acrobat XI pro trial version or anything else ?
Appreciate if some one could provide inputs.

I Need to generate a PDF File on the server, and I'm usin the command :
"OPEN DATASET p_path FOR OUTPUT IN BINARY MODE message l_verro .
       LOOP AT t_lines.
         TRANSFER t_lines-tdline TO p_path.
       ENDLOOP.
       CLOSE DATASET p_path. "
The File was generated, but is corrupt . Don't Open the file, It's wrong.
When I use the function GUI_DOWNLOAD the file is generated right. But in the server not.
Can someone help me please ??

The button "generate PDF" is grayed

I work with Robohelp for Word, version 9.
I can't generate PDF because the button is grayed :
I try to re-install Robohelp for word, result is the same, I desinstall PDFCreator, the same. In word, the options "Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin" and "Robohelp word COM addin" are checked
I have Adobe reader version 10.1.4
I have no more idea ...
Someone to give me the solution ?

Hi Marie,
I guess there is some issue with the installation, as you already re-installed the Acrobat and Robohelp for word and problem still persist. For testing, please launch Robohelp HTML and create a blank project and see if you can see the PDF generation option grayed out or highted, if not then you need to completely uninstall Robohelp 9 and reinstall it once again and need to make sure that Acrobat Add should be checked.

How do I generate PDF and CHM files from the a command line in windows?

I am trying to set up a PC to build some documents during the night. I was looking for a way to get framemaker to generate PDF and CHM files via a command line in windows? How is this done with FrameMaker 12

Hi,
The part with generate a PDF via a jsx seems to work OK, except when FrameMaker decides that it will not work anymore. I must say I am not impressed with the stabillity of FrameMaker 12, there is room for a lot of improvement!.
I have given up on how to figure out how to get FrameMaker 12 to generate chm files via jsx scripts, any pointes are still very welcome.
The route I have taken is I make a RoboHelp project for each chm files I need to generate. The only thing this RoboHelp project contains is a link to the actual FrameMaker project I want to generate a chm file.
To make the chm I start RoboHelp with a script that
1) Opens the desired project
2) Sets the desired output chm files name
3) Generates the chm file
4) And finally quits RoboHelp
Below is a copy of the jsx in case anyone can reuse anything. And yes parameters are transfered via enviroments variable. I have later learned there is some way to read the parameters given at a command line but this seems to work so I stick to this for now.
