GENERATED BY DEFAULT AS IDENTITY

Hi,
How to use GENERATED BY DEFAULT AS IDENTITY in oracle.
thank you

Actually, there is no way to mimic GENERATED BY DEFAULT AS IDENTITYin Oracle 100%. GENERATED BY DEFAULT AS IDENTITY means generate unique value if value is not provided. You can get as close as:
SQL> create table tbl(id number,val varchar2(10))
  2  /
Table created.
SQL> create sequence tbl_seq
  2  /
Sequence created.
SQL> create or replace
  2    trigger tbl_bir
  3    before insert
  4    on tbl
  5    for each row
  6    begin
  7        :new.id := nvl(:new.id,tbl_seq.nextval);
  8  end;
  9  /
Trigger created.
SQL> insert into tbl(val) values('ABC')
  2  /
1 row created.
SQL> insert into tbl values(-1,'DEF')
  2  /
1 row created.
SQL> select * from tbl
  2  /
        ID VAL
         1 ABC
        -1 DEF
SQL> -- OK so far, however look what happens if we want to issign NULL to id:
SQL>
SQL> insert into tbl values(null,'XYZ')
  2  /
1 row created.
SQL> select * from tbl
  2  /
        ID VAL
         1 ABC
        -1 DEF
         3 XYZ
SQL> SY.

    Hello Arun,
    In SPRO config. there is a setting "Maintain mapping for Actions and Connector Groups".
    Maintain this setting for all the connectors in the landscape and also define one connector as default for all the four recommended actions something like this.

  • Internationalization-How to change JHeadstart Generator Text default

    Hi everybody,
    I want to know if it is possible to change the jheadstart generator text defaults ( like save, go, find, details ,advanced search, quick search, ...).
    Besides, is it possible to add a non-supported language to jag. I have read the internationalization section and it says that users should "Translate the entries in the generated Resource Bundle for their locale." but suppose that you have a lot of generated page, then you forced to change a lot of generated text. Isn't it possible to change or add our local translation of jheadstart generator text and then benefit form reusing them ?
    Best Regards,
    Navid

    I also found the below paragraph in the help section of Generator default locale Property in the application definition file. I had seen this in the previous releases and I was exactly searching for this functionality. But, I believe this is not for the 10.1.3 version since we don't have JAGLauncher.jar in the 10.1.3. I also tried to use this method to oracle.jheadstart.addins.jag.10.1.3.jar but it does not have any effects.What am I doing wrong ?
    Best Regards,
    Navid
    "The Locale used to look up the generator text resource bundle, for example GeneratorText_en.properties. English (en) and a few other languages are shipped with JHeadstart. If you generate with a non-supported language, you will get English texts in your Resource Bundle, which you can then translate. You can easily add your own locale by copying and translating the GeneratorText_en.properties (which you can find in the JAGLauncher.jar file) and putting it in the Java class path. When Enable NLS property is set to true, preventing the generation of hardcoded text, this property is used to construct the NLS resource bundle name. Allowable values: add the right language to your browser settings and take the first or only abbreviation mentioned there. (default value = en) "

  • Can't place XML to table? generated by default during XMLSchema registratio

    Hi,
    Oracle 9.2.0.1

  • Find the SEQUENCE created by an IDENTITY column

    Hello,
    Seems that Oracle 12c introduces IDENTITY columns based on SEQUENCES that are created automatically...
    The sequence gets a name like ISEQ$$_<number>
    I was wondering if it's possible to find the name of the sequence created for a given table.
    We need that to query the last generated number, by doing:
      select <seqname>.currval from dual
    Or is there another way to find the last generated number for the current SQL session???
    Thanks!
    Seb

    Yes, this is simplest way. But just FYI, 12C has a new data dictionary table SYS.IDNSEQ$ which ties identity column to a sequence. I'll use same table t1 as in this post:
    SQL> select  data_default

      3    where table_name = 'T1'
      4      and column_name = 'KEY'

    If not, then is there any future plan for this feature?
    Regards,
    Hubery

    Hi Hubery,
    I've heard this trail of arguments before...
    Customer has a solution... they want it on HANA... but they don't want to change the solution.
    Well, fair call, I'd say.
    The problem here is: there's a mix-up of solution and implementation here.
    It should be clear now, that changing DBMS systems (in any direction) will require some effort in changing the implementation. Every DBMS works a bit different than the others, given "standard" SQL or not.
    So I don't agree with the notion of "we cannot change the implementation".
    In fact, you will have to change the implementation anyhow.
    Rather than imitating the existing solution implementation on ASE, implement it on SAP HANA.
    Filling up tons of temporary tables is not a great idea in SAP HANA - you would rather try to create calculation views that present the data ad hoc in the desired way.
    That's my 2 cts on that.

  • Initialize the value for an identity column - HANA SPS8?

    Can initialize the value for the sequence (_SYS_SEQUENCE_) used for an identity column?
    Thank you

    Got it.
    There are two ways a sequence can be reset:
    alter sequence "UADMIN_USER"."_SYS_SEQUENCE_210253_#0_#" restart with 1
    During a restart of the database, the system automatically executes the RESET BY statement and the sequence value is restarted with the value determined from the RESET BY subquery.
    This sequence name I got from
    But I also got the following error message when trying the first approach:
    CREATE COLUMN TABLE TEST_TABLE (ID integer GENERATED BY DEFAULT AS IDENTITY(start with 2),COL2 VARCHAR(2));

  • Null Date and Time Problem

    I created my entity classes from a database by using netbeans 6.0 and I'm using H2 as a database. I've the following table in my database.
    CREATE CACHED TABLE OPEN_TABLE ( ID INTEGER GENERATED BY DEFAULT AS IDENTITY(START WITH 0) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, TABLE_ID INTEGER, WAITER_ID INTEGER, OPEN_HOUR TIME DEFAULT CURRENT_TIME, OPEN_DATE DATE DEFAULT CURRENT_DATE );

    The problem is when I try to insert a new OpenTable to the database, Open_Date and Open_Hour columns stay as null. I want them to get the automatic CURRENT_DATE and CURRENT_TIME values. I can't see where the problem is because I used CURRENT_DATE and CURRENT_TIME words when I created the table. I don't have any problems when I use standart SQL statements to insert a new row. I just use INSERT INTO OPEN_TABLE(TABLE_ID, WAITER_ID) VALUES(2,3) and get current date and hour values automatically but JPA doesn't do that for me. What should I do to solve the problem?

    Those database defaults are only applied when you use an INSERT statement that specifies a list of columns excluding the ones with defaults. Presumably your persistence code always sets all columns when it does an INSERT, so the defaults won't apply. You'll have to find the way to set the defaults in the persistence layer, not in the database.

  • JPA: mapping circular references

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to map a simple parent-to-children-knows-parent scenario, which contains circular references, using JPA annotations. Here is the current code:
    @Entity
    public class Assortment implements Identifiable {
         @Id
         @GeneratedValue
         private long id;
         @OneToMany(cascade = CascadeType.ALL, fetch = FetchType.LAZY, mappedBy = "parent")
         private Set<Assortment> subAssortments = new HashSet<Assortment>();
         @ManyToOne(fetch = FetchType.LAZY)
         private Assortment parent = null;
    }The DDL for the table is the following:
    CREATE TABLE ASSORTMENT (ID BIGINT PRIMARY KEY, CODE VARCHAR(5) NOT NULL, NAME VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL, STATUS TINYINT NOT NULL, PARENT_ID BIGINT, CONSTRAINT FK_ASMT_PARENT FOREIGN KEY (PARENT_ID) REFERENCES ASSORTMENT(ID));When creating a basic tree (one root to which two children were added) and persisting this object using a simple entityManager.persist(root) call, I get the following (shortened) exception:
    org.springframework.dao.InvalidDataAccessApiUsageException: org.hibernate.exception.ConstraintViolationException: could not insert: [core.model.goods.Assortment]; nested exception is javax.persistence.EntityExistsException: org.hibernate.exception.ConstraintViolationException: could not insert: [core.model.goods.Assortment]

         at org.hsqldb.jdbc.Util.throwError(Unknown Source)
         ...It looks like the Hibernate EntityManager (the JPA implementation) is trying to insert a null value in the table's primary key (id). This understandable, since saving an object requires first knowing what the parent's ID is - although here the root has no parent and hence the parent's ID must be null.
    How must I adapt my code to handle this particular scenario? Are my annotations correct? Should I change the data structure definition instead?
    Thanks a lot,
    GB

    Two things:
    First, the Assortment.parent attribute needed to be annotated with @JoinColumn(name="parent_id")Second, the SQL query sent by Hibernate used an HSQLDB specificity, the identity column, to generate the primary key. By setting hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto=true in my persistence.xml file and setting the log level to debug, I could see that the table was generated using this (approximate) statement:
    CREATE TABLE ASSORTMENT (ID BIGINT GENERATED BY DEFAULT AS IDENTITY PRIMARY KEY, CODE VARCHAR(5), NAME VARCHAR(50), STATUS TINYINT NOT NULL, PARENT_ID BIGINT, CONSTRAINT FK_ASMT_PARENT FOREIGN KEY (PARENT_ID) REFERENCES ASSORTMENT(ID))The "GENERATED BY DEFAULT AS IDENTITY" seems to be the key here.
    Hope this helps someone out there.
    Cheers,
    GB

  • A potential bug on the new feature (12c) of Identity Column?

    Hi,
    I am testing a newly introduced feature of Identity Column in Oracle 12c. I used EclipseLink (JPA) to access the database.
    I may have found a potential bug with this feature. I am getting "ORA-30667: cannot drop NOT NULL constraint on a DEFAULT ON NULL column" when I try to insert a row. My code doesn't explicitly drop "NOT NULL" constraint.
    When I delete all the tables under the user and re-define the user and the tables, the error disappear.
    Here are the details:
    Error:

  • OIM 11g - Set a default password when a user is created

    Hi everybody,
    I'm trying to set a default password when I create a user manually but I've got some errors.
    I firstly created a pre-process event handler to generate automatically a login and an email for a user who is created and it worked fine. But now I'm trying to generate a default password (like "ChangeIt" for example) that the user will have to change the first time.
    This is the code I wrote :
    public EventResult execute(long processId, long eventId, Orchestration orchestration) {
    String methodName = "EventREsult execute";
    System.out.println("###### " + className + " - method " + methodName + " - STARTED");
    HashMap<String, Serializable> parameters = orchestration.getParameters();
    System.out.println("###### OK1");
    String firstName = (String)parameters.get(UserManagerConstants.AttributeName.FIRSTNAME.getId());
    System.out.println("###### OK2");
    String lastName = (String)parameters.get(UserManagerConstants.AttributeName.LASTNAME.getId());
    System.out.println("###### OK3");
    String userKey = (String)parameters.get(UserManagerConstants.AttributeName.USER_KEY.getId());
    System.out.println("###### OK4");
    String userLogin = firstName + lastName;
    parameters.put(UserManagerConstants.AttributeName.USER_LOGIN.getId(), userLogin);
    System.out.println("###### OK5");
    parameters.put(UserManagerConstants.AttributeName.EMAIL.getId(), firstName + "." + lastName + "@test.test");
    System.out.println("###### OK6");
    parameters.put(UserManagerConstants.AttributeName.PASSWORD.getId(), "ChangeIt");
    System.out.println("###### " + className + " - method " + methodName + " - ENDED");
    return new EventResult();
    And When I try to create a user, I've got the error : "An error occured. Null input buffer"
    This is what I have in the console :
    <10 mai 2012 16 h 44 CEST> <Error> <oracle.iam.identity.usermgmt.impl> <IAM-3050030> <Exception lors de la rÚalisation de l'opÚration.

    I know this is something due to the password parameter but I don't understand what is expected for this one ...
    If you someone could help me with this it would be really helpful !
    Thanks,
    Thibault

    Hi, Thanks for your quick answer !
    So it solved half of the problem ! Now I've got an other error : decrypt failed
    And this is the beginning of the error in the console :

  • How to Generate a Report Based on User's Parameters from Web Site

    Hi, all,
    I am trying to use Oracle Developer 6.0 Report Builder to generate report based on what user types in from the web site. Since I am a novice, I am wondering if anybody would help me with the following questions:
    1. How can I create a report based on user's parameters?
    Assuming that I have 2 text fields EMPNO and DEPT on the web site, after user types in some value, how can I pass these parameters into my query, can I do something like:
    select ENAME, JOB, EADDRESS from EMP
    where EMPNO =
    some_reference_of_parameters_from_user
    or is there any other way to achieve this functionality?
    2. How can I pass a PDF format report back to user after the report is generated?
    Any help is greately appreciated!!
    Best regards.
    Judy

    Hello,
    In the Report Builder, create two user parameters, and set the parameter name, datatype, width, and default values to what you want. Modify the query and put in a where clause (e.g., where deptno = :p_deptno). When you request the report with PARAMFORM=YES on the URL, it'll generate a default parameter form in HTML and allow the user to enter in the selected parameter values. Also set DESTYPE=CACHE&DESFORMAT=PDF on the URL to get the output back as PDF.
    If you upgrade to Reports 6i, you can customize the default HTML parameter form.

  • Error deleting a row from the JHeadstart generated page

    Hi I am trying to learn JHeadstart. I have a small country table and I am creating maintenance screens for the same. I used JHeadstart to generate the default pages for me, but when I try deleting a row/record, I get JBO-27101 error. How do I resolve this issue. Which components do I have to modify?

    I don't think this has something to do with JHeadstart. The error means you are trying to access an entity object after it has been removed.
    Could the error be related to your audit logic ?
    Do you have a form- or a table layout ?
    Can you send me the whole stacktrace of the error ?
    I recommend cleaning up business components layer and try again.
